Tasker help - Android Apps and Games

I've searched all over and cannot find a way to do this so i decided to post a question and see if anyone can help.
On the Tasker app i want to make my phone automatically reply to a received text message from a specific contact one time only. right now as it stands, my auto response will keep being sent to the contact until i manually disable the task. is there a way to have it only send once and disable on it's own??
also, does anyone know where i can find a list of all the variables and their functions?? or maybe a link that you guys found helpful when using this app. so far what i've been able to make it do is amazing but i know there is so much more that i need to learn. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

How to automatically clear SMS notifications after reading them

It's getting kind of annoying that I would have to click on 'clear notifications' even after reading those SMSs... any idea how to turn this off the moment I preview or read them? I'm using HandCent and I can't seem to find the proper setting. Appreciate any help.

Ok you ask for help, then figure it out so why not share with everyone the answer. It could help someone else looking to do the same thing.

There's a thread on xda somewhere called "the ultimate guide to tasker" or something like that. There's a ton of info in that thread and people are usually helpful and reply quickly.

[Q] HTTP GET request via Llama w/o opening browser

Hello,
I'd like to figure out a way to use Llama to send an HTTP GET request to my home automation system. In particular I wish to turn the power to the charger on and off based on battery percent as this tablet will be mounted on a wall. Since Llama seems to require opening of the browser to do this, I'm assuming this would require another app. My question is, does one exist? I just want a shortcut that will execute a HTTP request in a completely invisible fasion. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hello,
I have the same request. Do you find a solution?

Yes. I wrote my own little app that will create shortcuts. It's not in the Play store but I could try to send it to you if you'd like.
I find a solution with the app Tasker. This app could send an Http request but i have other issue. The better way will be to make my own app. If you could send me your version, it will be a great help for starting.
(Sorry for my English)

I just sent you an email with the apk attached. I just downloaded the Tasker trial and wasn't super impressed. Perhaps if it were free I would've made use of it but I enjoyed the opportunity to learn a little about Android development. What was your issues with Tasker?
Let me know if my app works for you.
Hello !
I'm also looking for a similar solution.
I use Llama and I need to update my Android GPS location through a HTTP POST.
I really don't want to use tasker... Do you have clues for me ? I'm able if needed to create an APK.
Thanks !

The little app I wrote is only designed to make a static HTTP request. In other words, it won't be able to read any Llama variables or anything like that. However, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to modify the app to support what you're looking to do. I could send you the source code privately if you promise to send me back your changes.
@mrceolla Could you send me the app and source code. I shall send back any changes I do.

[Q] moto e google talk problems

hello, nice site. I have searched and couldn't find an answer so I hope this is in the right place.
I just got a moto e a couple weeks ago and now my google talk isn't bringing up my contacts. It is hearing me because it comes up in text but then an error message: Sorry, the action you tried to perform requires Device State and Content, which is not available on this device"
Does anyone know what is going on here?
thanks in advance for any help I can get.

I would but it's doing it again since I did a hard reset. Last time I just left it alone for a bit then when I tried it later it gave me an option at bottom of screen to enable. good luck.
If anyone here knows what may be happening here your help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I got it back again, here is what to do:
go to settings: apps: google app: manage space: then clear your data.
I cleared all data but you may want to try and just clear your search data first. I hope this works for you, if it does could you hit my thanks button?

how to download a full thread in any forum for offline reading ?

hi i always have problems in internet because of my traveling, thats why i always download custom roms whenever i get a chance and also it's first page of thread for any info i might need when i install that rom.
but i found that sometimes solutions to problems are found if you read full thread, so i got this idea of why not download a full thread for later use specially if i can in pdf format.
i searched google for it, there are many old questions of this kind but no i couldn't find any solutions.
i found httrack, it looks good but its far too complicated for a user like me, can anyone have a look at httrack and tell me how can i use it on xda?
or if there is any special software for xda which can download whole thread with images please?
any help would be appreciated,
no one?
I am looking for the same answer. I want to be respectful before just posting a question but some threads have 30-80 pages and there is always refer back to some other prior posts so I have not found a good way to catch up on a thread. I have tried reading from the end and going back 3-6 pages but I suspect there is something along the way in pages 20, or 38 or 43 that is relevant. If there is no solution, then newbies end up posting at the end of thread with what others view as lazy and not reading the thread. How in the heck do you download the thread so I can do a faster read?
{Mod edit: Quoted post has been deleted}
no, thats not what i am trying to achieve, i want a full thread to be downloaded, like with all pages it have, so i can read offline all the pages. i can't save as every page if a thread has hundreds of pages. so it's not practical.
but thanks for you input. i would wait for someone who might know a way...

To be honest, I doubt XDA itself will want this kind of function to be availble because it is funded by various ads, ads that can only be seen and only generate funds when actively online.

We'll see what they have to say..
This was the reply I got :

I think what user wants is... getting an XML with all post texts including poster name/info (though it means attachments cannot get) as in when trying to extract all PMs from XDA site as an XML file.
That would be very long and huge size on 2000-10000 paged threads (even with 10 posts per page). But that could be very practical if possible

I understand but unfortunately it's not possible. The best way is to change settings to show 50 posts per page and use Chrome (or similar) to "print" and "save as" pdf :good:

Try loading the page, then right click in the page then choose the "select all" option to highlight all the text on the page, then copy the text, then create a new text file, then paste the copied text in the file, you'll have to do this with each page of the thread.
Or, you can use screen record and scroll through the pages and posts while recording.
