How to get rid of volume warning? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note5

I have a bluetooth speaker that I use on occasion. I have tasker set up so that when I connect the speaker it automatically loads pandora on my phone, waits a few seconds, then sets media volume to max (15). However, it doesn't seem to be able to set the volume up high enough and I think it's because of the volume limit and the warning. Is there any workaround for this without rooting right now?

I am having the same issue and am also looking for a way to get rid of the high volume warning message.
Thanks!

You can use autoinput. It is a tasker plugin. You can set it to hit ok when the warning message comes up, then repeat the max volume when the message is gone.

I've installed it and tried to get autoinput going, but I can't figure out exactly which options to put. I see it as an option in tasker as a plugin, but then I have to choose between action, global action, modes, root, screen capture, UI query or unlock screen. I've tried some different combinations, mostly with action, but can't seem to figure it out. Any specifics would be appreciated.

You want to go to auto input action. Then select configure.
You want to select click for action
Text for field type
The I think field text would be "ok" so that is the field that is clicked when the box comes up.

Thanks for the help. I finally got this to work. I tried it your way and it didn't seem to work, but, after messing with it (for a log longer than I'd like to admit), I hit the easy setup button at the top, then after swiping away a couple of windows I was able to press volume up until the volume warning came up and I hit "OK". When I went back into tasker it asked me if I wanted to choose the field coordinates or the text field "OK". I just chose OK and the rest was just setting up timings.
If anyone is curious how I got it set up I've attached a screenshot of the tasker screen. Unfortunately it doesn't show anything about the OK screen since that was done through the easy setup.

Single press device Lock

Folks, any idea how to switch off the screen / lock the keyboard without the need of double press the red power button?
This is kind of bothering cause when you're in a application and need quickly to put your Treo into your pocket, you need to press 1st to get to the home-screen and 2nd to switch off.
Yeah, seems to be something new with the 750 (no other treo before did this). Palm set this up purposely, so I wouldn't assume there's a workaround for it. You'll get used to double clicking
Not that I know
I have used it for ages and found many shortcuts but no "quick lock".
Sorry
How about getting an application that device locks your phone upon return from standby? I use BatteryStatus Today Plugin by Chi Tai Dang.. This plugin has the option to lock device on wakeup and set cpu speed(I use this a lot)..
But mine's a wizard, what do I know about Treo.. but what I do now is, press the power button to get the phone to go into standby and when I want to use it again, I press the power button and it will device lock upon wake up.
I don't have a Treo. How do you initiate said keyboard lock normally?

"Device lock" that you may know of isn't used on Treo's. Palm uses their own "keyguard," which uses the red END button as a power button when not on the phone. If you are on the today screen, one click will shut the device off. However, if you are in another program, the first tap brings you to the today screen, and the second click turns the screen off (and the keyguard on if you have selected it to be that way). On all other treo's, WM or POS, one click of the end button would shut the screen off (unless you were on the phone obviously, it would be the END function), regardless of what program you were in. Palm changed this, I assume, to be like most cell phones, where when you press the END key it returns to the home screen, regardless of what you were doing. Like a RAZR would do.
Thats the best way I can explain it. You would be surprised Vijay on how many customizations Palm made to the OS.
Yes, I've heard that they did - thank Goodness one of the OEMs finally saw fit to do something original.
Hmm.. from what you describe, clicking twice doesn't seem like a very big chore... I did something similar in VJOkButt. Is it really necessary to convert the 2 clicks to 1 click? Investigating it barely seems worth the effort
V
I agree, hence my original post.
When you are on the today screen, it works normally. And you can double-click quite rapidly and it will work. Not a big deal for me.
yes guys, its not that dramatical, but still, it would be an improvement also considering that I want to stay in that one application (a note which I'm editing) and want to get there after waking up the device again without the need of again starting application, look for the last note, opening etc...
with HTC hermes and others the power button works exactly like this and its even better.
Hi all,
If you're using it two handed hold option (the white key, left hand end of row 3) and press the red button once - closes the app and powers off.
But you need an odd-shaped hand to do that one handed!
It is not that the double click isn't easy to do, it's waht fire00 said; if you are in an app, it closes it and then powers off. Case in point, this weekend while driving to a friend's house, I had directions in my email and would have liked to have turned off the phone, but then I would have to find the email again and open it up. On my Wizard, i would just turn it off and then back on and the email would be there for me.
Gotta be a reg hack for someone to find.

On my device, that method doesn't close the app. It just locks the keyboard and then powers off. When I power on again, the app is still running and on screen. I think that's what fire00 was looking for.

Sorry PJC ACE, my mis-type - using option + red button powers the device off WITHOUT closing the app - just like the power button on the Wizard ;-)

Option (hold)+Red Phone button is a nice alternative, but I'd really like to find a way to prevent the Red Phone from reverting to the Today screen, so I can power off directly with it with one press...Vodafone's excuse for specifically asking for it this way (every other phone's "End" button brings you back to the "home" screen) is ridiculous, these aren't like every other phone.
I installed HTC home plugin and now my red button wont let me go into standby. I uninstalled and still not working. Any ideas?
Side Button + Suspend
There is a thread at TreoCentral that explaines how to activate the side button and make it available for button assignment in the settings screen.
Second there is a small program called suspend.
I have mapped the 1 press of the side button to suspend and away we go.
1 - Click keyguards/screen off.
Also it resume in the place or program you left when you unlock it.

with does power off equal hide all apps

I'd really like to be able to put my device to sleep, without having to background whatever app I'm using.
It's very strange. I don't think I've seen another phone that doesn't have a separate power button, from the exit this app button.
Any ideas?
Hmm.
No one has any idea?
I know that riddled throughout this board there are probably a half a dozen apps to turn off your phone, and activate the keylock. Does anyone have any suggestions for some good ones, that I could then assign to the "hold and run" button on the left of the Treo?
Ones that work with WM6?
I'm really surprised that other people don't even seem to want or care about this. The only real advantage of WM6 over PalmOS .. to me... are things like multitasking.
What good is a phone that won't let you keep an app on the screen? Why would I want to constantly have to bring apps to the front again and again and again? I want to be able to turn off my phone, turn it on.. make an entry in an app, and turn it off again, all without opening and closing the app.
Gee.. how strange!
WM devices are 'Today' screen based, hence it automatically switch back to Today screen after a set period of time. You can't change this 'habbit', but you can prolong the period of time.
Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items -> Today timeout

This has nothing to do with what I'm asking about, but it is helpful info. However, my today option has the ability to turn off the today timeout altogether. Perhaps it is WM6 based?
Regardless, I'm talking.. again.. about the screen off button of the treo.. that is also the exit button, that is also the end call button.

If you turn off the timeout, the last app will stay when you switch off your phone (e.g. the Today will not appear and sending your app background).
If this REALLY doesnt have NOTHING to do with what you are asking for, I surrender and good luck on your quest.

I had two separate posts above, and of course they are related in this thread. Context, my man. My first post clearly talks about how my issue is with the power button, and how my issue has to do with the power button forcing you back to the today screen before it will let you power off the unit.
Fair enough, you missed my first post, and only read my second post in this same thread. No harm done.
I am also mystified why the power button constantly forces screen back to Home....I would think this is a real pain for most people??
Any fixes/hacks?
TIA
To do what you want, there's an usefull application: AE Button Plus (http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php) This small applicacion allows you to remap buttons. To switch off the screen what I've done is assign the action "switch off device"

I tried AEBP but this only seems to "Switch Display On/Off" during a phone call, NOT when in an application.
I don't see a "Switch Off Device" option. Did I miss something?

I found "Power off" (I think it was called that) in the list of options to assign to a button. I assigned it to "hold side button", one click. My device now shuts off when I hold that button in.
Thanks to the dude that suggested this! Now to see how it affects my device...

[APP][WIP][DEVS NEEDED] Hands Free Now [ALPHA]

HANDS FREE NOW
Hands Free Now is an attempt to fix the bug in Google Now that Google itself never fixed.
As most of you know, as of Android 4.1+, our headsets are configured to work as follows:
1. Single press for play/pause
2. Double press for next
3. Long press for Google Now
However, the long press option does not work when the screen is off. It works only when screen is on. This is a bizarre lack of feature because if the screen is on and unlocked, you might as well click the mic on the desktop widget to launch Google Now. Why would you need the long press option anyway?!
Several attempts were made by many people to bring Googler's attention to this lack of feature, but all of em were conveniently turned down.
So I guess it's up to us to fix it.
I have started making this app but being the newbie that I am, I'm not sure if I can finish it alone. That's why I request you guys to help me out with this.
Uploaded below is the first apk
Concept in brief:
1. Launch Audio service that intercepts media KeyEvents
2. Once KeyEvents are triggered, create an empty StandOut window that blocks the entire display.
3. Wake up device, disable keyguard and launch Google Now
4. Release wakelock immediately. and reenable keyguard
5. Kill process in 10 seconds
Steps to use:
1. Install app
2. Open app from launcher once. You can go back to Home after this if you want
3. Lock screen.
4. Jack in the head set and triple press the button.
5. Device should unlock itself and in some time will launch Google Now
6. Fire your voice command and wait for response.
7. In 10 seconds, the screen will lock again.
8. For these 10 seconds, your phone will not respond to touches (this is intentional and by design, because you would not want your phone to "pocket dial" while travelling)
Release Notes:
1. App is currently incompatible with music players
2. Battery effectiveness is unknown; you might have to uninstall it once you have tested it
If you can help, the source code can be found on GitHub.
Installed app, but it wont launch after 3 presses of the button, I get a double beep sound when doing so.
I can help out with testing if you want but as far as coding goes im not very useful xD
Bluetooth too?
Will it work with Bluetooth headsets as well or only wired ones?
THANK YOU!
I registered just to say thank you, your little app allowed me to have the kind of music control I alway longed for since i passed from iPhone to Nexus 5. I'm truly grateful.:good:
I had the problem when the screen was off. After when I long press the little button on my headset. Then comes a black screen with a message: please wait (initializing) but nothing does.
But this app solve my problem!
Now I can use Google Now over my Headset.
Thank you very much! ?
Seems an old thread, but nevertheless: Thank you! Finally it works!
I'm just curious if it would be possible to change add long-press functionality. The app AutoVoice is capable of receiving a long press (also with locked screen). But it doesn't help because it relies on the not working Google Search.
Possible idea: your App could register as a service capable of receiving the VOICE_SEARCH_HANDS_FREE intent, it could receive the long press and start its procedure. It won't work immediately because Android will display the "Choose default app" prompt, that obviously doesn't work when the screen is locked/off. In order to choose the default app one has to wake the screen and manually override the keyguard/lock (for example via Secure Settings Plugin and Tasker). The override is somewhat buggy, and even though the screen is on, the phone still 'thinks' it's locked. Now: long-press to receive the command for long-press while locked, see menu and select default app. ..Hope my explanation isn't too bad.
I'm investigation another workaround to get it working with music player.
Best regards, Grtschnk

is it possible to control the phone during a call? E.g. when you enter a menu, press 1 for etc..
It seems that I still need to reach out to the phone for that, or do I do something wrong?

The current version of AirDroid does not support that With AirDroid, you can initiate or end a call on the web browser, but you still have to take your phone to speak and listen, and to use the dial tone, like "press 1 for....".

Assistant button customizable without root

First remove any command or app linked to the assistant button in phone settings.
Now you need the latest beta of tasker (5.9 beta 8 fixed) from playstore or from this url (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UfMEt1H6wjlMDdsqByn-flCRqE45PdJ1/view) and set a logcat entry input.
Tasker will ask for READ_LOGS permission, grant it with adb.
After that, in logcat entry settings a popup should appear, as fast as you can press "play" to start recording logcat then press the assistant button and then press "stop" recording. Now you should have a short list of events that happened on your phone between play and stop.
The event you need is called something like "inputReader key event: device=8 type=0x0001 value..." so find it and click it.
If everything is ok you should have on tasker the logcat entry command as following (or something like that):
Component:
InputReader
Filter:
key event: device=8 type=0x0001 value=0x00000001
Now you just need to set a task for this command like torch or whatever you like.
Thanks!
it works well
"device=10 type=0x0001 value=0x00000001"
thank you

the instructions given are not very clear for my noob brain to comprehend, but after days of fiddling i finally figured out and will try to explain this step by step as clear as possible for those who are confused like i was.
1. Add profile - go to "profile" tab and add a profile (the plus thing)
2. select "event", then at the bottem of the popup type "logcat entry". then select it.
3. at the "Component" row, click the magnifying glass icon, a popup shows up then press "ok",
4. u should be at homescreen with a play button hovering, press it to start recording, then press the assistant key once, then stop recording.
5. now u see a huge list of logcat events, type in "input" and look for something that looks like:
"InputReader: Key event: device=10 type=0x0001 value=0x00000001 when=79793650102000"
then select it.
6. now this is the part that confused me the most, So at first it wasnt working, It turns out after you recorded the input, at the "Filter" row below "Component", you need to edit the thing to just
"Key event: device=10 type=0x0001 value=0x00000001"
without the "when" param. then it should work.
7. then set it to whatever task. for torch i think you just create new task, look for "torch" then set it to "toggle" or something

I'll have a look in a few minutes but i think the device value just switches between 8 and 10, so we can just make another event in tasker for the value 10 and it should work no matter which value is present at the moment
Edit: So i reboot a few times and got device ID from 6-10. Now it seems to be stuck at 6, really dont know why.
But i'll just keep event with device ID from 6-10 to be sure.
I made clones of the events. Is there a more efficient way to do this? Like an OR argument in a single Event?
Does having Tasker in the background capturing keys use any additional battery?
I have been using shake light from the app store to make it work sorta like my old Motorola (shake the phone for torch) but it requires the app to keep a notification on in order to continue listening in the background and even then sometimes doesn't work if the device is in deep sleep. I'm considering other options and setting that key for torch would be amazing, but I'm wondering if it's any better/worse than what I'm doing now.

Did you disable the assistant button in the normal device settings? This should do the trick. Just search for "assistant" and the relevant settings page should pop up.
