Time between MM beta and MM official release? - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, cousins,
For the Z5, how long was it between the closed beta release of Marshmallow and the official Marshmallow release?
I ask because a closed Z3c beta has just started (but for only three countries), and I'm trying to guess how long we'll have to wait for the official release.
Thanks.

What closed beta I didn't think there was one for the z5

Oh, O.K. Then my question isn't valid. I had assumed that Sony followed the same pattern with their Android releases. Thanks for setting me straight.

Afaik it was only the z3 series however it won't be the first or the last time I've been proved wrong I have broad shoulders ?

[DISCUSSION] Android 5.0 for our devices.

Android 5.0 is codenamed key lime pie and would already be running perfectly on a device which has only 512mb of ram, so i wanted to make a thread dedicated to any news about our device and Android 5.0, it should be going live in October. Sony Helpdesk didn't give any information yet about it when i contacted them ;(.
Any rumours, speculations can be posted here.
Do you think it is likely our device's are getting Android 5.0?
I am sure they won't EVER be getting official 5.0. Most likely will get with xda and Cyanogenmod though.

Well most sites say that 5.0 is optimized for low-end devices etc, so it would be sad if we wont get this version

If our device's hardware possible to get KLP, i think it wont due to Japanese market strategy. So, they encourage us to buy newer device.

Our devices haven't even got 4.2 yet. I think it's too early to expect 5.0 .

Man, tipo can handle ICS ok, Jelly Bean has Project Butter, so it's verry smooth, why Key Lime Pie can't run on our devices?
Well it ain't confirmed that key lime pie would be released. And the news in the web are rumour. So don't post knowing something correctly..
No offence and hard feelings

Whats the benefit on android 5, if you cant even play video properly on custom kernel? Unless devs work on making custom kernel run as smooth as stock sony , fixing gsm / 3g video call, hardware decoding, I think stock is better option for now. No bootloader unlocking for me.

Xperia Tipo/Miro will definitely not be getting official Android 4.1 and beyond.
You guys already reached EOL. (end of life)
Xperia J and E will most likely also end at Android 4.1.

Well I think the Xperia tipo deserves 1 update for a less, we need to create a post and send up to Sony and Qualcomm, to dispel all the answer!! Is hard to see the Sony release device only whit 1 update like Xperia j and nothing like miro, tipo and tipo dual is not fair because we pay for her product they don't give us free

It will never happen. Sony will never ever upgrade Xperia Tipo and Miro to 4.1 and beyond. Xperia Tipo and Miro reached EOL (end of life) and it's Sony's least priority. Only bug fixes from now on. There will not be update to add new Walkman apps etc or upgrade to Android 4.1 and beyond.
Well it is kind of sorrow, when you know that your device is end, and you don't even own him for a year. Since there won't be any further official upgrades it would be nice to unlock our phones and bootloaders with some kind of OTA update only for that.

What end? Maybe Key Lime Pie need required hardware lower than Jelly Bean.
Android 5.0 is Google 5th android yet.

That depends on sony, if they ever decide to give us updates. Heh, even x8 just stayed at 2.1 even though everyone else got gb.

It's the end for your phone. X10 received it because it was Sony's previous flagship. Xperia Tipo is Sony's lowest, cheapest phone. Let's be realistic, you guys will remain on 4.0 ICS forever.

Me? I dont mind staying on ics, as long as its official. If i really want android 5, i really should wait and buy 5.0 out-of-box device.

I highly doubt that any sony device will get JB 4.3, exept Z, Z Ultra and Honami I1. Maybe these phones will be the only phones that will get upgrade for a newer version

Xperia L have an android 4.4 kit kat, but it's pure, and is part of the AOSP project of sony.
To install you need to unlock the bootloader ( and lose the warranty ).

As of now Sony hasn't said anything. Obviously we all hope we get Kit-Kat. I would expect some news after the Kit-Kat roll out for the Xperia Z series has started (mid-end February).
Any one notice the leaked screenshots of z2

Problem is that our device is mid range, not flagship
Agree!! But point is that our device launched in 2013?
And new xperia E1 going to launch this year with 512 mb ram.
it comes with 4.3 android.

I'm waiting for it, hope give it soon.

We'll definitely not be getting KitKat Android 4.4, chances are dim. However, a 4.3 update is possible (not sure though).
Obviously we all would love to see the latest Android software for our phones, but till now.. *fingers crossed*
KitKat is still very new, most of the flagship devices are just getting it. Obviously midrange devices are less important, so even if we'll get a 4.4 update, it'll be months later from now.
And hopefully we'll get it, even if we have to wait for a while, a lot of other phones with Snapdragon 400 are getting 4.4, I don't think Sony will forget about us.
So,Possibility to get kitkat.

I thought Xperia u would get 4.1 jelly bean but Sony surprised me when they announced that the less powerful Xperia J would get the update insted goes to show anything could happen.
Well, we may or may not get the update..
It's purely in the hands of Sony
If they decide to give, they will.. If not, then they won't..
Fortunately, we are getting CM11 which is based on Android 4.4 and unfortunately its release is delayed week by week..

Its better not to ignite hope and desire in people when you can't fulful your own promises. I still remember 25th dec,2013 as cm11 promised .Just think for a second , only 7 days left to be delayed for 2 months release. And i know that it won't come soon maybe in March but thats not for sure.
And still bluetooth is not fixed
Maybe 4.3 update in March...

There was no source released so that should be a....no.
That would be a no until way after November when its actually released by Google. People get awfully excited about photos.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. I was just wondering because I know that the nexus devices received a Dev build to try but I didn't know if it was possible to port it to another device. Guess I'll have to wait till the official release.

Whatsapp message count not showing

Hi all.
After the first marshmallow update for my Z5 I noticed that whatsapp message count stopped working.
Even after todays update it still doesn't work, which worked perfectly fine before the marshmallow update.
I'm in the stock Xperia launcher.
Any ideas how I can get it back or is it a known change?
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
It's not just you anyway. I think I saw some more discussions around here about this but I can't remember if this was a Sony or Marshmallow thing...

S7 Android 7 Nougat Beta - Questions

Hello there,
Im on 6.0.1, should I install the Android 7 Nougat beta now? or should I wait for the official release?
Mods please close this thread.
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
And why? Anything wrong w/ that question?
It will be here soon, be patient. If you feel like wiping everything by flashing an earlier firmware - starting over when the official version rolls out, go ahead. I'd just wait but that's me. It would seem like a tease
