How to install ota.zip and syncmansgerdownloadfile.zip manually in Verizon m8?
Related
Hey. I was wondering if you could help me update my phone to the latest ota update. I'm rooted and have xposed installed, and anytime I try to update the zip fails to install. I've also tried removing xposed, but it still didn't work.
Any suggestions?

Use search, you can't use OTA on a rooted phone as rooting alters system files that the OTA expects to NOT be altered.

In another thread they told me that I can update if my phone is rooted and with stock recovery.
What you can do is flash a custom recovery and then after copy the outs file from /cache to your PC. On your PC modify the updater-script and repack the zip file and flash it on your phone through custom recovery.
You can even unpack the contents of OTA. zip and manually copy it in your /system and fix the permissions.
I am s-off and rooted with custom recovery.I renamed the update zip in cache and still keep getting the update popup. It was easy on my s4 and g2 just freeze update.I do not see a update apk listed in root explorer on this phone.

my verizon some how has the playstore rom NDE63V and not the X like most verizon models. How do I apply the newest update OTA?
Download the OTA and sideload it through the stock recovery with a computer. Reboot. Done.
There are a ton of guides online showing you how to sideload an OTA. It's fairly easy, the hardest part is usually just making sure you have your adb drivers installed.
I used the AndroidCentral guide here: https://www.google.com/amp/amp.androidcentral.com/how-manually-upgrade-your-nexus
If I already have TWRP (bootloader unlocked through depixel8) and am rooted, will flashing the zip through TWRP simply apply an update and let me keep TWRP and my previous data?
Edit: Read up a bit more. Seems like you'll need to be on 63V and then sideload the update (not through TWRP).
Hi guys,
So I'm running a stock ROM with root and unlocked bootloader. Just got a notification for an OTA. Should I accept it or will it cause issues?
Thanks

It's going to fail because of root. Sideload the ota with TWRP. Or flash the stock image but remove the -w from the flashall bat file to save dara and apps. Then reroot.

Ah OK thanks, will do. Any way to check what version the downloaded OTA is, so that I can get the corresponding ZIP from the official site?
Here the link for Oreo uodate for 4g model.
http://android.googleapis.com/packa.../dd05a116a9a2adede043441a166654cbf4448a34.zip
After downloading, change the folder downloaded to update.zip, then use update from ADB Sideload procedure to update.
It is successfull for me.
It worked just fine. Thank you for the link.
