Need CSC files from US T-Mobile Galaxy S7 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Hi! I am investigating how to enable Wi-Fi calling with T-mobile SIM on non-T-mobile branded (generic) Galaxy S7. I narrowed it down to settings in a few system files. I need a copy of these files from Somebody who has US T-mobile Galaxy S7. Basically I am looking for all xml files located under /features/csc/. On my phone they are are others.xml and customer.xml.
I will appreciate if somebody could fetch these files and post/send it to me. If I manage to make this work the results will be of benefit to the whole community.
1. Enable USB debugging ( no need to root or modify your phone in any way)
2. Install adb (instructions)
3. Execute the following commands:
Code:
adb pull /system/csc/customer.xml
adb pull /system/csc/others.xml
4. Post here or send me directly these files.
Thanks!

I am more interested in WiFi calling but VoLTE options seems to be managed in the same way. If we find solution to enable one, other will follow for sure.
The first glance at XML files is little discouraging. They look very different from ones I have on generic model. On generic model I have WiFi calling options seems to be limited to certain operators, and I thought all I need is to add T-mobile US to this list. Apparently G930T firmware is different. I will be experimenting with it more and will post updates.

Wow, if you can get this to work, this would be a satisfactory solution to me. I will not buy a phone that's not rootable, but if an Exynos version can get all the T-Mobile goodies, I'm sold. Good luck!

Not sure if it sways anyone's decision but T-Mobile announced more enhanced calling stuff this week which would be more features not available on the intl

I wanted to report back my results. It looks like T-mobile firmware substantially different from others and config files do not match.
One thing I tried is to add US T-mobile networks from T-mobile CSC files to list of network which allow Wi-Fi calling in EE firmware CSC files. This did not help.

Do you think a T-mobile S6 Marshmallow will help? the S6 having an exynos processor may make it's CSC more in line with the S7 International

I tried German T-Mobile firmware, and it did not help either.

How will you push the new CSC files without root?

Are those csc could from an exnyos phone?

Any progress? Vzaliva?

It wont work im almost 100% the kernel needs to be modded or a tmobile kernel used.

I'm new to this, but is it possible to get T-Mobile WiFi-Calling & VoLTE on Hong Kong variant S7/ edge? They both have snapdragon processors, but the hong kong one is bootloader unlockable.

Here a t-mobile flashable csc throught recovery, for s7. I tested on my sm-g930f. No volte, no wifi callings, hd voice etc.

International S7, T-Mobile's wifi calling and VOLTE, and custom ROMs

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying the S7 and (thanks to this forum) have researched the (T-mobile) "carrier" version with SnapDragon processor vs. the International non-carrier version with Exynos processor. Seems like the latter is generally preferred, with 2 drawbacks:
1) Not compatible with T-Mobile's wifi calling;
2) No VOLTE
My only remaining questions are:
1) It seems as though with most unlocked / non-carrier smartphone models, custom ROMs are usually made available that enable carrier-specific features, but it seems like no such ROMs have yet been developed and widely circulated to enable T-Mobile's wifi calling or VOLTE. Is it typically just a matter of WHEN, rather than IF, such ROMs usually get into circulation? IOW, even though I'll be without those features on the Exynos S7 for now, can I buy the phone with confidence that in the not too distant future there SHOULD be a ROM to enable these? (Wifi calling is actually rather important to me since my gf's apt is a dead zone.)
2) Can someone ELI5 VOLTE to me? I'm still note entirely sure what it is / does, and want to evaluate how much I should care if my Exynos S7 doesn't support this...
Exynos does support volte. I am using it and it works fine.

Would you mind explaining how you got it working? Did you have to do anything other than change your CSC? I changed my CSC to T-Mobile US and I now have the option to enable wifi calling, however when I turn it on it just hangs there saying 'Enabling'.

Yep that's what I used. I did a clean install of the SuperMan rom and used CSC changer again...same issue, it hangs at Enabling. Even went back to stock rom and it does the same thing.
Finally, I installed the Note 7 OnTheEdge rom like you said and it appears to be working, I now see the wifi calling notification at the top left and I get the volte icon when i'm not connected to wifi. I wonder if anyone has been able to get it to work on other roms?

It works now. I do super man rom. Search that thread how to do it. You have to flash zto csc then boot then flash TMB csc. Then Switch a couple toggles.

Getting a T-Mobile S7 & flashing or converting to US/stock firmware (SM-G930U)?

I'm thinking of getting an Galaxy S7 (T-Mobile version, SM-G930T) for my wife to replace her Nexus 4 which is on T-Mobile prepaid but my concern is "carrier bloat" that T-Mobile installed on the phone.
1. Is it possible to convert this phone to the regular US/stock version of the S7 which i believe is SM-G930UZKAXAA, I believe? I did some Googling and I see some discussions about "Odin" which I assume is the software to flash/convert the SM-G930T to the SM-G930U version?
2. Will Samsung Pay still work after converting it from the T-Mobile version to the US/stock version?
3. Any issues/disadvantages/problems to be aware of between the T-Mobile specific and non T-Mobile firmware to consider, in consideration of whether or not to convert?
Thanks, David
G930U and G935U firmware is maded for any US version that IS ALREADY UNLOCKED and want to convert it so you can remove all bloat preinstalled apps from the carrier and use the phone like it was G935F or G930F..
1- you can flash the U firmware on any US varaint Sprint, T-Mobile, ATT, but will REQUIRED a unlocked cell, and the bootloader had to be low or same as the U you want to flash.
2- will work, i already test it.
3- none, the U firmware is official from samsung and is created for that.. to be flashable on S7 unlocked for take it for overseas.
PS: its the same as g930F so mobile data icon will be enable, wifi call will not be there... and you can use bluetooh sharing.. etc.. but t-mobile features will be removed, if you have more experience you can enable them back.

I use a stock US galaxy s7 from T-Mobile, SM-G930T. From what I can tell it shouldn't cause any problems as it's not a custom Rom but stock firmware you can download directly from Samsung website.
I did some searching and found a few posts about sm-g930u extending battery life over sm-g930t with tmobile bloatware (can't say for certain as I've not tried myself).
In all it shouldn't harm functionally since it's stock firmware.
Hope this helps.

I extensively tested the U firmware before moving to T firmware (because I moved to the T-M side of Tracfone; the phone itself is ex-VZW); I have had exactly zero issues (with either U firmware or T firmware).
A tidbit; as a SM-G930T, you have access to both VoLTE *and* wi-fi calling - this was not the case for even VZW-native customers, let alone MVNO customers. (This has, in fact, been covered in the Verizon Wireless thread for the same phone.) It does not matter if you are merely using an MVNO (such as Tracfone). NO free Netflix, though. (Mice.)

Unlocked SM-G955U

Last year's S7/S7edge had a different model number for each carrier (G935A/T/V/P/R4), but this year they all seem to be using the 955U model with different CSCs for each carrier.
I noticed on SamMobile there's an unbranded firmware available for the G955U with the XAS CSC, what CSC is that? Generic?
The reason I ask this is that because these US variant phones get imported to Pakistan and some people buy them since they're cheaper than the officially sold G955F models here, so if a G955U gets imported here which for example was previously used on T-Mobile in the USA, if one flashes the XAS ROM, will it basically be an unbranded Snapdragon 835 S8+ or is removing the carriers CSC not possible?
All replies will be appreciated.
Cheers

The U version is locked and not able to root. It's used by all USA carriers and they probably made it locked down due to Samsung pay. At some point a root crack will surface but it probably won't be stable

I don't need root though.
Just the possibility of flashing an unbranded ROM with no bloat, something that won't be used with US carriers.

You cannot flash firmware without rooting on this device. That's my point. When you try flashing in Odin, nothing happens. That's why you cannot root or even flash things. Got it? You need root in this case.
I think we are after the same thing; xas is sprint from my understanding. xaa should be the "unlocked" carrier neutral you are looking for. There is a thread in the s8 forum where some people had success flashing parts of the Canadian firmware then refreshing parts of us firmware they had quasi obtained this but I have yet to try
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/rd-carrier-switch-root-snapdragon-t3597473
I read somewhere that only G955f models can change CSC firmware using Odin.
G955U models won't be able to... I could be wrong...
Then again, we won't really know until someone buys the U model and tries it out for themselves.

im using a 955f (so could be different on your phone), but just turn the phone around, on mine the S/N stands printed on the bottom of the backside, you can slightly see it ->here<-
and also I'm really not sure about that, but i believe some Serial/IMEI/whatever-numbers do stand in download mode
EDIT: By what i've found google'in, on the 955U, just the IMEI is printed. Sorry

Conversion from SM-N986W to SM-N986U/U1: Still possible?

Hi guys, quick question... My good old Note 9 (Canadian variant: SM-N960W) is flashed with an unlocked/unbranded US firmware (SM-960U1), and everything's working flawlessly (Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, OTA updates, etc.). The main reason I did it: Canadian carriers are useless morons, they take weeks/months to release updates, and I've been more than happy with the quick updates I get with the US firmware installed.
I would like to do the same with my Canadian Note 20 Ultra I will receive Friday, but I want to make sure it's still possible, with "Odin Patched", to flash a firmware from a different region on the Note 20 Ultra.
Someone on XDA did it? Did it go well, and did it break something?
Many thanks

Thanks for the heads-up, I didn't thought about 5G, but glad to hear it's still possible to do it (flash a firmware from a different region) without bricking the device. I'll probably pick faster updates over 5G for now, considering I live in the middle of nowhere and have access to LTE only anyway
I have a Rogers Note 20 Ultra, I will wait for the updates because here in this part of Ontario, has 5G for whatever reason. I really enjoy streaming Xbox games from the cloud. Almost no delay.
You should be able to flash U or U1 firmware using patched Odin. Just make sure if you have a carrier locked version (not sure if thats a thing in Canada) to have it SIM unlocked before flashing anything, especially if you plan on changing carriers ever. After going to U1 firmware, you can access the service mode menus to enable bands for LTE, NR 5G and DSS. Canada uses 5G bands n38, n66 and n71 and DSS. The only band I don't see available in the US firmware is n38, although it may be available under another CSC like WWD or GCF. I have included a screenshot of the bands I've enabled under the Verizon CSC.
Has anyone with an N986W been able to flash the U1 firmware yet?
Has anyone tried it already? if its possible to flash SM-N986W to U or U1
Did anyone flashed SM-N986W to u or U1. Can you share the experience Please.

This can be fixed by flashing the home_CSC file of your carrier and then there are many other ways to fix this. So take this information lightly.

This can be fixed by flashing the home_CSC file of your carrier and then there are many other ways to fix this. So take this information lightly. Also he never said he was able to do it, he just had a U1 device.

What he said :good:. Also you would be able to get on Beta on which a lot of 5G things were fixed / enabled so in fact that might work for you.
Only things i would want you to check before flashing the US firmware is:
1. Is it a dual sim phone? If No you are good.
2. Do you have E-sim Capability enabled? If No you are good.
3. What variant is your phone ? If Snapdragon you are good.
ohh if you are flashing US firmware flash the U1, no need to flash U firmware. Do check if you are sim unlocked because in case you are not and in future you want to sim unlock your device you will have to be on Carrier Firmware, if you plan to stay with your carrier for a long long time and or if you are sim unlocked this should not be of a concern.

Just as a heads up for future reference all Canadian new phone since December 2018 are Sim unlocked
For anyone still wanting to convert their N986W to US unlocked N986U1 I just wanted to say its possible. I used modified Odin and put the U1 firmware on my N986W. I was then able to install the 3 beta's. After a couple of days I switched back to the Canadian firmware. So for anyone wanting to try it, you should be good to go.

Hello,
I have a n986w (freedom locked) and i was wondering does every band work with u1? Or do we have to manually enable bands from service mode? And if i may ask where did you find modified odin and u1 firmware? And why did you roll back? I am still new to samsung phones, i had my fair share of modding android in past but sammy does thing bit differently so i am but confused about everything

Your N986W with freedom is probably not sim locked. I know mine isn't and someone earlier in the thread said that phones in Canada aren't sim locked anymore. So you should be able to proceed. When I switched to the U1 firmware I was receiving LTE signal on freedom. I did not test any other bands as I was just in my living room. There is a guide here on xda regarding enabling all the bands and there is a link to it from the thread I followed in order to switch to the U1 firmware. The link to modified Odin and U1 firmware is also in the same thread. The thread OP is warriorvibhu and its about switching from U to U1 firmware but you can follow it just the same and you can find that thread and the thread for sideloading the beta in the Guides, News and Discussion section. Sorry I couldn't add a link for you I have limited time right now. I rolled back because I just wanted to see if it could be done or not. The instructions were straightforward. Good luck and enjoy.

Yes my phone is not sim locked. it is in fact unlocked. Does this trip knox? and will I receive OTA updates after I switch to Oneui 3.0? or will I have to manually flash beta otas?

It did not trip knox as its official firmware. You will have to manually flash the betas. Also, when you get the U1 firmware, make sure that you download the one ending in ATID. That is the one required for the beta. I read both the guide for the beta flashing and the guide for flashing the U1 firmware before I proceeded. Also make sure you remove sim card b4 flashing U1. Have sim in when sideloading the betas and be careful you don't accidentally take an update between U1 and beta or you will have to re-flash ATID.

I'm going to try this! Would you link me to where I need to download everything? Will test if 5G will still work or not. I am with Rogers in a 5G area. But is it even worth it to use as a daily?

Reflash AT&T 20 Ultra to Unlocked Firmware?

I've looked through threads of people doing the reverse of this. It's been a few years since I've had an android and was running nexus devices then. What's the process to flash an unlocked firmware on an AT&T locked 968U to the 968U1 firmware (assuming there aren't issues doing it)?
Are there any other pitfalls I need to be aware of prior to doing it other than the wifi calling?
If this is already posted somewhere else, please feel free to point me there. I didn't see any info about going from a carrier locked 968U to unlocked firmware.
Thanks in advance.

I just did this today went from TMB locked one to unlocked (For a family member) mine is unlocked. All went well no problems at all. Just download the U1 Firmware you want to flash and for CSC use home_csc (In ODin) so you can keep your data and probably the wifi calling feature too ( i did that all features are intact). Use the Odin and firmware from Ota and non Ota thread . Enjoy

What did you gain that made it worth it for you? Also, I'm on a Locked ATT/Firstnet Ultra and am wondering if flashing to an Unlocked Firmware would give me more control of my device.

If your on FirstNet I recommend that you stay on ATT branded software, I'm not sure if band 14 will work properly for you if you are on unlocked software. Thank you for your service!

You can get VoLTE back, but yeah, WiFi calling is not gonna happen.

The thread is for T-Mobile, but most of it works with AT&T devices as well.

I flashed the U1 firmware (ATJ3) onto my AT&T Note Ultra, then flashed the Home CSC from the AT&T U firmware. I have VoLTE and WiFi calling.
Help!
Hello all, I have a Note 20 Ultra 5g that is unlocked and I'm looking to flash the original ATT firmware for this device.
Having this unlocked version on Firstnet has been nothing but problems and I don't have access to band 14 or wifi calling.
I see this thread is a little old but if anyone could help me out or send me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!
I have rooted some of my older phones several several years ago so I think I could pick this back up pretty quickly. I know over the years things seem to get easier and have probably changed quite a bit since I've last done something like this.
Thanks in advance!

My comment was made before we were able to change IMS settings directly.
You can get it all now. VoLTE, WiFI Calling, RCS, Video calling...

AT&T hasn't released any "official" firmware for the Note 20 series.
Since Samsung firmware is multi CSC, just flash any firmware with the same build number as the AT&T variant and use your AT&T SIM card.
Go to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/ota-and-non-ota-firmware-for-n986u-and-n986u1.4143833/
Make sure you know what device you have, U or U1. Then grab the appropriate version.
Fir AT&T U devices, N986USQU2DUCA or N986USQU2DUCA will work.
For AT&T U1 devices, N986U1UEU2DUCB is the most recent version.
