About TWRP Nandroid backups. - Ascend Mate 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys!
Is it possible to move from MM to LP or from LP to MM by restoring from a TWRP Nandroid backup? Can one of the expert members please answer this? If that's possible then, that makes life so much easier for all of us. All we need a collection of clean TWRP Nandroid backups for all versions and a TWRP recovery that is compatible with MM, LP and KK.
I'm asking this because I tried to update my L09 B331 to B5113 using the normal method (update.zip...) but it stops in the recovery mode at %5 and gives me a failed to update message!
Anyone have a solution? or an answer?
Thanks!

Hi,
I met this problem :
1/ i copy update file of B513 (i'm on B331) (1.22gb) to dload in sdcard through PC
2/ i reboot and start update BUT I FORGOT TO UNPLUG the usb cord
3/ It stuck at 5%
4/ about 30mn, i force poweroff
5/ I unplug USB cord from PC then start to update again, then it updated normally
6/ Update to B522 with same method
If you want to root:
1/ install TWRP for MM with recovery mate7 mobopx v2.1 translate by chudy_85.exe
2/ With Supersu 2.64 pro in SDcard, Flash it Becarefill, if flash with other supersu version you'll get issues (i got issues with Supersu 2.64 BETA)
Hope it'll help
Regards

I managed to root it with an older supersu version because the 2.64 pro link somewhere here didn't work. Can you share the download link that worked for you?

If you want to use TWRP to flash between nandroids, it must be created from the same version of TWRP. This is a PIA but makes it possible.
Stock LP and MM will have different stock recovery and you need stock recovery for a stock ROM flash. This means a lot of ADB use to keep changing recovery to get all the backups in TWRP. There's no shortcuts to doing it properly.
I used SuperSU-v2.46 on my TL10 with LP B331. Not sure if it works with MM so it's your risk.

Android 6.0/EMUI 4.0 for Mediapad X2 | B209 updated | out of beta now

**************
Currently it seems there is no way to update incremental files in emui 4.0, unless you get it from huawei directly. Updater has no option of local update now. Some people told me that unzipping zip file and placing update.app from zip in dload folder and then pressing power+volup+volminus during boot, they are able to install update. Can someone confirm this.
Btw i have successflly updated these files as i got it from huawei direclty(my imei is on beta list)
***********
Update : 24th March
EMUI 4.0 is out of beta now. B209 is out, exepct to receive direct update from huawei soon. Meanwhile you are welcome to update from file i am sharing. You need to be on B208 to apply this update.

Whats new : quite stable.

Update : 12th Mar
B205 to B208 update has come. This is again beta build. You need to be on B205 to upgrade using this zip. Process to goto B205 is written below. Rooting and other processes are all same.

Update :4th Feb
Here is beta build for GEM 703L only.
You need to be on B112 to apply this update zip.
Process :
- Be sure you are on B112 and unrooted.
- reame the downloaded file to update.zip and place it in dload folder in sd card.
- Goto Updater > Menu > Local Update > apply update.
- thats it.
Whats new :
- Android 6.0 beta.
- Will update anything else if i come to know.
How to Root :
- Get SuperSu 2.67 from here : http://download.chainfire.eu/897/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247.zip
- Install twrp recovery. For process search this forum.
- Before installing supersu zip, in twrp go to Advanced and enter Terminal Command and type in "echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu"
- This will force SuperSU to use systemless root which will patch the bootloader instead of the system and work root properly.( Thanks to ajsmsg78 for pointing out)
How to get back to 5.1 :
- After installing twrp, make sure you have any twrp installable rom on sd card.
- Goto twrp recovery and wipe system(must), data, cache.
- install twrp installable zip rom. reboot.
Note : This is beta build and may not be perfect. If you screw up your device, only you are responsible.

Many of you would be aware 1 batch of beta(B202) is already released. I was not one of them to get the update. Hoping to be in the second list.
Meanwhile if anyone has got hold on the update file, please share it here.
Btw i am expecting to get in 1 week or so.

OMG I love it already despite being a beta version. The display can be fully switched to a tablet experience without any bugs on icons. It is looking good already but I'm sure bugs on other elements (e.g. camera) will be fixed with each update.
Installing now.
Hmm......to install this and rom it, or not to install it yet. That is the question. I hope they don't encrypt the boot.img on Marshmallow on the X2. The Mate 8 ships with an encrpyted bootloader and although I have a rom for it there are a few major bugs I haven't been able to figure out how to fix yet. Someone let me know if TWRP works on this and I'll put together a ROM.
Is this reversible back to B112, just in case..??

twrp recovery is installed without problem. But when i tried to install supersu zip, boot loop started. I tried with SuperSu2.66 and 2.67(systemless root).
To go back to 5.1, chinese mentiones some method. But this is what i tried and works.
- After installing twrp, make sure you have any twrp installable rom on sd card.
- Goto twrp recovery and wipe system(must), data, cache.
- install twrp installable zip rom. reboot.
After this you can keep factory image of B112 in dload folder and press power, vol up and vol down together to install it.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'm gonna try and make a pre-rooted rom out of this and hopefully get root working properly. From watching SuperSU root my Mate 8 (works fine) and watching it root my X2 it seems like it's not rooting properly. The root process takes about 10 seconds more on my Mate 8. It's not patching the kernel like it's supposed to and defaulting to the old root method which causes a bootloop. Supposedly if we terminal command echo SYSTEMLESS=true in TWRP it will force the systemless root.
Great. right now i am back to 5.1 for the lack of root. if you can get ir rooted i will be back to 6.0

Yep. You'll see a difference in the rooting process after you enter that command. It will say it's patching the boot image when rooting. It will boot, then reboot once. Then boot right up. This is normal for the systemless root procedure. If I get this rom working, if you wanna try flashing it while still on B112 and let me know if it boots for you.

The ROM i made boots but i have the same bugs as on my Mate 8. Wifi doesn't connect and the external SD says it's corrupt (it's really not) I think it's something in the installer-script.

Your question is not clear.

How can i install older firmware in mt7-tl10

the phone was soft-bricked (boot-looping in the huawei initial animation), when i failed to instal correctly the update from b326 to b511, the bootloader was locked and the phone wasn't rooted, but i managed to solve both things, then i tried to restore a twrp backup of b511, since that was the version i tried to update to in the begining, after the restore, it was stuck yet again in boot loop but this time it only shows the initial huawei picture, so my cuestion is if there is some way to reinstall an older firmware, say b326, because when i did a backup so i could use the folder to store the files for the b511, the containing carpet name included b326, or if someone has a twrp backup for b326 that could share, it would be really apreciated
cheers
p.s.: i don't know if i should use some sort of rollback or how to use it, so any guidance would be really helpful
p.s.2: fooling around i just did another backup with twrp an it says that it has the b511 version, but i would love to go back to b326
p.s.3: i tried to run diferent stock recoveries and it only runs MM version, even when i flash recovery, boot, cache, cust, system and userdata from b326, it only let me run the MM recovery, aside of TWRP
nevermind, i finally solved it
so, with the b511 backup, you download it and change the s/n in the recovery txt, restore it with twrp and when you're going to reboot it, don't install the suggested SU, just let it run as it is and it will get into MM, then you flash the stock recovery using "recovery mate7 mobopx v2.1 translate by chudy_85" and follow the steps in this thread

Troubles getting root with Marshmallow B571

Hello guys,
I'm trying to get root acces on my mt7-l09 for 2 days and i can't figure it out !
it ran lollipop crypted. SO I downloaded Android 6 firmware for l09 on this page (have to select smartphones and mate 7 l09 standard to see it ) :
http://consumer.huawei.com/my/support/downloads/index.htm?keyword=mt7
Then I flash it (manually with huawei extract update and fastboot). I flashed the recovery twrp-2-8-7-0-mate7-android-5-1-t3156779
And with I tryed to flash supersu, differents version. the lastest I could find on google , the 2.64 and maybe one more. One worked but my system was broken, I could not go to my settings at all! when I tapped the button it just do nothing. even if I tryed to acces with long press on wifi speed dial or else.
Then I followeds this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-7/general/huawei-ascend-mate-7-bootloader-t3421392
Actually I tryd with other firmware but can't remeber which but each time I got stuck on huawei logo with android bellow. Except once when it broke my system.
I probably missed something, if someone could take a look...
I'm not far if you need more informations !
Thanks you !

GEM-702L, want to get rooted marshmallo installed. Screwed something up

I will try to keep it short and concise;
Had android 5.0.1 (if I recall correctly), unlocked it, installed twrp and rooted it.
Then used the local update option to get to marshmallo. Then tried to root again using supersu and it wouldn't boot. Tried restoring nandroid backup of 5.0.1 backup but it wont boot either.
I have searched for many hours and tried many different roms etc. I can only get to the boot animation and it just stays there.
I can get into TWRP and bootloader with no issue but have no idea if I can use the dload option if I can not boot into the OS.
Can someone please help me get this back either to the stock rom or a custom marshmallo rom installed?
I will be honest that I don't fully understand what it means when there is a prerequisite of "You must already be on B201 or higher to flash this" such as with the Simply International I have tried to flash. And am not sure what the EMUI version is or how it affects what can be installed.
Thanks for any info.
Hello
1) First of all, go into TWRP recovery, and do a full wipe. Then reboot and wait.
2) If unsucessfull, try out the downgrade file for 702L : http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=81363&version=323452&siteCode=tw . It does install with official dload method
3) If it's not enough, you'll have to use ADB to fix your device I guess:
https://androidmtk.com/download-minimal-adb-and-fastboot-tool
http://lifehacker.com/the-easiest-way-to-install-androids-adb-and-fastboot-to-1586992378?
its use on X2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62829551#post62829551
(and following post)
pick up the file from your last installed (or nandroid restored) ROM to use with huawei update extractor.

but try out 1 &2, and come back here before using ADB, to have more precise instructions

[ROOT] [GUIDE] Root Moto G4 (Plus) with SuperSU on Android 7.0 (NPJ25.93-14)

Here are the steps to root the Moto G4 (Plus) on Android 7.0 with SuperSU.
1. Unlock your bootloader with the Code you can receive from Motorola. Further instructions: unlocking bootloader. You have to create a Motorola account first.
2. Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 through bootloader. Download and how-to-flash: twrp athene
3. Backup partitons in TWRP (especially the boot-partition)
4. Flash Kernel ElementalX through TWRP. Download and further information: ElementalX
5. Wipe Cache and ART-Cache through TWRP (don't know if necessary but doesn't harm)
6. Flash SuperSU v2.79 SR3 through TWRP. Download SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip: SuperSUv2.79SR3.
SuperSU v2.79 SR3 (or newer) will flash as systemless by default on Motorola devices running Android 6+. Older versions of SuperSU won't do that without creating a config file .supersu in /data containing the line
Code:
SYSTEMLESS=true
So the best is to make sure you don't use an older version of SuperSU than 2.79 SR3!
That's it and it works. SuperSU.apk is going to be installed in step 6.
Successfully tested with XT1642, XT1622 (eta82), XT1643 (Adarsh balu), XT1644 (WTF?), XT1641 (EkisDeMX).
It's the same old guide man. Please see before posting if similar threads exist. XDA is getting confusing for the common non-techie person anyways.
Works perfect on Moto g4 (XT1622) :good:
I've tried to install SuperSU before and it didn't work on my device XT1640. I've got a bootloop and had to flash stock ROM (now I'm using another supersu). Does it really work now? Cuz I don't want to get a bootloop again and lose all my data.

You have to use SuperSU v2.79 SR3. If you use any older version, it won't install systemless and causes bootloops.
Which version of SuperSU did you flash?
And you have to flash ElementalX kernel before installing SuperSU. Otherwise you will get bootloop too.

I don't know. If you have backup of your partitions then flash your original system and boot partition and start from beginning (ElementalX and then SuperSU 2.79 SR3).
If you don't have backups then download (here on xda or somewhere else) stock firmware and flash system und boot partition.
