How to flash stock rom in media tek devices - General Topics

SP Flash Tool is a user friendly tool designed for MediaTek devices like Tecno, Infinix, Innjoo, Gionee, BML, etc. SP Flash Tool is a great piece of software allows you to flash your Smartphones ROMs (Stock or Custom). It supports flash stock, installing custom recovery, Unbrick the Bricked Smartphones and firmware updates for your Mediatek devices. Below are the guide to Flash Custom ROMs using SP Flash Tool on Windows Computer.
Materials Needed
1. SP Flash tool - Download it
2. Android ADB drivers - Download it
3. Stock or Custom Rom you want to flash on your Smartphone. Make sure you download the exact Rom of your phone .
4. Laptop or Desktop Computer
5. USB Cable for communicating between PC and Smartphones
To Flash a Backup or ROM with SP Flash Tool
Disclaimer: Don't flash another preloader and DSP_BL blocks! It is always dangerous! On some models of phones you will have a brick even if you download these blocks read from a phone which you own! Always remove from them marks in SPFT! ALWAYS have a working backup of your original ROM before you flash a new unknown ROM. Shelaf take no responsibility for any harm done while attempting this!
1. Disconnect your phone if connected with USB to the PC, and turn OFF the phone completely, also take out the battery if possible (ignore this step 1, for phones with built in battery).
2. Now connect or reconnect the USB cable to the phone with the PC while the phone is still off, Windows should pop up and begin to install the MTK65XX Preloader Drivers, this only happens if you installed the Mediatek Preloader USB Drivers correctly in Windows. After they successfully installed, disconnect the USB cable again.
2. Extract SP Flash tool on your computer and launch it.
3. Open the folder you extract it to and locate flash_tool, double click on it to open.
3. Once it is launched, hit the Scatter-loading button
4. Locate the scatter file in the backup or Rom of the phone that you downloaded. It's usually a text file. (ALWAYS only load a ROM that is 100% made for your phone, flashing a wrong ROM may make your phone non-bootable).
5. Hit the "Download' button in SP Flash Tool to begin the flashing process
6. Connect your Smartphone to the computer with a USB without battery, if possible to remove. Press, Vol Down or Up so that the computer can easily detect the phone.
7. Once the Flashing is complete you will see a green circle confirming... With Download OK
.
8. Close the SP Flash Tool and disconnect your phone from the computer. Congratulation, your Smartphone is now flashed with the new Stock Rom you downloaded.

If your phone bootloops, remove battery and boot into recovery mode. Factory reset the phone

Quick walkthrough here :
Make sure that all drivers are installed.
Unzip package from the link above.
Download CWM or TWRP (I use TWRP) and put them in /cwm.
Shutdown your phone, take out battery, connect it to computer by USB cable.
Open 'start_fastboot' and chose P920 (number 2). Wait for a second then plug in the battery.
Disconnect USB cable, wait for a second and connect it again (To make the phone boot into fastboot - LG cosmo appeared)
At the stage, It will ask you to check your bootloader version and install recovery tool. You choose to install CWM or TWRP line (not stock). Then choose yes and yes (twice), and wait for a second to install.
Next, type fastboot flash recovery cwm\cwm.img or fastboot flash recovery cwm\twrp.img . It depends on which recovery tool you want to use.

Urgent help needed + QFIL

Hi guys,
As mentioned in a previous thread, my F1 is soft bricked, only with the Oppo logo, no fastboot or recovery. I need to flash it again with a soft called QFIL (soft for Qualcomm devices). But it can't be done with the ordinary stock roms, I need a specific rom compatible with QFIL, like the ones used in the service centers. Is there anyone who can provide me with such a rom, or a link to download one in order to save my device?
Thank you
Can someone owning a Oppo f1 use QFIL to extract all the necessary files in order to flash them to my phone? I would be very grateful.
I have the, flashing tool and rom needed to unbrick the f1 from any softbricked state.
Let me know if you still need it, and I'll upload it somewhere and write a quick guide.
Worked for me even after I killed the bootloader.

Need some help - Msm8x39DownloadTool.exe not finding phone
Qualcomm HS-USB QSLoader9008 on COM3, according to Device Manager, yet Msm8x39DownloadTool.exe doesn't want to find it at all - Device not connected.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Edit: I have made some progress with some steps not included above.
1) Disable 'Driver Signature Enforcement' in Windows (Google is your friend)
2) Before installing the provided drivers, hold the Volume Up button on your phone, and insert USB from PC > Phone. This places the phone into QHSUSB mode and will be found in Device Manager, under Ports (The Android Bootloader Interface (fastboot) device has an ID of '18D1-D00D', while the QHSUSB device ID is '05C6-9008'.. bingo!).
3) Install the driver as directed. This will change the device from QHSUSB mode to HS-USB QDLoader 9008 on COM3.
Continue with the rest of the guide.
Stock recovery will be returned (v1.2 Rooted - I don't remember this). From here you can install Project Spectrum again, and return back to ColorOS after that.
Hopefully this helps.

I tried this my phone has no Fastboot but recovery says V1.2(Rooted)
I tried this multiple times without luck.
As you still have access to stock recovery, you dont need to use download mode.
Simply put a stock rom zip on your sdcard and flash via the stock recovery. (might have to wipe data also if flashing a different version of the rom).
That will fix your phone.
To get access to fastboot (should you need to flash TWRP recovery), flash magictricks.zip via recovery.
If your phone is so busted you no longer have access to fastboot and recovery it will automatically default to QDloader mode (download mode).
If you want to access download mode while your recovery is still ok, switch phone off, hold Vol-Up (or Vol-down, can't recall) and plug in the usb cable.
AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ACCESS TO RECOVERY, USE THAT TO FLASH A STOCK FIRMWARE, GETTING THE QDLOADER DRIVERS CORRECTLY INSTALLED ON WINDOWS CAN BE RATHER TRICKY.

Any display? or just black?
What rom did you install? If official you might be able to get a replacement through warranty.
Try SP Flash Tools, instruction in the first post. Chances are low but test if it detects after pressing download.

The error shows when your device started before the software can flash anything. SP flash tools works with locked bootloader, maybe your preloader is 100% dead

Nokia 3 Preloader Bricked

Hello XDA-Team and all others who read this.
I got an Nokia 3 from Friend who killed Device trying to Flash TWRP and Root Phone ...
The Phone can only be "Powered On" by pressing Vol Up & Power for a few seconds. After this the phone will only vibrate after each 10 seconds - i think its trying to boot but fails and then try again ... until battery will powered down and needs recharge (with no displaying charging status)
Under Windows - Device Manager - the conected phone will change in each loop cycle between the following stats :
1. PreLoader USB VCOM Port (COM3) - 2. MTK USB Port (COM4) - 3. MTK USB Port (COM4) - and then vibrate and start again
... so i think the PreLoader is bricked - first because i've read that these PreLoader will loaded first after PowerOn - like a BIOS on any Mainboard
I've tryed any solution i found on the web - mostly on xda - incl. OST LA Tool, SP Flash Tool and others ... so i've noticed some "error messages" from SP Flash Tool and also that an trying to Flash with SP Flash Tool stops the boot-vibrate-loop
Is there any solution to manually Reflash original Firmware or repair the PreLoader ???
I know older Nokia Phones can be "Reflashed" by using an self builded USB-OTG "Y-Cable" with the following configuration: Side A : USB-A plug to connect to usb power plug (or computer) - Side B: micro-USB Plug to connect phone - Side C: USB-A female to connect USB-Stick with the needed Firmware Image File (on older nokia phones it will be an NB0-File i know) ... i also know you must first put the USB-Stick with File via the cable to the OFF-POWERED Phone and then put the USB-A plug into Power and wait until the "Update Procedure" will be finished - most under 30 minutes
So, if the will be an idea or solution to fix this "Error" PLZ HELP

i extracted preloader.bin from 7.1.1 december security patch, is it there a way to somehow flash it?
Hi there, I don't have much time to explain in details now, but Ive been able to unbrick my Nokia 3 from this state by using SF flashtool with emergency mode and a rom version that I found around. It gave it life back.
After that I've been able to boot into fastboot mode and I flashed the boot.img and system.img (and not sure for the cache.img) using the fastboot commands. These IMG files were taken from a full rom update.zip (android 7.0 that I found around). I t removed root and if I well remember, the bootloader was relocked (not quite sure). After that, I could get the OTA updates (even Oreo beta).
I'll try to give more details (links to the correct ROMs, exact commands) later if you still struggle.
Hope this help anyway!
Cheers
Seem problem here, keeps vibration every now and then. But nothing shows up even ost la doen't recognise phone anymore.
Todrak, if you do have more details. I guess where all happy to hear it..
Loaded scatter file. Opened SP Flash Tools. Clicked download. Entered meta mode by pressing vol up + vol down + power on at the same time. Tried auth file, but it doesn't work.
So we stucked until we get proper auth file.
Guys, I UNBRICKED MY DEVICE! First you need to unpack stock nb0 rom with nb0 unpacker:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/nb0-unpacker-packer-tool-t3699464
tnx to @heineken78
then you'll got all files that you need to flash with SP Flash Tool including scatter file. Load scatter file on SP Flash Tools and choose all partitions to flash (don't change, rename or move files from unpacked Stock ROM folder because SP Flash Tool will not recognize files).
then do this:

tnx to @Max brackenz
You don't need auth file. It requests auth file when you press all 3 buttons but if you enter meta mode propely, it will not ask for auth file.
You will have 3 options for flashing: Format All + Download, Firmware Upgrade and Download. Choose Download option.
Here you need to be fast.
Connect phone to computer. Click Download on SP Flash Tool. Disconnect USB cable. Enter META mode by pressing power on + volume up and quickly connect USB to PC at the same time.

tnx to autor of this video.
Then it should start flashing process with red bar first (shortly) then with purple bar (shortly) and then with yellow bar. Wait for it to flash. Green circle/tick mark will appear if it's flashed successfully. It failed on 60 % for me but most importantly it flashed preloader.
Now reflash ROM with OST if you failed in half of process like me and you're good to go.
If it fails, try again. It didn't worked for me at first try.

Hi, i dont know how, but guide from SkaboXD works... I unbrick my vibrate device and phone start works. Bud i had problem with bootloader and unlock him with fastboot... (when i confirm yes i´ll open the bootloader it was error 0x7000 or something like that. So, i started try another roms and flash. In some rom after failed download and format flash with SP Tool is brick to harder... When i connected now phone into computer isnt vibrate only it show in device manager (Mediatek Preloader USB VCOM port (COM6)) and now if i try to flash (only download) with SP TOOL it show error 5000 (auth file) or error 2005. While i write this. I dont think so, that its possible to unbrick my device but if somebody buy this phone to the root isnt right choise... Its problem phone... If somebody have some suggestion how can fix this i would like...

Bricked Ulefone Armor 8 Pro

Hi everyone, I tried to flash a patched Magisk boot image on my Ulefone Armor 8 Pro via fastboot but the device is now stuck in bootloop. I have already read some threads about trying to flash the stock firmware using the proprietary SP Flash Tool, but the phone doesn't remain in download mode for more than a few seconds. I can't even boot in recovery/fastboot mode again to try to flash the stock boot image since the phone just keeps rebooting. If someone could give me a hint it would be really appreciated.

You need write the model of device.
Currently I know of 3 models: 4GB RAM(Armor 8); 6&8GB RAM(Armor 8 Pro).
So with the correct stock ROM you can flash the device.
To use SPFT you need to specify which OS you have: Linux; Win7_8_10; other
This is to know if you actually installed the USB MTK drivers correctly and if further action is needed.
Also, write if you have the device with the bootloader locked or unlocked.
I have the 6GB RAM and have downloaded a time ago the GQ3090RH3_KSX70H_Ulefone_20210902_V01(Non-EU).zip file aka stock ROM. That's aka Non_EEA model. In the Ulefone site have SP_MDT_exe_v3.2048.02.00(Client).zip aka flash tool.
You used that tool?
Thanks for the reply. I have the model with 6GB of RAM as well and I am currently trying to recover my phone by using Windows 11 in a virtual machine. The bootloader is unlocked and I tried to flash the EU version of the stock ROM (GQ3090RH3_KSX70H_Ulefone_EEA_20210902_V01(EU).zip) by using SP_MDT_exe_v3.2048.02.00(Client).zip (after installing the required drivers), but as I have already specified I can't boot in download mode for more than a few seconds. My computer recognises the device as "MediaTek MT65xx Preloader" but the phone immediately reboots and I am not able to flash the stock ROM.

Win11 is not good to use SP tool.
Maybe using Win10?!
"MediaTek MT65xx Preloader" is normal but need installing drivers correctly. You can try this: Driver_Auto_Installer_EXE_v5.1632.00.zip - 8.8MB
Reboot VM and try with the device turned off!
For using SPFT or SP_MDT your device not need in the bootloader mode. Device turned off - conect USB - look about USB PORT COM - Scan - Start All
If you not know how to do so Read Upgrade software guide for factory assembly line.pdf
Here file and more about: Upgrade tools and USB driver - Armor 8 Pro
___________________________
UP: Maybe SP need more than you know.
I used the SPFT and worked good to me with Win10.
May be SPFT can help more than SP: SP_Flash_Tool_v5.2124_Win
For using SPFT your device not need in the bootloader mode. Device turned off - open sxcatter file - look for Download Only option (NOT use FORMAT+....!!!!) - now with the device turned off conect USB - press DOWNLOAD (Ctrl + D).
Well, you saved my phone. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate that. I installed Windows 10 and the drivers you linked me and via SP Flash Tool I managed to flash the stock ROM after connecting the device with a USB cable. Thanks again.
How do I get this phone into download mode? Cannot seem to get it to flash
I've followed your tips but I cannot get the phone recognized by the flash tool.
I've collected full details here: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/248035/bootloop-in-ulefone-armor-8-pro
Can SPFT be used with Linux?
