Hello!
Been playing with the camera today. I'm not... Very impressed... Im coming from a iPhone 6. You can shoot in tiff(raw) on the iPhone. Shooting raw at base iso still seems to be heavily processed. When I import the image into snap seed is says it's a raw file. But using es file Explorer says it's a jpeg when looking at the picture in its folder.
As of right now. I'd rate the 8mp raw files from the iPhone superior to the ones of the s7. Far superior.
I've tried lightroom , Snapseed and photo director.
I haven't downloaded camera fv-5 yet. So that's another option I guess.
I just cannot seem to locate the raw files.... Or the camera is not producing raw files.
Regardless... Zooming in 50% is a muddy mess. This is shooting at base iso (50) and 1/90th a second shutter speed in raw.
Tell me what you think...
Yes I am shooting in pro mode with raw checked. It was shot sitting against something with zero movement.
Anyone?
Alright here is the difference between light room and snap seed raw files.
I am now using camera fv-5. Well worth it.
The better one is from light room.

so you sorted out the problem?
Yeah I guess so. I guess the oem camera app isn't shooting in raw or something.
I don't like.how if I want wide-screen pics i.have to resort to 9 megapixels. 12 is 4x3

No it's the physical camera sensor orientation. I'll mention that most other phones are 4:3 like the S7, not 16:9 like previous Samsung phones

So, what's the best camera app, light room or camera fv-5?
Light room for processing. Camera fv-5 for taking raw pictures.
This is all strictly for raw pictures.
I own both the iPhone 6S and the Samsung Galaxy S7, NO comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is the much better camera.

In regards to s7 png files vs iPhone tiff files?
I'm not on here starting a vs thread. Something was just up with the raw files. I was not satisfied with the S7 raw files.
I still can't locate them from the stock app. Light room also never found them. Using Camera fv-5 light room finds the png raw files.
Indeed the raw files are very nice.
I dont really care about jpeg for casual shooting. They are fine. It's a cell phone. But if i go hiking and I forgot my Camera. I wanted to know what the camera on the S7 was capable of. I have now found what resulted in the most detail and sharpness. I was at first disappointed. Especially using the stock app. I am now satisfied with the results.

You know that even after using pro, you have to go into settings of camera and turn on save raw copy. Then it creates two files a jpeg and a dog file which you can the proccess just like fv-5 cam.

Yes. As I said in the end of the OP. I had everything checked. You have to recheck it every time you go into pro mode. It doesnt stick. I have yet to find the raw file from the Samsung Camera. Fv-5 produces 2 files. One raw and one jpeg.

As you can see in the pics below once that option is turned on on my phone it always stays on, and then it makes a double on jpeg and one dng.
Mine does not stay on. Close the app in recents, reopen it and go to pro mode and tell me if it is still checked.. Mines not. So it would be good to know.
Also... Like I said I can't find the png. It's no biggie now. I'll just use fv-5.

What can you set the shutter time to? How long of an exposure? And what can you set the ISO to? I'm thinking about getting this phone for my wife as I already have the G4.

Hi everyone, I'm new and this is my first post!
I bought and tried Manual Camera app in order to obtain dng files from my camera. But I have a big issue: thanks to RawDecoder I can see dng files without problems, but when I try to modify *.dng with Lightroom or Gimp I can't. Any solution? Did anyone try?
Usea Proshot! You can take long exposures even 5 minutes long.
can someone share a dng via gdrive or dropbox from gflex 2 i wanna use the lens correction information on the g3 and g2

As many have heard or experienced, the stock Razer camera sucks. The Google Camera Port is awesome but does anyone know the optimal setting for the Razer phone? Those options are complex and I have no idea about really any of them.

I haven't tried that TBH. I just use the internal storage.
Here you go
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/....20_7.0H_C2API_v.4.0_AllinOne_Full_Manual.apk
That apk based off google camera 4.4 modified by B-S-G .
I had issues with recent 5.x update so do recomend just stick with 4.4
does it make any difference at all between the stock and this google camera?
it's the only thing keeping me from buying this awesome phone , that is the camera of course.

Hey guys, I installed the Pixel camera app and immediately I noticed an improvement. The Razer camera seems to have a lag to it when moving it to different objects to take a photo. The Google app eliminated that. It's very smooth. Also, I noticed using the Google apk the photos don't look as grainy.
I can't wait for Razer to make improvements to the camera. It has potential. I will continue to experiment with this Google apk.

My friend, watch it again. He specifically says it's the Razer phone using the Pixel 2 XL ported camera app.
I think I actually prefer razer cam, the colour have a better depth and overall contrast - still dreaming of root and camera2 api for RAW capability, this phone will be a dream when that day comes!

When the lumia 1520 came out it was so horrible I stopped using the camera. Took a few months but they fixed the app, camera is still amazing even with the new phones coming out.
This is one area they're focusing on, they remarked they wanted to at least get basic functionality down, which you have to give them props on, Jan-Nov and they get a concept to market, and it doesn't suck. lol
Coming from years of Sony phones I have to say this is quite the piece of kit. Thoroughly enjoying audio and video. The camera is quite bad but I can wait for a fix.
Cool, right off the bat I can take pictures of text on my monitor without it going fuzzy like the pre-update camera app. Anyone care to try post-update razer camera app to take a pic of a website on their monitor? Does it go fuzzy?
i need the pixel camera to save to external sd card - is there a modded apk which offers this option?
obviously the reason it doesnt have that option off the bat is because the pixel does not have a micro sd slot

Doubtful as that is in the post processing I believe. The reason people are looking for the Gcam port, or they would just adjust the current camera software.
Being a post-process is exactly why you should be able to do whatever you want woth the background. So is it a yes or a no? Can you do it with stock camera?
Actually I meant that it's done in the OnePlus algorithms. Meaning you'd have to be a camera expert to even know what does what. It's not like taking an APK and porting it. You'd have to rewrite it or know what to rewrite. At least this is what I'd expect

If you're that worried about raw, you should be shooting with a dslr camera. These are point and shoot that has been given a manual mode but these are still not a replacement for a regular dslr.

To me since I am a photography enthusiast (fairly serious) that the portrait mode is still just for quick snaps to give a more focus point of view on the subject, not for wedding photos and such. I get your point you still want to maybe do some editing. But I guess my point is if you like the phone for enough to want to buy it and raw photo editing is a thing, it sees that the OP should have looked for that from the beginning and not be shocked it's missing that feature 3 months after release in a forum post. Just my opinion

Well that will contribute to your problem, you are basically just taking a normal photo. Adjust the settings and experiment.
Also RAW photos are really easy to post process with the right software. I remember on the EVO LTE (one x) we had a RAW camera mod that I used some really cool software to post process and took really great photos with.
The RAW photos right out of the box we're very dark and not polished at all. I had to do all of that after the shot was taken.
As far as I know this is the point of RAW photos. The aperture gathers as much data as possible, and the photographer post processes that data as they see fit. Now I'm no pro at all and I could be off base, but that's my basic understanding of it.
If I get some time I'll go lurking around the old android forum I was a MOD on and see what I can find. I had an old friend and mentor on there that we collaborated on quite a bit of this stuff.
Have to adjust settings for night shots, lower/adjust iso,lower/adjust shutter speed,lower/adjust lighting

It wasn't the Exo LTE, it was the M8 with the Ultra Pixel Camera everyone was bashing.
Here's the thread I was referring to with the camera mod and post processing software.: https://androidforums.com/threads/raw-camera.854215/
You'll have to sift through the thread for goodies and info. Early Mon was a god in the early HTC days, and directly involved with getting us HTC DEV for unlocking our bootloaders. I haven't messed with any of this stuff in years, don't have enough time.
Hi,
Decided to check for updates manually today and was surprised to find that the new update was finally available for this phone that includes the camera update!
I installed it but haven't noticed much of a difference. I'm not complaining, as I liked the camera from the start.
However, one thing I did notice with this phone is that when you take a pic at full 48mp, if you zoom in, there are artifacts in the image. The problem is that it seems this new update made 48mp pics significantly worse! Have you guys noticed this? The same aluminum/bar-like artifacts are there but the images themselves are significantly degraded in quality.
Let me know if guys experience the same or if maybe I'm doing something wrong when taking full, uncompressed 48mp pics in pro mode.
Thanks!

I had to get a new OP7Pro due to the back glass cracking on my first one. Since receiving the new one, I haven't installed the TMobile 9.5.6GM31CB update seeing as it does nothing for our device. If someone else confirms that this latest update messes up the photo quality, I will continue to hold off on updating until it is resolved.
Thanks for reply. The other strange thing is that when checking for updates, it still shows the same security update from April and not this latest update, even though I got confirmation it installed successfully. Very strange.

So the 48MP mode that you are referring to is the Pro mode, and 48MP JPEG, correct? If that's the only thing that takes a hit, I may update from 9.54. I never navigate to that mode to take a photo so this may not be a bad thing for me personally.
