Some sort of grayware on my phone? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I noticed this notification in my status bar:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And when I tap on it, it takes me to one of those freeipad websites. I opened up TasKiller to see if there are any apps open that seem unfamiliar, but I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I also tried googling for it, but found nothing. Does anyone know what this is, or how I would go about finding out what it is?
Thanks.

It honestly sounds like a virus.
Did you install anything recently on your device?

Search for an app called "Addons detector" and run the scan, then look under push, whatever app shows up is causing the problem. My mom had the same thing on her phone recently.

Did you download a TV listings app by chance? That's what was causing the exact same issue on her defy. Removed the tvlistings app and they stopped.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it found nothing under 'push notifications.'

I've actually had one for a while now, but I'll remove it to see if the notifications stops.

It should fix it. Lemme know.

A better question would be: How can we keep our forum clean, inviting, and informative to newbies and still dev without having to deal with useless posts, clutter, and trolling?

@OP, thanks for using my rom!

Try it out, and tell me things that will make me better. If you think it is good than please rate it, and leaving a comment saying so on the market. If you think it sucks, than please send me an e-mail or PM about why you think so. Thanks! Oh and please please please rate it! It really helps the app, I think. I sort of updated it. Its sorta like version 1.5 right now. I am going to try to make version 2.0 that has all of the things that you guys suggested.

Steam Droid Chat

Steam friends app for Android, for mobile chatting with friends on Valve's Steam platform.
I've released version 1.1 yesterday, after a fail with the certificates used for signing the apk. Some people have reported issues with the new version, stating the app claims to be incompatible with their phones.
Now on my phone it still works, I think it might have something to do with the previous version still being installed on the phone. So I recommend removing any previous versions before installing.
You can find the app by searching for 'Steam Droid Chat' on the Android Market. It's the one with the green logo (there's another app with a similar name, please note that my app is free).
The source is available at GitHub, I'll post a link as soon as I'm allowed to do so.
Please let me know what you think and if you encounter any bugs.
Edit: I noticed the title is incorrect, I'm sorry for that, could a moderator change it? It's an app and the minimum Android version is 2.2.
Amazing app!
I can finaly chat with my friends on the road
You could add user name and password on start screen. It's kinda hard to find it.
So here is link for the app (in QR code format)

Well, I used a library for that. Search bitbucket for SteamRE, run by VoiDeD.
So I didn't actually do any Steam related code in the app.
I guess this question will arise sooner or later so let's get this out of the way:
How is our login info treated? Where is it sent and how? My Steam account is quite valuable and I'm not taking any chances with it.
I mean no disrespect, I've been waiting for an app like this for ages.

I also want to know if this app is trustworthy with login info.
Also, is there any chance of getting group chat on this app? That would be really nice.
Thanks great app

Can i just say I love you?
Just curious on safety of this app?

I'm also curious as to how secure this is. Please explain it.
There's an official Steam client with chat support now, so, yeah.

[Solved] What is causing morning solicitations of Apps?

Screen shot attached.
I've gone through my running applications, stoped any that I thought even might have something to do with it, but it is still there. With my work hours, I sleep till 11a. So it shows up sometime between 5a and then. Yesterday the green plus sign was a red star. Same advertisement type stuff.
Clicking on the link it goes from ad.leadboltapps.com something or another to some other app url to something with a .UK and them to the Play Store.

cool !!! nice post
I've had "Go Keyboard" spam me with ads too. Root and permission management (permissions Pro on market) cured it, but w/o root, then you basically get rid of the app or live with spam...
Later,
Jason
AirBlocker from the play store has worked well for me.
Ringdroid uses air push ads. Download the app AddOns Dectector to see what apps use what kind of ads

The spam comes and goes, try the same app after they update it and see if it's good to go or it still sends spam. It's part of the free Android world....

This should go to the general xda Q&A forums and not device specific. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=456
There is already a thread there - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062947
And I don't get that.
It must be in someone's signature... usually it's harmless when I've seen it on other sites though.

Huh, I haven't received this once with chrome (windows,mac), monkey (linux), or Firefox (linux, mac, windows). What a weird screenshot. And yes, I mean all three operating systems. I'm not saying that you didn't get it, I just think it is weird because I never have, no matter which forum section or thread I am browsing. Mac of York is probably correct in saying it is someones signature.

[APP] Network Spoof

I first apologize if this is not the correct prefix for this forum as I a just showing you all new and interesting app which I have just heard about. From what I have gathered this app is a "Prank" app you use this app to prank your friends who are currently on your house's wifi. It has no practical use but is quite an interesting app, how it works is you download the app, install approx. 400Mb of data for the app. Once this is all finished you see this list of options.

Just out of Curiosity, How exactly does this work? does this intercept other device's requests and send back a different response?
It sounds kinda scary.
Could you also add a link? i can't seem to find it on the play store.

Ah haha whoops I thought I put the link in there, well how it works is it SOUNDS like it starts its own server within your router and specific traffic (User traffic) is channeled through it, with all specified requests changed (IE "troll face" changes ALL pictures to a troll face) but I am honestly unsure of how it works
