Tv Shows Stream - Watch your favorite tv shows on your tablet

Hi,
I just want to inform about an app that has been developed by xda members and has been reported of 100% working on Galaxy tab .
The aplication searchs in internet for tv shows video links that can be played directly on android, with an easy to use interface and fullscreen support.
There is a Lite (free) version with 12 preselected tv shows and a full (paid) version with 500+ tv shows.

I was one of the first SGT testers I guess (the nagging guy on the market)
Yeah it is absolutely worth the few bucks too! (works with megavideo pro accounts etc, awesome!)
But BSG TOS is mixed up with the new one... boo ^^

Slingbox need specific hardware to work and the app slingplayer cost 21€ on android market.
Tv shows stream lite is free, the full version costs 4.99$ and no special hardware is needed. I whould say its a better deal. Just my opinion.

Fast forwar and Rewing should be working now fine on FROGMOVZ video links.
If any trouble, pause the video before FF or RW.

Yes, it works outside of the US. If a video is missing it means it got removed from the site it was hosted, try a different one. Also sometimes certain sites have the wrong episode ( lol at Psych).

I frickin love that app. Helped me save 60 bucks a month on crappy comercial filled cable. Thanks guys. Just needs way more adult swim shows. Aquateen hunger force for starters.

I emailed the devs last week and offered some suggestions. One of them was to alphabetize the favorites which they said they were working on and would be available on the next release. Along with that was a request to be able to backup those favorites like you can with bookmarks. The last two suggestions that I had were to be able to have the program automatically be able to scan for new shows with notifications and to highlight or indicate in some way in the favorites section that that particular show has a new episode. The last two suggestions are features that can be found in an app that I use frequently called dogcatcher.
Anymore suggestions guys? I know the devs read these so post them here if you have any. I really love this app so I want nothing more than for it to get better and better.

In next update bookmarkts will be alphabetically ordered. The update has not been released yet because we are finishing a minor fix that is taking more time than expected.
We are also preparing a special surpurise that will come in the next weeks. More info soon.
You can leave here suggestions, be sure that the developers will read it.

Love the app - could you please put the title or episode number of the video somewhere on the cropped screen too? Sometimes when the video stops in the middle one has to search again...

I am a convert. This is a great app! I still love my slingbox but have been watching this more lately.

This is a great app. Most shows work flawlessly.

[WIDGET][3.0+] Simple RSS Widget (scrollable)

Hey guys
I'm on Android 4.0 since some days and I really like the new possibilites for widget: to be scroll- and resizable. As I couldn't find any RSS widget which uses these features, I decided to code it myself.
And now I proudly present my newest app: Simple RSS Widget.
The app is currently in beta status and might contain some bugs, so please don't be too hard with the market reviews
The app is free & without ads or scary permissions. As it makes use of the new widget features from Honeycomb & ICS, you need at least Android 3.0 to use this widget!

There is an app called greader which pulls all my rss feeds from Google Reader. Maybe you can check to see how it does that.

does that happen on a specific feed? if so, can you PM me the url?

I tried to use this widget to show the feed http://www.reddit.com/r/Jokes/.rss but I found the story text is not formatted and placed all on one line. In addition the texts are littered with """.
I don't mind it being all on one line so much, but properly displaying the " would be nice.

Sometimes when unlocking phone, the widget is empty. A refresh is needed

I don't know if this thread is still active, but needed somewhere to ask, How can I delete the default feeds, from "Simple RSS" and add manual feeds, no matter what I do it keeps on reverting back to the default Feeds. please direct me to right direction to fix.

I follow the android development since version since 1.5 cupcake and i ever thought, if you have a great idea - write an app.
So i didn't wrote WhatsApp but i love it to be bleeding edge of development, so i was looking for a new prerelease of whatsapp from time to time on their website.
I wrote an app that checks for WhatsApp prereleases.

here are the circumstances for that
Yep i got deleted, thats what they told me:
"REASON FOR REMOVAL: Violation of the dangerous products provision of the Content Policy:
Applications that cause users to download or install applications from unknown sources outside of Google Play are prohibited."
So I tried to ask for any changes I could make to keep my app in playstore I also made suggestions, but i just got an default reply:
"Thank you for your note.
We have reviewed your appeal and will not be reinstating your app. This decision is final and we will not be responding to any additional emails regarding this removal."
Here is a short quote of what i wrote:
"The german policy sais, that it is forbidden to "seduce user to download or install extern apps without their knowledge" but i'm explaining in my app description that my app notifies on playstore or server updates.
so i think the users know that they download apps beside the playstore."
No comment on what I argumented.
I'm so disappointed how google deals with developers, that had 1,8 Mio downloads and 180.000 active user.
If I the App violates the policy they could have given me at least a chance to make it clean without loosing all my user.
When you ask for a bill for you playstore-order you get a contact person who takes care of the flow.
As developer you have nothing.
I didnt realized that i violate the policy, otherway i would have changed my app to get conform.
So my app still works, i just cant update it anymore via playstore.

To the Changelog thing.... there is no official changelog at all from WhatsApp directly but i have a great idea concerning this.... just need some time to realise this...
currently there is a "bug" in my app ... i din't thought of that whatsapp would pull back some update ... so if someone installed the latest version last night... he would get notification that there is a new one - cause they pulled the never version back and i was too lazy to implement version compare.... working on it and guess to release update during this day.
ps: maybe someone (of the mods) can link this post to other relevant forums? i dont want to spam with double-postings

i just want you 2 know, that the fixed version is on its way to the PlayStore.
Now there will be no more notifications if the installed-version is higher than the servers version.
Sorry for that annoying bug. As i allready said, i hadn't planned on that.

Maybe you should make it a complete toolbox for WhatsApp, so not only checking for update

I wouldn't like to make it require root to function, since whatsapp runs on nearly every device.
I guess a rolleback-function would be great for the beginning - backup+uninstall server-version + reinstall playstore-version?!

it was a black pop up not a notificant and it happened opening whatsapp so i suppose it's coming from original app not your.
il like your app so much, could you please make a setting for dark holo theme?

I noticed it is in version 1.0.2 (see Settings > About), however latest version on CM GitHub (github.com/CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_CMFileManager/tree/cm-11.0) only says 1.0.1 in its changelog... Did you extract it from a ROM? Any idea why this version (with actualised changelog) cannot be found anywhere on CM infrastructure (gerrit, github...)?

Extracting from a ROM is the quickest way and most ROMs have 1.0.2 in them.

You mean, compared to building from source ? This wasn't the reason why I was asking: I was just trying to find a definitive answer on "what's the latest version of this app", and official source code is always the best option to sort out such enquiry
It seems strange to me that most ROMs have an 1.0.2 version while CM repos don't seem to contain anything higher than 1.0.1 (by changelog comparison). So my question remains: where does that updated version come from?

I thought so at first, but if you look at this branch's CHANGELOG.md file, you'll see it hasn't been modified in two years and mentions the "1.0.1" version as the latest one. This is why I've precisely mentioned the branch URL in my first post, but because of my inability to post links you might have overlooked it Thanks for your investigations nonetheless!

Look in AndroidManifest.xml
Didn't see that you already mentioned you looked in cm-11 branch, they just haven't update the changelog but the app that gets compiled is 1.0.2.

Do you know of any other good free/libre file manager? Although this one quite pleased me when I discovered Cyanogenmod a few weeks ago (I'm pretty new to Android, just got my first droid phone last month), which is why I wanted to install it on my current OmniROM, it doesn't seem to be actively developed. I'm just wondering which features I could have a need for in the near future that this file manager doesn't offer... Thanks.

I normally use CM App Installer from the play store to get the file manager and the torch app

In this case it's raw text, but you can put images in there as well (any files in fact). Files in res/raw won't be processed/compiled, it'll just be added to the package.
For example, in CMFileManager the changelog (excerpt):

If you wanted to use that in strings.xml you would have to put them in <string> tags:

(For those reading this in Tapatalk, you can't see the xml tags since it handles it differently)
In some cases it can cause issues, and it's sometimes it's better not to clog up strings.xml with a large amount of text (like this changelog). Also easier to modify in some cases (again, like a changelog).
I use Root Explorer, but it's a paid app. There's a free version but afaik it can't modify files which need root access.

Nice, thanks for the tip this looks interesting! However, as the author says in the app description he builds them himself when he has time to do so. Therefore pulling them from a current nightly or latest M release (as Lethargy mentioned) seems to be as good (and that is one less person to rely upon). I also wanted to replace omniROM's Launcher3 by CM's Trebuchet, so I'll have a go at it (thanks to MultiROM ).

Concerning the file manager, I'm looking specifically for free/libre software app (as in "open source", but I don't like this expression and prefer to stick to Richard Stallman's definition). A search in F-Droid didn't turn in that many results, so that's why I was asking "at large"... I know many apps on the Play Store are libre software, but because the store doesn't mention their license it gets pretty tricky to find them. I try to always favour free/libre apps when I can.

If you ever want anything explained feel free to ask me in a PM
I'm not too sure of any others then. :silly: I'd just stick to CM File Manager if you specifically want a decent one that's open source. I just prefer Root Explorer over CM File Manager since it's a little better for root file management and it can access SMB (so I can access files on my PC without bothering to plug in my USB cable so often).
Maybe look around XDA for one.

Makes sense. Well for now I'm indeed fine with CMFM, and I've found a few alternatives thanks to http://alternativeto.net/software/open-manager/?license=opensource&platform=android (still can't post links sorry okay, now it looks like I can, that's nice). XDA forums are such a great resource for anything mobile/telephony related! It is rare that a single website gathers the biggest part of a development community. So great.

v1.3.1 - Quick change
Updated the refresh interval to 4 hours instead of 2. (This can be manually changed in Settings)

Question for anyone that is using that app, if you have used the Rootz Wiki Forum you notice it takes you to the webpage because they do not have the TapaTalk plugin. Do you like that it uses the in-app browser or would you rather it open your default browser and use that instead?? Would love to hear you thoughts!

So all you did was rename an awesome app like flowly and pawned it off as your own. Really lame dude. You weren't even original enough to change the icon you just rounded the corners

First off, if you were to keep up with that app you would know that guy abandoned it. Also he did not develop it at all. He used appyet just like I did, hence why I said "put together" I never said I developed that app ever. The icon is defiantly different, I am still looking for a new one but got this one for now due to the first one not displaying correctly for the notifications. I like Flowly a lot, but seeing that it would no longer be updated I decided to make one like it and keep it updated when appyet updated the code, and keep it current with all the new feeds. Also this is temporary while I work on my own that I actually developed, once that is done it will replace this one.

If flowly is abandoned and grilledbacon picked up where it was left off, I'm all for it. Good stuff, grilledbacon.

Thanks been looking for a replacement for blinkfeed now I can run nova prime again.

I would prefer that it open in my default browser dude. So that I can carry on reading articles in your app after the links have been opened in the browser. This way I can read on my browser later.

I really like the idea, good job. However, I'll wait till you put it on the Play Store to receive the updates immediately without having to visit this thread again and download the new APK. Another thing, can you please add Ardroid.com to the app (and yes, that's an "R", not an "N")? It is an Arabic news site.

I just looked in the Play Store and there's already a TechTalk... That might be a bit of a problem...

I'd actually like to be able to use both an in-app browser AND my default browser. BUT if I had to only have it one way, I definitely want to use my default browser. Also in regard to Flowly, which I still use religiously, thanks for picking up the ball after it's abandonment.

I have noticed that, too. But I think he can maybe change the name?

Just used the app for an hour. Ignore my earlier comments about needing an external browser. The current implementation is perfect.
However, I would still like the ability to delete some sources. Great work so far! Thanks Dev!

Awesome app, very nice to have all the news in one place, but the app icon is really plain. Maybe some material flare would be nice. I mean no offense by that. You did a great job getting it all into one app.

I'd assume so. But since I found this app because of a post in the XDA Portal I'd probably suggest changing the name before it becomes too widely known. Better to rename with 50 users than with 5000 users...

You could at least give credit to the original developer of the app in the OP.
