Has anyone had luck setting up an exchange account in gmail and google calendar after installing exchange services APK? Adding the account through the Settings app I was able to get it to successfully sync my email but both calendar and contact sync are erroring. Thanks!

Had the same issue. Here's the fix: Go to the application manager, find exchange services, select the option for Permissions, and give it perms for your contacts and calendar.

Beautiful! That did it, thanks! I've normally just been prompted for each permission needed, odd that even re-adding the account didn't trigger it. Anyways, certainly good info to know for the future Thanks again!
Thank you SO MUCH! I've been trying to figure this out for weeks. It worked previously on my Galaxy S5 with no additional permissions required. I guess the security is a bit more stringent/granular for the Galaxy S7.
On a similar topic, I just lost exchange services today. Unable to sync calendar or contacts...the exchange calendar doesn't even show up in the calendar app any longer. Anyone experienced this? I'm a bit lost without my work calendar.
Tried everything under the sun...removing account, reinstalling exchange services, resetting permissions. I even factory reset my phone hoping to fix it. Nothing. Anyone else?

I decided to roll back to an older version of Exchange Services (Version: 6.5-1520254) and everything is back to normal.

Hi there,
I have been searching for a definitive answer but haven't had a luck so far. Hoping someone from here could give me an answer.
Below are few things I have noticed which happen on my phone:
1) Emails powered by Google Apps services for my domain don't work on Stock Email App on GS2 - keeps loading but nothing loads. Is there a fix for this? Is this a known issue?
2) Generic email accounts such as hotmail or gmail, when setup using stock Email app and exchange method use alot of battery and data although there is only exchange of few emails without attachment. Is there a fix for this? Is this a known issue?
3) I also sync my google calendar via exchange app, could that be causing battery drain?
I read somewhere on google, where they are saying people shouldn't use Google Sync Method (exchange method) for gmail or gmail powered email accounts as google does no longer supports gmail on Google Sync, you have to use the Gmail App. I don't know how much of this is true but this all was working fine on my Gingerbread 2.3.4
Please let me know thanks.
Vin
I am trying to set up Google Contacts. I imported contacts from Outlook fine. Then I synced them to my phone (Samsung Light) -- all fine.
BUT, when I went to my Note 10.1 to sync them I found that in my Google Account there is no option for Google Contacts, only something called People. It does sync GMail fine. Sync is on.
I've tried many things -- deleting the Google account and re-establishing it, clearing the contacts cache, etc. But with no optionon the Google account page for contacts, I can't even try to sync them.
Anybody ever come across this before?
Thanks.

you should have a separate app called Contacs. And in settings under account you can sync. Just use the contac app
Shaun:
Yes, I have been using the native Contacts app and syncing it with Outlook via Kies. I want to try using Google Contacts instead. I deleted all the contacts within the app and cleared all contact data/cache.
The problem is that when I go to Settings>Accounts>Google and then click on my account, there is NO option to Sync Contacts. There are options for App Data, Calendar, Gmail, Internet, People details, and Picasa Web albums -- and that's it.
Thanks

When you click on your account is it your gmail account..
Yep -- but finally fixed it. I just finished doing a hard reset of the Note, which I hated to do because it will take me hours to get it back the way I want. However, as soon as I did that the Google account started showing all the options, including Contacts.
Thanks.

Hi all.
I've had just about every Galaxy flagship phone in the Samsung series and am certainly not a stranger on setting up accounts.
I have 2 hotmail.com email accounts, a business and personal. I tried setting up my personal entering details correctly and I get "authentication failed" ... Hmm, that's strange. I jump on a PC and CONFIRM the password I used was indeed correct. I tried setting up the account manually (POP3) which wasn't a problem, however the device has absolutely no interest trying to connect to my account and sync. It keeps telling me the OP3 server is not responding. Sorry Samsung, but I call bull****. It's like this any day of any week, too...
I have tried changing my password on the PC to something else. I then re-attempted the email set-up and received the same error...authentication failed. Now, google, gmail, yahoo, aol accounts (etc) ALL work fine. With absolutely NO explanation WHY this won't work and zero help from the internet or anyone else experiencing the same problem, I decide to try the OTHER hotmail account...enter the details and BOOM. It worked. So why in the blue f**king hell does ONE work and NOT the other?! Props to Samsung, they've really f*cked something up here - coz this has never been a problem on any phone I've used in the past.
Anyone have any ideas?
The device is running stock ROM and is rooted (problem also existed before root)

i gave up adding all my email accounts , on the phones last yr now I just use my gmail and for my other 2 email aco****s I forward them to gmail then when sending emails in gmail I can select which account I want to send from.
I had no problem adding a hotmail account. Are you trying to add them in Android's "Accounts" section, or to the Outlook app?

Like anyone does it - adding through the default email app on the phone...or settings - accounts - email - add new
Download the Exchange Services apk and install it. Reboot and then add the Hotmail account as an Exchange account in Gmail.
Do you kneed also the E-Mail APK from Google? If i install only the Exchange APK, i didnt see a additional Exchange Account in the Accounts Section of the Settings, if i try to add a new Account. Only the one which come preinstalled.

Obviously not like anyone does it, based on my question.
Have you tried getting the Outlook app and adding your accounts directly to the app rather than using the default email app and Android's account settings?

I didn't want to use additional apps, all emails in the one place only...otherwise defeats the purpose of having an all-in-one email add on a smartphone if you cannot add Hotmail, yahoo, aol (etc) in there together.

I downloaded and installedExchange APK (boomerang)? Installed, rebooted, added the account via 'accounts' under settings as an exchange email and it worked! Didn't need anything else. See below.

Hah! You champion! This actually worked. Unbelievable. I can't and even won't rack my brain trying to understand the retardation around this and the "work around" users must perform to setup a particular Hotmail/Live account. Thank you so much!

solution found for email setup (Hotmail)
I had problems setting up my Hotmail on the S6. The password it wanted was not my usual Hotmail login but an "app" password. I changed my Outlook/Hotmail password on a PC and then it sent me an email alerting me that I needed to update my "app" passwords with "fhrkdjfruofjrdlfl" (example) and then it easily connected Hotmail to my S6 using the standard email setup menus. Hope that helps somebody.

I have had this problem for the last 2 nights and on this forum, I read about signing up with outlook or samsung. I have been trying Samsung, so I downloaded the outlook app and I then had NO PROBLEM with it! I hope this helps you.
Well, I can save contacts to my phone itself, but if I try to save to my Outlook (prefered) or Google accounts, they dont save. After hitting save, it just goes back to the number as if the phone doesnt know who they are, and the contact is not in my contact list.
Tried removing and readding my Outlook account - same behaviour.
This is pretty damn bad for me - I need to be able to add clients to my phone then be able to access them from my Outlook account elsewhere. Can anyone help? It seems to be an issue other people have had over the years under different configurations from googling about, but I never see a solution.
Can anyone help?

Anyone have a solution for this? I have the same problem on my s7. I have a custom rom on it and did NOT install the stock email app. I'm running a Microsoft outlook exchange account on this gmail app (it was setup through it). My contacts, calender, and email sync fine but I can not edit my exchange contacts on my phone. Also I can not save new contacts to my exchange account from my phone. This is a big problem.
I've noticed a considerable battery drain on both MHA-L29C432B126 and MHA-L29C636B136 from having a google account sync the calendar. It just syncs again and again. Anyone else noticed this? Wakes the phone up a lot and seems to have a huge effect on the phone getting some much needed sleep.
I've turned off calendar syncing for all my accounts and switched to outlook to sidestep this, but I'm curious if anyone has experienced it and/or seen a solution.
I use Google calendar sync for multiple calendars. No problem. Maybe a failing sync causes the problem? L29 B126
I had the same problem with google calender when i unistalled it. Google calender sync was on all the time. When i reinstall google calender it stopt syncing.
No problems here. L29 B126
Just so everyone knows it was able to be solved with a factory reset from settings menu.

Both solutions work :silly: if you installed Google Calendar and deinstalled, install it again.. If you don't won't to install it again try deleting and adding again Google account and if it doesn't help do a factory reset, and don't install Google Calendar
I have the exact same issue. I can't say for sure if it coincides with the installation of Google Calender or with starting using the Huawei Calender App. I did both at the same time (I was thinking about using aCalender+ which needs Google Calender to be installed to work properly, or to use the Huawei one)
Now any Google account which has calender sync enabled has said issue.
I have uploaded a video to youtube. Search for "Huawei Mate 9 Calender syncing issue"
