Hello all, first time poster but I've been using xda for a while.
I was following a guys video on youtube on how to Android 6 using ODIN and got to the step of flashing my 5.1.1 bootloader, well it failed.
The phone rebooted and ODIN said FAIL in red.. I now get "SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE 2 BINARY 1" with the Samsung Boot logo.
I've tried Samsung Kies & Smart Switch but it says the device cannot be initialized or something even though it's the correct model and serial number from my sticker.
I've downloaded the 5.1.1 STOCK firmware from SamMobile and selected the TAR file for AP in ODIN and then failed aswell, my phone rebooted and said the same error message "SW REV CHECK FAIL DEVICE 2 BINARY 1"
Could someone please help me, I tried to flash TWRP and that fails too, I ain't bothered about losing everything, would just like my phone to work again please.
Much appreciated if anyone can help!

You could try using a genuine Samsung cable. I find that my other generic cable's are fine for transferring data, but don't play nice with Odin or Kies.

Hi Everybody,
Im a newbie from Vietnam. I just rooted my Galaxy Note 10.1. Then I used Odin to update Rom but it failed. Now When i turn on my tablet, it says: " Firmware update encountered an issue. Pls select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
But Kies cant recognize my tablet and I cant find recovery mode in Kies
I can log into Dowloading mode. But Odin always says "Fail" when I update rom. I've tried so many many times with different kind of Rom but its unuseful. Now my table is still dying.
Anybody knows how to solve this pro? hu hu hu:crying::crying::crying:
What file are you using at what point does Odin fail what Note model all useful information .

My tablet is Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000. Odin said "Get PIT for mapping." then "Removed" then "Complete operation failed"
(I didnt unconnect the tablet). I tried with Rom "Samsung-Updates.com-GT-N8000-ITV-N8000XXCLL3-1355298096" and other Roms but same problem. Odin is Odin3 v3.04 (ever tried with odin3 v1.85 but also failed)
I flashed recovery-cwm-touch-6.0.1.9-n8000 also failed
What should I do now?
Service centre or research PIT files .

Kill kies, better yet, uninstall it... Try again...
Also make sure the rom you are trying to install isn't corrupt. I find using ODIN 3.04/7 best as it does a n MD5 check before it flashes the rom...
It was solved. My tablet is alive. Tks everybody
My galaxy gear is showing the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again" screen. Is there anyway to recover from this? Neither Kies 3 nor Kies 2.6 is recognizing my device
.
Same here Odin doesn't do anything either. Has anyone else fixed this? Thanks!
About which Gear are you talking:
Gear 1, Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo ?
Gear 1 . . . just downloaded an older firmware 4.2.2 and it installed using Odin 3 v185 so all good now
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app

This didn't work for me. I used Odin3.07 and 4.2.2 stock ROM to flash first - I used PHONE option because the others didn't work (no progress in the message window). This 'faulty' flash came up with a 'UI stopped working error' when the Gear rebooted but I was able to get it into download mode now. I then used Odin 3.09 and the flashed the 4.2.2 as a PIT which worked fine!
Got there after reading through a lot of XDA threads and trying many things. But in the end, the answers were here. Thanks.
PS how I got into the mess (the firmware error message with the yellow triangle)? I was on null 23 and wanted to go back to stock rom so that I could sell the Gear. Couldn't get into download mode for Odin 3.09; I can't exactly remember what I did but I disconnected the gear midway through a seemingly failed flash and it got me to the error. Googling says use Kies but nope, it wouldn't recognise the gear even for the 'emergency firmware'. I tried a lot of things, and wasted a lot of time!

Worked perfectly, THANK YOU! After a few failed attempts at flashing my Gear I thought it was doomed, luckily after flashing the stock ROM back to it as you described I was successful at flashing the Tizen ROM. Thanks for your help!!

You're welcome. Glad to be of help.
I'm also having this issue.
can you share how to get odin recognise the gear, because now it's only showing yellow triangle with error text, and i cannot perform the step to go to download or recovery mode.
when i do long press on the gear it's only go black screen for awhile then back to error with yellow triangle.
thank you for the reply.
Update:
Already found solution, i just flash Null TWRP form odin and my gear return back to android, after that go to download mode, then flash to tizen.

I just ticked the PIT box and browsed to the ROM file. Using the older Odin, that got me past the error message.
I think there are so many variables, we've probably tried many different combination of things. I'm just describing what worked for me, I can't promise it'll work for anybody else. Just wanted to put it out there so that it may help someone.
This worked for me
youtube{dot}com{slash}watch?v=fS4878klPAQ[ ( i cant post links yet so you will have to fix up the url or youtube search "How to UnBrick Galaxy Gear"
You must down load his rom to start of with after that you should be right to upgrade with Kies to tizen then to tizenmod if wanted or just load Null or what ever but this should unbrick the little [email protected]#$%^&*. Wish you luck

That doesn't make any sense. Odin 3.09 asks for either a .pit file or an .xml file if you choose PIT.
How do you perform the null flash twrp? Could you give step by step guide. I got Odin 3 v18 too. firmware ready.
i think i have emmc brickbug; My GT-N8000 is on UDNE4 firmware (stock German kitkat).
One night it shut down, and i can no longer access the system nor recovery. when i try to access the system, it restarts randomly during the Samsung logo (after the Samsung Note 10.1 page), and when i try to access recovery, it shows a black screen for 2 or 3 seconds, then reboots.
I can access download mode, but whenever i try using odin for flashing kernels, flashing bootloaders, flashing roms(one file or multi-part), removing batteries, flashing the latest kitkat rom (UDNE4, UDNE5, UDNE6),flashing recovery, modding roms(removing sboot.bin and tz.img), but i get "NAND Write fail error". when i try flashing the pit at http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2268735 , i get "repartition operation failed". I tried the following odin versions : 1.83, 1.85, 3.04, 3.07, 3.09.
I tried different pcs, different cables, different ports (of all 3 gernerations(usb 1.0, usb 2.0, usb 3.0)). I tried reinstalling samsung drivers and uninstalling kies. I tried using heimdall, but i get "libuser error = -7". I honestly don't know what this error mean, so i would like someone to explain it for me.
I read at ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...icked-t1619571 ) that repartitioning might help, and therefore i need the appropriate pit. I am also considering NAND erase all, but please do let me know whether i can rely on this option. The pit i need is for the 16GB version of GT-N8000. And if repartitioning is not the solution, what should be done?
P.S: Whenever i flash a bootloader, the download mode shows invalid magic string.
P.P.S: I don't want to hand it to samsung just yet, because my warranty is over.
P.P.P.S: in download mode, i can see my model number, although my SYSTEM STATUS is shown as CUSTOM, even though i have a stock system (but i don't think that this is quite unusual, since it is rooted)
P.P.P.P.S: i have philz touch cwm recovery
Sorry for the very long post
Any help would be really appreciated
Thanks in advance
How could my device be saved? I am willing to risk everything to get it to work again, but i am not considering replacing the motherboard.
The device is now a paper-weight that can only access download mode, but can not use it.
P.S: I tried using nand erase all, but i received Complete(Write) operation failed.
I have the exact same problem. Hope some one can come up with solution. Tried all options above. Very depressing.......
Rescue package
I have seen Rescue packages for phones like S3 which helped recover some bricked devices; What are they? And is there such thing for my device?Would a Rescue package do any good in this state?
Is there other programs to try other than odin or heimdall?
Hi XDA,
I really need help. Today I tried to root my new S6 (SM-G920W8, Rogers as provider) using a video (which I apparently can't link, but is titled "How to Root the Galaxy S6 (Safe & NO Loss of Data)" by C4Etech), which ironically turned out to be not that safe. I followed the instructions precisely, but despite seeing a 'PASS!', it got stuck in a bootloop. Thankfully, I can still access TWRP recovery mode, as well as the blue download mode.
I have the latest version of TWRP (2.8.7.1) loaded on my phone, but when trying to restore it I stupidly deleted the OS. Now, this would be fine, as I should be able to flash the stock 5.0.2 ROM, right? Wrong.
I am using Odin 3.0.4 as well as also trying 3.10.7, but when trying to load the ROM via AP method, I get "Write NAND start", followed by "FAIL!" I also once tried checking off the Re-Partition box, which then left me with "the specified file could not be read".
Digging around on the forums, I wasn't sure if perhaps it was because I was trying to install 5.0.2 onto a 5.1.1 device, but I couldn't find a 5.1.1 version of a Rogers SM-G920W8 stock firmware. School is tomorrow and I definitely can't let my parents find out that I messed up my phone – please XDAdevs, I'm begging you – help a newbie flasher out!
Have you formatted all partitions using TWRP?
I'd suggest format Data, System and Cache and try Odin again.
If it still fails then use a different USB port, a different cable or even a different computer.

No luck with switching cables or ports, gonna try a different computer but not sure it'll work. Still getting the NAND write error. Being a newbie to this, what things can cause a "NAND write start fail" error?
EDIT: it appears my reactivation lock is off. As my phone has no OS and is stuck in infinite boot loop, I can't register a Samsung count to disable it. Any advice?
Just tried on another computer. Was able to flash a version of Chainfire Autoroot with no NAND issue, but the issue persists for the stock S6 ROM.
Advice would be much appreciated.

No; I've never seen this message. However, when I try to boot normally on the S6 logo screen I get a red "Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing".
...Unfortunately, I have no idea what this entails.
SOLVED!
To anyone reading this who screwed up their Samsung device, use Kies 3 and try to upgrade firmware with your phone plugged in in download mode.
What this does is simply reinstall the native OS, using Samsung's own tool. No NAND errors, no need for Odin! Everything is vanilla and fixed. Thanks for your helps!

I rooted my phone a a few days ago and now I'm trying to get back the official firmware which should be possible.
I flashed TWRP, SuperSU and "no-verity something".
Yesterday I tried to unroot my phone and I saw in a tutorial I only have to press the fully unroot button in SuperSU and it should work.
Well it did, but I still couldn't open Snapchat I thought it was TWRP. I saw that I need root access to uninstall TWRP. I tried to flash SuperSU once again and then my phone just gave up.
It didn't break or something, but when I boot my phone normally it I get an error message, I have a german phone... I can't translate it perfectly, but it says some "integrity check" has failed and I have to factory reset my phone. That's where the problems started.
When I press the "reset" button, it tries to factory reset my phone, but I think it can't read internal memory. When I connect it to my PC it only shows my SD card.
When I go to wipe on TWRP it shows "internal memory 0MB" and I think it has some difficulties reading the internal memory.
My question is, is there a possibility to get the J710FN firmware and all the things back, like the original recovery and all the things.
I tried to flash the original global firmware via ODIN3 v3.12.3 but it fails. My phone says "SW REV CHECK FAIL Device: 4 Binary: 3"
I just want to get back the original firmware without any rooted things so my phone works again.
Oh and I tried to factory reset it in case somebody thinks that's the problem.
Factory resetting doesn't work, because I THINK my phone can't read the internal memory.
I really hope someone can help me.
You can ask me any kind questions for information you need to gather to help me.
Thank you in advance!
I think sw rev check fail (software reverse)mean's that you are trying to flash an out dated firmware (in comparison to the firmware that your phone has on it now)Your phone will block you trying to downgrade your firmware.
Before you do anything you could try the emergency software update and Initialisation in smart switch,I think you need is your phone's serial number(if you still have the box i will be on there)
If all else fail's you could try downloading the most up to date software from sammobile and flash it with the most up to date version of odin you can find
