I blame El NiƱo! Less burning of fossil fuels would be a good start.

As far I can tell when the contact has more than one number, the messaging app will show the number and will have the phone number type next to it
for example "(mobile)" or "(work)"

I've found out mine auto-magikally imported my Sim contacts but wouldn't auto link them with the right google contacts (using the same sim since 2007).
You'll need to go into the People app and hide everything but the contacts stored on the phone - then either link or delete them. I chose to delete them. If you delete them, download a SIM management tool from the Play store and delete them from the SIM as well (seemed to restore the contacts from the sim when I OTA'd to 1.29.7 but after redeleting them from the sim they didn't reappear with the 1.29.11 update).

It doesn't show the name, number, number type, and contact picture at the top?
Try changing number format from (###) ###-#### or any other format to simply ##########. Seemed to work for me. You will have to do this for each contact.

always or randomly? mine decides randomly it either wants to or doesn't want to display as contact name or number through the stock app handcent or gosms... I can deal with this a lot more than the signal going in and out...

mine has started doing it randomly as you describe, very annoying.
edit - i think i've found the problem, its because the messages are coming in as from "+447XXXXXX" and in my phone book i dont have the +44, just 07XXXXX, after changing them to +44 in front, its all ok.
now just to go through my contacts and change them all.... sigh.

Can't you see the to/from on your bill? I'm sprint and I can see this --not actual words but texts to/from numbers
Then use reverse lookup to get info, or google

it's actually an app that tracks your phone, can show call logs/texts, & what not. I use it in case my phone is ever stolen & it's way better than HTC's htcsense.com site.
for your case, you'd need to install it on her phone & then you can do with it what you want. There's a 7 day trial for it. If you send the command to get texts the phone doesn't know it. Also, you can make it hide the program from the app drawer so that it doesn't look like it's installed.
I know this isn't the intended use, but it may help you out

While my one x is charging, wanted to see if I can find workarounds till root is available for a few things:
Battery percent on status bar (something nice looking but lightweight)
No search button, including assigning long press to an app.
Notification toggles
Using nova, and even in a lot of other apps, missing the menu button. Any suggestions or is anyone else having this issue?
Sure would like to restore some of my app data.. Especially for the few games I have.
Any good and battery friendly lock screen replacement? Last I heard widget locker still wasn't ics compatible.
Any way to block ads on an unrooted phone lol?
Anyone get Google voice working?
Sure was spoiled having root during my entire prior android experience. I've went ahead and got this assuming we'll have root in the not so distant future. Just trying to get by till then. I have a hard time seeing myself with anything else but a htc phone but I'll switch to the s3 if nothing changes by the time its released.. Grr.. sure don't want to.
Ty so much for any help I can get.

As far as Google voice is concerned, still can't get it to take. It changed two of my forwarding numbers but won't switch my voicemail in settings, nor does my call history include my google voice mails.

As far as google voice, I set it up on the phone and it would not work correctly, so I logged in on the pc and went to settings and it gave me a code to type into the phone and it works now, but in the voicemail settings on the phone it still says my carrier but under call forwarding it has my gv number
I think I had to deactivate it then reactivate it

I previously used google voice with my inspire. Just seems that some people haven't had issues while some have. Just wondering why
was wondering about the GoogVoice issue as well. dude... i cannot freaking wait until we get this thing rooted. so many problems on the software side. it's pretty horrendous imo. there's quite a lot i'd like to tweak.

Yes, I've used Apex before. Nova (for me at least on the Inspire) just seemed to be smoother (and I had already paid for the prime version). I might give apex another shot on this phone.
There is a Google Voice thread on this forum. It worked for me. You have to log in on the computer and use a number. After that it works like a charm regardless of what the VM settings on the phone say.

Yeah I made a thread about the notification toggles. Its a pretty nice little app.

You can even put your most used apps in the drop down if you want.

Yeah it kind of stinks having to run another app but it is very customizable which is very nice. You can even make more than one toggle bar if you want to.

I just noticed that when I click on a phone number in Gmail it does not open the dialer. The phone number is recognized as such (hyperlinked) but it does not open the dialer. Tried long clicking the link but it just launches the text selector.
I tried texting a phone number to myself. When I click on the number in the text it launches correctly. Tried clean up data and cache for both the dealer and Gmail but no luck.
Att hox with CleanROM 4.5.
You can thank Apple for this. It's called HTC Linkify. What this means is, HTC had to implement a technology that would no longer link apps through each other for contacting people, like phone numbers and navigation, otherwise they couldn't sell their devices in the USA. So, Linkify was born to screw us all.
I just tested it on my phone with CleanROM 4.5. The feature works perfectly fine. The dialer opens correctly when I click on a number emailed to my gmail account.
Not sure why it doesn't work for you.

It doesn't work on any ROM. I don't even know if it worked when I was stock/unrooted..
Maybe AT&T did something when they upgraded my 3G to 4G LTE..?
MMS requires a data connection. Even when on wifi, it will engage your cellular data connection. If you disable mobile data they won't send or receive. Also check your APN settings, there are settings specific for the MMS routing.
Everything above the screen shot should be blank.
If that doesn't fix it, give AT&T a call.

Can't send to anyone, Can't receive from anyone.
Call AT&T, they can reset your phone....had to do this last night.
They will ask you to shut it off and then power it up, they will get it registered again on the mobile network.
Be sure to call technical support not customer support.
Good Luck!
Check within the Messaging app (or 3rd party messaging app, if you are using one) that the MMS size is set low enough. On ViperXL, mine had to be set to 300 kb in order to send a picture. I think AT&T's network limit is 600 kB. Custom ROMs sometimes have the limit set much higher, and a pic simply won't go if its set over AT&T's limit.
But this would only explain why pics can't be sent. They should still be received ok.
Hi !
It's kinda difficult for me to explain but it's fairly simple:
I have 2 android phones:
1. Phone "A" with number I use all day and carry it with me.
2. Phone "B" with number I use rarely and usually it stands on the shelf all day long.
I receieve calls, SMS and other things on phone "B" occasionally. Sometimes entire day passes until I see that I have missed call, SMS or other notification.
Is there an app that would notify me on phone "A" that I have some activity on phone "B" ?
Thanks in advance ! :good:
Im looking for a same aplication too for android. Can anyone give us a clue??
