Just as a starting point in this thread, I am very OCD about the things I use.
I recently purchased a Poetic Revolution, mainly for its looks, and its protection! The one downside is that the metal stand on the back of the case has a lot of give in its neutral position, and has an unmistakable sound of clacking metal and plastic together when moving the device or just holding it as there is no spring tension when the kickstand is closed. Other than that issue, the case is perfect and has survived a few large drops, but since I am very OCD about things like that, it removes how good the case is in my opinion. So I recently pre-ordered the Rhino Shield bundle with front+back and the bumper. I am hoping I won't have any issues with that case solution, if there is any other protective yet slim and stylish cases feel free to post a link or your review of them!

I just ordered a custom Toast wood skin for the back of the device, it may require some modding but I will post pics when everything is put together!
I use a modified Poetic Revolution case and this one is still my favourite case. It offers a better protection than that Rhino Shield Bumper. If you drop the phone, chances are higher that you damage the back.

Yeah thats what I thought, also what mods did you do to it?
I removed the screen protector and adjusted the case a little to remove the gap between the Frame and the display. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/accessories/mod-ultra-rugged-poetic-revolution-t3307492

Oh ok cool, I might want to do that as well!
And regarding the kickstand problem you have, you could use a thin metal piece + thin magnet to keep it in place. The gap inside the metal kickstand is about 1.4mm deep. Just glue a thin piece of metal inside ( something around 0.3mm ) and a thin magnet or magnet foil ( about 1mm thick ) on the other side. This will be enough to keep the kickstand in place when you´re not using it and prevent it from rattling.

I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can get one that's nice and thin. Got the one they had a T-Mobile and it adds so much thickness! !!! Leme know! Thanks

I've got the Incipio case on my Nexus One - it's a *really* thin silicone gel + a harder plastic-ish snap-on. It's similar to the Otterbox Commuter case, but much thinner.
Thanks man. Exactly the kind I want.

Yeah thanks for that, I've been wanting something exactly like this too.
I have the otterbox commuter, and it is too bulky, coupled with the smooth hard plastic shell it makes the phone hard to hold on to. Trouble is, I believe you need the extra hard plastic shell, so that the silicone protection at the edges of the screen don't easily pull away, like it does with just a bare silicon case.
Hopefully this one is better, will see when it arrives, I'm so sick of trying to find the perfect case for me.
how about boxwave or casemate? anyone use there stuff? i like the boxwave silicone gel cover. fixing to order that one. I have the bse on it now but i like a little bit more protection, if you know what i mean. i like the ultra feather plastic case though. i don't know how much protection it will give but it looks simple and clean.
I've got the Case-Mate Gelli Case Grey. I like the CM better then the Otterbox Commuter Case.

Ok well I got this Incipio silicylic hybrid case today, and I'm not that impressed.
It looks nice, and does give the extra support for the silicone down each side of the screen I was looking for. But they've totally cocked up the bottom of the case...
There is no real protection between the trackball and the USB port. The hard plastic is totally cut away there to the back of the phone, leaving a flimsy flap of silicone horizontally between the ball and port. Also the plastic and silicon is cut away right out past the dock port pins, leaving the phone body exposed to a straight down drop on its arse end due to this gaping cutout.
The plastic shell also has very sharp edges at that massive gaping cutout at the bottom too, so it needs dremmeling right out of the box.
If only they'r run a strip of plastic along that edge between trackball and usb port and not just silicone, none of this would be an issue, and it would have been my perfect case. Grrrr.
Do any of these cases allow the use of the desktop or car dock or do they block the pins/are too bulky?

Too bulky, the nexus dock only just fits the bare phone. In saying that, its not that the cases are that bulky (except maybe the otterbox ones), just that that the dock is a bit fussy about who it takes for a ride.

True, but I don't find it that bad, personally. I agree that plastic would have been nice, but since it snaps at the bottom, they would have had to entirely redesign the hard plastic shell.
I *did* have to dremel the headphone port just a bit to fit some of my speakers and headphones - the silicone flap still fits nicely, though, and if you have slender headphones, it probably won't be a problem.
Hey guys,
Just bought the Incipio Feather case and wanted to share my thoughts in case some people were thinking about buying.
The case is definitely very light weight and pretty thin (Incipio states that it is less than 1 mm thin). It's an "ultra light, ultra strong polymer" hard case that is smooth to the touch while having a slightly rubbery feel to it. The case itself has very clean edges with no trace of any manufacturing defects. There are cutouts for the power and volume buttons, hdmi port (it's covered in the pictures on their site, but there is indeed a cutout for this), usb port, camera, microphone, headphone jack, and speakerphone. With the exception of the battery, everything is easily accessible through these cutouts.
As for protection, this is where I've been disappointed. First off, the side of the case does not rise above the side of the phone, so when you put the phone face down, the screen will be touching the surface (they provide a screen protector, but I don't think that's enough). Secondly, the case does not completely wrap around the phone, so both the top and, more importantly, the bottom of the phone are exposed. The bottom is important because on a straight drop, the pointed part of the phone will take all of the impact because it protrudes beyond the corner parts of the case. The top isn't as bad because it's flatter, so the corner portions of the case will ideally take the impact. Granted, you aren't purchasing a "feather" or "barely there" case for its protective qualities, but I think that had Incipio manufactured the case to fully wrap around the phone, both the protection and aesthetics of the case would have been enhanced.
In regards to the aesthetics, I purchased the case to avoid the bulkiness of other cases so that I could enjoy the look of the phone. However, the cutouts and the fact that the case doesn't fully wrap around the phone cause the Feather case to "break" the smooth lines of the phone. I would definitely prefer the look of a case that fully wraps around the phone.
Overall, I would not purchase this case again. At $25, even with the screen protector and microfiber cloth, I think that a case like the Androidified case that I previously reviewed provides better value with more protection. With the TPU case, my phone experienced no damage after I accidentally dropped the phone while getting out of a car. I can't say that the Feather case would provide the same sort of protection.
Thanks for the review, this was my favorite case when I had my Atrix. I noticed it on the site the day it went up but did not buy it because an employee confirmed over live chat that there was no hdmi cutout. Now that I know it is there I am placing an order now. I just bought the otterbox and I like it but its just too much for me.
This is almost the same exact case as this:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=accessoryDetails&accessoryId=47557
But yours is probably a tiny bit thinner. And this one has a pull out stand which is awesome. They tried to sell this hardcore when i bought the phone, and I got it then.

The Incipio also doesn't have those rubber ridges. I had one of these cases on my Thunderbolt and I hated it because I keep my phone in my pocket. Went with a Case-Mate Barely There case which seems to be similar to the Incipio.
It reminds me of an ultra light 1 piece Seidio innocase. It has a similar feel but its lighter and thinner.
After using this case for a few days I have to agree. This case is not worth it at all. The feather used to be my choice but incipio did not do well with this one.
I'm really hoping case-mate jumps on it and makes a barely there case for the Charge.

Yeah same here. I went back to my Otterbox case but I just ordered the Trident Aegis today. I would rather have a thin light case but this feather is just plain terrible.
Why you going with Trident Aegis..instead of just using the Otterbox?
Just curious on your thoughts on the Otterbox..did you get the Trident? How is it?
The Otterbox is a good case but I am not too sold on having the buttons on the bottom covered. The Trident case shipped today and I will post pics and a review of the Aegis when it comes.
Hi everybody, this is my first post on these forums, although I have been reading them for over a year! Anyways, I was looking at buying a case for my Sensation that would keep it safe, but at the same time not adding to much bulk. I have narrowed it down to 4 cases, that I'm sure will all offer the level of protection I need, I am just wondering which one is the least bulky and slimmest.

I was looking at the Seidio with the kickstand, but I don't like all the exposed rubber as that would make it more lint-prone, and more difficult to get out of the pocket(one of my top pritorities).
Thanks in advance!!!

If it helps your decision I had one otterbox which I had to have replaced thru otterbox due to silicone stretches and the phone will actually slide up and down in the case. had the replacement for about a month and just took off the second one today due to complaints of me sounding muffled and any back to the old dependable tpu case even though it is a ***** to get out my pocket and attracts lint it is my fave

Yeah it was super easy due to the hard plastic that covered the silicone layer that is one thin I miss about it and am still on the fence about putting it back on. I will say my phone survived a few high drops ( I am a cable tech and it fell from a ladder about 18 feet to concrete with out a scratch)

Wow, you just made my decision harder.... !!! Haha thanks though, i'm sure i can't go wrong with either of these cases, but I just want to know which is the best.
OK, I'm pretty sure that the Tough Case and Vertex are out:
Tough Case: I saw that the rubber wraps around the screen on the phone, and can attach lint, also, it does seem a bit bulky.
Vertex: Lack of information is difficult. From the pics I don't think it'll work out for me.
Personally I use zagg skins now. They are seriously epic. I have always hated all phone cases because of the bulk they add no matter how thin. But the zagg skins are tough...real tough. And add essentially no weight/thickness to the device. When I got mine i was trying to scratch the back and screen to no avail. zagg also offers a lifetime warranty, but I have no idea what their limits are on it. Plus you can customize it with any picture you want.
Just my opinion. Good luck with your choice.
I have both Case Mate POP and Otterbox Commuter... otterbox has far better plastic because it cant get scratched at all. The case mate pop looks like it's 10 years old after a week. Still I user POP rather than the otterbox because the rubber on otterbox is like a MAGNET for all the dirt that is around you. I used to clean the rubber, and put it in my pocket, and when I get it out it's entirely covered with dust... I don't even know what were they thinking when they were making it. Another thing about the otterbox is that the earphone jack cover never fits like it is supposed to.
I ordered this a week ago because it looks funny
http://www.case-mate.com/HTC-Sensat...-Sensation-Sensation-SE-Tut-Silicone-Case.asp
I will order the case mate tough also... I hope that will be what I want at last
Wow, thanks for the info! So which one of those has a thinner/less bulky form factor, and is easier to get in/out of your pocket?
Case
I bought a Yoobao case off of Ebay, I love it. It is very tough and thin holds the phone tight.
Ehh, thanks for the info, but I already have a TPU and while it is nice and slim, I want something with a little more protection.
I'll put my two cents in, I just got the vertex and I'm very impressed. I've had the commuter and didn't like it. The plastic seemed cheap to me and was too slick. I also had a tpu case that was ok but I didn't think it would protect very well and made the power difficult to press. The vertex is quality, looks and feels very nice and fits great.

Hi, thanks for the input! Does the back material make it easy to get in & out of pockets easily? And also, is it thinner than your otterbox?

Haven't tried the Case Mates yet, nor the Seidio, BUT:
Naztech is a POS - crappy build, plain & simple.
Otterbox's silicone is too damn loose - quoting others here.
Just saying......
Well, I've been on these forums reading for about 5 months now, but this is my first post...
I've had the Casemate Tough Case for the same amount of time I've had my Sensation; about 5 months.
The tough case's hard backing makes it very easy to slip in and out of your pocket. The only exposed rubber is a small section at the top and bottom of the phone and a very thin rim around the screen, the rest is the hard plastic. I never notice that it's collecting lint\dirt, except when I remove the case, there is a small rim of dust collected under the rubber rim, but you can't see it until the case is off.
The exposed rubber parts always look clean and smooth, same goes for the hard plastic outer shell.
The farthest I've dropped my phone with the case on is off the bar... so maybe 4 feet or so? No damage to the phone or the case.
I haven't tried out any other smartphone cases, so I don't have a large frame of reference, but I haven't had a single issue with the tough case. Hope this helps!

Have you actually tried the naztech case? I'm sitting here right now literally starting at it trying to find a problem with something and I can't. I can't compare it with the tough case but its better than the otter.
Like I said before, and I don't know if this even matters, the naztech has cut outs for all the holes on the back cover, none of the other two piece cases have that feature.
As far as the plastic, the naztech has a rubberized back which makes it easier to hold than the otter but still slides into a my pocket easy.
i think you guys should check momax case....

Highly recommended.

I've actually been rocking my Verus Iron Shield without the metal frame for about a week... I really like it that way. It's quite a bit less bulky and kind of seems like the Samsung Protective Cover, but it's quite a bit more protective and I think that the TPU that Verus used feels better. I actually printed up some "carbon fiber patterned" strips on adhesive vinyl decal paper to wrap around the bezel (of the case). I think it looks and feels super nice that way

Spigen does not have any place on this list. Their cases have a horrible design around the heart rate monitor that makes it practically useless. Replace Spigen with UAG and you have a pretty good list.

Which case(s) is best is completely subjective as it's based on how much protection you want vs. how much bulk you're comfortable with & which features you want.
For me I must have maximum protection, a kickstand, covered rocker switches, USB & headphone dust covers & a belt clip holster. The Otterbox Defender has all those features & IMO is a very well designed & high quality piece. You just need to remove the plastic screen protector & use something else.
After using the Defender for several months my phone edges/corners are not scratched as reported on this forum by several other users.
Hi,

I'm afraid not. This one was my first choice, but one of the reviewers says that you can feel the camera glass hit the surface you put the phone on.
I know you said bumper and not case. but I got this Spigen Neo-Hybrid case for the same reason, and it's pretty small and does a nice job of keeping both the screen and the camera glass away from whatever surface you place the phone on.
https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Flexible-Protection-Reinforced-Samsung/dp/B00MAWRB44
I also vote for the spigen neo, I have the metal version but the plastic is the exact same, and I can confirm the camera does not touch the surface. It's the only case i've ever used for more than a couple months. i've had both the phone and case since new.
I'm using the Verus Iron Shield case with a Spigen metal stick on kickstand attached. The Verus case protects front screen nicely and the Spigen kickstand, when mounted in the center, makes it impossible for camera lens to make contact on a flat surface.
