Marshmallow update error 411 download unsuccessful - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

I have been trying to update my wife's bone stock S6 to Marshmallow today. When I check for updates, it shows that it is available. I tell it to download and I immediately get an "update failed to download". It does it on both wifi and lte. I've tried rebooting. Does anyone know what causes this error or how I can get the update installed? Is the update file out there to download it so I could do a manual flash?

Same issue. Very annoying.

same

Having the same problem with my s6 but my wifes s6 edge updated with no problems

Same issue here. Tried through the desktop updater as well but no update was found.

I really hope this isn't some April fools joke. Because it's doing the same thing for me.

Update has been pulled.

Apparently the update has been pulled.
This is From Verizon support:
"We have had a couple other customers chat in with the same issue (in the past 10 minutes) and we did confirm with Samsung that the Marshmallow update is on hold right now because of some bug fixes. They do not have an estimated time for the release of the update yet but once it is known it will become public."

We've been had. Jokes on is! Good one, Samsung assholes!

This is pure bull ****. Same problem here, update unsuccessful. Just great. 20 months later and I still can't get it, bad enough I can't root... wah.

They'll probably take another few months to release it again. Google really needs to put pressure on the providers to release these updates quicker.
Scratch that. About a half hour after my comment above, the update is downloading.

Was getting the same error. I just powered my phone off then turned it back on. Update screen popped up and it's downloading now.

Yep. I'm on Marshmallow now.

I was able to update just now as well.

Updated here as well.

This if ****ing retarded. Ive downloaded like 10 times and it fails between 1-30% every ****ing time. WTF!!!

I just noticed that I am on the April 2nd Security patch. I wonder if those that updated yesterday are showing a different patch level. Was there actually a bug that Verizon was able to pull, fix, and re-release in only hours? That has to be a record.

Anyone know where I can find the odin files for this?

Update has gone! (It's back and solved)

I started the software updater earlier and sure enough it reported an update was available. I was going out so thought I'd do it tonight when I had more time and clicked cancel. I ran the updater again tonight (several times) but now all I get is the "current version is the latest version" message. wtf?

This happens all the time.
try take out your sim then restart phone, if not, try turn off your phone for 10min, then turn on and try again, if still nothing, try change time/date for your phone and wait about 15mins. if not, then try contact LG?
This update can be only done via wifi so your gonna want to switch on your wifi..
What i did to get it was switch wifi off then on..

not sure if it's actually true, first time when on my ex-Incredible S receiving OTA update, I was on mobile internet (3G) :/
Yes the wifi is on (I turned it off and on again too) and I'm on June 16th firmware and in the UK
It definitely gave me an update option this afternoon, but not now?
Maybe they found a problem with the July update and pulled it?

no, it won't, otherwise we all would be recommended to force back-up ours.
just try my methods, if not working, try update via PC with LG Support Tool, if it's unsuccesful, it should give you another go for update via OTA after couple hours.
Just tried again and the update was there again, I've downloaded it and its updating now. Maybe the servers were overloaded?
Pete
Edit.......now up and running again with the 8th July 2011 firmware update
Hows the stability, I am having some frustration with this update.
Some process went awol overnight, had 85% power when I went to bed, woke me up with the "phone turning off" sound as the battery had drained.
Tried using a third party camera app which worked on the June firmware, no picture on the July firmware. Tried a few times, got a picture once. Then tried to go back on the official camera app and the phone locked up with a black screen.
So generally I find the new firmware is awesome for 1080p video now, but a lot more unstable. I'm hoping we will get another update next month addressing these issues and hopefully improving still photo quality.
I just hope the Android 2.3 update does not cause any regression of problems once its out, although I suspect these improvements are somewhat a gradual upgrade to what 2.3 will have (none base OS components) to ready the phone for 2.3.
It already looks like it has the 2.3 kernel based on what I read the kernel versions were supposed to be for each Android release.
Just tried to update the wife's phone, same result, no update! This is a pita, I'll try again later. Not had chance to test the update yet, I'll see how it behaves today.

Thunderbolt autoupdated!!

I don't know how this happened but I look over and see my thunderbolt rebooted (happens maybe once every one or two weeks). Not thinking much of it I look away and then look back a moment later to see the update screen! I would have ripped the battery out but I didn't want to risk bricking it.
I have been hitting reject to the update since it was first released and it's never updated on its own! This is a warning to anyone else that has been hitting reject all this time, it seems it somehow is starting the update process on its own now.

Well apparently it can because it has been sitting at my desk at work all day and I haven't touched it. It vibrated and I look over and see the HTC splash screen and then it went to the update logo. If it was just sitting there how else can you explain it?
It rebooted several times and now the data icon is different, mobile hotspot doesn't work, and there is a new Verizon data widget. It updated on its own.
Resistance is futile.
mine updated itself too last night. I plan to reject the update since i still had a working hotspot up too last night. I looked at my phone and the update was already in progress and halfway done.
No i am concidering root but wanted to stay stock. Someone just posted that they were rooted and stock and this automatic update caused their phone to brick.
what update? we haven't had a OTA since early july.

Huh? It's coming Q2, and this is only June 86th.
I can confirm that the phone did "auto-update". I had been hitting reject on every notification for the update (so i could keep using the mobile hotspot). When i woke up this morning (or yesterday morning, i cant remember) - my phone had the new verizon icons, new version number, and mobile hotspot didnt work anymore (prompt to buy $30/month feature).
I'll guess i'll finally have to root and install some ROM.

Yes it does. In fact, I suspect what happens is when the screen/menu pops up with 'accept, reject, or the 3rd option (??)', if you don't respond within a certain time, it defaults to 'accept'.
I think is too much coincidence that more than one person had the same issue the same night. Verizon you !#$% failz!
Same here. Updated this morning right when my alarm was supposed to go off. Luckily the flashing lights woke me, but it was too late as it was already on the update screen and couldn't risk pulling the battery.

I got this from another thread, solution #1 seems to have done it for me...
i got the same problem as everyone else
===
So I plugged in my phone last night and rebooted it, only to find ClockWorkRecovery giving me a warning message saying that some update has failed (details below), and if I tell it to reboot, it will properly enter Android and load all my stuff, but within seconds of loading up properly, the phone FORCE shuts down.
Power Off - Shutting Down, and there is nothing I can do to stop it.
I have the latest CWM 4.0.1.5, i just flashed it. I did a backup just in case, as I don't know what steps to take.
While booting up..the phone will look like its installing something, but then fails.
Press the menu key, CWM opens up and I see the following.

ClockworkMod Recovery 4.0.1.5

I know Verizon has been bugging me with that firmware update, but I've been denying it every time. There is no way it would have downloaded already, would it? I didn't accept any software updates.
I've tried rebooting phone from cold shutdown, taking memeory card out. I have't restored to previous ROM, or dont any wipes/factory resets. I dont wanna attempt those unless I know what it's going to do.
At this rate, my HTC Thunderbolt is pretty much a brick.
========
UPDATE:
I followed the method 1 steps from the link bastukee posted and its been working so far so good.
i am currently rooted with the old software, is there anyway to update the software but still stay rooted? I dont want to keep seeing these annoying updates.
@blenderben
Mine did EXACTLY the same thing and solution #1 fixed it, the option to clear the cache. I'm going to actually use a non-stock ROM from now on.
yeah i wanna swap to CM7, but isn't it still in alpha?
Verizon auto push update to phone.
How can we stop it?

Verizon s8+ not getting update requests from Galaxy App

Hi,
I am really curious if I am just not in line yet or for some other reasons are not receiving galaxy app updates.
The update list is blank for the phone and gear. Seems to check just fine.
I never got a pop up for DQA resolution or the ICS Bixby update people are seeing. I am curious if anyone who took the OTA last week from VZ is seeing the same behavior...
I am on AT&T but I am having the same issue.... got the phone Tuesday night and took system update that night... since then I have been getting the DQA error whenever connected to WiFi... have not gotten the patch from Sammy yet and no Bixby patch.... What Gives???
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsun...0-release/dqa-1-1-13-10-android-apk-download/
Here is the apk for the update. It got rid of the dqa error for me
Thanks. Doesn't solve the overall question of why we aren't being pushed these small G apps updates.

New OTA B229?

Hello. I just received a new OTA, dav-703lc233b212_b229. I thought the b212 was the last one. Anybody else?
Received it this morning, haven't installed it yet.
anyone dares/wants to try out? /p8max
Last update f-uped my phone..
Seems to work
The last update broke all Google apps. Nonetheless I gave this one a go this morning. So far so good, android 6 with Dec 2018 update. An update that worked was long overdue!
Not noticed any differences yet, nothing appears to be broken
cool :good::highfive:
but whats better now? its not an android version upgrade,,just UI fixes? How could the phone go up on android os version?
Thanks!
Ditto.
Received, did not install, maybe never will, based on the last negative experience mentioned above/below.
but still interested if anyone installs it

I'm on Sprint, and never got the March update. It is letting me download the April update
Sent from my PH-1 using Tapatalk
Didn't believe at first lol had to check thx.
If you look at Essential's builds page you'll notice that there is not a Sprint version of the March update. I suspect that Sprint would not approve / accept / allow the updates. I'm hopeful that the April update will fix the Bluetooth issues introduced by the Jan or Feb update. I've also experienced significant loss of signal strength since the Jan and Feb updates, which I believe are tied to the modem security patches in those updates, and I'm hoping April fixes that as well. If not, I'll be downgrading back to December's update. I have LITERALLY gone from "bulletproof" data connections all over my City to routinely losing data connection, and my average speeds at home and work have dropped significantly. I know it's the build and not the network because I have another PH1 on Sprint that has none of these issues after being downgraded to the last Oreo build...
Edited to add: The April update is taking much longer to install than the monthly updates normally do. It took over 30 minutes to complete the app upgrade process today. Fingers crossed that this means there are some big fixes under the hood.
---------- Post added at 09:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:45 PM ----------
Uodate: after installing the April update and rebooting once to get a fully "clean slate", I ran Speedtest... WOW!
So, good news and bad news for me, and likely anyone on Sprint. When I ran speed tests last Friday (same app, same location, same phone, on the February Pie update) I was getting download speeds of about 12mbps and upload speeds of about 10mbps on average. After the April uppdate I am now getting download speeds averaging around 75 to 80 Mbps (!!!!!!!!!), but my upload speeds have dropped to an average of about 2.5mbps....
So, whatever the April update contained has helped and hurt. Now, to see if it has fixed my intermittent Bluetooth problems... Fingers crossed.
The speed test at the very bottom was last Friday. Everything else above it is today, after installing the April update.
Yes, upgrade (74MB) installed & working, but took forever to optimise the apps, I was sweating a little since I'm in Australia & can't send phone back to Essential if major issue.
Update includes improvements to minimum brightness & volume which is good ... especially if you like to use your phone in the middle of the night without waking your beloved! ?
Note that for Sprint users the file size (if received OTA) is about 96mb (approx, my recollection may be slightly off). My wife's is on AT&T and I noticed the size difference when updating her phone. Hers also seemed to optimize apps a lot faster than my Sprint PH1. It would appear that Sprint bundled something else in with the update (BT / modem fixes? March's Android security patches that we missed? Who knows...)

Can't shutdown with April '19 update
When I tried to shut the phone off to swap SIMs with my other phone, the PH-1 got to the part where it bumps the vibrator and hung vibrating for 2-3 seconds and then re-booted. Argh! Bluetooth is still borked... I have to shut off Bluetooth and restart before my Jabra 65t's will connect and even then it's iffy.
That's weird. No shutdown problems like that with mine. I've not noticed any Bluetooth problems either yet (but don't really know what I'm looking for with that, last build seemed to work OK for me too, I only use Bluetooth for pairing headphones)
And as usual I still don't have any of these weird problems. Oh well maybe the next one.
I had to go back to the original slot.
The new update breaks WiFi and data.

It's stock but rooted with Magisk (no TWRP), just happened since Jan update, it was ok last year.
Someone said it's hardware related, maybe true....but if I go back either Oreo or early Pie then no problem.

Anyone else has this issue?

Any time you have an issue and are rooted and running apps or software that fettles things I would say the best test of is it software or hardware is to flash back to stock unrooted and see what's what.

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately, I did flash back to stock without rooting, and still had no LED notification.
To be honest, it only shows up one time after fresh stock ROM flash, and never show up again.
There's no LED notification when missing phone call, SMS/MMS, but......the LED is blink ONLY when I have voice mail waiting....that's pull my hair off.
