Hi guys,
I use the Z5 for a lot of photos and some of the edits I do it on the camera itself because the app is powerful enough - I use the Built-In Photo editor instead of the Google Photos.
I am facing two issues and I was wondering if there is any solution under Android 5.0 or if the newly released update could solve any of the issues below:
- Edited photos as saved under Local Storage as opposed to SD Card, where original photos are saved. Not so bad but I need to move them periodically back to SD Card. Not sure why this happens because I am using all native photo apps (Sony Camera + Album + Photo Editor)
- Big Issue: edited photos completely lose EXIF info, like time taken and camera info. Big time problem for photographers. What is going on here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
PS. The phone runs extremely well and stable, so I was NOT planning to update to 6.0 for the fun of it, but I need a solution for the issues below.
Any one else facing this issue with the EXIF file?
This morning I updated to Android 6.0 via Sony PC Companion 2.1 and tried editing a photo and same issue with saved file losing EXIF data. This is a bit ironic coming from a phone marketed as a Camera phone.
Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I DL'd the Camera v2.7 installer from one of the threads here. I love how this app handles indoor pictures, even if the display still doesn't look as if it's doing anything.
I would like to change the Camera shortcut in the Programs directory and Start Menu to point to this new application instead (It is also stored in \Windows). Aside from installing Resco File Explorer, is there any other way to do this?
Also: Just in case, where are the registry settings for this camera app? Does it use the same ones the old camera app uses?
Try Total Commander maybe it can do it for you. Or copy the shortcuts to your PC & change them there, don't forget to copy them back
Not sure whether the same reg.keys/values are used.

Thanks.
Total Commander works. I'll keep it around. ^_^
Copying the shortcut to WinDOS doesn't work (XP Professional); the path is greyed out when the link is on the phone, and if you take it out to your desktop, Windows won't recognize it as a valid link.
PS: The new camera performs better if there's a source of light _in front of_ it. Without one it's as bad as the old. Taking a pic of my PC monitor works wonders, but attempting to take a pic of the corridor with the monitor behind me produces grainy results (evening time 6pm).
Can't complain, tho. At least the pic of my monitor isn't grainy anymore. Next camera version should be perfect, I hope. <_<
I got the same 2.7 version with my 1.13WWE rom & it's performing nice in good light conditions. Other conditions are not to discuss :-(. I'm trying to get the 3.0 version working, but the fellow with this version isn't capable of dumoing the cab, not to speak of finding all related reg.keys. Too bad.
Btw I moved the camera & album apps to my internal storage & changed links, reg etc. Works OK & saves a lot of RAM.

[Edit]
Forgot to mention that updating the values (brightness, contrast etc) in HKLM\HTC\Camera\AppDefSettings\General
Will change the default camera settings, so you don't have to change them after switching from 'night' to 'daylight' etc.
Sorry if this should go in the SlimKat forum, but I figured it is a 4.4 issue, possibly not specific to SlimKat.
I was messing with my camera settings the other day taking some photos, and I came across the option to change from .jpeg to .raw. I changed to .raw hoping to review later and see if I could improve the photos. I took several photos in .raw format, but now I cannot view them. At first they appeared as just gray boxes in the photo gallery (which was my first clue), and then I thought i would just transfer them to my computer and i would view/process them there.
However, I am completely unable to view these photos. I have installed RawDroid on my phone, but it will not view the files (actual or thumbnail). I have also tried several different programs on my Windows 7 PC (File Explorer, Corel Paintshop 6, Paint Shop Pro, and even Irfanview) - none of them will display the photos. I know there is data there - each file is about 10.2MB in size; I just can't get them to display no matter what I try. I am extremely disappointed because there are at least 4 of the files that I would really like to keep.
Any ideas on how I can get the photos to display? I have searched Google and the forums here to no avail. I cannot seem to find anyone or an article on this particular issue.
And, as I said, my apologies if this should go in the SlimKat forum - Mods, please move if necessary.

This questions may apply to all Android devices now, not just Sony: When I take a picture on a Z3, what file name will the phone give it? Is it possible to change the format? I returned my Z3 due to dissatisfaction with the camera so that's why I'm asking you guys.
When I moved photos from my Z3 to my computer, they appeared in the format "DSC_nnnn.jpg" For example, DSC_0024.jpg, which I presume was the 24th photo I took with the phone. Suppose I saved this photo onto my computer and deleted it from my phone. Will the next photo I take end in 0024 or 0025? Because if I try to move this new image into my computer, it may overwrite the previous image if the number is updated.
The reason why I'm asking this question is that on my first smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Infuse, the photos were time stamped like a traditional camera so I didn't have to worry about overwriting images.
Thanks
Hello,
since Android 6 on my SGS7 i have a strange problem: Dropbox uploades some ot the images/videos again und again.
I installed a md5sum-app and something on the smartphone makes changes to the images from time to time. Sometimes there are changes on metadata, sometimes the content of the file changes too.
Then i have 2 picture on my computer in the dropbox camera-upload-older. For example: "xxx.jpg" and "xxx-1.jpg" up to "xxx-7.jpg" for older images.
This happens after viewing pictures or after turning the phone on (its turned off (shutdown) while i am working), also when i didnt view photos on the phone.
i use google photo viewer and samsung stock gallery app.
A reset and complete new start with the phone didnt help. I didnt notice this on SGS4 to SGS6.
Has someone an idea, how i can prevent changes on my images on the phone?
Best regards, A.
Hi Friends,
I went on an expedition recently and took a lot of photos & videos from my Google Pixel Build Number 7.1.1
I received (OTA) a security patch update of 97.4 MB on my return.
It seems after the update the photos from 8th Feb till 9th Feb got lost (videos are there).
I've spent 3 hours with google support without luck. It seems to me they are just hidden somwhere and not deleted as the BIN/TRASH is clean too.
Appreciate all you support as the photos are precious memories.
Cheers.
Have you have already checked online for copies? I think it asks which settings to use on setup, and the default may be to backup photos to the cloud and make space by removing items. I have the removal shut off on my phone, yet I left photo backup on, and it tends to ask if the photos haven't been backed up online. Your post doesn't say anything about shutting off the typical online photo backup, so that's where I would start.
If you don't have an online backup and the photos have been deleted, then I would figure some sort of data recovery would be another option. I've never used it, but DiskDigger Photo Recovery is one app that shows up in searches and doesn't seem to require root. Any sort of writing files to the phone, like installing an app, can potentially overwrite deleted files. Since support should know about the typical online backup of photos, I figure using some sort of data recovery software would be the next thing to try if you don't have a backup.
Yup noticed some videos missing
