Hello. I'm looking for a way to use Snapchat app on PC for certain stuff that I can't do on my phone. Like uploading pictures / videos from my PC, saving stuff etc without going through hassles on the phones.
However Snapchat app is very special. It doesn't work correctly on the most emulators that I've tried so far. What do I mean by saying "doesn't work"? Crashing , rebooting system. For example in Genymotion (the most stable, and usuable emulator so far) the snapchat doesn't work since 2014 and it hasn't been fixed: app just crash right after I launch.
I had to use bloatware emulator Bluestacks, but last version from March 31 somehow managed to break compatibility with blue stacks and now its crashing too.
I want to use Snapchat in Genymotion, but I can't since its crashing. I downloaded a lot popular apps in games via Google Store like instagram, facebook, kik and even games. Everything single app I tried so far is working perfectly fine in Genymotion. Everything except Snapchat. Are there any reason why snapchat doesn't want to work in emulators? Maybe I'm just missing something and there is some workaround?

Some emulators are known to not be compatible with Snapchat.
You may try Andy The Android Emulator (Win/Mac)

on 3.2 rooted. Just got this yesterday. I notice no facebook app.. or yahoo app... I tried Gtalk but gtalk runs terribly (logs me in and out constantly claiming server issues or something) I need a video chat app like yahoo messenger. or skype. Something comeon. Also the lack of facebook app worries me. Is xoom going to get either of these? also i like playing asphalt 6 and gt racing from gameloft. are those compatible. Does anyone know if i have to rebuy them for every device? Also any tips for neat stuff to do with xoom? (already have netflix)

Personally I use the browser for Facebook. In terms of the other apps, just check out the market. You should see the tablet specific section...there are plenty of great apps that work well with Xoom. Check out the Apps section.
how is snapchat on the honor 8 , i heard that its very buggy but i would like to know how it preforms and the video and image quality on snapchat? also heard that instagram is buggy please let me know your experience with these 3rd party camera apps.
I can tell u that snapchat don't work on my rooted H7, and it's the root part that is the problem.. So i think it's Like that for many phones, if rooted No snapchat
It came preinstalled with instagram for me. (LR09 in Belgium from Vmall) Uninstalled it immediately so can't speak about performance.
I assume it works decently since it came preinstalled.

I haven't had any issues with either Snapchat or Instagram on my phone, and I use both apps often for some projects I'm involved with. Both apps push out updates often enough that issues are usually resolved fairly quickly, so any issues may have been resolved before I got my phone.

Nice document. For me though it's not really the Google apps that I can't substitue, I hardly use any anyway. It's mainly apps that don't work because of GMS.
i have to say that having had this phone for a few days and trying to use it without play services it was becoming a struggle for me.
I downloaded as many of my apps i use from the app store and 3rd party sites but its just not the same. I forgot how much information i had stored with google like passwords and login details etc.
I managed to install the play services yesterday and so far everything seems fine, no errors and everything i used on other android devices available and working. Dont think i would have kept it otherwise even though the build quality and specs are amazing.
For those of you in doubt who have been a long time android user its really worth the effort with the installation.

Which guide did you follow? I see one on XDA and other ones floating around the web. Did you run into any issues or did the guide works step by step?
I followed the one on here which does not use a usb you plug in the phone. The video is in German and a but hard to follow at times and did face a few issues but I think that was because I had missed a step. I then found a similar video on YouTube that had some English on it and managed to figure it out.
Search an app called 'MoreAPP' in AppGalary, it has the apps you are missing.
there is one called 'Youtube Vanced' which doesn't require GMS

You can sign into YouTube Vanced without GMS. You just need to install MicroG. Not root required too.

I followed the same guide and everything but the notifications works. Only notifications from a few apps work. All apps that require the Google services to get the notifications (about 85% for me) do not seem to work.
I too didn't managed to login with MicroG and without GMS...
Think it would be useful to update the list to include apps e.g. works 100% (Facebook) works ok but no notifications (BBC News) or does not work at all (eBay, The Athletic).
The more digging that I do the more it seems that other than getting some of the core Google apps to work the difference between using a P40 Pro with and without the GPS hack is actually quite minimal as I understand that the hack may help you say get Photos working but it will not help you get all of the notifications that still rely on GPS?

It's funny that you mentioned eBay and The Athletic as they are two apps that I use quite regularly and am having the same issue - is there any way around this without installing GMS?
My P40 Pro only arrived a couple of days ago and I really like the look and feel of it but the notifications thing is already bugging me. Currently, I'm only HMS (no micro-G or GMS) but not being able to get notifications from the stock email app (my account is Gmail) or news notifications from BBC etc. is a real flag for me...

install microG and move on .. notifications are completely screwed on HMS-naked .. even Huawei App Gallery apps are screwed-up with notifications .. very strange that this is often overlooked in the P40 Pro reviews ... how can you answer a skype call if the app never rings with a notification?

When after I updated some of my applications who was working perfectly, like Twitter, Spotify, LinkedIn or PayPal for example, via Aurora Store like I usually do, thoose apps now refuse to work. I can see the splash screen, and then they close immediately...
I tried to update via another .apk provider like APKpure or APPtoid, and still have this issues.
The only way I have for now to use these apps is to uninstall theme and install an older version of theme.
Am I the only one who ran into these annoying bugs ?
Does somebody have any clues or fix for thoose ?

I know it's a while back, but if you don't have fixed it yet and for anybody with the same issue.
I have a Huawei Matepad 11 and had the same issue.
I used this video to solve the problem.
So basically if you use aurora store, like I do, you go to settings->apps and services->apps->AppGalary and force stop it. Then go to storage and clear cache and data.
Don't open AppGalary again.
After that then you can install apps again via aurora store. Works for YouTube vanced and other apps that you sideload from other sources.

I have just installed tarkzim's Lineage OS 18.1 - the latest - version on my Z5 without Gapps. Unfortunately it turns out to be unusable because of a serious bug (at least on my phone it shows, and I have no better name for it than to call it a bug): launching the browser (indispensable on a smartphone) crashes the whole system and causes an immediate reboot.
I wonder if anyone else has encountered the same problem or if there is someone who has been able to fix this or has a workaround at least.
Otherwise I hope that the developer reads this here, too, and will look into the problem. For now my Xperia is bricked, but I will follow the development and forthcoming versions, of course, hoping for improvements.
I have another mobile - so I can live with that bricked one for a while ;-)

I´ve got basically the same bug, but managed to play around a bit further. From what I could gather, the Phone crashes and reboots every time I open certain apps. I have Gapps istalled and notized two problems.
Crashes and reboot on startup of certain apps, like Chrome, pre istalled browser, Outlook, G-Mail, Mattermost or Amazon Shopping. Other apps seem to do fine. Firefox, k-9 Mail, Whatsapp, Telegram, Sotify work more or less without a problem.
Crashes and reboot on sign in. From the few that I tested, Vanced was the most interesting one because I could open and play Youtube Videos normally but it always crashed when I tried to log in. I could login through microg but since then my phone started to crash and reboot every few minutes. Uninstalling all vanced related apps did not solve the problem. Some apps crashed on sign in and since then werent able to get running again.
I really like the Lineage version, and I wouldn´t even mind finding the "working" apps using them (does´nt really matter to me if I use Chrome or Firefox) but certain apps I need to work like Mattermost.
I hope someone could help with our problem because I really want Lineage to work on the Z5. It feels so... clean and smooth.
Good to hear that someone else has similar issues with this LineageOS version - and regrettable, too, of course. Even without GApps it is unusable so far. But I really hope that this version is not the 'last word', and will continue improving. I know it is a big task for a programmer.
I have just seen that a new version is available. When I find the time, I will replace the version on my phone with the new one and report.
