Hi there,
I discovered recently that my phone cannot connect to any NFC tags/devices. I can switch NFC on/off but for some reason when I try to see a NFC tags nothing happens.
I tried different ROM (MM), kernels and modems, tried to wipe all data to start from new base, nothing happens.
Any idea ??
Hi, I have the same problem after removing battery.... My phone dosen't read NFC tags, cannot pay, etc...
I tried to wipe all data and settings but It didn't solve the problem...
Did u solve it?
I read that the NFC needs to be activated by Internet.... But they don't say how to do that.
Help please...
Thx.

You don't have a metal plate in the back for use with a magnetic car mount do you? I have one in the back of phone case phone which really limits the area you can tap to read a tag. It can still be used but it's a very small region that will pick it up.
I also assume that you have tried multiple NFC tags? They can become damaged and no longer readable. Also you can't place your tag on a metal surface or it won't work either.
All things I assume you know but thought I would mention anyway.

I have been having problem with NFC recently. I have NFC stickers around my room that I put it on my wall that do various things... like change my phone state to vibrate by the exit door knob and change my phone state to sound mode on front of my door knob, etc.
Of course, NFC is enabled.
None of it works anymore. I tried to write new tags, overwrite, format, etc, but it won't read nor write.
Well, it has been awhile since I tried Google Wallet (last I used was on 1/4), but it has been working fine...
So what exactly could be wrong....?
Please help me out!
Works fine for me, i'm using Tag Launcher: https://market.android.com/details?...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5sZ2Nucy5zY2UubmZjIl0.
Can you read the tags with programs like this: https://market.android.com/details?...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ueHAudGFnaW5mb2xpdGUiXQ..
It works fine for me.
If you find your NFC not working, try to downgrade your system to 2.3.6
Google Wallet works though.. so doesn't that mean NFC is working?
It's just that my phone doesn't read/write tags/NFC stickers.
Ditto, tag launcher
I tried tag launcher and several NFC reader/writer app, but none of them works...
Is there anyway to reset NFC? I went to Settings -> App -> Tags, but it has no data/cache stored to clear.
Tried turning on/off NFC via More -> Setting, but same result....
I have been Googling like crazy and I've found several posts on various different boards. There's really no reason to link any of them, most are regarding older HTC phones.
What I've managed to find out, is that on some HTC phones that get this problem (if it's not custom rom or an upgrade issue) the WIFI antenna is loose. It just needs to be opened and re-connected.
ORG POST BELOW:
So, went to bed....turned wifi off because I was low on battery. Woke up, charged the phone. Tried turning on wifi, but all I get is "Error" after a couple of seconds. No wifi icon or anything else in the notifications bar. 3G work fine, can turn this on and off.
What's up doc?
Oh, I have stock rom and havent changed any setting, updated anything or done anything to my phone at all since yesterday.
Bluetooth won't turn on either!
Broken antenna in the case? Bad connector pins?
Anybody?
Did a factory reset, changed SD card, wiped that, did a factory reset. Wifi still won't turn on, no icon in notification bar, get "error" in the "Wireless & networks" menu.
Removed back cover, cleaned contacts, checked for cracks in the cover. Nothing.
The phone is 35 days old.....this is a new record for bricked phone for me.

The store/repair center has, according to the manifest I got, done the following:
- Conductive Fabric.Flash to Chassis.PYD
- Rigid-Flex Board ASSY.Upper board.w/oGPS diversity
antenna.w/o_Regional_ID. PYD
- Adhesive-Double Tape.power-keyFPC.CN-4490.PYD
- Conductive Fabric.Flash to chassis.PYD
Apparently, they changed the whole board. It also appears as the camera is new, because there was a small scratch on the metal casing and that's now gone.

No, they just changed your Main Flex Ribbon Cable, as I just finished repairing mine myself from water damage (power button wasn't working at all and it would randomly turn off either mid call or receiving a call 8/10 times). When I was quoted £110 to fix it at the shop I was like screw this, went on to buy the Main Flex Ribbon Cable (which is essentially the whole upper board of the phone) for £44 off ebay and changed it over myself. This part comes with the camera case which you mention you had a scratch on. When you change the boards over you actually have to unplug the cameras from the old one and plug em into the new one. Everything works fine now except for the wireless, which when I try to turn on, it comes up with error now. I'm just happy that I can use my phone without worrying about missing calls or not being able to turn it on without adb commands while I am out, leaving me essentially stranded....
Link doesn't work.

If you're rooted, boot into recovery, wipe dalvik cache and cache then reboot. This worked for me.
I'm having the same problem on my HTC One S - When you press the wifi button to connect it instantly turns itself off and reads "Error". Does anyone have a clue why it's doing this??

Brand new OnePlus, unlocked and rooted. I am unable to get the Android share/bump to work with LG G3 or Samsung S4.
Have researched around quite a bit.
Have tried File Beam, so it will send a file (bluetooth), but will not receive.
Any known fix for this NFC bump bug? My searches have turned up nada.
Thanks.
Well, SuperBeam works, but still no direct luck with NC Beam, even OnePlus to Oneplus, seems to 'beam' the file, until at then end, says unsuccessful at the end. The NFC beam, though saying NFC, turns on the bluetooth on both OnePlus'es, and at the end of the beam, turns off the bluetooth. Just having the bluetooth on, despite the NFC Beam, does not change the success.
I like the SuperBeam success, but it is a menu selection/more user active process.
Any help to solve the simple NFC 'bump' would be appreciated.
We now have 3 OPO's. I can NFC from any of them to a G3, but not between the OPO's themselves!
Anyone with similar issues or it's working well for you?
Please, does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
I've tried nfc beam from opo to nexus 5 and it works OK. Don't have other devices to test though. Are you on stock ROM ? Did you try a clean wipe and reflash?
Yes, have tried full reset. All 3 phone on 44s. All rooted and all other systems working well.
what is odd is that I can NFC to other non-OPO phones. Just not to another OPO. I can Bluetooth bump share between them, it's just more cumbersome, and WI-fi bump share as well.
I think the NFC bump outta work straight forward. All three phone work great with other, non-OPO phones.
Is there anyway to track down this issue?
So what seems to happen is that with the NFC bump, with no bluetooth, the OPOs, with each other, fail the transfer. If I turn on bluetooth, and then NFC transfer, I am able to transfer.
OPO to other makes of phone, no need for bluetooth.
Is this all making any common sense about how this should/does operate?
Hi guys,
I need help. Once I encrypted my phone. Location service/GPS is not working on my phone.
Before encryption. There is the location icon always comes up when I access something like Google Maps. even tried installing GPS toolbox. Able to see the satellites and all.
But after encryption, the location icon does not come up. But somehow in High Accuracy mode, it does get somewhere of an approximation of my location.(from network and Wifi).(This does not go well when you are navigating around)
Have you guys encountered this. I have even tried flashing the new L09 Rom and it is still the same.
Also searched around the forums (Looks like the old Samsung phones had this issue where after encryption the GPS would not work). But the post is way back in 2011. And they din follow up on the posts on how it was fixed.
I have factory reset my phone a number of times, flash new rom(the one shared on this forum)
Also played with the settings nothing happens. I still cannot get GPS to work after encryption.
Also another thing I notice is that during the encryption a strange error came up and say that Settings have stopped working. I do not know whether there is a coincidence or not and whether it has anything to do with this GPS problems..
Any help is welcomed. as having a phone with no GPS is really driving me up the wall.

Really sorry for late response - but you can fix this problem using attached file - this is apk from China version of Mate7 make you be able to give (or revoke) access to system data storages (including GPS) to applications.
I had the same problem as you - and using this apk i've fixed it successfully.
it doesn't work for me - can anybody sent printsceen of settings of this app?
Thanks
@nchee + @mireczeque
Have you BOTH re-flashed the stock rom by using the official HUAWEI procedure (i.e. three buttons pressed togheter and ROM saved on DLOAD folder)? If so, do you have ALSO applied a WIPE DATA FACTORY RESET plus a WIPE CACHE PARTITION?
I had some problems with APPS crashing when I tried restoring my HAM with B130. I WIPED everithing and THEN re-flashed fresh B130 from DLOAD sdcard procedure, and everithing worked perfectly. I hope this help.

Is anybody having any issues with NFC? I have NFC always on, but most of the times it doesn't work (doesn't read the tag), unless I open the magic tag app: the NFC icon is always there, but it looks like it gets deactivated somehow: I tried enabling the performance mode, but the issue is still there...
Thanks,
GM

Is the app protected in phone manager, battery?
NFC is an hardware feature, it looks like it becomes inactive and the only way to make it work is open an application that uses it, or turn it off and on again, and this behaviour makes it useless..

I am using it quite often and I did not have this issue. I have it always turned on and it never turned off. Which rom do you have? (B1**) because in the last update they have done some changes.
However since I have never seen a H8 with this problem a factory reset might help.

NFC is hardware but requires software like IR. And battery management and memory management sometimes messes with them.
Try backup (Huawei native backup app), factory reset and restore.

I checked and both magic tag and nfc service are set not to be optimized: I can't find magic tag in the list of the protected apps though.....
Have you factory reset it? No one complains about it
Definitely not a problem on mine either. Maybe if you tried a factory reset like mentioned previously, or ensured you're running the latest version of firmware
Some recently installed app could have messed with it. Try a factory reset and check with the apps as you install it.
hello, mine is not working at all. may be a hardware problem? i just got the phone and i couldn't do the tap to transfer with my old phone, and i can't read tags i made with trigger. also the native app won't read them. of course nfc is on
I realized that the NFC doesn't work when you place the honor 8 back to back with another phone. The receiver for the NFC seems to be at the top, so what I tried was pointing the top of the phone towards the back of another phone and it worked.

That's kinda bad, but not as bad as Sony's placement (at the front)
I have never encountered this problem with my H8.Try factory reset,if that does not work then maybe there is a problem with the rom you are currently using.

True!That's odd
It is indeed very odd, I spent hours fuming that I might have purchased a faulty device but I just thought to try it and bingo. Small annoyance when compared to how nice of a phone the H8 is overall.
Since I don't use NFC very much, I don't any issues with placement, but it annoys me a little when using it.
Is there a way to uninstall or turn off The magic tag app?

How? Where is Magic Tag? I can't find it as well... Help!
For me, the NFC problems (which were severe) were fixed with the Nougat update.
