Hey. When using edge screen, icons simply won't change in "Apps edge" after applying any of the icon packs. I am using Nova Launcher. Any solution to that?
I believe the edge screen icons are dependent on Samsung's own themes which you download from the Samsung Theme Store. Remember, applying a icon pack to 3rd party launchers only work with that launcher. Samsung themes however are system wide.
I wish I could change the icons in the edge screen, too, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do that. Maybe you could convince your favorite icon pack developer to create a Galaxy Theme that includes the icons.
Use glovebox from playstore instead. You can choose the icon to your liking plus add all kinds of useful shortcuts like direct call and so on. I use Samsung edge functionality on the upper part of the Edge for weather for example and glovebox on the lower right side for multi tasking mainly. Perfect combo.

I use xposed module StopSwitchDelay to get rid of the 5 sec delay for opening apps from third party apps like glovebox after having pressed the home button. Also I put transparent icons ( you might aswell use spaceholders available in configurations) in the upper part of the screen as they are not easy to reach with one hand. For me this setup is much better for one handed multitasking. I find it kind of difficult to reach the recents button with one hand without risking to drop the phone
P.s. It even works on the lockscreen
Ok, so this is what Nova Launcher crew mailed me:
"That's something that we don't support mainly because Samsung doesn't have an API for us to use to be able to accomplish that."
"That's just probably something we'll never support, or at least not in the near future."
I was under the impression they were releasing the code to allow 3rd party developers to create own panels. Think they mentioned this at launch.

I like the concept. I like that you are able to quickly get an overview of messages, calendar, calls and you can adjust was you like it. It would be better if it had facebook, twitter intergration as part of all the other info panels also.
The only issue here I see is that the whole notion of android is the widgets...which I like. I'll keep it on for awhile to test it out. Maybe it will grow on me.
It's basically windows mobile homescreen.
I agree with archboy, great concept, but still missing some customization features. The ability to move an item from the top half to the bottom half is needed. This would be great if it could also be used as a fullscreen widget, so that I could still use the rest of my screens.
I wish this was a lock screen.
IMO, this information oriented approach instead of the action/application oriented approach is much better in terms of productivity.
The only drawback of this application? I cannot access to some widgets/actions and I do really want to be able to do things like enable wireless, 3g, change brightness... without the pain of going through the setup menus.
A good solution to this problem would be a light weight home screen app which could be launched from slide screen and load the the 4 or 5 widgets I need. I've tried aHomeMini but it forcecloses, any suggestions?
@iVisionX01: yeah, having it as a lock screen is also great but, again, I won't need the full featured home app.

Tried it for a couple of hours, but missing customizability and getting settings too far out of reach made me uninstall quickly.
I wish it was a widget!
Try QuickDesk or PowerStrip with this, working great for me, very pleasing to the eye..
wow i cant believe i missed this home screen
should be perfect with QuickDesk and PowerStrip
i dont get it??? Whats it suppose to do??
It's a shame FroYo won't let you change default launcher programatically any more (you have to do it through the settings). I would love to have had Tasker set this is default when I was at work, then LauncherPro the rest of the time

Hi. Pretty sweet. However, how do you activate the "cube effect" for the apps? or any of the 3D. For some reason, I can't find it. Thanks!
Please option to hide icons and uninstall from clicking the icons.
MyLauncher released and NO Where to be found!
Nice job mate, works pretty good on my galaxy s. However I think more options to customize would be nice cause at least I like launcher with more customizing options better ( ADW, Launcher Pro).
will give it a go see how i likes
I just recently bought Nexus5. it is my first experience with a 5 inch 16:9 phone and I am a bit frustrated about how difficult it is to do certain things when using the phone with one hand. I am left handed so some things are even more difficult for me than right handed people.
For example:
- pulling down the notifications from the top is very hard.
- reaching for the top right corner is even more difficult for me. Most programs have important buttons in the top right corner.
- right edge is also difficult for me
Galaxy S5 has a one-handed mode and Iphone6 and 6 plus seems to get it too.
- Does there exists an option in Cyanogenmod to shrink the UI to the lower corner in similar manner than in Galaxy S5...? Or is there any other good solutions.
- Does there exist somehow a way to forge a program to put important UI elements to lower edge instead of upper edge
- Does there exist a way to "mirror" the position of UI elements so that they would be more accessible for left handed people..?
Any other solutions for making the phone easier to use with one hand or for left hander are all welcome.
I saw an xposed module for one handed, but I have not used it.
Yeah, there are some Xposed modules that can do one-handed mode. I'm pretty much ambidextrous and have no issue with using my left hand, and my hands are by no means large.
LMT pie has a pointer system for one handed operation if you enable it. There are some apps on Google play store too, don't know what they are like though.
One thing I do to sort this is using nova launcher's gestures.
One swipe down on any of my home screens and it drops the notification shade. One swipe up and it gets me to the quick settings page. It's pretty useful.

It only does the activity window (app) not status bar but loads of ways to trigger status bar drop.

Title explains it. Is there a way to remap the phone icon on the stock TW Launcher so it will launch the Google dialer app instead of the stock phone app?
Doubtful, but if ya wanna try and a really great full screen launcher give Total Launcher a try, I'm 100% Certain you could remake the left and right shortcut keys in it with the home page indicator too. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.launcher2&hl=en
I've been using Total Launcher for around 2 or 3 months now and haven't looked back at the TW Launcher
My home screens soft key row

I'm using MRU (Most recently used widget) with 5 rows and 7 coulmns
As you can see, you could set up that bottom row on every single home screen page
You wouldn't need a app launcher icon as one of their home screen pages is the app drawer, so you could get creative and put a sms icon on the right side or whatever even leave it blank
You can even change the icon to any image you like
Now you can see a near complete edge launcher tw replica, I done the phone text shortcut as its more aesthetically pleasing to the eye with the stuff that has the soft menu on the right side of the screen.
If I can figure out a way to add any application as a shortcut I made out of a camera shortcut it has a text messages shortcut as well.
Camera
1st way
2nd way
I changed it up a lil
I think it's safe to say with Total Launcher making Note Edge Launcher TW Clone Homescreen the options are quite endless.

Changed it up a lil with Elixir 2
One more change added my own customized app drawer so I could get both left right shortchuts and a page indicator
With this utility app, older users will not have a headache because of the small application icons and complicated controls.

Big Launcher is an application designed to support older people to use smart phones more easily. Big Launcher includes an interface with icons and large text to help older people can see easily. In addition, you can pin contacts and applications to the home screen to make it easier for older people to use quickly, without having to perform many operations. Young children can also use the phone more easily thanks to this simple interface.
The main reason people have trouble with touch screens is that app icons are too small for their hands or eyesight. So, if you can't help your grandparents touch the right app to open, you can install BIG Launcher to make these icons bigger and easier to use by showing only the mechanical options. copy.
Main function
Simple interface with icons and large text suitable for older people to use
Simple installation, with no lock function for editing
Support Weather Widget for your convenience to keep track of current temperature and weather
Support clock widget with big text
Note
Must have Internet used to download weather data
GPS location: used to get the weather at that location
Read contacts: to get contact list attached to the home screen
Read write memory: to save data
