[Q] No Task Manager?

Maybe i'm blind but can't find any type of HTC task manager on this device? Had it on stock ATT HTC One X+ device. I'm new to Verizon, switched specifically for this device and better deal with service so this is all new to me here.
Just seems odd zero task manager installed at all. Never had to use a third party, any recommendations? Thanks
I see in Settings, App manager, you can scroll right to Running apps and manually tap and stop. Anyway to have these apps NOT become active after a reboot? I'm spoiled and use to root and greenify and what not. Never use apps like Verizon Cloud, Verizon messages, NFL, etc.

Facebook app uses 48mb just for push services? Already have half the ram used up and only using mandatory apps running except Facebook, Messenger, GSam Battery Monitor, AppLock, Dropbox (all except Facebook and Messenger only use maybe 5-10mb each).

Closest I can find is by pressing the recent apps button and clicking the four square icon in the top right. That's typically the most we'll get w/o root apps

Yeah that's a shortcut to what I described. So no matter how many times I turn off, force close, etc the Verizon and Amazon apps they seem to still run on their own. Awesome

Go into settings, apps, all, click on some of the bloat ware and click disable. Removes it from the task manager for me. Also do you have this at the bottom of your apps list? I'm referring to the one with the foreign characters.

I just did that. Basically unchecked notifications and disabled all Verizon, Amazon apps. Going to reboot now and see if they still start up on their own and if there any issues disabling all these? New to this stuff.
Yes I noticed that too just now. Not sure what it is for?

Rebooted and they aren't there. Good one less reason for me to want root.

True. I mainly like to hold off as long as I can until I have to root. As much as I like tinkering with Android stuff I always have that time period where I'm not willing to mess with my new$600 phone. After that period I just go flash happy.

Damn well disabling all Verizon bloatware and Amazon crap did something. I have gallery lock lite to hide personal pics/vids from the stock gallery app. I have the pics and vids saved on external sd card from previous device so these are not saved on internal.
Well now they are all visible again in stock gallery app like I never hid them. They also show inside the gallery lock app.

I had vaulty app before which worked great but on this device does not hide stuff. Not sure if it's a kit Kat 4.4.2 thing or what? Seems odd after reboot they are all visible again in gallery app though. Damnit. More reason to root! Can't even have private photos on my sd card, WTH?

ShowBox keep Force Closing - help?

Hi!
I come from Note 3 where i watched movies/series alsmost everyday on ShowBox - however, now that i upgraded to S7 Edge, i cant get it to work on my new phone.
Ive installed the same apk and so on, even tried a new apk - but it keeps FC and wont let me watch anything.
Works sometimes with Wifi, but not on data (4G).
Does anyone have any solution?
Im rooted, got xposed installed and had some adblockers modules installed, but i did unable them just to trie if that works, but it didnt.

Working fine here on my s7 edge, both on data and Wi-Fi.
version 4.61

Install Kodi, get the Ares plug in, install a custom TV build.
You'll be able to use Kodi for your personal media with USB OTG and for the same purposes show box is used. It's more reliable and more secure.

I think its all the mods that wont let the app to run freely.

Installed the Kodi app..please help with the next steps to get the same settings as yours ..

You have to find the ares installer wizard, should be able to Google it. YouTube has some tutorials with old repos. But Google Ares Wizard and then once that's installed the rest is easy. I'm not endorsing any of this, just that it's possible. I usually have on my phone just for the ability to learn about the builds. But it does work.

Showbox.... Help for piracy is not allowed in here.
Second, Ensure you clear you apps Cache and settings.
go to battery and ensure Showbox is not being Optimised in any way.
(Optimising on Showbox resulted in a few FC for me)

Ive done all that, but still no success. I went to battery, and it was automatically optimized - so i inactivated it. Cleared the cache, but still getting FC.
Theres a new update right now, but it wont install it.
If it doesnt FC then it wont install the update.
Sometimes, i can use the current version, when skipping the update. but its not an smooth overall experience.
Any clues?

Reporting this post due to Piracy ffs!!!
Try uninstalling your previous version before trying to install a new version / update
If the signature keys are different Update will not happen!
Go and look for the developer and get the support from them.
Dont pollute the lovely XDA with Piracy, its had enough attention of the years!

stock browser... give it a try...

don't know if this has been mentioned before (if so my apologies) but just wanted to share this
I've been a bit frustrated with the browsing speed of my S7, I've always used chrome (mainly for integration with lastpass and just because... well, it's chrome right?) but was never impressed with the speed.
Tried a bunch of other browsers (dolphin, maxthon, UC, firefox, ...) you name it.... same feeling...
A friend of mine has an iphone 7, comparison of browser speed was... humbling... Even to the point of considering switching to an iphone!
Started googling about this and somewhere someone on some site mentioned in the comments section of an article about how great iphone's are compared to android that the samsung stock browser (version 4+) in combination with an adblock is "all you need".
To be honest, until that moment I had never even used the stock browser... It's stock so it can't be good right?
Started using the stock browser in combination with "adblock fast" and never looked back... this browser is amazing, did the same tests again with my friends iphone 7 and where before the S7 was slower every time, now it was fastest in about 80% of the cases!
No lastpass integration but the fingerprint login built into the browser works on most of the sites I've encountered so far. Not perfect but the speed makes up for everything.
So here it is, I don't want to start a browser-discussion (everybody has his/her own preference) but for the people who never used the stock browser you might want to give it a try and see how it works out for you...

It also beats Google Chrome in one of the best benchmark tests - Vellamo Mobile Benchmark, and provides a much better feeling of use than Chrome and any other browser. Scrolling is so much better.

Stock browser with Disconnect Pro is working pretty well. I'm using ir since S6 and I'm happy.

I would like to use stock browser but I need bookmark sync with chrome and this is not supported

Bookmarks sync via Samsung account works. Install samsung sync addon for Chrome on PC and after starting sync your stock Android browser will sync bookmarks tab. Of course, you have to login Samsung account on the phone before you do all this.
Btw, stock browser is good but needs text formatting .

Which version of the samsung browser are you guys on? Im still seeing 4.0.10-53 on google play, i have the 930w8 if it matters and nothing on samsung's galaxy app store. I had to download version 5+ from apkmirror

I'm using 5.0.30-40 with adblock for samsung internet browser and its fast!

The 5.0 version is installed on Android N...

What's new in v5.0?

According to ApkMirror descriptions, 5.0.30-13 is for Android 4.4+, 4.0.30-43 is for Android 5.0+. I think it is a bit confusing. Both have the same variant date, which is even more confusing.

Do you have an "exit" option on the stock browser ? Screen print from my S4 attached - I don't have it on my S7 G930W8 ?

Hi, you can select but only option is to share not delete. Delete is possible but for added bookmarks. Original bookmarks is not possible to delete.

So, apparently the S* has no camera surround shot mode (or am I dense)?

I loved the camera surround shot mode on my note phones, but can't seem to find it or where to DL it for the S8+. If I recall correctly it had to be downloaded with the note phones.
Am I missing something, or doesn't it exist yet? It was cool shooting surround shots and then viewing them with the Gear VR.

Download it. There's a way to add extra features inside the camera app.

Its probably because you did a restore. I just checked and there is no surround pro option to download

Rear-cam selfie
Beauty face
Sports shot
Dual camera
and a ton of other Samsung and 3rd party apps and plug-ins.

Like you I also had it installed on my previous phone, a Note 5. But like I said, the option to down load it is not presented for my S8+ for some reason. Even searching for "Surround Shot" didn't work.
However, thanks to your clue I was able to open the "Galaxy Apps" app and then at the top of that app next to the search bar there are three little dots. I tapped the dots, selected "My Apps", "All", and then I was able to see all of the Samsung Apps which I have ever DL'd onto any of my previous Samsung phones. All I had to do was download "Surround Shot". Nice!

I had it on my S6E and when I wanted to install it on my Note 7 I couldn't find it in Galaxy Apps or anywhere. I did a search yesterday to install it on my S8+ since I have a Gear VR and it still wasn't there.
Doing the above gave me back Surround Shots.

It shows up for me as "Virtual shot". I didn't have to download anything extra.

If like that just make a backup before you clear the data, so you can restore it back easily whenever you want to use the apps again

Really.....when this happen. I know when the S9 + was release, we couldnt activate. It wasnt working but PD from police was working so i used that instead until the developer updated his BK app and then it was working fine. I get weekly app updates from BK and still working. Im afraid now to do a factory reset if i have to lol. This app is a life saver.

hi, i formatted my S9+ just when BK Manager and MDM Extension apks were removed from Play Store.
my question is, i have both of these apks files in my storage, will i be able to install them manually and whether the disabler app will still work as it was before? can someone kindly advise?
i have emailed the developer a couple of times asking the same questions, but not getting any response or help and was never my intent to ask for a refund.

It's dead as the mdm manager & extension r removed possibly as per Samsung's request.
Im tired of Samsung's forced bloats and the consequences.

SABS still works great. Just Google notsabs and you will find the instructions on how to install it.

Adhell used to tell you which were safe to remove and which were critical system ones it doesn't look like sab's does this is there a way that I'm not seeing to know what is safe to disable

After using this apk on galaxy s9, disabled many system apks with some S8 script, my fingerprint start to have issues and finally stop working at all. Probably should flash stock firmware because factory reset do not solve fp issues. Think i disabled some system apk which is in colaboration with fp sensor and now its use is broken. Leaved it in samsung service because of warranty, device is 2 weeks in use just. Perhaps i should know flash same stock firmware with odin again but dont want to mess until i am sure it is not hardware fail.
In service menu sensor give me error.
Be careful what to disable on newer devices..

Adhell 3 works just fine for me try it out if you liked the old adhell

is this current from play store? cuz reviews say no longer work?
also bk disabler says you have to do this... anyone try it?

No not a play store thing I don't think I can link it here you will have to google it also it requires a Samsung Knox enterprise key which are free there are many websites on how to do all this search adhell3 in google and there should be some guides that's how i got it

Do you know how it compares to SABS, I'm guessing adhell3 is easier to use?

I could never get SABS to work so I have nothing to compare it to but it's pretty simple not idiot proof or anything but easy enough I never used anything besides adaway and package disabler before and figured this out in a few mins its has the best of both in one app

I got Adhell3 installed using instructions on Reddit. It was time consuming because I hit a few snafus in Android studio. I havent disabled anything yet though, lol.
