Hi all,
Suddenly my default font is missing after change theme and can not be restored. The font is bigger than what it should.
Could anyone pls help me?
Thanks in advance
Funny, I have no font menu item at all in the settings (EU L29 B152)... and can't even change it through the theme manager...
Did you install any theme?
Themes (especially Chinese ones) might corrupt the font faces used in the interface...

That happened to me when I tried a theme that changed the font. I don't remember what I did to fix it but after an hour trying to figure it out I remember the fix was so easy I called myself an idiot. If I remember what I did to fix it I'll let you know.

I indeed wasn't able to restore the default font after I installed this bad theme: Edward Returns
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65618373&postcount=4
It replaces the default UI font with a silly DroidSansChinese.ttf font which hasn't all the accented letters there are in the Italian language...
No way to correct the problem installing any Huawei original theme, because those themes don't install any font at all!!!
So the only way I found was to modify the same previously installed dark theme replacing inside the .hwt compressed theme file the font "DroidSansChinese.ttf" with a Roboto-Medium.ttf font file renaming the Roboto file as the original "DroidSansChinese.ttf"...
Then I reinstalled the bad dark theme and I got all the Mate 8 user interface in an acceptable Roboto-Medium font face, however unfortunately things are not exactly the same as before...
Finally I reinstalled an original Huawei theme.
If someone found a better solution to restore the original Huawei font in an unrooted Mate 8 this will be much appreciated...
Thanks!

In the 183 themes, there are also two kinds of edward returns, I tried the v3.0.7. The font didnt change. Now if I want to change the theme, I rather check the container first. Does it contain fonts or not. If it does I prefer not to use/try it. Bad experienced.. hahaha..
I think I tried to change from the standard style and simple style and it works to restore the font.. maybe... I dont really remember.. but hesitate to try it again..
Your suggestion was very interesting, so I tried it..
But after switching to simple and then back to standard I found the same font face as I had before.
In my case I had previously applied a modified theme to restore the Helvetica font, so it's possible that other people might benefit from this method.
BTW, the bad theme was Edward Returns 1
I found a theme with acceptable font included
HI,
My Mate 8 (International version) default font changed too after applying a theme containing a Chinese font so after a day of search in several themes I found this theme that have a close to default font u can try it unless u want to root or factory reset you phone
Flat Emui theme :
http://goo.gl/BFc1eN
I hope this will help as the theme has many Emui versions with the last one working for me
There is a default font theme on the color of android M thread that can restore the font to the default.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/themes-apps/mate-8-marshmallow-coloured-theme-emui-t3420178
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.olabs.theme.fontreset
This did the job for me.

Can someone tell me how to edit the main font style for a theme? I searched for a while but all I see is changing font color or fonts for specific widgets. I want to change the default font for the theme/rom. Is it an xml edit or what?

download typefresh from the market.. and u have to download andexplorer as well.. the system font you'll want to change is DroidSans.. i find typefresh to be the easiest way to change fonts quickly..
also, this should have been in the Q&A forum..

Well I'm building a theme and wanted to know where/what to edit on the front end so that people who flash my theme dont have to change the font. Thats why I put it in the themes section. I didnt know if there was a .xml file that told the ROM which font to use. If all I need to do is rename the font I want to use as "DroidSans" and then place it in the fonts folder that's fine, but I wasnt sure. Thanks for your tip though I didnt know about typefresh.

Thanks for the link. I will check that out. JAguirre1231 gave me this info which seems pretty easy.
Replace the fonts in /system/font
DroidSans.ttf & DroidSans-Bold.ttf for most fonts.
Clockopia.ttf for the clock font on the lockscreen.

yep just rename your prefered font to the fonts your listed above and replace them in the system.fonts folder. Some fonts dont play nice with android so its a test thing but most of the ones I have tried from my win7 box work fine.
Hi i have used absolute system to change my font on my x10 and most of the fonts are a little blurry and unclear with some woerds, can anyone tell me how i restore it and put the system and other fonts back to normal please ? i have tried uninstalling and googling it but cant seem to find a solution
plz
helpl !!!
The default font for the x10 is droidsans i believe...
Install the app called Fontchanger from the market and add the droidsans font file in the fonts folder for Fontchanger... and then apply the font...
Reboot and you shall see your font applied.
P.S: I believe this is the wrong section for this topic. This should be in the Q&A section. Blasphemy!
thanks for replying, i will give that a go now and sorry about posting in wrong area

Hey guys I was looking for some advice on changing the system font on my Google Pixel. I rooted the phone yesterday and I'm happy with the default ROM and Google launcher. With previous phones I've used iFont but with the Pixel I get an "error 7" when trying to set a new font.
I'm pretty sure you can change fonts with substratum.

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded that app but don't see any options for fonts. Is it something you've used before?

I haven't messed with it but I know it's capable of changing fonts. I think it requires a compatible rom so stock rooted might not cut it. You'll have to dig around to find out more about substratum. I'm sure there's lots of info out there.

Try this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel/themes/flashable-fonts-t3556252
Also, here are a lot of fonts. You can't use the zip they are in though. You'll have to use a Pixel compatible zip.

Thanks for the reply. I've had a look through that forum. The font I want to use I don't have all the different types for (bold, italic etc. Can I just copy my font multiple times, rename it to all those file names, flash it and have the same font universally around my phone?

I downloaded the Font_Soma_Bold_Taller_v1 file from the first link. It said just to replace the fonts inside with your own and flash. It's under the Pixel sub forum so I guess it's one that would work. My question was just if I only have one type of the font can I copy the same one over Italic, bold etc and just have the same font universally all over the phone?
Also would I rename my font to roboto-black.ttf, RobotoCondensed-regular.ttf etc?

In theory, you can do that. Of course make a backup of your original fonts. I'm not sure how short you are of the correct fonts.
Hello guys,
I enabled my font using fastboot command then copied the fonts to hwtheme folder and everything works fine.
My issue is that when I apply the new fonts, my zooper widgets all lose their custom fonts and adopt the new one breaking the aesthetics and even the icons.
The attached picture depicts my problem. The first image is while using the default font while the second is when I apply a custom font.
Any suggestions please?
Thank you.

No, just reverted to stock font
Hi everyone,
I have tried a few different ROMs (LineageOS, EvolutionX, ProtonAOSP) on my Pixel 2, and each one makes the lockscreen clock fat, unlike stock Android 11. I am attaching screenshots of what it looked like before and what it looks like now. I've already tried my hand at SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk to no avail. Thanks in advance
Anyone?

Look in system fonts folder. I don't know which font does you lock screen that you have to edit or swap and rename from another font
you need to set default font as Google sans in fonts.xml under /system/etc/fonts.xml
