Hi guys,
i'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to Android devices, so please excuse my stupid questions.
First some facts about my device:
ROOT: Enabled
BOOTLOADER: Locked and not changeable
ROM: Latest available official release
(hope that helps at least a bit)
#1: Is it possible to bypass the bootloader lock via root? If so, how?
#2: If there is no way to bypass the lock, is it possible to modify the rom anyway? Because i want to add the swapon/swapoff functionality to expand the available ram via a swap partition on my external SD card. (already checked via terminal if swapon/swapoff is available)
Thank you in advance for your help. I hope there's a solution to my problem.

You're right - your phone isn't allowed a bootloader unlock.
Without bootloader unlock, you can't change ROMs, but you can install ICS, which is a bit faster than Jelly Bean, even slightly more than CyanogenMod. In fact, even with an unlocked bootloader, I'm using ICS. Here's how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579233
Now, you said you're a noob when it comes to Android, so here's how to flash an FTF:
This process will remove all installed apps, contacts and settings. Any music, stuff on the internal storage (the one for music etc.) or the microSD will be preserved.
0. Make sure you're on Windows 7 or below. For some reason, this doesn't work with Windows 8 or 8.1, so you'll have to get a 7 PC somehow.
1. Download Androxyde's Flashtool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 (use the unrestrict.li link, it's better)
2. Install it. By default, it is installed to C:\Flashtool. Open this folder, and then the "drivers" one. You'll see a driver setup file. Install the Flashtool and Fastboot drivers (in the list, they're on the bottom).
3. Now go back to the Flashtool folder, and open "firmwares". Put your FTF file here.
4. Open Flashtool. Click the lightning icon. Ensure that Flashmode is selected, and press OK. Choose the C1605 11.1.A.0.68 file, and press Flash.
5. When it tells you to, turn off your phone. Plug in the USB cable into your computer. Hold volume down (do not hold the power button), and (point of no return now) plug the phone into the USB cable connected to your phone. The notification light will glow green, and hopefully everything will start flashing. When the Flashtool window tells you to disconnect your phone and turn it on, do so. Set it up, and you're on ICS!
If you want to go back to Jelly Bean, download this FTF: https://www.mediafire.com/?3fmmkbmlqtjd6cy and put it into the "firmwares" folder. Now follow the guide step 4 onward, but select "11.3.A.2.23" for Jelly Bean.
Whew, long post.
So, in principle i downgrade the device to ics with an unlocked bootloader and then can flash a custom rom that is jb based, with all features i need to expand the ram?

No, ICS won't enable you to unlock your bootloader OR install CWM OR install a custom ROM. ICS is faster than any other custom ROM (other than XboosT, which is basically ICS on steroids), so if you can't have custom ROMs, the next best thing is ICS.
Another noob's question:
I installed Xposed a few days ago on my c1505 (stock firmware, locked bl). It worked perfectly. But i've read from another post that if i remove it my phone won't boot. So is there any way to remove it without breaking my device?? Waiting for answers.

But UltraGamerHD is still using his phone (in fact, he's making CM11...), right?
Right now, I uninstalled Xposed, rebooted, installed Xposed, rebooted. Nothing called a brick (although I did lose a cool Xposed mod for a reboot). Well, whatever. Uninstalling doesn't brick.
In fact, the problem in the topic is either:
1. The phone hard-bricking, which is not related to Xposed at all.
OR
2. The phone's battery being discharged to 0%, to the point where the phone cannot turn itself on and start charging.

I did brick it once, I went to the Orange UK store in my local town and he said he used software similar to PC Companion.
Go to phoneunlockserver.com and unlock your bootloader even if it says no for £10 GBP --> Use Google Currency to Convert Price.
Since it is kind of on topic.

So I have a Moto G XT1033 Asia Dual Sim. I was using Kitkat and was very happy with it. Then I updated to Lollipop via OTA and soon figured out I was better off on Kitkat. As I knew how to downgrade, I thought let's give this a try and via some tutorials online I managed to downgrade my phone to Kitkat using some automated .bat files and cmd..
The moment I shifted to Kitkat I came across this issue that the screen flickers while booting and there is no way we can solve that the only solution is lock/unlock the screen and the flicker will go away. After using it for 2 to 3 days I suddenly came across this issue that my phone is leaking battery like crazy. I have attached some screenshots below with wake locks. The phone is showing AWAKE a lot of times. I am now thinking of going back to Lollipop (At least the phone was working fine on 5.0).
Also my phone bootloader is unlocked with custom TWRP recovery and Rooted.
What help I need from XDA :
1. Can you guys tell me what's the issue with the battery leak?
2. How do I update now to 5.0 from this ROM? (As my phone is rooted so I am guessing I will have to flash the zip file) (Found this file in XDA Stock 5.0 collection Retail Asia 5.0.2 Stock ROM (Untouched) (519mb))
3. If I flash this 5.0 file do I have to flash the radio files?
4. After moving back to 5.0 I want to make the phone the way it was earlier (No Root No custom recovery and Bootloader locked) (Any links will help me)
5. My reason to create this thread was, if there is some major issue I can get it solved as my phone will be in warranty only till 30th May. So please help guys.

Since you upgraded your ROM the bootloader will automatically upgrade to lollipop version 41.05(Kitkat) to 41.18(Lollipop). It's better to use lollipop.

No ways then the best option is to just update it to Lollipop and keep the phone alive..
So in that case I should just flash the file mentioned?
Also can you give some links to unroot, remove TWRP and lock bootloader?
And are these battery issues cos of the lollipop bootloader on kitkat?

Baseband version
I just used the stock file to update my Moto G XT 1033 Dual Sim to Lollipop. Checked the About phone section with few of my friends and figured that my baseband version is different from them? What is the issue? I also flashed Radio files of 5.0.2 for XT1033
My Baseband is MSM8626BP_1032.3105.93.00R. ROW_DSDS_CUST
All other friends baseband is MSM8626BP_1032.3105.93.00R. EMEA_DSDS_CUST
Also from the time I have downgraded my phone from Lollipop to kitkat and then updated to lollipop using these zip files I have no 3G or 2G data on my Relaince GSM card? Can anyone please help me with this? I am connecting with Reliance they are saying there is some issue in their network but I just want to be sure from my end if I am not doing anything wrong?
Also after flashing the 502 radio files my phone battery is going bonkers yesterday night from 77% it went to 0 on stand by. No phone usage at all. Checked the stats it's showing mobile radio used the battery for 7 hours.

I have my old Nvidia shield tablet and i have WiFi off and powered off.
I've been reading you can stop the kill switch from i guess changing the boot loader or operating system?
I new to this stuff.
Could someone just give me some directions on how to go threw this process please.
I don't know if it's to late cause i have the most recent update? but like i said it's turned off and WiFi is off and i heard that the kill switch is sent over the internet to your device and you don't have to confirm it.
So i hope my system is safe until i can do what ever you guys advise me to do.
Thank you...
treat your old tablet before connecting the new one to internet
Hello. You have to delete a folder (/system/apps/TegraOTA if you are on last firmware, with OTA 3.1) but to do this, you need root as folders in /system are not visible for the normal (unrooted) user. Or you flash a custom firmware, and flash nomoreOTA.zip that you'll find in the same forum : http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/general/kill-kill-switch-shield-tablet-xx-t3179489
Be sure to act before you use your new tablet, and ideally do the same to the new one before connecting it to internet. Then the kill switch maybe will not even be sent to you/your old tablet.
:fingers-crossed:
edit : do a search here for 'root shield tablet lollipop' if you need info to get root or flash custom recovery : http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...t-root-nvidia-shield-tablet-lollipop-t2972316
Note also that if you choose to (and succeed to) flash another (custom) ROM, such as Blisspop, you'll be safe as those custom roms avoid the kill switch (no /system/apps/TegraOTA folder in them)
If your new tablet is never activated then in theory the killswitch should never be sent out. So as far as I can see flashing a custom rom on the new device before letting it boot into android or connect to the internet should prevent device from showing as having been activated.
Also blocking Nvidia's OTA servers on the network level (you'll need custom firmware on your router) should do the trick as well.
Block all of these:
Code:
23.32.163.186
e886.g.akamaiedge.net
ota.nvidia.com.edgekey.net
ota.nvidia.com
Also it might be worth looking into whether flashing nomoreOTA.zip on the new tablet works to the same effect.
I used my new tablet and the both were working for the day, both have no problems so far.
I've been reading that they are sending out kill switches in 4 segments, by using the last 2 digits of the serial numbers system.
So mine hasn't gone threw yet i don't think.
So i need to root it?
Then delete the OTA file?
Then flash a custom firmware?
Thanks guys...
Just root it, do a full wipe=factory reset in TWRP and flash a custom Rom like Bliss and you will be OK.

Just for info, I found out today that, even if my new tablet was also flashed with nomoreOTA.zip, and even if I did it before there was any internet connexion from it, my old tablet is now flagged and an urgent OTA (in fact the kill switch) is waiting to be sent to it. Of course it still works, thanks to nomoreOTA.zip. But Nvidia did flag the old tablet after 10 days use of the new one (maybe they check serial numbers of tablets connected to grid or to another Nvidia server). Both my old and my new tablets are still working.

Can you flash with TWRP?
And someone said all i have to do is...
"Full Process
1) Unlock Bootloader.
2) Flash TWRP Recovery.
3) Get the no more OTA.zip from XDA and flash it via TWRP
4) Check if the update option is removed from Settings, if not flash it again.
Done! "
Is that ok also?

Ok i followed the http://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...t-root-nvidia-shield-tablet-lollipop-t2972316
I got to "On the tablet, select "recovery reboot"
But i didn't see it so i selected reboot, i rebooted and was on stock i think?
1) I can see that a few more steps and i'm rooted.
But i'm nervous to try this again from that point.
Should i just start at unlocking the boot loader?
2) Is rooting the device permanently unlocking the boot loader?
3) can i just no OTA from unlocking the boot loader part?
Ok i got to side loader and in the command it says error can't find device and there's an android guy on his back with a red statement mark.
So I'm in developer USB.
I have unlocked the boot loader
I'm flashing the recovery
And i get to restart in recovery.
Then i get the menus to side load the supersu.zip
I renamed it with out caps, i even made a folder in C:\Program Files\Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
Cause it installed at C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
just to avoid the (x86)
when i try and leave the menu to reset it asked me to root, but i had the error so don't want to brick it if rooting with an error on side loading supersu.zip
What do i do?

You have unlocked bootloder and installed cwm recovery so yay! Download the SuperSU file on your tablet. Make sure you know where it downloaded to. Boot your tablet o to fastboot menu using the power/vol down. Select recovery mode using volume then power to select. Chose install zip then from sdcard (not the sdcard1) chose 0/ then search for where you put SuperSU and select it. Install. Then navigate to reboot. If asked to fix root pick yes

You don't need a card the sdcard referee to is your internal memory on your tablet. Not sure why ADB isn't working but I had a similar issue with cwm once.

Thank you...
Hello. I have broken my XPERIA E3. I had cyanogenmod 12 (works in 5.0 android) there and I wanted to get stock ROM. I tried to flash 4.4.4 android, but now I can't do anything. Phone turns off, there is "SONY XPERIA", and after that it turns off. I can't stop it, but I can wait when the phone gets discharged. After that I can use ANDROXYDE FLASHTOOL FOR XPERIA, but I don't know what can I flash. Please help me .
It does not matter if you give me tutorial to get stock ROM, or stay in the cyanogenmod. I need only make the phone work. Please. When I'll fix it, I will never install alternative roms or something like that. thanks.

I don't understand you bro... I can use the POWER button. But I don't know what I have to flash .
I suppose that since you were using cyanogenmod, you had model number D2203.
Explain to me:
-How did you flash 4.4.4 stock?
-Did you have a backup?

What are your problems on the ROMX and why aren't you posting about them in the ROMX thread? I've used the ROM aswell and rarely had issues on it.
I suggest you post your issues on the ROMX thread, and im sure you will get some help if someone (maybe myself) can help you with it.
If that won't be the case, ill help you to go back to stock or move to another ROM

I asked there a month ago and tried the solutions but the problems are continuing (WiFi drops and restarts every 5 to 10 mins). So I thought downgrading could maybe solve the problem.

Oh I see, sorry I missed your post there then (or I forgot about it).
Have you tried to clean flash the ROM again? What version of ROMX are you running?
All you have to do to go back to stock Sony ROM:
- Download flashtool and in flashtool go to Xperifirm and download the latest firmware for your device model.
- After downloading the firmware you want, you'll have to click the lightning button and chose flashmode.
- Select every box under wipe..
- Turn off your phone and plug it in your usb port on PC with USB cable while pressing volume DOWN button (green led should light up)
- Click flash to start the flashing process.
You can flash MarshMallow 5.11 firmware, or if you want the latest android version then download 32.3.A.2.33 Nougat firmware.
- Make sure to backup your files first before flashing anything.
If you need more help let us know

I did all of this and downgraded to Lollipop and still same problems. Wiped again and upgraded to Nougat and still the same issues. Although I'm sending this from my phone, the random restarts still occur and the WiFi sometimes doesn't work and says 'Turning on' and the on switch is greyed out. Any help?
Have you tried wiping everything in flashtool even ssd and all, if yes then maybe your battery is damaged and phone has not enough power to work properly.
