Hi All
Does anyone have a way of fixing the fingerprint sensor?
I had registered all slots with different fingers, and while it used to be 80-90% reliable, it soon dropped down to 10-20%. I'm not the only one, as Linus from Linus Tech Tips mentioned on The Wan Show that he had also had varying results.
It used to buzz 5 times before saying I had to use the pin. It would buzz with the quickest of power ons, even without touching the power button.
In the end I removed several fingers, still no joy, removed all finger prints, and now I can't even set it up as "Something went wrong", without me even touching the button.
If I go into service mode it says the fingerprint is not OK, until I power off and on the screen, then it says OK.

All you can do is a software repair with pc companion if this doesn't help it means a hardware issue.

You can try a software repair, but I doubt it would be effective. I think it is a software issue, but a firmware one, many users here and other forums have complained about inconsistent response of sensor.
My experience is it worked really well for about a day, then quickly got very inconsistent and often times really poor. Some users say registering the same finger in more slots will help.
With the advice of another user here a week or two ago (can't remember the name do a search for my user name and fingerprint sensor) I re-registered all five fingers I had previously entered taking great care to register each finger in all kinds of different angles and directions. That seemed to work wonders, but alas again only lasted less than two days before regressing badly. It is now a little better than before but still inconsistent and at times very unreliable.

Btw if I do ...Diagnostics/Test/Fingerprint sensor it works sometimes, sometimes not. Right now it worked 3-4 times out of 10, i.e. it either works immediately and on more fingers or doesn't work at all. Similar results when I have tried a couple of times in the past.

I suspected as much. I have done the Pc companion repair and factory resets on the phone, but I'm still unable to even setup fingerprint now.
I will wait to see if MM does anything, and arrange for a replacement if it's still an issue.
Not bad going for a device just over a month old. Glad I didn't unlock the bootloader.

Taking a screenshot with the built-in function, I get everything correctly
(Actually, quite difficult to unlock the pattern when can't see anything)
The phone is rooted, TWRP 2.7.1.1 installed, Stock ROM, KitKat 4.4.4
Could be co-incident, but the problems started short after installing KitKat 4.4.4
When updating to 4.4.4, I only flashed Radio, System and Boot.
I didn't flash Cache and Bootloader (basically because Bootloader same as previous).
Is the problem related to not flashing cache and bootloader or a hardware problem of the glass?
Sometimes, if I don't touch the mobile, the screen returns to normal, but now, even when I boot to the bootloader, I still have the "HBO Screen"
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers
Tom
I love the fact you've called it the HBO Screen. Real Imaginative!
However, unfortunately, it's a hardware issue. The screen or the Flex cable have gone bad and it/they needs to be replaced.
You were right, it was the cable.
Went to LG service partner and 30 minutes later it was fixed.
Cheers

Woah! That was quick
First went to LG, they told me they have to send to their service partner, can't fix the same day
Luckily only a 20 minute drive so I went there personally.
Cheers

I always get this after boot for about a half second I think while it runs the color gamma code. It's my favorite part of the bootup I wish it lasted longer. How can I get your feature OP???

I love doing that to UPS. Oh, you just got a package in from Washington that's for me but you're going to let it sit in the warehouse for 4 days because I didn't pay for 3 day shipping???

Just play a little bit with your internal flex cable (I mean mobile ) then you have it random and longer
However, it can be pretty annoying when u turn on the screen and have this TV noise copy

Received the phone yesterday afternoon and everything was great for the first three hours. After updating to the latest version and reinstalling apps from Play, the screen flickered and started ghosting a line of pixels stretched vertically over the bottom third of the screen (images and video below). It doesn't appears to be a hardware issue as the ghosting moves with animations, but it does appear during boot as well. I've factory reset without any difference, and have flashed the current firmware images (cm-11.0-XNPH33R-bacon-signed-fastboot) without any luck.

Any ideas?
EDIT: I didn't have my brightness all the way up; the issue persists during transistions.
Sorry about that, you can try RMA. If it's also in Fastboot mode, you have two options: a) Write OnePlusOne and ask for repair(tooks long!!) b) Buy another phone.
You should try a custom kernel. As the stock kernel for 33r doesn't have the display commits that custom kernels have. I recommend Franco kernel. If the problem persists, then I'm afraid you'll have to RMA.
It is surely hardware.

mine too.....
Got mine 5 days ago and was in the middle of a game last night and the exact same thing is happening..... I put in a request for an RMA already but the whole process takes about a month from what i have read.... Didn't see a similar issue in a search of their forums but it is interesting that our phones came from the same batch likely and have the same issue....grrr

So I am debating filing a paypal claim. Reading the reports of the RMA process on their forum I am wondering if I will get a functioning device within the paypal buyer's protection timeframe. After several emails and pointless software fix attempts back and forth I finally got their support person to say they would forward me to an RMA specialist... but who knows how long that will take and given time frames I think it is very likely the 45 days will run out on 10/5/14 before I receive a replacement device. Any luck on your end?
Hello everyone!
I seem to have a big problem with my phone that I cannot figure out. I'm fairly good with phones and very good with PC, but this problem eludes me.
My Huawei H866C was working just fine yesterday until boom, system freeze. This happened numerous times and most of the time, all I was doing was looking around in the settings etc. My first gut reaction was to factory reset it.
So I did.
When it was done, the phone rebooted like it should, and there I found the "tutorial" screen.
I tap the green android and it proceeds to the next screen which has only one button labeled "Begin"
When I press begin, it immediately throws this error; The application SetupWizardEx (process com.huawei.setupwizardex) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Well, needless to say, I've many dozens of times with no success.
I recall a similar incident with my sisters motorola droid bionic, in which after a reset the phone wanted some carrier info before it would load the home screen and let you use the phone. With that incident, I was able to bypass it by touching all 4 corners of the touchscreen. I can't find anything like that to bypass this tutorial nonsense.
I know that the phone isn't bricked, because I never rooted it. Furthermore, I can still bring up swype keyboard settings by holding the menu softkey. From there, I can click a web link in swype help and open the browser with no wifi connectivity. I can go through browser settings, and swype settings. When I first turn the phone back on, I can even use the slide-down menu briefly before it takes away my access.
I was really starting to like this phone until now.
Is there any way to bypass this annoying tutorial so I can use the phone? Otherwise, I'm afraid my money was wasted.
I have included some fairly low quality pictures to try and illustrate my problem.
ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Well admins, you may as well delete this thread. It's helped no one, including myself. I'm just going to return the phone and get my money back..

And that's exactly what I did. My best advice? STAY AWAY FROM TRACFONE/NET10/Straight Talk at ALL costs! Sure, they give you cheap unlimited everything, but the phones are pure garbage. :good:

So here's a weird one all!
All of a sudden my pattern lock which has been I'm effect changes back to swipe to unlock without me touching it.
I do have a new Bluetooth device and I thought I might have selected this to unlock my device when near but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Effectively I can come backto my device after a while and my pattern lock is no longer in affect and is I stead replaced with swipe to unlock.
Has anyone ever had this?

Maybe you have some settings turned on - under lock screen/smart lock. Try turning off all the smart lock functions there, maybe it will solve the problem.

nope, it's all turned off and it's just happened again

I know it's painful, but try doing a factory reset and check if it happens then. If it does, I'd send it for repairs to LG.
Thanks for the response, but I really don't think that's a fix. I'm still guessing this is something to do with Smart Lock, but I'm not sure where else to look as I thought this was turned off (and it shows as off) in the settings.
It would be worth noting that I'd already done a factory reset recently.....there is no evidence that this would rectify the issue...I believe it might be app/setting related.
Anyone any ideas?
Right it's definitely not a bluetooth device as I turned bluetooth off and it just did it again!

Does this happen in the same location each time? eg. at home
or has this happened in multiple places?
I'm just thinking it might be that you yourself or google have set a home location and that somehow the smart lock settings are picking that up and unlocking for you.
I've had this phone since launch day and I've never come accross this happening before.
You're rooted? If you have a bit of time and you're rooted, you can do a full titanium backup, reset and check if it's still happening. If it does, it's not app related, just your phone being weird and most probably in need of a reflash : D
If smart lock's disabled, it shouldn't do that, regardless if he had set a home location or not.
One more thing, if you can and you're willing, give us a list of apps you've got installed. I'm no expert, but I'm sure we can find a solution if we brainstorm hard enough.
Thanks for the responses guys.
This has happened in multiple locations for a start. Rather strange I grant you.
I am rooted and I could do a test but either way I'd like to know what had actually caused this...
As for apps... See attached. Nothing brand new though that I recall.

Sorry mate, no idea The only thing that comes to mind is that android wear software, but I assume that's the bluetooth device you mentioned.
Hello everyone. It's been a minute since I've posted anything on this site. In January this year I decided to upgrade from my aging Blackberry Priv to one of these phones. I've been using it without any issues until early this morning when I tried to look at my notifications and the screen wouldn't light up. It was working fine all throughout the day, and I don't recall the battery being below 50%. It is unresponsive when I plug it into the wall adapter or my PC, however the PC seems to pick it up as a device called "QUSB__BULK."
The phone is running stock Android, and I only charge it with the wall adapter it came with and occasionally my PC. I only have a few social media and email apps on it. I had the Open Camera app on it, and I'm a little sus of it since there have been times where I would wake the phone up and the camera would just randomly open. It seems like it would bog the phone down a bit when this would happen. I installed the app because I didn't like the way the stock app processed audio while recording videos. The app gave me the ability to record raw audio which worked fine aside from slightly lower volume.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could have caused this?

Figured I'd bump this for an update. I contacted the company shortly after I made this post about the phone. The phone was covered under warranty, and they told me to ship it to them for repairs. I shipped it in June and have contacted them a few times since. I'm suspecting that there was some kind of defect in the motherboard since I'm apparently not the only one who has had this issue. I found a post on another forum dating back to last year from someone with the same experience as me where their phone just randomly said "ight, Imma head out." It's been quite a while since I sent it off, which adds to my suspicion that it was a board issue given the whole chip shortage we're going through. I'll update this post if anything comes up in the future. I miss that phone. Been using an iPhone since I sent it off. It's okay I guess, but man do I miss that keyboard.
Update on the phone - I was contacted by F(X) Tec about four days ago. My phone has been repaired and shipped to the US. I should be getting it back by Wednesday. They did not specify what actually caused the issue with it. Hopefully, once I get it back it won't have any further issues.
