6.0.1 bug? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys, i flashed stock XEF MM on my S6 couple days ago, and since then i notice that sometimes when you wake your phone up the screen lights up slowly and gets you to the lock screen, i though it maybe an animation, but now i noticed something, i have the finger print scanner lock. when i press the home button and keep my finger on the home button after it opens sometimes it locks the phone and turn the screen off, this happened to me couple of times right now....anyone noticed that??

Its a feature in MM ... When proximity sensors its blocked you cannot unlock the phone. This feature is to block "unlocking" while your phone is in the pocked ... I think you are having problem with proximity sensor ...

it wasn't blocked but the room lights are turned off, maybe that's why....but still it opens the phone and goes to the home screen and half a second after that it locks it again
EDIT: as it turned out it was the sensor, i tried to block it with my finger and it kept locking the phone, the reason the phone was getting to the home screen is that the finger print sensor works very fast, it's faster than the sensor, so it unlocks and then the sensor locks the phone....THANKS

Proximity Sensor Issue!

Hello guys!
I've just got my repaired HTC Desire 500 from the service center after having yellow line along the screen and usb sync. failure. They said they replaced the entire motherboard and the screen.
Everything worked just fine until I experienced some weird proximity sensor issues. As an HTC user, I use the Gravity Screen app in order to wake the screen through the proximity and gravity sensor to save the power button from prolonged use.
I realized the proximity sensor is not working with the app. And the sensor works 8 out of 10 times when having a phone call, the other 2 times the screen doesn't wake when moving the phone away from my ear.
I tried testing the sensor via the built-in function test, it "most of the time" fails the test. On the other hand, it works okay with phone calls!
The sensor sometimes work, sometimes hang and sometimes never works!
I tried factory reset and wiping cache partition and sensor works okay at the beginning then starts acting weird.
Please help me with your useful feedback because it's truly frustrating!

Touch screen doesn't work when device woken up (Intermittent)

I've got an intermittent problem - sometimes when I wake the phone up, the touch screen doesn't work. It happens when I wake it up with the power button, when someone calls, or when an alarm wakes up the screen. That means when the problem happens, I can't answer the call, or turn off the alarm (sometimes locking the screen and waking it up immediately works).
It doesn't seem to be affected by whether or not the phone is or has been charging, whether it's been in my pocket or the temperature of the device. I've not been able to discern a pattern at all. Once the phone is unlocked and the touchscreen is working though, it works perfectly. The problem never returns while I'm using it, only if I lock it, and only sometimes.
If I leave the screen on while touch is unresponsive, I can tell when it is responsive to touch again by a line that quickly flashes along the top edge of the screen. At that point, the screen operates entirely normally.
In what may be a related item, when I'm on a call, sometimes the proximity sensor doesn't work properly and the screen turns back on and starts working. I get off the call and find my phone in a different app.
Does the Nexus 5 use the proximity sensor while the screen is off as a way to weed out unintended touches while the phone is in a pocket?
I'm going to try and store it face up over the next couple of weeks and see if the problem continues, but I was hoping that someone might have some insight.
About the phone:
I cracked the screen over the summer and had it replaced, but I didn't have any issues with it at all until I installed Lollipop. 5.0.1 hasn't made a difference

[Q] Proximity sensor troubles, can it be disabled?

Lately, my proximity sensor has been giving me trouble - at least, I think it's the proximity sensor. The symptoms:
1) I can't unlock the phone unless there is enough ambient light. Generally not a problem, but a little inconvenient.
2) As soon as I start a call, the screen goes black and will not turn back on no matter what, making it impossible to bring up the dialpad or hang up. I've enabled the "power button to hang up" setting, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. The only way to end a call is to wait for the other side to hang up or remove the battery. The former is fine if I'm actually talking to a person, but if I get into an auto-attendant tree I'm screwed. It happens regardless of whether I'm holding the phone to my face or not. Flat on a table, same behavior.
The phone is rooted, are there any apps or things I can do to verify that it's the proximity sensor? Is there any way to just disable the proximity sensor in software?
Use the hidden menu (3845#*850#) and go into device test.
There is a proximity sensor test there. As you move your hand near the sensor it wall say near and as you move it away it will give you a light reading.
Thanks - the top always says "Proximity: NEAR". The bottom one says "Light: off" If I wave my hand hear the sensor, it turns blue and give me a reading hovering around 10. Closer to the phone and it's red and gives me a lower reading. Holding my finger on the phone, completely blocking the sensor, gives me the "Light: off" reading again.
I'm not quite sure what to make of that.
I've had similar problems with my international version G3. Both times I have had to take off the back cover, remove the various screws around the top half of the phone, pull off the plastic casing, and then use compressed air to spray out the area around the proximity sensor. After this the phone works fine for a month or so.
Somehow dust seems to be getting into the phone quite easily. I'm wondering if the area around the speaker grill is not fully sealed.
I finally took the time to disassemble my phone and sure enough, the proximity sensor was filthy. A couple seconds with a can of compressed air and things seem to be back to normal.
Thanks!
I have a lg g stylo the sensor is so sensitive .. I wave my hand over my phone and the screen goes black I am trying to figure out how to turn it off ..

If it does become a problem there is an exposed module just for diabling prox sensor

Issues when locked, in pocket...

Hi all!
I have the fingerprint locked option enabled. I find that sometimes, somehow the phone vibrates when it is in my pocket. When i take the phone out of my pocket, it will say fingerprint lock disabled. It's as though it is detecting the inside of pocket as a print, that's trying to unlock the phone. I also find that the flashlight turns it self on whilst it is in my pocket and also the bluetooth and wifi.
Is anyone having similar issues?
Finding it really annoying.
I've found some of my settings changed before, and I've noticed that the double tap to wake will work through thin material . . . like a jeans pocket.
When you put it in your pocket, turn the screen towards your body and see if that helps. Failing that, try disabling double tap to wake.
I've not had the fingerprint sensor disabled message myself, but the sensor can also trigger through thin material too. It obviously won't read any fingerprint, so if it happens a few times, it just temporarily disables the sensor.
I had to disable the double-tap to wake screen option as it was always triggering in my pocket (screen facing in). I only have screen lock set to swipe though so walking/climbing stairs was waking the screen, pulling down the notification panel and going to town changing settings. I even somehow managed to change the time display setting from 24 hour to 12 hour. I mean, how the hell can that happen in a short few minutes in a pocket?!
Glove mode is/was off if anyone thinks that might be the cause. No screen protector either.
I only have the sensor lock if my finger fails to unlock the phone after a few tries. Every time the fingerprint is not properly read it will vibrate, after about 4 go's, it locks and you need to type in your pin. I'm guessing something is pressing the power button in your pocket and it's trying to scan your finger but failing, so by the time you pull it out, it's locked itself!
I too had to diable double tap to wake because it kept coming on in my pocket. even if it does not get past the fingerpring lock it still wastes some battery.
it would be nice if something could be done in tasker to:
if phone is flat on table(accelerometer)
then enable double tap to wake.
else disable it.
DT2W is wayyy too sensible at the moment. I hope Sony will fix it. A touch or double touch shouldn't be detected through clothes when the screen is off.
That feature was perfectly tweaked on my OnePlus One running CM12.1, and I liked to use it
Yeah I find the screen touch, fingerprint and rotation all way too sensitive. I have already disabled 2 of them, fingerprint is next....

Ditto with the tap to wake frustratingly waking my phone constantly in my pocket. Never had the problem with the Z3. So many issues with this phone that were perfect on the Z3 feel like I've gone backwards.
same issue here, tap to wake activated and called the cops on me LOL...OMG
This is so annoying. My phone always wakes (through dt2w) when in my pocket and does weird stuff: changes settings, calls people, etc...
The one thing I found working for me is keeping the screen facing away from my body while in my pocket. It doesn't wake the phone up then.
I have this problem as well.
Try gravity screen app. It should turn off the screen in 1 second or less should it accidentally turn on while in the pocket.
This has bothered me loads so i've disabled the feature. You'd think they would make use of the light sensor to detect if the phone is in the pocket and then not unlock the phone on double-tab. There's the standard Google 'on-body' feature which can be used to disable security when the phone is detected as on your person.
and this is how a very useful feature quickly became most annoying issue... because of a defective light sensor or its faulty software development.
another thing I don't understand: if screen is locked, why notification access isn't ?!? at least they should put an option to enable or disable it.
sony customer care ?!?

That's actually standard Android behaviour would you believe - both Lollipop and Marshmallow. Don't expect a "fix" for this anytime soon...
It's configurable on iPhone though. Go iOS!

Fingerprint unlocks phone while in the pocket

Hello,
I've recently discovered that if you try and place a finger on the fingerprint sensor while the phone is in your pocket, the screen will successfully unlock, which I believe it's not normal behaviour. Every time I pull it out of my pocket the screen turns on and the phone unlocks, leaving it prone to accidental taps and inevitably open random apps every time.
Does anybody else have this issue?
I just tested it. Same here.
If I cover the sensors while the phone is just sitting there and then place my finger on the fingerprint reader - it registers it and unlocks the phone.
If the phone is unlocked and I cover the sensors - I get a message that the touch protection is active and it doesn't allow me to click on the screen.
Great "touch protection", Huawei. Good job on this one.

Yeah, it basically works only once the phone has already been unlocked, lol.
Nice addition to the stupid lock-screen notification issue we are having in the other thread. How awful.
At least I'm glad I'm not the only one, I'll try and open a chat when I have some spare time to waste...
