[Q] System font question - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Can someone tell me how to edit the main font style for a theme? I searched for a while but all I see is changing font color or fonts for specific widgets. I want to change the default font for the theme/rom. Is it an xml edit or what?

download typefresh from the market.. and u have to download andexplorer as well.. the system font you'll want to change is DroidSans.. i find typefresh to be the easiest way to change fonts quickly..
also, this should have been in the Q&A forum..

Well I'm building a theme and wanted to know where/what to edit on the front end so that people who flash my theme dont have to change the font. Thats why I put it in the themes section. I didnt know if there was a .xml file that told the ROM which font to use. If all I need to do is rename the font I want to use as "DroidSans" and then place it in the fonts folder that's fine, but I wasnt sure. Thanks for your tip though I didnt know about typefresh.

idk is this would help but here you go

Thanks for the link. I will check that out. JAguirre1231 gave me this info which seems pretty easy.
Replace the fonts in /system/font
DroidSans.ttf & DroidSans-Bold.ttf for most fonts.
Clockopia.ttf for the clock font on the lockscreen.

yep just rename your prefered font to the fonts your listed above and replace them in the system.fonts folder. Some fonts dont play nice with android so its a test thing but most of the ones I have tried from my win7 box work fine.

Restoredefault font to X10

Hi i have used absolute system to change my font on my x10 and most of the fonts are a little blurry and unclear with some woerds, can anyone tell me how i restore it and put the system and other fonts back to normal please ? i have tried uninstalling and googling it but cant seem to find a solution
plz
helpl !!!
The default font for the x10 is droidsans i believe...
Install the app called Fontchanger from the market and add the droidsans font file in the fonts folder for Fontchanger... and then apply the font...
Reboot and you shall see your font applied.
P.S: I believe this is the wrong section for this topic. This should be in the Q&A section. Blasphemy!
thanks for replying, i will give that a go now and sorry about posting in wrong area

This replaces a lot more than just font. Your whole theme will change(framework-res & SystemUI.apk).

This thread is unbelievable, why can't people just goto the uot kitchen and do this themselves.
If you try you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is and how much more you can actually theme your phone to exactly how you want it!

No it does not change framework-res and systemUI, when you change fonts and/or boot animation you don't even have to upload those files to the kitchen, it does not change them! Try watching the you tube help video on their site

Download one of these packs and you'll see that they are included (the size is a dead giveaway, then the apps are there if you extract)
They don't need to be, but they are...
Don't need youtube vids to see that anyway, I theme manually

Then the OP has included them when they are not needed.
Anyone can goto the kitchen and change fonts without having to upload those files.
If these files DO change them (And i do believe you, I havent downloaded them yet) then the OP needs to change the attachments to font files that dont change them.
Thanks for pointing out that these do change framework, People need to know that before they flash them, I was just pointing out that changing fonts (Or bootanimation) shouldnt change framework or systemUI if it is done properly
fonts
thanks, these look alot better then stock

I haven't added the power menu toggle. I have only modified fonts on the online kitchen,,, I thought it wud be helpful to have it in a thread rather than going to the online kitchen everytime and others can also access them..

Then you need to do like 10assaye said and watch the videos on the UOT site. You don't have to upload anything to change fonts. You can make a zip with only the fonts. The zips you made are mostly unnecessary. They are 5mb when they could be 200kb. Plus they will change the theme back to stock for custom theme users. And then there's a 7mb one that either contains an insanely large font or is a more modified framework...
I understand what you are trying to do and it is appreciated but you need to understand what you are actually doing.
thanks, these look very nice ...
i just use the font changer app from the market (root needed)and get all my fonts from http://www.webpagepublicity.com/free-fonts.html
tons of fonts
im using bank gothic md at the moment (the Black Ops font)

Cm9 fonts

Why all the cm9 "addicts" ignore the question: how to change fonts in cm9??
Install Rom Toolbox or Type Face or any other font changer app you find in the market.
if you want to go hard way, those fonts are under /system/fonts. You can delete one of the fonts (e.g. Roboto or DroidSansFallback) and put your desired font there, then rename the font as exactly as the font you deleted. (don't forget to backup).
All the market apps soft brick the phone they dnt support ics. The problem with system fonts is that there are plenty of fonts in that folder and among them is roboto. Question is, how does system know which font you want to set as default...

Replace it with font of choice, but change filename to match Roboto, etc.

The phone keeps bootlooping if you use those apps and even the dev of the app warns you that it does not work on ivs devices. Is it too hard not to post stuff you have not applied yourself on your phone?
If you just keep bashing those who try to help you, you're going to get nowhere in life.

How can I change the font of the clock on the lockscreen?

So I found a theme on the theme store and fell in love with it. Everything is great until I turn the screen off and back on and see the font of the clock. It's absolutely hideous. How can I change it while still using the rest of the theme?
Sorry, this should be in the troubleshooting section...

Go into data/app, find your theme files. Remove the one that ends in lock-1. The only thing is you will probably lose the toggles as they are themed too.

Thanks dude. I didn't want to lose anything but the clock so I just replaced the clock qmg files with qmgs from another theme and it worked

Hi @joshua.b could you tell me how to change the lockscreen font on andorid 6.0.1 marshammlow. I am using CM13 on Bacon. Using a font that came with one of the themes but I would want to have the lockscreen as a different font. Thanks

Hmm, this was a while ago and I can't remember clearly. I think I went into data/app and copied qmg files from the lockscreen folder from a theme with a good lockscreen font and then pasted them to the theme folder I wanted to change. That's the most I remember. I hope you figure it out.

Changing Pixel font.

Hey guys I was looking for some advice on changing the system font on my Google Pixel. I rooted the phone yesterday and I'm happy with the default ROM and Google launcher. With previous phones I've used iFont but with the Pixel I get an "error 7" when trying to set a new font.
I'm pretty sure you can change fonts with substratum.

I haven't messed with it but I know it's capable of changing fonts. I think it requires a compatible rom so stock rooted might not cut it. You'll have to dig around to find out more about substratum. I'm sure there's lots of info out there.

Also, here are a lot of fonts. You can't use the zip they are in though. You'll have to use a Pixel compatible zip.

Thanks for the reply. I've had a look through that forum. The font I want to use I don't have all the different types for (bold, italic etc. Can I just copy my font multiple times, rename it to all those file names, flash it and have the same font universally around my phone?

I downloaded the Font_Soma_Bold_Taller_v1 file from the first link. It said just to replace the fonts inside with your own and flash. It's under the Pixel sub forum so I guess it's one that would work. My question was just if I only have one type of the font can I copy the same one over Italic, bold etc and just have the same font universally all over the phone?
Also would I rename my font to roboto-black.ttf, RobotoCondensed-regular.ttf etc?

In theory, you can do that. Of course make a backup of your original fonts. I'm not sure how short you are of the correct fonts.
