System ui has stopped - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I updated via pc companion. Phone boots but the system ui just crashes constantly. Can't access settings, notification pull down or load the camera with the hardware button. Can only long press power and get power off or restart menu.
Tried repair in pc companion, same thing happens. Tried flashing the Marshmallow firmware in flashtool and same result. Anyone else experience this? Anyone have any ideas what caused this or how to fix it?

Did you flash the firmware and wiped your data? If no than wipe data

Yes, did data wipe.
I've solved it. Look like it was the sd card. Worked fine on lollipop but Marshmallow didn't like it. I tried deleting things off it first but in the end had to format it. Worked fine after that without having to reflash anything.

I've got the same problem here.
So you formatted your sd card before flashing, and everything worked fine, or you first booted in and then insert the formatted SD card?
Btw, after the app crashes I couldn't get the phone unlocked even if I took out the sd card.

Weird problem. Cannot factory Reset. Phone keeps restoring previously installed apps.

Hi There,
I have been having the Samsung Galaxy Sl for 2 months now and the software kept crashing. I went to privacy and opted for a factory reset. Funny thing is no matter how many times I do a factory reset the phone restarts, and installs all the apps which i personally installed again. This is not a google recovery problem where all data is backed up in google. But the apps just magically reappear even after formatting the internal sd in recovery mode and reflashing it to the latest firmware. I am at a loss. I got a shock that even after reflashing my firmware to the latest 2.3.4 JKPJ5 it still reinstalls apps such as AVG, the BBC News, Cool reader.. And even my old wallpaper again.
Steps I have taken:
1) Formatted internal sd
2) Used recovery mode and wiped partition and cleared cache
3) Did factory reset and even installed a new firmware.
I have done everything. Pls help. My home button is also not working and the all the corrupted data from my old installation also comes back
Even when I restart my phone, any new apps i install vanish and are again replaced by the old apps.

Did you try factory resetting with the code? That should help you! And please post this in the Q&A section henceforth!
Sorry. Moving to Q&A

Thanks.
Funny thing is i tried the reset codes. And only some work. I tried the reset code *2627*3855# . But I get an error saying its a connection probelm or invalid MMI code.
Sorry bangalorerohan. But I am not getting any replies in the Q&A section. I will just continue here for now..
Tell me the method you used to flash the new FW! I will tell you your error!
The probelm began before I even considered flashing my firmware. The sd card will be unexpectedly removed causing forced closes. Did a factory reset using the privacy menu quite a number of times for a few weeks. It helped for a while but the problem will always reocurred though. Then suddenly, factory resets stopped working alltogether. The phone will delete new apps i install every time i reinstall them and reinstall apps which i uninstall every time i restart the phone.
I thought flashing the firmware will fix the problem. But even after flashing the old apps and settings keep coming back.
Here are the steps I used to flash.
1) Removed sim card and micro sd card.
2) Restarted phone in download mode.
3) Run odin and plugged phone in Usb port
4) Checked Repartition, Auto Reboot, and Reset Time boxes.
5) Downloaded pit files.
6) Waited for it to pass
7) Pressed reset
8) Took phone out from usb port, took out battery and turned on download mode.
9) Flashed PDA, PHONE, AND CSC files. By ticking Auto reboot and reset time checkboxes.
10)Clicked Start
11) Waited for pass and started again.
I even tried using the recovery mode to wipe everything but still had the same problem. Apps and settings still keep reocurring from the corrupted android 2.2
I have done everything and am hoping for a solution for this frustrating problem. THinking of reflashing to android 2.2 and sending my phone to samsung for warranty.

I think you have done everything correctly. Maybe it's a hardware problem because your sd card keeps unmounting. Have you dropped it? They best way is to send it to service center for repair.

reflashing back to froyo
Hey guys thanks for your help. but the problem seems to be related to the hardware. I am reflashing my phone back to froyo and sending it to get the warranty. But after reflashing there seems to be another problem. I cant receive calls anymore. But i can make calls..
I need to know if samsung can find out if I have reflashed my phone because I am afraid that my warranty will be void. Is there anyone with experiece regarding samsung warranty?

play dumb, dont mention you flashed, tell them you tried to update with kies and since then the FW is acting up, you can't make calls anymore etc
Interestingly... i have exactly the same problem. I have had this problem for abt 4 months now and i have tried everything (except sending it back to the repair centre). I don't think its a hardware problem but more of a bad flash somewhere in between.
i have been searching the net for ages for a solution... have yet to find any.
Hi all:
I've got the same problem!!
Has any one a solution? I'm crazy with this.

You say your problem arises when you plug it in for charging all i can think of is maybe the usb connection port is faulty.. Because when i make roms i always plug and unplug the phone from my pc and when i am using Ubuntu my pc shuts off when i connect it.. Or if i am on windows it gives me blue screen of death.. And the fault is the LG usb bus driver i don't know that could be it but mines happen because i get excited and plug it in to fast lol..

I mean problem doesn't exist when phone is connected to chsrger/pc
and I wiped everything and still shuts down
I had that problem before after upgrading a custom firmware. Do a full backup of all application using Titanium Backup. Then delete all files in internal SD ".asecure" folder, do wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe batery stats, full wipe/factory reset.
Then fresh install firmware through CWM. The restore application and some important data only from Titanium Backup. Don't ever restore all system data. Just important stuff such as contact, sms, mms, calendar etc.

i have EXACTLY the same problem since i bought my phone, i'm close to finding the reason why this problem occurs (since i've sent my phone to lg twice, and twice they said they can't find anything wrong with the phone and return it to me exactly as it was, i'm trying to identify the problem before sending it again...maybe then they'll fix it...i'm not even gonna comment on lg service :| ). have you tried turning on your phone without simcard & memorycard inserted? does it still shutdown by itself?
EDIT: i don't think any amount of cleaning and reflashing will solve your problem...i've tried that a bunch of times before sending it to service and never had success...

I have that problem since my o3d returned from lg service after replacing mainboard (hw bricked) with v21a. I tried today without SDcard and after 4 hours guess.... yes power off :/
now I trying to do exactly like Cyclonmaster wrote, we'll see helps or not......
if not..... looking for GS2
without sim and memory card mine went 24h without shutting down.i think it never lasted this long before...i had already tired another sim & memory card before and it still shuted down so i know it's not my sim or my sd, i think it's either the phone sim reader or sd reader. currently testing sim on and no sd, 6h without shutdown so far...

I've tested without sdcard, and after few hours phone shuts down
Replaced simcard too, and doesn't helped
maybe this is superuser problem
ps. lates solution failed, after ten hours phone down
new simcard and no memorycard shutdown after 16h... i don't think it's super user related, as my phone had the problem since i got it (very very stupid me not sending it back right away) and had the problem before i touched anything in the software. and i'm currently using official v21a not rooted or messed with in any way and i still got the shutdowns...i still think it's something to do with the memorycard / reader since with no memorycard inserted the shutdowns are way less frequent...
i'll continue to make a few tests before i send the phone to service the third time.
if lg can't fix it the third time i'll probably find legal help...
bingo
Ihthink I found solution
Yesterday I was replaced simcard to other (other operator) and phone works without shutdowns
My solution is:
flash kdz without simcard and sdcard
how long have you been without shutdowns? which rom did you flash with kdz flasher? i had already flashed back to stock with kdz but i didn't remove the sim and sd while flashing and shutdowns still happened after. how did you flash exactly? thanks

1. backup internal sd to pc
2. remove external sd, insert to card reader or something, backup, format (full, not quick)
3. remove sim
4. boot, erase internal SD
5. reboot to CWM, wipe cache, data, battery stats, dalvik
5. boot, enable USB debugging
6. connect to pc via USB
7. flash KDZ (21D)
8. in case no USB connection poweroff don't close flash utility, disconnect USB, poweroff o3d, remove battery, connect USB and then pwron+vol up, after 5 seconds click restart in kdz flash tool
9. wait few minutes
10. when flashing ends close program, disconnect usb put in battery and do pwron+vol down (to enter to LG recovery)
11. wipe anything (data, NV recovery)
12. reboot
13. still without sim and ext sd
14. turn on usb debugging
15. root (megatron)
16. insert simcard
17. boot, config googe account and market
18. install rom manager from market
19. install cwm from rom manager
20. reboot to CWM
21. wipe anything
22. in CWM connect USB and mount usb storage
23. copy new rom (RushDroid 3.6)
24. umount usb storage
25. install copied rom
26. wipe anything
27. reboot
28. set up phone
29. poweroff, insert praviously formatted extsd
30. poweron and enjoy
ps. rushdroid is overclocked by default, yout o3d may be unstable (reboots too)
in that case set in setcpu cpu speed to 800 MHZ (I know, is underclock, but very very fast)
by the way, since last flashing i Have one poweroff, now uptime is almost 30 hrs
tkx for the step by step guide, i'll try it tomorrow and test for a while then post feedback
well, flashing without simcard or sdcard won't fix the problem, after ~20 hours my o3d power off :/
today he go to service warranity
same here, doesn't matter what i do always got shutdowns...not so frequent as before but still very annoying. i hope you have more luck with lg service than i did...i already sent them the phone two times and the only thing they did was "software update and factory reset", which obviously didn't solve anything... :|
yeah
I found the solution, My O3D was in service warranity two times, first he back with new software (no repair) and problem still exist
second visit in service replaced mainboard, and now everything is OK
ps. word KEY for people from service warranity:
03D randomly power off's but when he is connected to AC charger, then everything is fine
since i installed the v21e rom i haven't been having shutdowns, but reboots instead lol... only once a day or less, and at least i hear it rebooting.
i think my problem is the same you had and probably only fixable by motherboard replacement... i'll send it to support some more times when i have the patience. lg support really sucks and they have lost me as a customer because of that.

[Q] No wifi CM11, stuck on rom

Hello. I had an older build of CM11 on my One S which started having some issues.
Programs kept closing etc, so I decided to get the latest build update.
I noticed that I couldn't turn on the wifi, it was dark grey.
I read some topics about it, and resetting your phone to factory and clearing the cache and dalvik would fix it apparently.
I tried all of that, still no wifi. Then I tried deleting everything on my SD card, still no wifi + my old rom on the SD card is gone. So I can't go back.
I tried downloading another rom, and my intention was to put it on my phone with USB mass storage, but my computer doesn't recognize my phone at all anymore. I tried using adb sideload, and even the command prompt says it can't recognize any device.
Summary: Stuck on a bad rom with no wifi, don't have a backup rom and I can't put a new rom on my phone.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance, really need my phone to work!

Accidentally deleted TouchWiz Home? What can I do?

So I accidentally uninstalled Touchwiz Home and the phone keeps on rebooting. I got into the regular recovery mode and cleared cache, but the phone still reboots. The swiping screen turns on, but then it says "com.android.phone has stopped working or something like that and then immediately restarts. Is there a way to fix this? Or at least recover all of my files before restoring it? I really do not want to lose all of my files. Thanks.

There may be a couple of ways of correcting this. Much will depend on what bootloader and modem you are on.
Are you on a stock ROM, and if so what version?
Or, are you on a TouchWiz based custom ROM?
If you are rooted and have USB debugging enabled you may be able to adb to copy files and/or directories to a computer. You have probably already copied everything from the external sdcard to your computer. It is unfortunate that the stock recovery does not have file manager that allows you to copy to the external sdcard, TWRP does. TWRP may be an option if you are on an early version of the stock ROM.
As a final resort, on times when I have upgraded with OTAs or flashed custom ROMs without formating the internal sdcard the media partition remained intact. This may not be true with an Odin flash of the stock ROM. Then again /media may still be preserved.

TWRP Bootloop (SM-J327P)

I've been stressed out lately about trying to root my Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge.
I got TWRP 3.1.0-0 and went on install but the supersu 2.82 zip file wasn't showing so I tried to fix it.
First I tried Format Data and that didn't work, then I tried Changing File System for System, Data, and Cache one by one and that seemed to have worked. The supersu file showed and I installed it.
Then I Rebooted System and it said,"No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?" and this has happened to me before so I figured it would reboot back into TWRP and I would have to boot to download mode, and install the firmware through Odin, but that didn't happen, what happened instead was when I Rebooted System, on the top right it said,"kernal is not seandroid enforcing, set warrenty bit:kernal" and would keep bootlooping, I went back into TWRP by taking the battery out and putting it back in then holding power, home, and volume up and I was back in TWRP.
The thing is it would keep doing this and I'm kinda stuck right now tbh. I already tried Formatting Data, Flashing a ROM, and installing the SM-J327P Firmware, but nothing worked. I'm guessing the only way to fix this is by changing back to my original File Systems and then installing the Firmware through Odin, but I'm stupid and don't remember the original File Systems. So if any of you could tell me the default File System for System, Data, and Cache or another way to fix this that would be great. Thanks
I'm still stuck in this situation...
Any help plz?

You have to use the getprop command to get your software number. Then you have to restore that EXACT software. You might have probably updated unknowingly, and the bootloader updated too. So restoring to an older firmware might bootloop. It was a huge pain in the butt to get mines working after this issue but I got it right after a few tries. I flashed the custom J327p rom they made for it, factory reset and just waited until it booted. Was a long time but after trying every restore and refreshing, I got it working. There's the newest firmware out (idk the name since I just have the metro version of this phone now) but only that one will get the phone running. If you ever do get it running, root with magisk as this phone is VERY sensitive to SU and won't work half the time

Thanks for the reply but I have tried restoring with a firmware with my exact software number, model, version, changelist, build date, country/carrier(sprint), and security patch level and I did a format data, yet It didn't work... As far as I know, the bootloop was not caused by the firmware, it was caused by me manually changing the Partitions' File Systems, however I do not remember the original File Systems for the partitions. In case this madders, the way I changed it was by pressing "Wipe" in TWRP, then "Advanced Wipe", then selecting "System", then "Repair or Change File System", then "Change File System", and choosing a random button. I also selected "Data" and "Cache" but I did it individually, one at a time.

I do have a brother that has the EXACT same phone as me so I tried installing TWRP on his phone and checking the original File Systems, however TWRP doesn't install on his phone for some reason. I enabled developer options, USB debugging, OEM, and installed the drivers and when I install TWRP recovery on his phone through odin it says it was successful but for some reason when I boot into the bootloader it's the regular one that comes with the phone and not TWRP. I'm guessing this is because he has low storage (95% used up). But he doesn't cooperate with me and says he doesn't want the TWRP on his phone because virus blah blah idk (and I don't know how to remove it without factory reset, which he doesn't want to do even though he can backup his stuff) also doesn't want to delete or free up storage from his phone. So I'm going to try wiping my phone through odin i guess...

Storage space has nothing to do with flashing recoveries because they have their own partition. I suggest you flash the same TWRP you used on his phone, then as soon as it finishes flashing, boot into recovery IMMEDIATELY by pressing volume up, power, and home. do NOT let the device boot. If you screw up and it gets to the Samsung animation, flash again and try again. This is because some of the latest Android devices tend to restore recovery upon boot for some reason. Through my experience, anyways. Try this and let me know your results.

You have to factory reset. I don't know how you're gonna do it but that's the only way to get out of it otherwise you might have been doing something else other than installing TWRP and broke something. I suggest you restore to stock and try again. If you didn't make a back up, you might be bricked unless you flash the stock firmware with a computer

I don't know how you're gonna do it but that's the only way to get out of it otherwise you might have been doing something else other than installing TWRP and broke something. I suggest you restore to stock and try again. If you didn't make a back up, you might be bricked unless you flash the stock firmware with a computer

Thank you so much for your help! My phone is back and luckily my brother had a backup so we fixed his phone and I rooted with Magisk which apparently I needed a micro SD card because my internal storage showed as 0mb and tried everything to fix it ,which is why I was in this mess in the first place, then I finally decided to buy an SD card and it worked!

I have tried manually mounting, format data, wiping system, cache, and data one by one, changing the File Systems one by one, and alot more. NOTHING WORKED. However every youtube video that I have seen about rooting my exact phone with twrp, all had and used micro SD cards! I tried avoiding buying one but every time I try to fix it any other way it ends up either not doing anything or screwing up my device. Once savagevegeta helped me out of the mess I caused by trying to fix the 0mb I decided screw it, no other method worked so might as well try buying a SD card, and guess what happened, IT WORKED! And I realized why every single guide and yt video used micro SD cards for my model.

I guarantee you're doing it incorrectly. See my TWRP thread for correct instructions to mount data.

Your data partition will still be unmountable and remain 0mb, which means you are unable to make a backup.
However if you're happy with it in that state...
Re: bootloop
