I'm a real Noobie both to this forum and to Android devices, anyway, I have installed a GA2114 head unit and all works fine but I was considering a slight mod to the installation. Instead of connecting the head to the ACC line I am considering connecting it to a permanent live. I know this will put a slight drain on the battery but I am thinking it will be a bit like closing the lid of a laptop and putting the unit into sleep mode when the head unit is switched off.
Before I make it permanent I will check the current drain using a multimeter and, if it is low enough for it to be a viable proposition, can anyone tell me if it is likely to have any detrimental effect on the Android system itself.
As witth my laptops I would not leave it in "sleep" mode continuously, I'd probably give it a full reboot about once a week (I would have a switch to cut the supply mounted in the glovebox).
Can anyone advise me on this? Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for your reply and advice, being a bit of chancer I went ahead with the mod and connected the HU ACC line to the permanently live line via an in line fuse and isolating switch. The current draw with the HU switched off is 1.4 milliamps, that is a lot less than my ECU, on board trip computer, clock, etc. so I don't see it as being a problem.
The mod had the desired effect, bypassing the boot stage from "sleep" mode and starting in the last used configuration. If I encounter any problems with this setup I will report them on this site so that others tempted to do the same can learn by my mistakes.
For long term parking, airports etc., the supply can be killed by the isolating switch should anyone be worried about getting a flat battery.
Many thanks again for your reply. :good::good:
Hello, I have a fake Samsung (Chinese) smartphone. It used to work but, It was lost and I found it. Battery gone bigger and now screen is a little bit apart of the case (like 3-4 mm).
Now I would like to use this smartphone without battery. I researched a little bit and I found a video of an Indian guy on youtube that shows which wire will be soldered to where. (Because I am new, I can't insert links to this post. The video is "Use your phone without a battery....USB phone.....Works for android like charm" on Youtube.)
But his smartphone has 3 terminals and mine has 4 of them. I am not sure of where to solder them. Can you help me, please?

Recently I bought a smartwatch from AliExpress. It's not amazing but it's ok.
But I'm having some problems with the screen, it's rounded and it uses regular Android 5.1 OS, and with that I can't reach the edges sometimes, and that make the use experience really bad.
My question is: is there anyway to resize the screen so I can make the edges fill the center of the screen? Not all the time, cuz' that would kill some other use experience, but when I want/need to.
Thanks:good:
