AOKP-ANDROID OPEN KANG PROJECT
This is an unofficial build and I only complied from source, so all thanks and credits go to AOKP Team and Friends
What is AOKP?
AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
Why AOKP ?
We were waiting for when you'd ask this.
There are a variety of reasons why a hilly billy Android user, on a bright sunny day, would suddenly start using AOKP and loving it.
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they're "baked in" by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.
Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone's settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.
You can change almost each and every aspect of the OS, from its looks to the way it functions, with total freedom. And did we tell you, AOKP helps you make tacos?

just in case I need one more

Thank you.
Seems to run well for me (with that good 10 mins of usage )
also it seems to properly connect me to mobile network, which some other roms didnt do (Not sure if my problem or theirs)
one possible bug tho
After unlocking the phone (Swiping up), the speaker, unlock and camera button from lockscreen seem to stay, and you can see them. they will go away if you tap one of them
i wiped everything but internal and sd, and installed gapps. pretty much nothing else

Yes you are right, but I am pretty sure that this is not device specific and hopefully will be solved with one of the next rom updates.

Hello, this ROM is also compatible with the model Galaxy S III LTE (I-9305T) ?
Thanks!

new update is in the ofen...
Hi There,

new weekend build is up
Hi There and Good Evening,
new version based on todays AOKP github sources is done and uploaded.
One of the main changes is the move to android_r24. Others or specifics, please see their github page.
Download
aokp_i9305_mm_rodman01_2016-04-16.zip: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24499762636001381
P.S. unfortunately I forgot to include F2FS compatibility, sorry for that, but in next update, it will be there, I promise...:good:

Just installed latest build killer boot animation and wallpapers. no bugs as yet not device specific gps, camera, hotspot works haven’t tried any thing else yet.

After one day of use i have only noticed two bugs. if you enable lockscreen blur and turn your screen off and then turn it straight back on the screen goes black for a few seconds, and the alarm clock works but has no sound so i would use another alarm app. if people want to install viper i found the only one that installs is the flashable zip version (i can link if anyone wants it). overall running smooth the rest aokp will sort out in time.
EDIT: alarm works you have to manually change alarm ringtone first time you use it :good:

mine is working but you could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help-i9305/how-to-fix-gps-location-locking-to-t3176151 if not you could do what i do when gps does not work its not the cleanest way but it works and it hasnt given me any problems. 1 make a backup of aokp. 2 flash the last cm/aosp rom where gps worked for you check gps and make sure its working, if it is make a bckup of the rom. 3 dont wipe just dirty flash aokp backup over the 2nd rom. 4 boot aokp now check gps with gps test app it should be working. keep the backup of the 2nd rom for future use when gps doesnt work.

Love it!
Wow! I love it. Super slick, super fast. I like the customization options that are in there (battery style/colour, date colour/format), hoping that as the Carbon KK rom matures there will be even more options, like for the rest of the statusbar, boot animation, etc. I'd love a battery bar on the top like MIUI/Viper but I guess that's all up to the carbon team.
Haven't hit any problems at all yet and it is super speedy. Thanks so much for the port!!

I really liked the feature that gave me the option to change the colors on the status bar(The battery charge color mainly). I would keep using this rom, but I could not get my live wall paper choice to "stick". Each reboot brought back the default\installed live bubbles.

I used "500 Firepaper". I wiped it completely before flashing, two installs.
A couple more bugs I encountered..
The brightness does not stay on auto after a reboot.
Changing the quick settings for the pull down toggles "Carbon Fibers" to crash.
I was also getting crashes from sound search and now.

I have been using this ROM for past 2 days and have had no crashes and my auto brightness stays after reboot. I can confirm that trying to rearrange the tiles for quick settings will fc carbon fibers. I'll add it to op. All other options for quick settings work. Never tried rearranging tiles lol.
Anyone still using this? If not I'm not going to update

Could be, this phone had to have had one of the longest runs as far as developing is concerned. Now with Sprint on the verge of doing away with WiMaX, I think it's a safe best that this phone will finally be laid to rest lol
If only they would build another bad arse device with a awesome keyboard. Of all the phones I ever owned this was by far my fav. Which is why I just bought a newish one. hopefully I can find valid links to make it the beast its was ment to be.!
I finally got my Epic out of retirement and flash with 4.4.4 and gapps 4.4.2. this combo has the best stab;e and speed, i tried the open-gapps 4.4.4 but i bogged the phone down alot.
btw anyone have a working link to SlimKAT 4.4.4 only one i have used thus far is CM 4.4.4 unofficial

Everything seems to be working fine only got a bug in the YouTube app not showing video...:/ but I don't believe it's ROM related.
Edit : calculator widget isn't working right :s I'll get a screenshot later no big deal though. I love the ROM.
Thx again for bringing candy 5 and lollipop to our device.
Gesture typing doesn't seem to work, even after re-enable and reboot. But, this is still a beta release... Things like this are to be expected.

I'm having the same issue. I also had it when I installed it on the original SENSE 5 firmware (with some of the languages).
Also during phone calls people tell me they can hear themselves talking at the other side of the line.
I tried to lower the volume and it didn't work. I tried using headphones with a mic and it didn't help as well.
the issue is solved only by using headphones with no mic. is it only me?
It wasn't an issue when I used SENSE 5.
thanks for this! I just flashed from CM10 after upgrading hboot 2.14 to 2.18 and don't seem to have any problems yet

I didn't say I couldn't hear the other person or that he couldn't hear me.
The other person hears both me and himself.
Is it only me?

clearing all the cache fixed it
on this ROM for 2 days, everything seems working good, some time hangs when playing music while browsing on 3G. Apart from not big issues found.
Nice and smooth, but freezes up constantly.
Not yet usable, but seems like it's got a lot of potential.
No problems here, works fine for me. Make sure to clean flash every time and stay up to date with gapps and SU binary.

you will see some customizations that you can do
So after running this for a few days now everything works flawless (as I expected from VRToxin). Only thing I've noticed is my grouper doesn't seem to like waking up after the screen goes out for more than a few seconds.
I will check kmsg and dmsg and try to capture a log.

head up timeout and snooze working now
IMPORTANT
put head up ON before flashing that new release
good flashing!
Tried the rom this morning, way too unstable. Crashes in a variety of locations, even the default android keyboard of all places.
A PITA to undo the rom too, had to go all the way back to stock first before flashing a replacement rom for this one.
Seems like this rom still needs a lot of work, can't recommend it yet.
