Hi,
I have a rooted OPO with adaway updated and installed. When using mobile data with Koodo mobile, the ads still show in apps like bacon reader. How do I remove them?
Thanks!

Could you check if your hosts file is up to date? And also you might need to track down the ads websites and block the manually

Yes updated. How do I do the find the ad host list for the ones showing up. I read an old thread about removing apn but couldn't find that on the OPO

I just tried bacon reader with AdAway installed. No problems here. No ads here. Maybe reapply host file and reboot again?

Though you could remove proxy/port values so it won't use the custom proxy setup by your APN

Yup still there. I looked up adaway with koodo and turns out it does have to do with the APN. Do you know how to get rid of it?

Has anyone had any success with Adaway and the Nexus 5?
I have installed it and updated the hosts file with it successfully, and I can confirm that the entries are indeed put in /system/etc/hosts but all the apps including chrome seem to completely ignore these entries which of course ruins the adblocking.
Verifying the hosts file is being modified and there is stuff in it:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And if I try and ping one of the entries at the cli, I get the proper 127.0.0.1 response:
But Chrome doesn't seem to care (yes, this is a fresh boot, and a site I'd never tried, so nothing would have been cached):
And it doesn't seem to be just Chrome ignoring it, other apps on the phone seem to ignore the hosts file as well.
Did something break in Kitkat?
And of course I figure this out as soon as I start a new thread thanks to another thread on here....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38449154&postcount=26
Basically it was the wireless proxy setting in my provider's APN. I received a new sim for this phone and AT&T must have reset all those settings. I deleted out the proxy under the apn settings and now everything looks like it is working well.
I'll leave this here in case anyone follows in my footsteps and has the same issue.

Yeah, thanks for updating the thread with you discoveries
Not sure if its just me but I am running CM11S (28R) rooted. If I send an SMS to more than one recipient (as I nearly always do), it keeps converting to MMS and then fails to send. I am in the UK and on the Three network (if that makes any difference).
Check your APN settings are correct.

Thanks, I phoned 3 UK and they were next to useless. Still not letting me send to more than one person as a txt. Keeps converting to MMS, which I get charged for. The guy I spoke to in Mumbai, said "that is just how it is". Surly I can get around this?????
Could anyone please post up their APN settings if they are on Three. I am not having any luck sending MMS messages and I can't get any joy from searching the net or contacting Three......
You could use a different messaging app, like Slide Messaging, you can turn off the feature that converts group messages to mms.

Install android download manager and see if that works. I use that only now cuz it is able to download using multiple streams and make it faster.
I know it's not an answer to your problem, but maybe a good work around?
Cheers

It probably has something to do with switching between file systems (EXT4, F2FS). I'd say wipe your device completely, flash the fastboot images, and stop messing with experimental file systems (F2FS).

That's true I didn't even know he was using f2fs lol. Maybe it's trying to download to a folder that doesn't allow write or something. Check permissions where it's downloading I would guess..

Every time i turn data off, that notification appear, is there a way to delete that permanently, make it not appear again or edit build.prop to solve that?
Or there is a file that I must delete from the system?

Actually, very simple.
Root your device
Install Xposed framework
Install this module
Restart

I knew that. But there is no such module in the latest Xposed framework for 5.0.2
Maybe you have KK.
So apparently it's not that simple.
And Sony gave a different name for this file, I can't find it in System/App like it was in older Xperia devices, like com.sonyericsson.dataTrafficDisabledNotification
UPDATE
I did download the .apk but from the official website.
In Xposed I didn't find it.
It works.
Thanks.

I tried to search on google and xda forums, and I cant find anything to help me...

Already tried this app, and diferend networks and connections to the Internet, my Decice is not able to access the xda-forums.
I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps the board system is blocking my access
