Facebook app virus alert/google detected a virus popup - Security Discussion

(SOLVED) SHE WIPED HER PHONE.
My girlfriend and I where discussing an old app I went to go find it, found an apk because the app is no longer available on the market, installed it, it refreshed her memory of it, so then she was scrolling through the facebook app for android when a popup (thread topic) came up from her feed like an app starting up she said something to me, I checked it out, while doing so I checked the running windows it showed up with facebook in the background, but the popup had no app name it was blank, so I closed it out, uninstalled the app I had recently put on there, downloaded a few anti-virus apps, and anti-malware apps and ran them nothing came up on anything, so figured was all good until she was scrolling facebook again, and the same thing happened.
Am I missing a step far as removing this problem, I read somewhere that a lot of old apks are interwoven with malware, and also open a back door to steal info.
During the last scan the phone died as I got to the charger, now waiting on it to charge up.
Has anyone dealt with an issue like this yet?

To me it looks like one of those ads like "fix your phone now, it has viruses that can steal your info"... I think it's just adware [emoji1]

Why would it only pop up while she's using facebook?
Sent from my LG-H345 using XDA-Developers mobile app

Well she got tired of it so she wiped her phone, and the problem went away.

Some sort of grayware on my phone?

I noticed this notification in my status bar:

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

And when I tap on it, it takes me to one of those freeipad websites. I opened up TasKiller to see if there are any apps open that seem unfamiliar, but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I also tried googling for it, but found nothing. Does anyone know what this is, or how I would go about finding out what it is?
Thanks.
It honestly sounds like a virus.
Did you install anything recently on your device?

Search for an app called "Addons detector" and run the scan, then look under push, whatever app shows up is causing the problem. My mom had the same thing on her phone recently.

Did you download a TV listings app by chance? That's what was causing the exact same issue on her defy. Removed the tvlistings app and they stopped.

I've actually had one for a while now, but I'll remove it to see if the notifications stops.

A better question would be: How can we keep our forum clean, inviting, and informative to newbies and still dev without having to deal with useless posts, clutter, and trolling?

I don't have an answer, but i'm sure glad to see someone else got it. Not sure if similar to what happened to you, but here's what happened to me:
Got a notification that had what I thought was the GameLoft logo. I have Asphalt7 installed and the notification said something like: "You've been idling too long. It's time to hit the pedal"
I had rooted my phone the night before and had the SuperUser app supplying su. I tapped the notification and it flickered the screen a bit and I got "shell granted root access" message a few times. The audit log in SuperUser showed "shell" granted access.
I never allowed "shell" access. I've since installed the SuperSU app instead of SuperUser since it logs the actual operations which an app is doing as root. I've been waiting since for the notification to pop up but no luck so far. I've opened each and every app I have installed in the hopes that it'd try to get root but nothing yet...
Would you mind sharing what apps you have installed? I'd like to see if any overlap with mine.
Did you delete superuser then after installing supersu?
Did your log look like this?

I have noticed games sometimes do that . I usually just leave bad comments on the play store cause their is no reason they should be requesting that.

That is exactly how it looked like. I deleted SuperUser, yes. But only after installing SuperSU.

Just speculating here, but I think some games try to figure out if you're using a legit copy. Some other games may also check to see if your phone is rooted and perhaps refuse some functionality in the game.

[Solved] What is causing morning solicitations of Apps?

Screen shot attached.
I've gone through my running applications, stoped any that I thought even might have something to do with it, but it is still there. With my work hours, I sleep till 11a. So it shows up sometime between 5a and then. Yesterday the green plus sign was a red star. Same advertisement type stuff.
Clicking on the link it goes from ad.leadboltapps.com something or another to some other app url to something with a .UK and them to the Play Store.

cool !!! nice post
I've had "Go Keyboard" spam me with ads too. Root and permission management (permissions Pro on market) cured it, but w/o root, then you basically get rid of the app or live with spam...
Later,
Jason
AirBlocker from the play store has worked well for me.
Ringdroid uses air push ads. Download the app AddOns Dectector to see what apps use what kind of ads

The spam comes and goes, try the same app after they update it and see if it's good to go or it still sends spam. It's part of the free Android world....

Only way to get rid of a virus on android is to factory reset it, if you are unable to reset it normally you can go into recovery mode and from there you can Reset.
The "You Need Antivirus" dialogue itself is just an advertisement. You probably installed an application recently that keeps making Ad shortcuts on your homescreen. And all these ads are just slowing your phone down. What app did you install before this started to happen? Try deleting the most recent installed apps and see if it fixes the problem!
Please press the thanks button if i helped!

Actually that ad that shows on home screen when I press download it leads me to clean master itself..I do have clean master for a long time now..seems the last option is to back up and hard reset

hmm well you need to rememeber what app you installed around the time you began seeing the ads. If you can't remember then try using "Ad-Network Scanner & Detector" from the Play Store. It will probably help you identify the application causing these Ads

Looks like you installed Control Center.
Or you got your HTC too close to an iPhone and it caught a disease.
Noooo not ios! Sad! But let's see. Recently installed smart launcher and kk locker. Might be the launcher but I've been using smart launcher on my s3 for a long time and never seen this. Hmm...

Haha, well it definitely looks like one of the several iOS control center clones.
Here's another one that looks closer to the one you have.
I did just get the 4.4.4 ota but I don't think that's it.

No, it's not a stock app at all.
It's something you've installed...
Ok finally figured it out. It's Quick Panel that's part of the KK Locker lock screen app
