I have a private detective business and we have decided to communicate through secure communication devices. So i was looking on the internet and i have found a lot of Blackberry "secure" phones, but the prices are insane for a 6 person business. They want 1500USD per 6 months per phone. That means 18000USD per year.
I have a lot of tech knowledge incl. XDA experience so i was wondering if it is possible to create my own secure blackberry devices with BES12. Or is there an existing ROM which i can upload to a specific BB?
Hope someone can point me to the right way.

I recently posted a thread on how I can start programming geared towards the mobile platforms.
I would like to develop apps for more than one mobile platform. However I just have access to an Android device (SE Xperia X10), iPhone 4, and an iPad 2.
Smartphones are not like candies, that you can go pickup at a cheap store.
I mean how and where can I and other people who want to develop apps for specific platforms get free phones for testing and using the apps we develop?
The emulator that is included with the SDKs are not always the best way to test.
Any suggestions? All help is appreciated
EDIT: Forgot to mention that recently Windows Phone called over WebOS developers to develop applications on the WP platform, and Windows gave the developers free devices. But there are not many WebOS devs out there..
The best and fastest way to require a "demo" phone is doing the following.
Just get in touch with the companies that are creating the phones.
Explain your development and give them a nice overview on what your app is, what it does and how things go.
Make sure you don't demand a phone but wish to test run it on certain specific devices with key features that are a "+" in your app.
I think you'll have a chance to receive a demo phone.
Btw don't expect you'll be able to keep that phone forever.
I recently contacted HP to request an Elite-book from them for business usage.
Explained the plans and deals and after a few days i received one.
I need to return it by end of this year.(aawww )
Did same thing for some phones for my company
I think it depends on what you wanna test and how high your requirements are.
Also i think it's best to mail on behalf of someone working in the industry or on behalf of a company.
They had my company info in case of argument.
Sites like XDA got enough rep to request them and be trusted.
Individual guy asking for a phone is "50/50" chance. (depends on the person processing your mail and your info & app your working on)

I'm currently evaluating some mobile device management solutions and had a few questions for the wise xda forum goers. I realize that this is primarily a device hacking/development community, but I assumed that surely some people here have some experience with this as an end-user or otherwise.
First and foremost, what recommendations can you guys provide for solutions? I've evaluated six or seven vendors, but I'm leaning toward AirWatch, Good Technologies and BoxTone. I'd really like something with a perpetual license scheme due to the way my organization's finances work. I also want something that won't frustrate my end users, has broad device support and provides security and app distribution functionality.
Does anybody have any test device recommendations? I'm thinking of using an iPod Touch and Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0. I'd imagine you developers could chime in on this. I don't need to test any mobile network functionality with these, just different interactions with the OS and apps. I'm pretty set on the iPod Touch, but I also need an Android test device similar to the iPod Touch and preferably under $300.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. I've got a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for, but I was hoping to get some real world insight aside from the vendor references.
P.S.: It's scary what MDM can do. For anybody considering this at their organization, administrative buy-in is key, and make sure you use this power responsibly.

Mobile Device Management
The mobile phones which were only a calling device earlier have now become a smart business tool. As mobility is increasing it brings with it ample benefits, however at the same time it creates number of new challenges in terms of usage and the data stored on them.
We do a lot of Broadcast Media work including network & cable television, Digital Media and "Big Data" work. We need to add another Manual QA / Software Tester/Analyst to our existing team at ESPN. Ideally we'd like someone who has tested native & web apps on Android platform and has UI testing experience. This group will work heavily with the interactive television teams (Google TV, etc.) and will be responsible for the full QA life cycle within an Agile/Scrum environment. Any experience with “second screen” or social tv would be a plus. 6-12 mos contract. Must be US CITIZEN, GREEN CARD HOLDER or have already have EAD in hand. W2 only. No C2C or 3rd parties.
Wondering if you'd be interested in something like this? If not, please keep in mind that we always pay a referral fees... $1,000 each time we successfully place someone who's been referred to us.
Get back to me right away if you're interested. I'll share more details when we speak. Thanks.

We get numerous requests from companies looking to hire bright engineers and developers, and XDA has thousands of people of this caliber. With unemployment at record highs all across the world, we thought we'd do our part by connecting firms that are hiring, with people that might be interested in work.
Are these paid jobs?
Yes, all jobs are salaried positions.
How do I get my job posted here?
Email [email protected] from your corporate email address. Provide the job posting and location in a format similar to other listings in the forum. We will do our best to verify the validity of the job.
Please note: We provide this job board as a free service, and will not be involved in any of the hiring process.

All -
First off I love xda and everyone on here has been so helpful.
Friday my company told me that I was being laid off, but I was offered a contract position handling deployment for Android and ios phones and tablets and sometimes computers. I would like to take the contract position since I have no other choice, but I need help understanding how to mass deploy things like Gmail account to each device and if the customer wants a specific or custom apk on the device how to do it all at once.
So I basically get an order from our client asking for us to configure anywhere from 10 to 1000 devices that needs to be exactly the same. Instead of doing this one by one I would like to learn how to configure all the phones at once if possible. I am willing to pay for the help although I don't have much money I will do what I can to pay you the fair amount.
Any help is appreciated.

My company is renewing our cellphone plan (Canada - Rogers). Why that provider because they are offering the best deal.
My question is what smartphone on the market now should I get. I was considering the blackberry Keyone as it is a productivity powerhouse. But the terms in Canada mean I would be stuck with that phone for 3 years.
My fear is that the slow processor will be outdated in 2 years, meaning I'd be stuck with a slow and less productive phone.
I am a construction project manager and use my cellphone for everything when I'm not in the office. Ie. Emails, phone calls, reviewing attachments (drawings or otherwise), the odd time drafting word or basic excel documents.
I am interested in everyone's take if they were given the opportunity.
Thank you everyone for your time in responding.
