Hello,
I'm new to modifying my phone. Here are my specs.
-----
Samsung Galaxy S III
Verizon 4G LTE
Model: SCH-I535
Android 4.1.2
BaseBand Ver: I535VRBMF1
-----
I want to use some other provider besides Verizon.
Thus: Its my understanding, that I need to “unlock” the phone.
I don't know if that process will require “other processe(s)” e.g “Rooting”
etc.
Questions:
Can I unlock the model "SCH-I535 Verizon 4G LTE" phone ?
If so, What and where is the process instructions ?
Thank you very much for your help,
-areal

You can but if you expect the phone to work the same way you will be disappointed.

Will have Internet but it will be 2G that is about as fast as the old dial-up. S3 is already a Global Phone. Should just require sim and ability to change APN. Hardest part is getting APN to stick. If want to root and unlock bootloader use Casual found here.

Get 3G outside the US. HSPA bands blocked in US. EVDO only unless it has changed.

prdog1 is correct, you can only get 2g due to different hardware. Verizon S3 radio using CDMA and others are using GSM/HSPA+ (different frequencies).

... I'm in desperate need of my phone...
Thats one of the bugs with it people are trying to fix it with code from lollipop zv8 stock
I have recently bought a used LG G3 D850 AT&T model. The problem is that I'm only getting GPRS or 2g network instead of 3G. I have changed the "Preferred Network mode" to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto mode but still to no avail. The phone is unrooted atm. I'd be grateful if anybody can help me!
I also have att d850.3g works great.make sure you are in 3g coverage. Because 3g in Pakistan is awful.and if c you are in 3g converge ,walk around your area to check again while using 2g.it will automatically switch to 3g.
Btw which Network are you using?
I have lg g3 850 at&t and I am having the same problem 3g and 4g not working i tried on warid zong and ufone sim but didt work out
andriod 5.0 is running on my phone. Is it possible to upgrade it to adnroid 6.0 marsmallow

Currently there are sprint g3's converted to atnt are sold in the market

You can't upgrade it to stock marshmallow.as firmware OTA requires AT&T sim card to upgrade.
You can have coustom marshmallow.first root your phone and then flash any Rom for d850.

If someone brings AT&T sim for you.It would not solve your problem. As there is no service of AT&T in Pakistan. You can use Custom Rom like Fulmics till someone releases flashable Stock Marshmallow.
And yes,3g and 4g works on marshmallow.
My 3g is working on at&t g3 clody rom 2.5. Go to setting/Tethering&Networks/mobilenetworks/acesspointnames. And set up a new apn. Every SIM has it's own apn.

Well a few days back i got a used LG G3 AT&T showing software version D85010n in settings . It was already rooted (checked from root checker) with Kitkat 4.4.2. But when i rebooted it yesterday in recovery mode, it showed LS990ZV6 under Android System Recovery.
That means i got a converted G3....... Is there a way to install any custom rom in it? If so, which rom should i choose, D850 or Ls990? or should i avoid installing any custom rom in it?
I installed CM 13 rom in my LG G3 850 (020F) (from stock lollipop to Fulmics 6.1 and then to CM due to no data connection in Fulmics).. all is fine but the data connection only keeps to 'E', it never goes to H or 3G. .. the settings are right (APN set right for service provider, preferred network set to 3G) .. what could be the reason ? do i need to change the modem of 3G as wel ?

if u got ls990, cloudyg3 is the best rom i tried so far
1) first u need to root ( no need to if its already rooted).
2) then flash twrp via flashify or autorec.
3) download cloudyg3 (u can search for it here on xda)
4) wipe system, cache, dalvik, data partitions.
5) install cloudyg3 (make sure u check ls990 in aroma installer otherwise u will stuck in a bootloop)
thats it, all your problems will be solved, data will be working fine with H+
signals are good as i have tested on many ls990s.
i m using CM13.1 (android 6.0.1) on my LG 850 .. So far its doing good ... it shows E logo when data is enabled but the internet speed is good and reasonable ... so, i consider this E as 3G here in Pak.
The performance of this ROM is good / speedy and battery is reasonably well.
I hav lg g3 850 and my cell fon not shifting on 2g network if 3g network not availing and remains offlin to network iam using jazz and updated to 6.0
Any one tel me slution

How did you convert your D850 to 3G because I don't have option to change preferred network it's working only 2G please help. Its AT&T phone and I'm using zong.
I'm currently on 5.0.1 unrooted in Lahore and I don't have that network mode option in the setting so I'm stuck with 2G. Can anyone help please?

It automatically converts to 3g where 3g coverage is available. Btw you should try fulmics ROM. It's the best out there.

You can only ota update that model with An AT&T sim or AT&T prepaid or like sim. Also are you sure that phone supports the 3G bands for your country?
