@calsurferpunk, as long as we are listing Quark ROMs, there's the official CM12.1 (Lollipop) and the official CM13 (Marshmallow).
I realize you have undertaken the task of maintaining unofficial CM13 until CM13 goes nightly... and I thank you for your efforts! -- but you are leaving off the official CM builds from the CM dev @Skrilax_CZ.
None of the custom Quark ROMs or any custom Quark kernels would be available without his work. (I'm not talking about stock-based ROM from @computerfreek274.) Most importantly, because all the custom Quark ROMs (even AOSP Mokee) use CM kernel -- which @Skrilax_CZ developed. Even @baybutcher27 kernel (which I use) is just an advanced version of CM kernel. Then, when the Droid Turbo XT1254 bootloader was unlocked last November, @Skrilax_CZ updated the CM kernel to also work with that Quark.
I'm currently using CM12.1 on two of my three Quarks until CM13 goes nightly.
Yes, your unofficial CM13 (Marshmallow) is updated more often than the official "work in progress" CM13, because @Skrilax_CZ is busy, but CM12.1 (Lollipop 5.1.1) is very stable and still has frequent nightlies.
While there is a thread over here for CM12.1, really it's best to use the CM12.1 links over in the other Quark forum, as that one has more dev traffic between you, @baybutcher27 and @Skrilax_CZ.
So, thank you for your work -- but if we are going to list all the current Quark ROMs, then let's list all the current Quark ROMs?
Pretty much we all know this bro..just a heads up we've know since we got unlocked

I understand. I by no means am trying to leave anything out. I just thought it would be handy to have a list since everything seems to be over in the Moto Maxx forums and not here. Not 100% needed, but I thought if it helps anybody, it's worth it. I'm sure there are others that I am forgetting or don't even know about. Just trying to list what I saw as a quick reference. Thanks for the encouragement and help on the posts as well.

I'd assume this 90%+ of the time, but in my experience with helping others with computer issues in general (outside of the forums) I've realized it's never good to assume everyone knows exactly what is going on, especially since computers/phones are obviously highly complicated devices. I just noticed how it seemed to be dying off in the forums here more for ROM development, so 1 reason I thought it could be happening is lack of understanding of the compatibility of the Moto Maxx and Droid Turbo. I figure it's worth helping that 1 new person who is just entering the "world of Android".
p.s. Like I said. I don't know if it's good to be putting this here or not, lol.
There are multiple threads on this already

Sure, doesn't hurt to have a current list. For instance, we get newbies (twice in the past week) who didn't know the XT1250 and XT1254 are identical devices.
There was also Nexus Experience ROM (AOSP) and Sony Xperia ROMs, but they have dust on them. The Xperia ROM may still work with Droid Turbo, not sure, but the guy maintaining it said he was abandoning the effort. The Nexus Experience was never updated to work with current CM kernel (i.e. after the Droid Turbo bootloader was unlocked).

Show me what other thread in the Droid Turbo forum lists the unofficial CM13 (Marshmallow) ROM for all Quarks by @calsurferpunk? Right. There's not one. So you are wrong.
More information is better.
So you are telling me that nowhere on the droid turbo forums does it mention moto maxx Roms being compatible with the turbo? Hmmm OK if u say so guy

That's not what the thread is about. You might want to look at the title?
[ROMs][Quarks][List for Moto Maxx and Droid Turbo]
It lists the current ROMs available which some people over here may not know about. The CM13 (Marshmallow) ROM in particular at the top of the list is not from the CM dev, but is compiled by the op @calsurferpunk quite frequently -- using CM sources and @baybutcher27 custom kernel. It's an "unofficial" CM13, is relatively new -- has gotten good review by users -- and is NOT listed anywhere over here. (The official CM13 by @Skrilax_CZ has not been updated in about 6 weeks.) The op is doing that ROM as a public service until CM13 goes nightly or until the official CM13 is updated more frequently.
So, while most may know Quark ROMs are compatible, there's not a current master list over here. Two of the ones available in the past, Nexus Experience and Sony Xperia, have fallen off the charts due to abandonment. The unofficial CM13 (Marshmallow) has joined the list.
Some over here may not even realize Quark have TWO Marshmallow ROMs available? Or where to find them?
Not sure what you are upset about. Information that helps Android users is good.
My wife and I each have Turbos which I bought as soon as I saw that the bootloader had been unlocked. I have been watching both development forums (Android development & Original Android development) for this phone and was completely unaware that all of the development for this phone was happening elsewhere.
Thank you for this thread!

dude, you obviously knew already bc you have been in all of these (Turbo/MMAXX) forums for like a year...much like myself.
What @calsurferpunk was trying to do is *actually* a decent idea: Inform the uninformed.
More users ends up netting more devs, which nets more ROMS. it absolutely cannot hurt. We have amazing devs that have gotten us this far. What can it hurt to inform newcomers quickly? you never know who is potentially a dev.
Double post. But wanted the Turbo guys to see. Dont be scared its alright

Two chinese guys ported flyme 4.5 to xt1254/1250 but discontinued now, both workd fine(without any gesture),it's such a pity.
i wonder whether there is a MIUI porting to have more choices.

Over in the other forum, someone tried to post Chinese port of Flyme ROM as well as Carbon ROM, but the threads were quickly closed by the mods and all posts deleted. If I remember correctly, allegations of malware buried in the ROMs or some kind of advertising spambot or something? It was for our protection, which I appreciate.

Say bye to CM12.1 (Lollipop). The last nightly seems to have been April 5, 2016. I'm still running it on 2 of my 3 Quarks, until I get time to switch over to CM13.

I'm beginning to notice thaton some of the newest nightly ROMS arent allowing my Photon Q to be flashed with some of the newer versions. I just tried flashing the newest CM11 nightly for the Photon Q and it wouldn't allow me(July 1). This also happened when I tried to use Kitstalk and the newest Liquid Smooth nightly(July 1). I tried using CWM 6.0.4.4 and TWRP 2.7.1.0, but I kept the getting same error message saying I need to have a 4.4 bootloader. Is there any way to update the bootloader or get around this?

Assuming you only use CM11, sure maybe. Their wiki pays no mention to it when this was implemented. The unified build wiki article is one of the first hits you get when a newbie is searching to root and flash custom roms. But what about other ROMs out there? This forum seems to be the main hub for everything Photon Q, but yet i've found numerous ROMs that aren't advertised here.

Glad you are excited but word on the street is alot of the roms for our phones are 99% complete. As soon as we get an unlock/exploite for our phone you will probably see most of your main stream builds pop up. IE. Slim rom, Cyanogen, Carbon, AOKP, etc. I am in no means trying to discourage you but in all due time I am sure you will have a choice of roms to pick from. The source for most of those roms listed above are on github you could start building and forking for our device and I am not sure our device files are available yet.

Hey guys I've had my g3 rooted for a couple months now and I have yet to find a really good ROM to use cm12 was to buggy and grew tired of nightlies. Liquidsmooth was really good only issue I had was Skype and hangouts. I'm on candy5 latest build now and I'm getting a lot of glitches, force closes, etc. I've clean installed the last 2 roms and experience problems. If Liquidsmooth didn't have that Skype issue I would probably stuck to it. Any ROM suggestions?

For the most part, all the AOSP Roms like the ones you received will have similar bugs until they are ironed out over time. The least buggy Roms are those based of the lg ROM. Right now there are only 2 stock lg lollipop Roms. Both of them are very stable however they're basically just rooted versions of the stock lollipop ROM.

It's because the development took and still takes lots of work. The devs had a lot of work just to root Lollipop, then to flash twrp. But I also do think that between all roms available (including KK roms and LP roms) we don't have as many as other devices from the same gen have. Heck, I had my Galaxy S3 and there were ports for everything. Can't complain though, between the stock ones and illusion (talking my preferences), I feel complete.

For KitKat, there's plenty of ROMs available, partially due to the fact that porting D855 ROMs was cake (swap out kernel and modules, and you're golden). That's why there weren't too many D850-specific ROMs.
On LP, there's a new handshake process between ROM and kernel, so we can't do that...yet. I feel like "development" on ROMs as a result is going to be hindered, since there's hope that the process will get cracked, then we can just port straight from D855 with little effort. Otherwise, if we have to mess about with the D85020f base, it'll take much more time.

@Spz0 has been talking about this as of late in his OA855-5 ROM thread, as he is readying to move the ROM to Lollipop.
The defacto LG standard ROM of many, CloudyG3 by @Cloudyfa, also will inevitably jump on this bandwagon, but he hasn't been spotted in a while. He's probably just busy or something.
Not sure why this thread even exists.. this subject has been discussed ad nauseam in the Lounge.
@Nexus.S the question you've asked is one that will never offer ONE end all solid answer. It is truly a case of "to each his own". You need to continue doing what you were doing and try obe that fits all of your needs.
There are literally hundreds of users that have commented on every rom available for this device. Asking there will get you quicker answers, rather then waiting for people to find your thread and post something witty.
Threads of this type end up being nothing more then, OT threads.
Please check the index (found HERE) which lists all the roms for this device.

Keep in mind both still have all that carrier bloat we love to hate. I use the first rom without issue and debloated it myself using titanium backup.

I can also vouch for the first one. In fact, I was far less aggressive with debloating and have skipped xposed for now... and it's more stable, better battery life and (IMO) a better UI.

True. For some it's more the 'personal process' of discussion with others that seems important, and less the strict data/direct content of the discussion.
resurrection remix 5.0.2 is a really great rom i had doubts because it was based off of cm but i was impressed
As the title says, I'm wondering about the differences between the CM custom ROM and CyanogenOS. I know (or I think I know) COS is what came on the 1+1 from the factory and that CM is the custom ROM can be flashed on it (I'm using CM12.1 on my Falcon 1st Gen Moto G). Come February or March I'll be in the market for a new phone and I'm highly interested in the 1+1 so I'm doing my research and learning all I can now, before I make a purchase. If I buy one from Swappa (which is where I'll get it when I do make my purchase), I'd like to know some info about COS and what would be the pros and cons over CM12.x (or any of the other custom ROMs out there).
Thanks for any info you can give.

There are already several threads discussing this in the section you've posted in, not to mention all the information online discussing this subject.

Thanks. I did do some searching before I posted and nothing was coming up with the keywords I was trying. That's why I posted. I may not have a lot of posts but I'm not a noob either.

They're essentially the same ROM, but different. COS is considered the stable branch and is the stock ROM for this device, CM is the nightly branch, it's more up to date but more prone to bugs.
I dont know why there is a disscussion about something like this???
I looked before i post but i think i am right !!!
Where shoud be the diffrent ???
COS is not CyanogenMod !! It is Color OS!!!
Only "CM" stands for Cyanogen*MOD* i dont know why someone starts somthing like this but ... there are only diffrent betwen Nightlys and Stable!!!
Like -> CM11 or CM11s OR CM12.1 -> CM12.1S
and if u think im not right, look by ure self on CM official website for Stuff like COS or else show me there what kind of ROM names COS12 or else there!!
The International OPO came with CM11S and not with this Fakenames someone gives to get more attention!

Lmao. Sorry, but you're so wrong. You can't have looked very hard or very well. This device did initially come shipped with CM11S, that's what they used to call the official firmware for this phone. But ever since Lollipop they renamed the official firmware for this phone to Cyanogen OS, it's abbreviated to COS12 or COS12.1 depending on which build is being referenced, and it's abbreviated even further to COS. There's no such thing as CM12S or CM12.1S, even though some people mistakenly refer to COS12 or COS12.1 by those names.
The official name for the latest firmware is indeed Cyanogen OS 12.1, but that doesn't mean people don't refer to it unofficially as COS12.1, or that they're wrong in doing so. We see common abbreviations all over the world. The Federal Bureau of Investigation in America is commonly known as the FBI. The European Organization for Nuclear Research is commonly known as CERN. And Cyanogen OS 12.1 is commonly known as COS12.1.
CM does stand for CyanogenMod, and COS stands for Cyanogen OS. He's asking about the difference between the two different versions. CyanogenMod has never been the official firmware for this phone so you're dead wrong there. You might want to check your facts before posting in such a manner and accusing someone of looking for attention. It is in fact you who is incorrect.
Do you actually even own this device or know anything about it?
Oh Yes i have a OPO and i am running with COS (Color OS) hmm......
Okay i found it ..... but i never saw it before maybe while i am only on custom roms! In europen forums.......i saw threads about COS "Cyanogen OS" but i thougth about fakes!
NVM Youre right an i am false!......
But in the CyanogenMod site (the have cyanogenmod site and cyanogenos site) the ROMS are called CM12.1 or CM12.1s if u dont belive me i will show u the links!
EDIT: And please dont tell me it wasnt the Official OS for OPO witch OPO we talk about???
The Europen one came OFFICIAL with CM!!

There isn't a single mention of CM12.1S in either of the sites, because there's no such thing as CM12.1S. Go and look yourself, there's no mention of it anywhere.
Plus, you're getting confused between the entities, let me explain it:
CM = CyanogenMod
This is the community run project, and has never been the official firmware for this phone).
CM11S / COS12(.1) = Cynogen Inc
This is the corporate branch, this is that only official firmware that has ever been come with this phone).
Therefore the international (or European as you call it) model of this phone never came with CM (CyanogenMod) as the stock firmware because that's the community run project, not the corporate branch that supplies the firmware for this device.

I got this device last week (it got shipped to Belgium, Europe) and I can confirm that it got shipped with CyanogenOS 12, not with CyanogenMod. So, unfortunately, you're wrong.

Heisenberg is correct in his statements regarding the firmware which ships on the OPO, however, there are distinct differences between the open sourced community CyanogenMod projects and the CyanogenOS besides one (COS) being the official stable branch and the other (CM) being the development branch. The most important of these differences being that the corporate entity CyanogenOS includes proprietary closed sourced replacements for several open sourced apps found in CyanogenMod. And to further complicate things CyanogenOS seems to have a different lineup of these proprietary apps with every iteration. For example the Cyanogen firmware has at various times included an alternate keyboard app (askey), email app (Boxer), and several unique to the OS features like an exclusive camera, browser, sound mixer, and theme. There are other differences too that a close examination of the files from each ROM easily reveal. I hope this helps.

Thank you sir. That is great info. I've been watching the phones on swappa and have noticed some come with the Cyanogen OS. I know that this phone is very open for custom ROMs so I know that what ever it comes with when I purchase it I can put what I want on it.

Can someone please suggest a fully functional custom ROM for this TAB please. The stock ROM is too laggy - I feel like breaking the tab. I just hate Lenovo and wonder these useless guys are going to spoil the name of Motorola too by acquiring them.
I could've bought even a still cheaper chinese tablet instead.
thanks

Resurrection Remix
Know this thread is old but I recently started using Resurrection Remix and it was love at first sight. It has the most features of any ROM I have tried and it is still battery friendly. I have heard it can be a bit unstable but I haven't had any problems. I really recommend you try it. I have tried many ROMs and this is by far my favourite. Can't wait to they upgrade to Oreo
Hi @AnonUser101 thanks for that information. Can you also please share the link of the version that tried please.
I could find only 2 ROMs ie cm and Orion....
Just flash both and decide which suits you...
