Remove headphone notification pop up - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, returning to android after a several year hiatus on an iPhone. Couple of things really annoying me. One is every time I plug my headphones in I get this stupid notification asking me if I want to enhance my audio experience. I do not for the last time! How the hell do I stop this popping up ? Searched around but can't find anything.
Other things annoying me like "Whats new" and other sony crap but I've found some other info on the forum to remove that which I need to try. But nothing on the headphone pop up thing?
Thanks,

"Improve your headphone sound" screenshots attached.

I got no idea either, it's pretty annoying. The normal way of holding down on the notification and "blocking notifications" isn't an option here. I didn't have this problem on Lollipop, which country version are you using?

I only got it the first time Marshmallow opened but not anymore. Try enabling and disabling the option.

Yeah, I have not spotted this either, get the ear icon on the screen, that I would have to manually open to get the screen you show

old post, but just for anyone else:
double tap the notification, enable the sound enhancer, allow it permission to record
then disable sound enhancer again.
this seems to have got rid of the notification for me

Random Notification Sounds?

Maybe someone else can help me with this.
Every so often during the day I keep getting a random notification sound with no visual as to what it is. The sound is 5 tones going in a descending pattern and sounds metallic. I do not have NFC turned on nor the facebook app. I checked all my apps and sounds. I even read a lot of threads else where and tried everyone's suggestion. Still does it. I searched my phone for *.ogg and *.wav files. Nothing.
I do have a wallet case but since NFC is off its not that. I've never heard this sound before. It only started a few days ago and I've have this phone for over a month. FYI I'm running the Hola launcher and omni swipe if that helps. Any suggestions?
I am thinking to uninstall ALL my apps and see if it still does it, but I really dont want to have to do that if I can avoid it.:silly:

It's not the launcher. It doesn't matter.
This is why I hardly ask anything here. No one cares.
If your not a popular member you never get a reply.
I'll just ask my questions elsewhere where people actually care about you.
Are you using googles smartlock feature? When I first started using it I was receiving this weird notification which sounds like what you're talking about. It don't do it no more for some reason but man was it so annoying not knowing what the heck your phone is trying to tell you.

Hey there.
I have been checking back on this topic for a while because my wife's Note Edge is having the same exact problem. I even reached out to Samsung Mobile Support and they can't even figure out what it is. All they did was tinker with the sound settings and asked me if it was fixed. I have tried disabling all possible notifications from all possible apps. The only thing left is to do a factory reset it seems. Any luck on your end?

Well that's not a pessimistic attitude or anything whatsoever! lol. Here's the thing... It might help to try and remember that nobody is on here getting paid to spend their time answering your questions all day long, so unfortunately it's inevitable that there will be times when people might just have to figure their problems out on their own or just be forced to wait until someone responds.. no matter how "popular" they might be.
This entire community wouldn't exist if weren't for all of the people on here who have been and are willing to spend their own free time sharing their knowledge with and helping others, so it's pretty ridiculous to sit there and act like it's a personal assault whenever nobody answers your question right away! From my experience on here people (including myself) are always more than willing to help out whenever they can (as long as the people are willing to help themselves too), but since nobody is getting paid people need to realize that it's more of a "self help" type of community than anything.
There are literally mountains of freely available information for people to search through to try to find their answers with, and with enough determination and persistence 99% of the time people could answer their own questions without ever even having to ask. So I'm definitely not trying to be rude or anything but it's just all in how you look at it.. because when people come here expecting to be handed all of the answers then they're most likely going to be disappointed and upset, but when you come here looking to help yourself instead you'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes and how rarely you'll have to ask any questions.
Anyway I'll try helping with some suggestions below since they're having the same problem too..

Ok I've actually had a similar problem in the past and I can't guarantee anything but hopefully this might help..
In my situation it turned out being "profiles" that I didn't realize were turned on, and they were causing rogue and unknown sounds to happen because they were overriding my ringer and media volume settings based on the time of day it was. So all I had to do was turn off the profiles and it solved the problem, but it depends on the rom that you're on as to whether or not profiles like that are even an option.
If not another thing I'd recommend doing (and I'm obviously not sure what all you've tried so I'm just trying to cover the bases just in case) is to get a root explorer (as long as you're rooted.. if not I'm honestly not sure what to tell ya) and navigate to the root folder .. then go to "system/media", and inside there should be a folders called ui, notification, and ringtones.. and this where all of the default notification sounds are located. I would go through and listen to each one of them (they should be .ogg files) and see if you can find a match to the one you're hearing, and if you do then you can just rename that file .bak instead of .ogg and that should stop it from playing randomly (basically a bandaid type fix).
If it's not any of the system sounds then you've basically narrowed it down to where it's most likely an app that's making the sound. If that's the case then what I'd do is go into Titanium Backup and filter it to only show "user apps" and then have it sort them by the date which they were installed, and then I'd just start going down the list looking for apps I've installed that could possibly be making the sound.. that way even if you have a general idea around when the problem started happening you can match that time frame up with apps that were installed around that time to narrow down your search (if that makes sense anyway).
Anyway that's what I would do to start at least and hopefully it helps!

heh. I have an idea. You know those crappy applications on the edge? Some of them are games. I remember i used to have this issue with the memory one. Remove them from the edge. No root required. Just remove the panels from the panel configurator.

Not sure if this is gonna help you or not. But yesterday I started to getbthe same metallic noises, I only recall 1 change to my settings and that was installing the live wallpaper on the lock screen to show me pictures based in weather and such. And since then every hour or so it makes the sound. Try to find out if you did the same thing.
Random notification sound
I am having a similar problem which has been widely reported but none of the suggested fixes are working for me. The notification tone keeps sounding in a seemingly random way. There is no notification to match the tone. This is not just a beep or random noise. It is the default notification tone. (Skyline for completeness). This happens maybe 5 or 6 times in 24 hours. It has been happening for about 10 days.
I am running Android 8.0.0 (Samsung Experience version 9) on a Galaxy S8. The phone is not rooted.
I have turned off all notifications individually.
I have turned off notifications for the phone.
I have turned off notification reminders (it was never on).
I have turned off NFC and bluetooth.
I have checked under Accessibility settings.
I have uninstalled every app installed in the last 3 weeks.
I can reproduce the NFC and credit card issue but that is a single beep and not what I am talking about.
I have installed 3 different notification log readers (NS Notification, Notif log notification history and Notification Log). None of them show any activity at the times when I am getting the spurious tone.
When I re-enable notifications for Texts, Messenger and WhatsApp, I still receive these as normal.
I recently got a new dual band router and thought maybe the tone was the phone jumping from 2.4 to the 5 Ghz band or vice-versa. It wasn't. I thought it might be the phone jumping from telecoms provider to WiFi. Tested that too and that's not it.
Next step is a factory reset which I am trying to avoid.
I know this is bringing problems to the table, not solutions but this is really bugging me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dumb Problem with Alarms and other Sounds

I feel pretty foolish for not being able to figure this out, but I've exhausted my store of ideas.
I can't change the sound for alarms, ringtones, or notifications. I have been fighting with this all day today, and went so far as doing a factory reset, which was a massive pain. The grand finale is that I STILL can't change it.
Any time I click the sound option in alarms, I can navigate through the files on my phone and "click" an mp3. This brings me back to the alarm options page as if it were a success, but "morning flower" is still the sound it displays and I'm assuming it's the name of the sound I hear when the alarm sounds (it's an annoying jingle).
What is worse, my ringtone is now a horrific beeping and any time I try changing it I have exactly the same end result: the song selection seems like it worked, but the ringtone is called "beep once" and sure enough it just beeps (but not only once). With notifications when I select a song the name is "default notification sound (media)," but the phone only vibrates (and yes I did make sure the sound was up).
I feel like I'm 95 and have picked up a smart phone for the first time ever, because I'm utterly baffled and no matter what I do the thing seems to be ignoring and defying me on this issue. In short, wtf?
I've only noticed these kinds of problems since I bought an o2 prepaid sim for my trip to Germany, which I had to fight against Verizon's bloatware and such in order to use. I've been using package disabler pro to kill VZW's slimy influence; is it possible that one of those apps controls media access somehow? Also, could Amaze file manager be somehow incompatible with the settings? I'm really frustrated and I'm not able to find a satisfying ad-free app that can take care of this stuff without being thwarted. What should I do here?
facepalm
Now I feel even stupider for going through all that, giving up, and coming here to post this rant. For any who ever come across this post, be sure to clear defaults for your file manager and then come back to the alarm sound selection and click "media storage" when it asks which app you want to use. Then you can click "add sound" and use your file manager through that interface to select the song. Don't get mad, get to the "clear defaults."

Did indeed. I learned how to mess about with Android and rooting with 4.4 and under but my Note 5 isn't rootable and so I don't play with it as much. I guess my skills are slipping, or perhaps they were never that great to begin with. That old galaxy Nexus was sure faithful and fun though.

Xperia xz dual sim notification sounds problem

Hi All,
Recently I got my xperia xz dual sim and directly updated it to Nougat.. So dont know how it is on 6.x
I noticed something weird. Basically with whatsapp notification sounds so far. When i get a whatsapp message, sometimes the notificatiom tone works normally and sometimes it is cut.. I mean sometimes i hear just the first part of it.. Did anyone see this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Did anyone face that?
Thanks,
any news friends?
Seriously no one noticed it? :fingers-crossed:
I don't use WhatsApp, but I noticed another weird notification glitch. And this may seem different to yours, unfortunately.
I have an app (my local ISP's) which, very rarely, pops a notification regarding an offer or a service update. And when that happens, the notification sound is different (something I did not set as it is not customisable) and, worse, it JUST DOES NOT STOP! It keeps buzzing and buzzing and buzzing. Dismissing the text from the drop-down does not shut it either, and I am forced to restart the device. This didn't happen with any other app, though (and most of those pop up notifications way more often).
Likewise, another annoying bug I noticed was that the phone/system update notifier became a constant presence in the drop-down even if THERE WAS NO UPDATE on offer from Sony.
Full resets did not help and, anyway, I decided to move on. Cashed in on an attractive offer and traded it for a Google Pixel earlier today.
I hope you find a solution to yours, a_k_gano.

Did you try reinstalling WhatsApp?
On that note, I noticed notification and ringer sounds to "cut" abruptly when I tried listening to them while, for example, choosing a tone (be it notification, alarm or ringer). I am referring to the sounds menu under Settings. Come to think, this comes closest to what you have described and no, I didn't find a solution to that either.

this happens to me randomly... when i receive a notification, sometimes it cuts and sometimes it works normally... mainly happens with whatsapp or this is what i noticed so far. I reinstalled whatsapp, I did factory reset to the phone... but no progress so far.
I can say.. for two days after the 7.1.1 SW update, the problem stopped happening
Oh good! I did get an alert on my email that a new update is ready. But I don't have the phone, traded it up for a Pixel.
This is 7.1.1 and not 7.1.2?
you use whatsapp beta or original one from play store
7.1.1 don't have the problem

Remove persistent Bluetooth notification on most LG Android Oreo

I will continue to search for a different solution as this will also make the Bluetooth settings FC, unusable and it sucks. Only useful for a person who uses just 1 Bluetooth device. No way to select a device.
Back to square one.
I updated to Oreo with the new flashable rooted zip made by @dudeawesome. I noticed that new Bluetooth persistent notification. I figured there was a quick way to disable, but there isn't. You can snooze for a max 2 hours on LG V20, but if you disable Bluetooth and enable again, it's back. While I admit, I can see how this can be useful to some, but definitely not for everyone. This should be optional, not just shoved in our notification area.
If you have root, and titanium backup pro, perhaps there's a free app that can do it, Idk.
Search for Bluetooth, open the right one, grayish color Bluetooth, on mine it is version 6.20.46, I imagine that is is the same for everyone on Oreo using an LG V20.
Freeze that sucker and you are good to go....gone forever, or at least until you factory reset or change roms.

Sorry friend....I figured if you know how to root, and know about titanium...then there's not much to explain.
Are you rooted? do you have paid version of titanium backup or other apps that allows you to freeze or uninstall system apps?
Look for the grayish color Bluetooth, on mine it is version 6.20.46. Freeze it. Nothing else to it.
Yes yes yes. I am rooted and know how. You just made it sound as though you did it in lg oreo settings. That is all. Good day!
HELL NAHH. The new Bluetooth toggle in the status bar is BADAZZ. It's very usefull that I find. I use a LG HBS780 Bluetooth headset all day and when I want to switch to phone speaker to show a person a recorded video/youtube or anything with sound... I simply select V20 button and sound switches to phone speaker then when I'm done I press LG HBS780 button, It's CONVENIENT !!.
I wouldn't disable mine. I dont have to turn my headset on and off and wait for disconnect and reconnect anymore, it was so annoying hearing the "disconnected reconnected" robot voice and ding sound over and over.... Now it just a press of a button with no annoyances.

Phone vibrates when I pick it up.

Well, as the title says, everytime I pick up my phone I feel a little vibration (and no, I don't have the "smart alert" thing turned on). I tried not to be worried about it but I can't not notice it. Any ideas?

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

There are apps that log notifications so you can just check the log and quickly determine what is causing the notification even if nothing is showing on-screen

If they catch it. Consider which sensors and operation triggers it, cause and effect, to narrow it down.
Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.
Only persistence is omnipotent...
I figured that out by chance..
It's the edge-compass app
Just delete it from edge apps and it'll go away.. cheers

Well, I've checked all that and nothing, I don't even have the compass edge panel. But I think I'm able to replicate the issue, it mostly happens when my phone is face down on a surface and I pick it up and turn it to me, I don't have a case on it yet and I'm starting to think that it might have something to do with the edge screen but so far no luck

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.
