Dear people of the internet,
I am proud to represent the few countries that remain untouched regarding the OTA update on the SM-G920F.
I'm wondering since I've not gotten the update, if I could flash it and it would be like a normal Over The Air update process?
I do not want to trip the Knox counter since I'd like to sell the phone in the future or just be covered by my warranty.
So. TLR, Can I get the 6.0.1 update like OTA but flashing it? Will it void my warranty? Will it trip knox counter? Will it automatically
become rooted(something I don't want)?
I've heard some people getting fail in Odin(hidden.img), how can I prevent that if I do flash it?
Thanks in advance
TLDR: yes, no, no, no

usually flashing a stock rom via odin does not trip your knox, except if then you flash a custom rom and then install superSU.. btw YES, if you flash MM via odin will work as an "OTA"
I tried to flash stock to my s6 and it failed and the knox counter went up so voided the warranty it's a brand new phone not happy wanted three stock on the phone now it's not covered not amused tbh can't even root the phone tried pingpong root failed android l knew what I was trying to do . So yes even if u flash with odin the counter will go up I wouldn't risk it tbh

Thank you, I won't flash because of you.
Personally it's up to you but flashing a stock rom won't trip Knox. I flashed a stock FW to remove bloat and everything was absolutely fine.
I'll be flashing a stock 6.0.1 as soon as I can actually find one on here.

Cheers for future updates dude but I was doing some chores anyway so I just waited
Just powered up from the update, like the new ui, no visible problems so far :good:
---------- Post added at 01:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:58 AM ----------
So to answer the previous question,
1. Download the French XEF rom, extract the rare file to somewhere you can find it.
2. Fire up Odin on your PC.
3. Click on the AP setting and select your extracted file.
4. Put your phone in download mode and connect it to your pc via USB.
5. Wait for your phone to be recognised and press start in Odin.
6. Wait until Odin is completely finished and your phone reboots, this takes a while, don't panic just wait patiently.
7. Disconnect from PC and enjoy.
My phone is the SM-G920F variety, which I had previously debranded from 3 mobile.
I put the language setting to French for the update and switched it back after, no idea if this was important, just read some guy said he did it in another thread. I doubt it's necessary.

Did you do a factory reset before updating? Did you backup anything, and if so, how can I do that?
You didn't have to do anything with a pit file?
Verstuurd vanaf mijn SM-G920F met Tapatalk
I already posted every step I took from beginning to end.
There weren't any hidden steps, I didn't factory reset, I didn't flash any other files. I lost no data and I'm still on BTU.
I'm sorry, but, do I need to download the French version?
It's unbranded.
It's makes no difference at all, just change the language back to whatever afterwards. I'm in the UK and it works flawlessly.

The SN-N900W8 Version of the Note 3 is finally seeing its Official Kit Kt Update.
The first carriers seeing the update are in Canada. Hope The rest of America will see it soon enough.
Please check Software updates in your phone or go to the usual sites to download and install via ODIN.
Please also report if you install this version in phones from other regions/providers, like South America.
Regards
You can download it from:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

Just be sure to use your correct model and Odin version according to the instructions in each site.
Everything is under your own risk as usual.
I updated via ODIN without doing Resets or CleanUps, and it upgraded to 4.4.2 pretty nice, while keeping all my apps and without losing data.

I did an updated to 4.4.2 (KK) with Kies successfully, but I can't get root back.
Tried CF-Autoroot as before, but my recovery always says "recovery is not seandroid enforce" and just reboots to normal phone without supersu.

Friend: I think you better go and read the info in the Android Development Threads. The information there is very complete and fine.
Please be aware that the current root methods over 4.4.2 are for other models not the W8.
I think somebody needs to jump in here and test ways to do root. To be Honest, I don't do root with my Note 3, as I still have to find a reason to do it. For me everything is working nice without Root.
I was thinking about flashing official 4.4.2 for Telus/Koodo, but I haven't really seen anything that says it's rootable at the moment, so I'm hesitant to upgrade to stock 4.4.2. I'm really just looking for the latest Telus/Koodo modem from 4.4.2 (currently running MJ4 baseband), I'm pretty happy with CM11. Can I just extract the modem.bin from the 4.4.2 file from Sammobile and flash it with Odin?

If you have the time can you do a step by step guide on how you did the kit kat update, together with root and twrp, and if possible tell us where you got the right files from? Its kind of confusing what we can install and not install on our phones since there are so many different models for the note 3 and no one wants to trip knox if they dont have to.

Here is a quick and dirty guide of how I flashed and rooted 4.4.2 on my Bell Note 3.
1 download carrier firmware from sammobile
2 unzip to single tar file (N900W8VLUCNB7_N900W8OYACNB7_N900W8VLUCNB7_HOME.tar)
3 put phone in download mode (make sure you see the red/white text at the top i.e. if knox is tripped etc.)
4 open odin 3.09 as admin
5 click AP and select the tar file and then click start
6 wait
7 once phone is booted
8 download CF Root -> CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
9 I used odin supplied in the CF zip (Odin 3.07)
10 Select AP then -> CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.tar.md5
11 Click Start
12 Wait for phone to reboot
13 Enjoy Root
At this point I also installed TWRP 2.7.0.0

Didnt know there was an ND5. There wasnt even an ND5 when I downloaded the kernel source code from samsung. And nope, There like 2 knox files in the entire firmwares which is just left behind crap I believe. Absolutely does not give you a knox bootloader and crap tho. Do make sure your tablet is a T230NU model and not just a T230 model.
Thanks a lot for this. So if I'm rooted and want to install system updates I would first backup data to sd card via titanium ,(or to pc?) , then factory restore via settings, Odin with this firmware, install updates, then vroot + terminal supersu, then restore backups.... correct? I'm still trying to figure out what bloatware is safe to remove...a guide on how to clean a out of the box tab 4 7.0 would be greatly appricated....
Will this Root my T230NU?
Hi, I am new to the Android market and I was wondering if this "stock" image will root my Samsung Galaxy 4 T230NU.

Hello Ed,

So I rooted my Tab 4 7" and then decided to switch to Nexus 7 and sell my Tab 4. Both great devices but the specs and updates draw me to try Nexus after the Tab. Anyway, I went to Sammobile to get the Stock rom and inadvertently ended up with the Nook version. OOOPS. Had to reflash but the second firmware I downloaded from Sammobile (at about 1 hour each, ugh) kept failing. Even after wiping the Cache and resetting I could not flash with Odin. Tried placing the image on the SD and installing in Recovery and still no luck. Then I turned to the ONLY source for self support of Android and found ShinySide with the stuff I needed. Downloaded with the Mega link which took 20+ min instead of an hour and it flashed straight away and my Tab 4 is back to being a Tab 4 instead of a Nook. Just wanted to give props to ShinySide for his efforts on behalf of the community and his patience to put up with noobs even when they do/say silly stuff!
Thank you so much!!

HI so i tried installing twrp recovery for my SM-t230NU And it got stuck in bootloop after trying to load custom recovery. Not a single Tar file md5 file worked until i got this rom and USED odin to install it. Odin just kept crashing on me till I got here and used the md5 file provided. It pushed the files while in download mode and rebooted and even still had all my apps and email going.

I took the plunge, but Towelroot refused to work on the new rom. Apart from that the tablet started rebooting spontaneously every 15 mins or so after I installed the update.
Def NOT recommended to install it.
I had to downgrade to the previous rom using Odin and now I'm back to normal.
Hope that helps.

Another possibility could be to install H3, then flash xxuanc3 firmware, towelroot it without tripping knox and then reflash h3 firmware. A similar procedure works on s4, but unfortunately I'm not enough expert on firmware and odin stuffs, so I am not sure if there are possibilities to brick the device and how to prepare the extracted firmwares for odin flashing. I found some procedures that should work for doing that but nothing about a way to check in advance if such procedures are sure.
A developer should be able to do this, but, in wich part of the forum this can be asked?
.?

My device is rooted and I installed new update (KOT49H.P905XXUANH3) by flashing full ROM by odin, without wiping.
Now I'm experiencing random reboots (pretty often). The question is - is it because it was dirty-flesh or just new updated rom is not working properly?
Are you also experiencing such problems?

Ok,
I successfully rooted NH3 with towelroot, acting as pointed out in my first post. The only problem I had is that once you load the XXUANC3 firmware you loose the wifi connectivity, obliging to rely on your provider's internet connectivity to complete the rooting proicess.
To remove the knox and update stuff I used a debloating script that in another thread for the sm-p905, but no other stuff, as this script was written for the previus version of the firmware.
No knox trip nor reboots, so far.

- You loose the WIFI connectivity, so connect to the internet through your phone provider internet connection, then - Launch Towelroot and root your tablet, Then launch Supersu and disable Knox. The tablet may freeze at this point (didn't happen to me), but in any case you have to shut down.
- Reboot in download mode and flash the latest firmware (XXUANC3).
- At this point you're done, but, to avoid random reboots you have to completely remove Knox, something that you can do with several tools. I used a debloating tool for SM-P905 that I found in this forum.
About the Kernel files needed for this procedure, I tried to attach them to my posts, but it looks like I'm not yet enabled to do that (too few posts, may be).
To prepare them from the original firmware files I used a Windows script called TAR_MD5_PAKAGER, that you can find searching in this forum.
Hope that the above results clearer than my previous posts

Hi Guys,
I don't have root, and I only use it via WIFI.
However, after today's update, it does not connect to WIFI nor it recognizes my WIFI name.
I don't know what to do.
Many thanks in advance.

No it will not!
Stay to the facts, or at least do a read up, before you say it will.

So far as I know, flashing stock samsung firmware will NOT trip Knox
If it trips Knox, then it will be up to the repair centre the phone goes to and the carrier, regardless of EU, UK or any other LAW as Knox trip does invalidate warranty. Just because you are lucky enough to get a phone fixed after it's had custom software on does not make it the norm. And if you're refused warranty, good luck challenging it, Europe or not.
As for going back to 5.1.1 I heard it wasn't possible without breaking Knox.

Have you had any luck? I want to as well because my battery is draining like 40% faster now that I upgraded. That and there's a few bugs that I can't get rid of that bother me quite a bit.
I've tried the various guides online using Odin3 and the ROMs from SamMobile but I can't get it to not fail. I've factory restored it multiple times and tried all of the updates to Odin 3.10. I can't get any of it to work and It's making me mad! I've tried two different PCs, made sure the drivers for reading the phones are updated and even multiple USB cords! I just want Lolipop back so I can enjoy my phone and not have it be dead halfway through my day!
I have some problems with touch and want to try downgrade, how?

Hi,
Flashing ROM from sammobile never worked for me. This is what I did.
Download the latest 5.1.1 bootloader, modem and TWRP 3.0 for your model. Flash them in odin after putting them in respective locations. If successful, the phone boots into recovery, where you can restore a 5.1.1 backup if you have any. If you don't have a backup, see that you have a ROM file ready in the phone to flash.

I honestly have no idea but used to fail everytime.
http://justforprogrammers.blogspot.com/2015/12/downgrade-from-marshmallow-to-lollipop.html?m=1
I think, point is from WHICH 6.0.1 to WHICH 5.1.1- generally some combinations work.
Somebody knows which??
Downgrade not work for me, bootlop, no recovery mode for wipe after flash, only download mode. Knox not trip.
Download (G935F EDGE!): XDA-thread - S7 edge 7.0 download.
I have a few questions as I'm new in the "game".
Answers 1-5 provided by Coto39, give him a thanks if he helped! Answer 7 goes to Poncespr; same as usual!
1) Should I unroot before flashing?
After you flash the new rom your phone will be unrooted again. You will loose also the custom recovery!
2) What kind of backup should I make? Is the one in the android settings enough?
Backup everything you have in the internal memory to you pc. Also use the samsung cloud backup (it will backup a lot of things but not everything (like the whasapp and downloads folders in the internal memory)
3) What do I do if I find out the firm I flash is "the broken one"?
Then you flash a 6.0.1 stock rom again and that's all. (You can downgrade!)
4) Can you go back to 6.0.1 after going to the beta?
Yes. (Answer 3)
5) Which files do we flash? Which can we keep out? (home_csc for instance?)
All of them. Flashing CSC will wipe the internal storage so backup first! (Answer 2)
6) Does flashing android N via Odin will result to Tripping knox?
No.
7) Are there any knox-arounds for being able to use Health Or Gear Again? ("Knox is not available on compromised devices!")
"I used package disabler to block knox and gear plug-in (not the gear app). After that I reset my gear s2 and reconnected. So far so good." (Gear S2 working!)
If you were impatient, like I, and didn't backup on pc - then you're goofed! Images, contacts, layouts etc will be gone, sorry to say. Always backup!

WARNING: you can flash the betas only if your phone is the exynos variant. If you attempt to flash those roms to the sbapdragon variant you'll get a hard brick.

No.
Are there any knox-arounds for being able to use Health Or Gear Again?
I've flashed it on my s7 edge but now i see on download mode:
System status: Official
Current binary: Custom
Knox warranty void: 0x0
Other one have current binary Custom?
Do I need to set OEM unlock if I flash with Odin?
can i flash marshmallow 6.0 csc, having ims service problems when simcard is inserted
U can flash this firmware only if your phone is unlocked.
Is that correct?

Never mind.
Thought I had it working, but having same issue again.
s health does not work and i hope they get s health working when the final release is out.
Edit
Does "current binary: custom" lose your warranty?
