Good mini smartphone 4.7-4.5 inch advice requested - General Questions and Answers

Hi folks,
Recently my daughter crashed her Samsung Galaxy S4 mini phone. I started to look for some decent replacement. Decent I mean: 2GB RAM, at last quad core processor, memory card slot, Lollipop on board
Problem is that she has really small hand so the phone cant by big. After looking for few days I was very surprised, that there is almost no offer in this range - most producers moved to 5"-5.5" range.. I found only Samsung A3. Other mini phones were just rubbish.
Can you advice anything good ? Maybe I missed some phone ?

I know right, I have exactly the same problem. You may want to take a look at Jiayu G5 (if it's still available), or Xiaomi Redmi 2. Both have quad core processors, memory card slots, although no Lollipop. Xiaomi Redmi 2, depending on the version, has 2 GB RAM.
I heard great things about the Moto E as well, though that's really a budget phone (albeit not that much cheaper) with Lollipop, low MP camera (which she may deem important to know), but only 1 GB RAM.
That market is difficult.

Most important thing , what is your budget ?

It is on my short list. My wife has Redmi 3 and it is pretty good phone. Battery endurance is shocking.
But Redmi 2 i pretty wide: 67 mm while S4 mini was only 61 mm

She was usually able to kill battery in her previous Samsung galaxy s3 i9300 within 1 day. With Redmi 3 she was not able to go below 3 days. Usually lasts 4-5 days. .
She does not play but do heavy web browsing.

Yep. You get 8 core snapdragon with 4000mAh battery, decent built quality. I think it is currently the best deal for 5" phone worldwide.
Just have to root and get rid of chinese crap or load multilanguage developer rom.
It is no worse then my 5.5" Lenovo Vibe P1 costing over 100$ more.

The A3 is more than enough , she's just a girl so i guess she only uses social media apps and some light games , in my opinion the A3 is a pretty good deal.

I have done some research and heard the Ainol Aurora II or Flame/Burning are good tablets. So much so that I orderd 2 of the Aurora II's for myself. If I remember I will come back and post my thoughts on them after they arrive.

If possible, get the Nexus 7. Seems like the best deal. I bought a bunch of Kindle Fires last year - and now wish I had the Nexus 7's instead.

You should be able to find the S2 used on eBay (et cetera) in your price range. At least, I saw them around $200USD when I was looking about 4 months ago.

Xiaomi Phone 2s - $320 - 8MP camera - 1.7GHZ

So beautiful
http://liliputing.com/2013/04/xiaom...+Liliputing+(Liliputing)&utm_content=FaceBook
The Xiaomi Phone 2S is a $320 smartphone with a 4.3 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel display, a 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
It has a 2000mAh battery and an 8MP camera. There’s also a 32GB model which sells for about $370. And those prices are without any subsidies from wireless carriers.
On paper, it sounds pretty competitive with the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S IV, both of which will ship with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor in the US (The international version of Samsung’s phone will feature an Exynos 5 Octa).
The Xiaomi Phone 2A is a cheaper model with a starting price of about $240. It has a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm MSM8260A dual-core processor, a 4.5 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, ad 16GB of storage.
Both phones feature MIUI v5 software. It’s based on Android, but it has a user interface that’s been redesigned to look a bit more iPhone-like. The latest update also includes call recording, support for walkie-talkie type messaging, and more.
Just like a Nexus 4! But cheaper.

Yeah as long as you support a device that breaks the gpl laws. Not to mention a group that takes the hardwork of others and then makes it closed sourced so they can make money off of it.

Got one => benchs
hi there,
got my hands on a unit (16GB). Aspect is exactly like Mi2. You can't tell.
Miui software strictly co,patible, as I flashed it with a 3.4.12, works like a charm.
Here's a first bench, not bad ...
or link http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=834899IMG201304171427291.jpg
Got one too, not bad
Got one too, left my HTC Sensation in a cab and couldn't retrieve it (despite having lookout installed..worthless). Basically came down to deciding between Xiaomi 2S, SGSIII, or Note II. Ended up with the Xiaomi 2S 16GB due to price (USD400) and nice internal specs. Couldn't justify spending so much more for not that many more features that I personally use in the other devices. I'm not a fan of MIUI, I'm using APEX Launcher.
The camera is pretty amazing IMO even though I just have the 8MP version, seems 32GB 13MP version is sold out most everywhere.

Why there is no separated thread for Xiaomi MI2S ? There must be plenty of roms available or am i fooling myself ?

Your fooling your self. There will be no rom threads for this device here due to the OEM lack of GPL compliance.

That means they dont release the kernel source code which they are required to. As long as they dont there will be no roms/threads posted here.

[Q] Could you recommend me a phone with these specs?

Hi, I'm trying to get a cellphone, between $100 - $175 dollars at the most but mostly with these specs, I don't need anything expensive right now, since this would be a gift:
RAM: 768 MB - 1GB
Processor: does not matter
Camera: 5MP at least
OS: Android
Could you recommend some models? I would appreciate the help, thank you!
I recommend you 1GB RAM, I have a galaxy ace 2 with 768mb of ram and you can notice the lack of ram.
Don't recommend samsung, makes a lot of models and left unupdated the old ones despite they are quite capable.
xiaomi red rice seems a good option although it seems a bit difficult to get nowadays. Jiayu phones are not bad and ZTE, zopo and THL W100 seems good options.
Hope this helps, may be if you had a list of the phones you are able to buy we cold help you more

I've looked these ones:
Lenovo A820
Huawei Ascen Y300
LG Optimus L5
Any idea? thanks for the suggestions!
My preferences are the order you wrote
The best option is Lenovo A820 : 1GB Ram, 8mp camera, better screen resolution
The other two only have 512mb Ram, and 5 mp camera. Huawei has better screen resolution than lg.
Hope this helps.

Yeah! the only problem is that it has no flash but all the other specs are quite better. Yo could try moto G as says on the other message.

Well, Moto G must be above $200 dollars, which is not an option, this is a gift that I will give in the meantime, while this person does not get her new phone from the provider, and she needs one now; I did not know about the Xiaomi one, but the price exceeds the limit, thanks for the suggestions!

The OnePlus Nord has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, alongside up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Vivo V20, however, carries an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM. within the end, Nord features a better processor and it's also future-proof because it has 5G connectivity. For more information review this informatin https://productz.com/en/vivo-y20/p/4eKn
I also have tried y20. its battery performance is excellent.
one plus x
from which perspective you need comparison bro, according to speed text comparison I mostly prefered One Plus and advised others to go with One Plus, but mainly in "front Camera" Compersion no doubt Vivo is good just because of its beautyCAM features, But if you could find a phone that has same specification as Vivo or One Plus, then my suggestion is still same you have to go with the One Plus, No doubt in India this is best company ever, unionwells france
