hi guys,
first of all hi names troy i live in New Zealand and have an imported uk unlocked defy.. since i have updated to the official UK update through Motorola Software Update things were going great up until i installed a custom recovery (phone was rooted properly) .. i tried booting into it with the volume rocker down and got the android ! sign, tried to click all over screen with no luck so i removed battery and put it back in, then all i got was the Motorola splash screen turning off and on, so basically bricked right? then i began to try unbricking with RSD Light which fixed it but now the phones acting all strange like it cant download from the android market etc.. so what i want to do is do i complete factory reset, so i can start over again and learn from my mistakes, BUT it wont let me factory reset at all i tried the factory data reset through the privacy menu but when it gets to the erase everything button i push it and nothing happens so i tried the hard reset holding the vol rocker down, and i get the android ! sign and tapping anywhere on the screen does nothing so i have to remove battery and restart. could somebody please assist me? sounds like i've screwed up the recovery system, is there a way to install the factory original one?
thanks in advance!
p.s even if theirs away to completely erase the entire flash and then reflash to factory (when i re-flash with RSD Light no matter what sbf i pick it seems to keep all settings as in i don't get the login to google, motoblur, splashes etc as if i just purchased it, there already logged in and running)
My phone got crazy yesterday:
i don't know exactly when it started but when i start my phone up it says Media Scanning.
Then it says media scanned and then it goes like showing on the screenshot attached for hours, even after restarting.
I am not rooted and on gingerbread 2.3.5
Thanks for any help!
I decided to restore the phone but when i want to do that it wants a samsung account password which i forgot.

Yes buddy. You can reboot your phone to Stock recovery (as you said you are not rooted and i hope u have not installed CWM). Switch off ur phone and switch on. When samsung logo appears, just press menu key+Volume up button. It will boot into recovery mode. From there you can wipe data/Factory reset your phone.
thanks for this tipp helped me out but do you know why the media kept scanning
At my girlfriend it was a sign before her her microsd goes defective......

Hi im really panicking here my phone has been rooted for days but for some reason whenever i pressed battery in the menu it would shut down settings and report an error so i just did a factory reset using stock bootloads (not twrp or anything) and now it gets to installing apps like kind, resets and repeats. i have tried clearing cache and all that.
Hey
I just updated to the new lolipop via the sony software I was in the phone fine then done a reboot and now it loads and get to the lock screen I unlock the phone and it locks again automatically after a second.
I cant really do anything at all now or use the phone. I dont the reboot because Wifi wasn't connecting after the update.
Ive tried doing a factory reset but the screen on boot doesnt seem to be coming up either. whats the correct process just so I can confirm im doing it right. I just want to wipe it!
I held volume key down and powered on. and the screen will just flash and reboot.. so pretty much i cant do anything to fix it
Fixed luckily I had wheres my droid installed and setup and could do a remote factory wipe! .. now everytime i open settings it stops working and crashes. anyone have any idea how to fix that?
Im trying to do a repair now using sony companion
I bought my phone about 3 months ago (Gionee p5w) and i had no custom roms installed. Yesterday i saw that there is a system update available. I think i rooted my phone using king root(not sure of version). Update on my phone wouldnt install... so i factory reset without clearing the phone memory thats when problem arised, nothing was reset except the text size setting. So i thought of going into factory mode to reset my phone and started phone with vol up and power key pressed . Factory mode didnt show up and now i am stuck in a bootloop. It shows bootloader logo and restarts again and again. I cant even go to normal mode and start my phone. I remember booting into factory mode when i bought it. Please help me fix it

Hello & welcome to xda-assist,
first of, we don't provide technical support here our job is to direct you through the boards here on xda-developers.
When you root your phone system updates will cause serious problems if you don't unroot before and revert all changes on system partition. So bootloop was expected to happen.
Only cure for that would be to reflash your phone's firmware, to find A) the appropriate firmware for your phone model and B) lern how to flash on your phone I would suggest you to visit this forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
and
Do a basic Google search on "your phone model + firmware" and "how to flash stock rom on your phone model"
Good luck
