Hi! My app ReverseTethering NoRoot might work for that. I have successfully used it to share the ReverseTethered connection via Wifi Tethering on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The thread for the app is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-reversetethering-noroot-t3316716

USB Tether GUI for Stock Firmware (Non-Rooted)

Hello all. I have an early Christmas present for all the Stock firmware users.
I have created a usb tethering application that should work for all Android devices regardless of root access. The code is and will always be GPL. I used the azilink android app written by aziwoqpd--> http://forum.xda-develoers.com/showthread.php?t=481162
I have to give him lots of credit, because without his app this would not work.
This has been tested on the G1 and the Motorolla Droid. It should work on the Hero, MyTouch(Confirmed working), etc... The GUI should install and work on all versions (x86, x86_64) of Windows starting with XP.
The GUI that I have written controls the adb port forwarding and openvpn connection while showing status. Please test this application and let me know how it goes.

Nope. This is USB Tether for non rooted users
Link is down for azilink, use this link instead for more information:
http://code.google.com/p/azilink/
Confirmed working on Windows 7, and doesn't require root.
Edit: The zip in original post contains the GUI, the apk, and open vpn. Start the apk, then click "connect" on the azilink-gui. Make sure "USB debugging" is enabled in Settings on your phone.
Thanks a lot.

Wifi tether and USB tether are two totally different methods of tethering.
Wifi tether doesn't utilize the usb cable to tether.

USB Tether requires the device to be connected to the Computer via USB.
Wifi tether allows users to wirelessly connect to your device via their Computer.

ADB is included in the azilink-gui installer. The only thing you will need to do manually is install the driver which is included in the install directory.

Download ADB from here:
http://azilink.googlecode.com/files/adb.zip
I'm not sure if ADB is built into the azilink-gui, so it's safe to just install it on your girlfriend's PC.

[Q] Need Help - Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670

Hi All,
I am relatively a new user to Android and have recently bought my new Samsung Galaxy Fit mobile phone.
I have my Broadband connection for my PC and am able to make it as a wireless router. So my only job would be connect my phone to my PC's network.
But, I got to know about the limitations we have in Android phones with Ad-hoc networking and hence will have to tweak the settings, which first requires rooting into the phone.
So, what I am looking for is a way to root into my mobile and if available a complete reference on how to connect to any ad-hoc network that is available.
Thanks so much..! Any response is highly appreciated.

You could use an app such as the one attached. Download and install the attached file and try it. Hope it helps.
Thanks Theonew for your response, but unfortunately the Z4root doesn't seem to work.
I installed it and tried runnin the app, it runs for a while and then auto disappears. I assume that this should have worked but unfortunately when I type "su" in the Terminal it shows Permission denied again.
Little more help..

Try the other app uploaded in my previous post. If it still doesn't work, then go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 and see if this works.
Hi Theonew,
Thanks for the link. I used SuperOneClick and it worked well.
Now, as I read in many articles I tried using a wpa_suppliant patch to detect the ad hoc networks but this does not seem to detetc any.
Can you please link me to any article if available

there its written my wifi card is abandoned.
I cant afford to buy a router or new wifi modem, plz help with this.
You have the answer in your OP itself. Check this out:
nectify can work in Ad-Hoc mode with just about any Wi-Fi device on Windows 7, Vista, or XP.
However, to run in Access Point mode, you must be running Windows 7, and you must have a Windows 7 certified network device driver for your Wi-Fi device. You have this device driver if you own any Windows 7 logo certified Wi-Fi device (laptop, dongle, card, etc.). However, many older devices have also been updated with Windows 7 certified drivers.

And this:
The following are known "abandoned" devices, believed to lack certified Windows 7 drivers from their manufacturers. They could of course be updated at any time.

Wait until & if Intel releases a Win 7 compatible driver for your card.
Check if they have already released an update for your card which you may not have installed.
Hope this helps.

Even the old version say that, but it allow me to create the hotspot.
I have updated the drive @cooleagle
Now i am using this setting AD-HOC WEP.
not open
But thanks for trying to help me
Instead of replacing your wpa_Supplciant file manually, you can use wifi adhoc enabler app which will take a backup of your wpa_supplicant file and modify it so that our mobile will detect adhoc-wifi.
Im using Dell laptop, Windows Vista and adhoc wifi enabled using connectify and sharing that with my SGR

WiFi Ad Hoc Enabler
It will work only in rooted devices. Because Andorid cannot detech Adhoc WiFi in general. Only a rooted device with the wpa_supplicant file change can do that. Since its a system file, rooting is must

Connect your Android device with a USB-Cable to your PC
In the Wireless & networks section (you might need to click on "More..." on some android devices), Try to activate the USB Internet. Now choose the os .(doesn't really matter)
Now there should be check mark on USB internet.(if you're doing this for the first time. You may be prompted and that's ok)
Now on the Windows network connection tab on PC right click the the network you want to share->properties>sharing tab and check mark for allow other users to connect.
