Hello,
I'm trying to fix my sons tablet, it's a Vivitar XO tablet.
There are no roms/custom recoveries made for this tablet that I can find.
I'd be fine trying similar device roms until the device works/bricks but nothing I've tried works.
I've tried CWM and TWRP for several devices with no success.
I've tried ADB with no success (I can see device, but it always fails)
I've tried installing from external SD but that always fails.
I can get to the recovery but most, if not all, Android apps are non functional because of the stupid "XO locked software". I cannot get to device settings nor can I see the device as a USB device unless it's in ADB.
My goal is to have a custom ROM like CM, but even a ROM to just start the dang thing in Android would be better.
I've tried the cyanogenmod installer, but it is down and won't load. I've tried a program called SP Flash Tool but I can't find/make a scatter file.
If there's anything I can be doing different, please let me know.

Has anyone every tried installing on a tablet such as this?

I have been searching for answer over 10 days, but still can't figure out how to resolve this. I don't how exactly it bricked, it just couldn't start anymore. I can get into recovery menu, but there isn't any option to recover android. It was rooted before, and worked normally. I cant find any other way to flash any rom on it. I appreciate any help on this matter, tnx in advance!

What seems confusing is that there may be some Arnova's made by Archos. Archos has a forum, but sadly, Arnova does not (not finding much about your device either).
At any rate, try the thread/forum above, and be patient with regard to a response. This seems to be a rare device, so it would be harder to get the attention you need.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
The other way
I understood that the complete system is wiped out. I can use adb while its in recovery menu. I used it to transfer official system image onto it, but in its options i cant find it. I transferred it to multiple locations, all of them can be seen in recovery menu but all are empty. I wonder if there is a way to flash some other android version on it? Or some ROM like CWM, but apparently there are no official releases. And since i am not very good at this i wonder how to make sure that kernel is OK? Can such thing be done? It has Android system recovery <3e>

CWM is a recovery, not a ROM, but can be used to flash ROMs.
With 3e, you should be able to flash the stock ROM for the device via adb (called side loading). So that may work for you.
Hope this helps.

So you might be familiar with LG's newest budget phone the LG Lancet but I bet a lot of you haven't even heard of the phone. I had attempted to root the phone with kingroot and it worked perfectly. I then wanted to get SuperSU instead of kingroot for obvious reasons so I had downloaded an apk known as Super-Sume and after I had restarted my phone it would not boot into android 5.1., instead it was stuck in a bootloop and I had to factory reset. Now when I start the phone, it boots into the startup but it just says "Please wait while we prepare your phone" forever. I don't really know what to do since this phone is so uncommon. I mean, you can't even find a damn unboxing video on youtube! Again, this is the android version of the phone and not the windows version (obviously). I have access to a computer and I have an sd card in the phone if needed. I just need instructions on how I can possibly fix this phone since it's so hard to find any sort of stock rom for it or any information on it in general. Thanks

Hi everyone, I'm quite new to here. I rooted my phone a while back & enabled knox security which ended up causing it to get stuck in a bootloop.
CWM is damaged, it says E: Unknown, or it says things are disabled like adb sideload etc. I'm really stumped!
I'm not sure where to begin, I've tried Samsung kies, odin, a few other programs, none of which have worked at all.. Is there no way I can flash TWRP to it somehow? I'd really LOVE some help, I can't afford a new phone.
Any help is really appreciated!! Thank you!

Hello All,
I need some assistance with my brother's Sharperview SV-85BL that's running Android OS. It keeps downloading and installing random applications to the point where it slows everything and makes it impossible to use. I have tried factory resetting several times and this does not solve the problem. An application called "CPS" and "Snake" always crash on startup and as soon as I connect to Wi-Fi, all apps are downloaded again.
A co-worker told me that it's more than likely a root level infection and that my factory rom has been compromised. I was able to do a scan with MalwareBytes (being a PC guy, this has helped me many times) and an infection was found with Google Search but was not removable. That same co-worker explained to me that root level access is not permitted for any applications so infections like this need to be handled differently.
So my first question... Does anybody know where I can retrieve the custom rom to restore?
Here's some additional info:
Model Number: SV-85BL
Android Version: 4.2.2
Build Number: ALPS.JB3.MP.V1.8
Custom build version: k7_wvga_3g_port_jhshm05_v05
I tried searching but I was unable to find anything. If I did find this rom, could I restore from the sd card via recovery menu?
If finding this rom is not possible, is my only other option to root my device so I can install any custom rom? If so, I would need to be pointed in the right direction for rooting instructions for this device.
Thanks in advance.

I bought a 2nd hand SM-G920F. It was rooted and I really prefer an unrooted device to get the OTA. Anyhow, I went to unroot the device and it didn't go so well. It bombed right at the very end of the odin step. So I ran it again with the same rom. No luck. Right now I have a fairly expensive paperweight. I can get it to boot into recovery and download modes. I have TWRP installed on the damn thing, but the touchscreen isn't working. I can move files around with adb and fastboot, but I can't really get it do anything. I keep getting the waiting for devices thingy. It appears as if there's no OS on the phone right now, just a file structure that I can manipilate thru an adb shell. Any help would be appreciated.
