Did anybody find a way to make the contact pictures bigger and maybe squared? We have such a beautiful big screen, but in contacts the pics are smaller than a 1 Cent coin...

Why do you need bigger contact photo, when you call them/receive a call it uses the full screen background.
Not in my case... It's always a coin size small round picture.... In both the contacts app and also when calling...I'm still on the way to b103 firmware.

I'm still with B103 version and you are write....it would be great to have bigger contact photo on in/out calls.
I don't know if a newer update solve this because my L29C636 version doesn't seem to take update soon....we have stuck to B103 and we have to live with it.Too sad.
We're in the same boat... I have the same firmware... Bought in Cambodia... Also in the contact app, the contact pic is just too small.... Hmm... What to do, ya?

When a Contact calls me, its a little Circle. But if i give this contact a NEW picture (or the same again) its big when he/she calls me. I gave all contacts new pictures and worked for me! B163! L-29
I have currently 3574 contacts, all neatly sorted in groups from over the last 15 years... Assigning new pictures is just not an option for me ??

Try only one contact to see if it help! Maybe others dont have this much contacts

Why is it when you get or make a phone call your contact pictures even though they are HD look like crap and are totally pixel ed? When using my friends Iphone they are nice and clear and HD. Am I missing something here?
Did you add the photos on your phone or via Gmail? I've found that when added via Gmail the are downloaded to the phone in lower quality than when you add the with the phone.

I blame El NiƱo! Less burning of fossil fuels would be a good start.
Go SMS as well as other third party apps will show pics...not sure why stock messeging does not.

As far I can tell when the contact has more than one number, the messaging app will show the number and will have the phone number type next to it
for example "(mobile)" or "(work)"

I've found out mine auto-magikally imported my Sim contacts but wouldn't auto link them with the right google contacts (using the same sim since 2007).
You'll need to go into the People app and hide everything but the contacts stored on the phone - then either link or delete them. I chose to delete them. If you delete them, download a SIM management tool from the Play store and delete them from the SIM as well (seemed to restore the contacts from the sim when I OTA'd to 1.29.7 but after redeleting them from the sim they didn't reappear with the 1.29.11 update).

It doesn't show the name, number, number type, and contact picture at the top?
Try changing number format from (###) ###-#### or any other format to simply ##########. Seemed to work for me. You will have to do this for each contact.

always or randomly? mine decides randomly it either wants to or doesn't want to display as contact name or number through the stock app handcent or gosms... I can deal with this a lot more than the signal going in and out...

mine has started doing it randomly as you describe, very annoying.
edit - i think i've found the problem, its because the messages are coming in as from "+447XXXXXX" and in my phone book i dont have the +44, just 07XXXXX, after changing them to +44 in front, its all ok.
now just to go through my contacts and change them all.... sigh.
Is there a way to make the Caller ID photos not blurry other then using HD Full Screen Caller ID app? I use Ubersync for facebook to update my contacts photos and information in my contacts but they all come out blurry.
I use haxsync which is pretty good and takes HD pictures from Facebook. There's also sync me but I haven't tried it.

Does it sync with hd pic? 'cause the last time I checked, the result was not as good as haxsync.

There is only one "small" problem... It's not possible to find haxsync on Play....

The pics are super sharp and it also adds some cool features to call screen if you choose to use them. I just discovered this app a couple days ago when I realized that haxsync wasn't updated to work with kitkat.
I use UberSync for Facebook. I didn't know about sync.me until now and I can't compare them, but UberSync does its work pretty well.

Sync.me doesn't incorporate with contacts app, it's a standalone app, so I think haxsync it's a one-way solution, if ubersync doesn't sync with hd pics. Haxsync works with KitKat.

I used to use sync.me but personally I find haxsync much better. Also it syncs much more like calendars, status updates and the pictures seem better.

Am I the only one here that would have a contact list full of either random people, or dogs, or famous people if they sync'd their facebook friends profile pictures?
lol
I have manually added contact images since i went Nexus simply because i got sick of not seeing the actual person that was calling me....I'm a little OCD about stuff like that...so i manually went in and plucked High res images from Facebook for each contact, uploaded them, and they get sync'd across in nice crisp images now. I rarely add new contacts, but when i do, I just do it manually. it kinda sucks, but its the only way i can get an accurate picture that is the same every time that person calls me.
What about non Facebook people? I don't use Facebook for anything but I would still like HD pictures. Any ideas?

There's a problem with syncing..
HaxSync
I've unpublished HaxSync from Google Play for now until this gets resolved.

Seriously? We have to use a 3rd party for this??? What a pain. Had this with S3 and now S4. I find it hard to believe (call me naive) but why can't Samsung or Google, or Android or whoever simply make this little item work. All my FB synced contacts the photo is blurry.
I sold my note 3 yesterday and bought a nexus 5.
In the stock contact app I don't see pictures on the contacts.
On Samsung n HTC it use to merge FB and wapp pics and show as contact pics.
Is there a way to do it here? I've got the fb account set up and it's working.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
You need an app to do it, e.g. Haxsync:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mots.haxsync
Stock Android doesn't have the option to sync with Facebook contacts
HaxSync is blocked by Facebook at the moment. SyncMe is the better option. Its improved a lot recently.
I paid the money and it didn't work..luckily the refund option was still available.. Thank you.. I'll try that

I may start using it again for birthdays then. Although Sync ME does seem better at the moment...

Sometimes have to allow Haxsync to sync a few times at first, depends on how many contacts you have to sync (I only have 56 contacts on my phone). Personally, it's the best app I've used, been using it on my old phones (GNex, Nexus 4) and now my Nexus 5
