Dimensions difference between different region versions? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any screen size difference between the US version Xperia Z5 and the international version ?
I am asking this because I have bought two glass screen protector from both ebay and Amazon and both of them cannot cover the entire screen of my Taiwanese version Z5.
Both left 1mm to 1.5 mm gaps on all four side at the edges of the screen and it looks ugly with the gaps.

Is this the soft plastic film type or the tempered glass type?

FYI, I have bought the tempered glass from spigen for z5 and still doesn't fit the screen right, when centred it leaves 1-2 mm gaps on all sides.

The Bestwe model from Amazon is fitting perfectly the screen size and the touch is nearly as soft as the original screen.
Very satisfied with it

Almost all screen protectors leave gaps on the edges

Z5's screen shape design is already very simple and allow simple cutting. I wonder why no protector can fully fit.
My two older phones HTC Desire Z and LG Optimus L3Q and my wife's Nexus5 could easily find protectors that fit or cover the entire screens without gaps at the edges.
This is interesting.

Glass Screen Protector

Anyone got any links to where to buy glass screen protector?
I ordered this from Amazon. It looks like it's a Japanese brand giving me some hope that its good quality glass. It also has a 2.5 D edge which should contour nicely with the curved screen. Although its not edge to edge (understandable since its a curved screen), I hope it won't leave too large of a gap. I will post a review of it next week when the phone arrives.

Nice. I ordered the same one. Hopefully it'll be totally flat unlike some of the other options out there that lift at the edges.
I wish Sony still applied protectors like they used to though.

I think this one only has adhesive along the edges, which if that is the case, then no thanks. Screen would be less responsive and you feel the gaps when you press on it.

I've been using my xa with no screen protection since July and so far not a scratch or mark on it seems the x range really does have 9h hardness glass as standard. I don't normally use devices without them but they are either all ugly as hell, don't cover the whole screen or if they do they only stick at the edges allowing dirt and fluff etc to get under it.

From what I've seen/read, the X line uses Gorilla glass.
XZ's screen feels different to the touch than the Z series' does.

True RE adhesive.
And somewhat true RE screen responsiveness - but nothing that's majority a distraction in my opinion.
But the cutout for the front face camera is the main drawback. It's so perfect that the camera suffers from a shadow hue type artifact.
I bought this one, entire screen coverage and curved to fit the phone perfectly, nice cut-outs too but unfortunately only has adhesive around the edges so I've already got dust trapped under the glass around where the cut-outs are
Might go for the roxfit one instead unless anyone could recommend better?
I ordered this one today.

The Z3 has the proximity and camera swapped. If you can find a protector which has holes only for the speakers then it might fit.

Tempered glass that covers only the display?

Hi! I am searching for tempered glass screen protector that would cover only the display part (so I could also put a bling sticker on the phone haha). Thank you for suggestions!

Yes, I would like one that only covers actual display part (the 5.7 inch diagonal rectangular part), no more:fingers-crossed: I think it is probably not possible :/
see I'm the total opposite, I can't find one that fits PERFECT and I usually go with BodyGuardz ( I really like the home button spacers and stuff they got nice kits) but ya anywho....so I tried two , one BGDz and the other generic , the generic was awful , the bodyguards was at least bit better fit. SO , what I did was bought a galaxy note 3 glass and it covers it edge to edge. the only issue is the edges could be tapered or rounded a bit but really I'm damn happy with it, total coverage for the full front, I hate cases but an otterbox / similar would have this thing fully encased and protected.

Best one I've found...
I have tried several tempered glass screen protectors on my Note 4. The best I have found are from Spigen. All of the other glass protectors usually left a slight gap on the edges where the display curves, but the Spigen slightly curves with the display and leaves no air gap. I have that in conjunction with the Versus Iron Shield cover; definitely a premium feel. You can get both for less than you just quoted ($45) on Amazon...
Most tempered glass screen protectors for the Note 4 are designed to just cover the display and not the whole front panel.

Most do not even cover the whole display, since there's a slight curve on the edges. I have a great tempered glass protector, and it is slightly narrower than the display. It doesn't bother me, since it works so well. S Pen glides so smoothly with it.

I was referring to the AMOLED display and not the entire front panel. As you have mentioned before the entire front panel of the Note 4 is made of 2.5D glass.

I have a Spigen glass screen protector on my n910v. It is not curved so as to follow the screen, but has air under the outermost 2mm or so on the long sides.
Not questioning your post. They may have changed, and someone buying one based on your recommendation is IMO going to be disappointed.
Bright side: the surface is nice - nicer than the original glass (easier finger glide, pen glide and seems to be more oleophobic - guess I have greasy ears or something )

May I know which tempered glass screen protector I should order ?

May I know which tempered glass screen protector I should order from eBay or Amazon.ca which will attract less finger print?
There are not any really good ones because of the curved screen. You either are going to have it peel a bit on the edges or the screen protector will be cut well short of the sides.
I went with this film one and although I wanted glass I am happy with it

This is the one I am using after trying several different tempered glass. It's not edge to edge but since it so thin you can barely see the gap. The best part is no halo effect and it's super responsive.

I'm on my second Brotect. Didn't like them the first time around but they have grown on me. I don't think they'd offer as much impact protection as a thicker tg, but they also fit and look better on a 2.5d screen.

Amazon Mr Shield For Huawei Mate 9
I have the newest Nillkin and it is a bit oversized, which leaves a halo around the edges. Not bad when the screen is on, but very noticeable when the screen is dark. That being said, it did save my bacon this morning. I dropped my phone from about 4 foot up(bobbled the catch) straight onto concrete... it landed on a corner and fell flat on the face. The screen protector did it's job and saved the display. The protector now has a very nice diagonal crack running the entire width, but it still works. Unfortunately, it means I need to buy a new one as Nillkin only provides one in the package. So it is off to Amazon to order my old standby, the SuperShieldz

I installed a Cafele glass screen protector the first day i got my Mate 9 and didn't had to replace it in a year.
It's a bit oversized, so it covers the edges, and comes with a liquid that fills the ait bubbles.
You don't really see them anymore.

S10e screen protectors

Which one do you recommend for the S10e? Right now I'm still using the default protector which was applied by Samsung, but I don't really like it.
i ordered one on ebay but i have a feeling it's flat not edge to edge full cover for 10e. They use generic photoshopped stock photo for all 3 models and claim it's curved. I think 10e has 2.5D edge. Not completely flat. I'm also using the garbage thin film they included. For $800 scumsung could include high quality glass and case. I also ordered glass for rear cameras. Never seen or used one before. Not sure what to expect.
tried ESR tempered glass and MP mall tempered glass from amazon
both do not stick on side, ESR is off by like 0.75 mm because of 2.5D curve of glass, it does not stick on side. so dont waste your money on these two, i am still looking for one may be just a bit smaller than ESR.
temporarily ordering a film protector till i find a tempered glass which fits right.
I'm using the PureGear HD Clear Tempered Glass Screen Protector https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P7S174H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_byaHCbZY5Q1N0
It only has adhesive on the edges so there is no bubbles. It is case friendly and is a decent alternative to the whitedome which remains the superior choice for the 2.5D screens.

how is touch sensitivity and does is create rainbow effect like some tempered glass with adhesive on side do?
Keep in mind aftermarket screen protecters (especially glass ones) will have problems with the fingerprint reader.

No rainbow effect and if you increase touch sensitivity in the settings it works great. I have no real complaints.

Yes, that's exactly what you are seeing. The S10e does indeed have a factory installed plastic screen protector. You can really feel it around the camera as there's a cutout for the camera. I would expect it to scratch rather quickly, plus I don't think it provides nearly as much drop protection as a tempered glass one might.
I'm following along here hoping that there does wind up being an economical tempered glass screen protector that works well and doesn't life at the edges. Seems like this will be similar to my S7, where I was never really able to find something that works and just went naked.
Thank you for the response I've just been so confused with everyone saying the S10 and S10+ have one but not the S10e. I think you're right it is just a polyurethane plastic protector. And just a heads up I tried to apply a tempered glass protector over top of it and it definitely made it hard for the edges to stick.

I had the same confusion. All of the media I've seen say the pre-installed one is only on the S10 and S10+, but if you look around the camera on the S10e, there's clearly a cutout that confirms there is a pre-installed screen protector on there. I'm still not exactly sure how to get it off. I picked around the edges a bit and nothing is coming up easily.
I'm not sure how well the edges of a tempered glass one will stick even if you took off the pre-installed one. I haven't seen any reports of an economical one that works yet. I think I'm going to be in the same boat as I am with my S7 and be forced to go without one.

Redmi K20 Pro Screen protectors.

Planning to get the Redmi K20 Pro but would like to keep it minimal in terms of protection. Just need some scratch protection.
Seen Gadgetshieldz full body screen protector as one of the recommendations.

Anything else that can be used without adding much bulk just for scratch protection? Don't want to hide those lovely patterns on the k20 back.

I am using a nillkin screen protector 0.33mm without the black edges. Fits perfect without any bubbles or ring effect. So far the best screen protector for this phone if you want a glass screen protector. It has good olephobic coating so it's smooth and because I got the 0.33mm version they don't crack easily.
Where did you buy that? I have Nillkin tempered glass screen 0.2mm from Amazon India. It doesn't cover the whole screen. It doesn't even cover the display area completely. It also has halo around the edges even though I went to mobile phone store and asked them to apply the screen protector.
This is in fact my 3rd screen protector. I applied 2 others - one which had black edge which covered part of the display, and second one without black edges which also didn't cover the entire display.
I've also bought a set of 2 from GearBest, but I haven't applied it as it's the same size as the Nillkin one.
2 more on the way from Aliexpress, but I'm not too hopeful about them either. I don't want to take chance with another Nillkin, but you've found one that covers the entire screen and the edges stick properly as well, then I'd like to try it.

Previously i used to use S-sheildz (Origin of GadetshieldZ from USA). Had to use water to apply the film but it was good enough that in my 7+ years of using them never had a screen scratch.... Or crack.. But can't find a source anymore. And Don't want pay more then 200 per screen guard....

Hmm I bought in lazada which is like aliexpress but for my country the 0.33mm one doesn't breakf easily and I understand what you mean by not fitting fully it does have like a gap of few cm of the edges. But a case solves this. I am using spoken case btw. it doesn't have the rainbow effect though. When I got it and install I just push the bubbles out from the side the rainbow effect is gone. Idk maybe different place they use different kind of glass. I am using Redmi k20 pro btw
