Pair Gear S2 with Moto G - Samsung Gear S2

Hi,
there is any way to pair a Moto G 2014 with Samsung Gear S2? I know it is only 1GB RAM, but it could be some method to avoid the restriction... I have Android 6.0 and root.
Thank you very much.

I think you can not install the gearmanager at only 1 GB

I hace Gear app installed, but it dont recognize the Gear.

First connect it via Bluetooth

I have it linked by bluetooth. When I link it, the Gear shows a "configurating" message that never finishes but Moto G shows it like linked in bluetooth section.

Summary of testing:
Official "Samsung Gear" App -------> App works but Gear not found.
Official "Samsung Gear" App with Gear linked via Bluetooth -------> App works but Gear not found.
Official "Samsung Gear" App + Official "Gear Plugin" App -------> App works but Gear not found.
Old apk versions of "Samsung Gear" -------> App works but Gear not found.
"Gear Manager for All" from PlayStore -------> Phone model not supported.
Using Virtual Memory with Swap to increase RAM size -------> Same results, Virtual Memory increased, but RAM still shows 1GB.
I think that Gear App don't try to link Smartwatch if it detects RAM < 1.5GB. If this RAM detection is based on a file read, with the rooted terminal it would be faked. If is is based in hardware detection... I think there there is no way...

This is quite clear! Samsung's goal is clear at least 1.5 GB RAM. I do not understand the astonishment.

This is no astonishment, I am looking for a way to avoid this restriction.

I have also the same problem. Well it looks like i need to buy a new Phone to use the Gear S2

Sorry, I haven't found any fix, and I tried a lot of ways...

possilble solution
Hi...
I found a way to connect my Gear S2 to my old devices (Galaxy S3 mini (i8190) with cm12.1 and Galaxy S2 (i9100) with CM13), both have only 1GB RAM.
The phone has to support Bluetooth LE (don't know if Moto G does)
1. get the Gear Apps from apkpure or else where (Gear Manager, Gear Plugin, Samsung Accessory Service)
2. i had to edit the build.prop because Samsung phone with custom ROM, with non Samsung phones not necessary
3. modify the Gear Manager apk to accept lower RAM devices
> in file rules.xml in the Manager apk change the line
Gear S2
 to
Gear S2
 > maybe this works also for connection to tablets if change supportTablet="false" to supportTablet="true"4. sign all apk's (i had to singn the unmodified apks too with the same certificate like the modified) with the app "ZipSigner" from playstore
5. install the Gear apps
6. start Gear Manager, connect the Gear S2 to phone, pair and configure ...
This is how it worked for me.
Without modification of the Manager apk, The Gear app doesn't (want to) find the Gear S2, i think because Samsung want to sell more phones.
After modification, no problem and i am happy with my new Gear S2 and my old smartphone.
I hope this is useful information for sombody.

Thank you Nokiator!
I have just modified the app and resigned all and it is paired now!
The tutorial is perfect, modify Gear Manager, resign all 3 apps and install. I needed to reset the Gear S2 to pair it.
Thanks again.

I used apkManager:
Donwload and extract apkManager.
Place the three apks in "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder (Samsung Gear, Samsung Accesory Service and Gear Plugin).
Run batch script and select the right apk using "22" option.
Use "1" option to extract the apk.
The apk will be extracted in "projects" folder. Edit the apk now and save.
Use "3" option to zip the apk again.
Use "4" option to sign the apk.
The modified apks will be in "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder.
You only must edit Samsung Gear apk, but you need resign all of them.

... additional my way to modify:
The apk file is a zip archive. You can open it with a archivemanager like Winrar.
In this case the .xml was in a readable format so you can edit it directly in the archive with a text editor.
Then sign on phone with the app "ZipSigner" before install (the app does also the zipalign).
So in this case it is not necessary to decompile the app.

failing as well with moto g 1 gb
oh well, looks like pretty universal situation....

installing non market app on samsung galaxy tab 10.1

Hi folks,
I'd developed an android app v2.2 using Eclipse 3.5 and it's running on Android Emulator. Now I want to test the same .apk on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.How to install and run non market .apk on this device.
I've tried as you said but still I'm having following doubts.
1)Moved the apk to your phone via USB, and then installed it in the normal fashion. But it's being crashed on startup activity of my app while it's running properly on emulator.
2)Directly connected Tab via USB to my PC.But when I run 'adb devices',my Tab's not being listed while I can easily install and run it on emulator for the same.
Any other way to install apk using ADB to Tab?
Is there any possibility of having any OS versioning / memory issue?
(apk version's 2.2 while my Tab's having 3.1)
Kindly suggest solution for the same ASAP.

Change the sound notification of SMS

Hi,
i want to change the sms sound and using the search function i found that i need to copy the mp3 in the window root.
I have a samsung omnia w (2nd gen) interop-unlocked with windows break, anyway i can not use root tools because it's compatibile only with samsung 1st gen. Is there a way to copy an mp3 sound in the windows dir?
You can use provxml put on the phone using a .ZIP or .XAP file and processed usign the DIAG app (same as how WindowBreak works). Here's a link for how to build the provxml file: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/embedded/gg155022

Hello!
You could use FileBrowser to move your sms tones into windows folders.
And then you have to install Registry editor and follow what's written in this post!

is there a file browser compatible with the samsung omnia w (2nd gen)?
WP7 Root Tools v0.9, whihc should be out soon now, will support Samsung gen2. Otherwise, no, not yet; Samsung has done a pretty good job of locking everybody out of the high-privilege system components.

[GUIDE] Install apk without Filemanager/Internet

Yesterday i flashed a custom ROM and it didnt came with a File Manager installed with it.
Only way to Install apk was to connect to internet and download one File Manager.
While searching foe alternative methods i found 3 ways to install an apk without a FileManager or internet.
So far i've founded 3 methods
ADB
1.Copy the apk to an easily accessible directory eg. D:\name.apk
2.In ADB type adb install D:\name.apk
Done!

Terminal Emulator
For this method you should have terminal emulator installed on your device
1.Open terminal emulator
2.Type su
3.Change directory to SD card cd sdcard/or your apk folder
4.Type ls to see the list of files in your SD card
5.Type pm install name.apk
Done!

For browser method didn't know

Another method here.
But first, some back story:
I integrated a system update using Titanium Backup on my coworker's tablet which broke the stock Google keyboard. This wouldn't have been a problem if poking around the recovery menu didn't also stupidly wipe the thing without so much as a confirmation. Yes, "Vol Up" = "Make Selection" instead of "Move Up" and there was no confirmation prompt so I accidentally picked "Wipe eMMC" and was immediately greeted with "Formatting eMMC." All I wanted to do was look for some cache clearing options and pressed Vol Up to *gasp* see if I could move UP the menu (Vol Down moves down and I expected power/lock to be "Make Selection").
Anyway, I had made a backup with Titanium Backup Pro when I first rooted his tablet (Verizon Ellipsis QMV7A) but it wasn't much use without a file manager and there was no way to use the browser or Play Store without a keyboard. There's also no ROM available, stock or otherwise.
The fix:
I didn't have a USB OTG adapter or a Bluetooth keyboard, but I did have my Galaxy Note 3 and the tablet did have Bluetooth. I paired them without needing the keyboard and initiated a file transfer to send a keyboard APK. It worked beautifully! I enabled alternate sources for APK installs, installed the keyboard, installed Titanium Backup, and was good to go! Of course, I then integrated it and a file manage into the ROM with Titanium Backup Pro.
you rock..!

Hi from France
(1 - sorry for my english then
2 - sorry too if the paths I indicate are not very accurately named in english as my phone menus are in french
3 - I did what follows with success on my rooted Kitkat (build .77) Z3 Compact)
!!! FOR XPERIA OWNERS ONLY AS FLASHTOOL IS A DEDICATED TOOL FOR THESE DEVICES !!!
So if you've got Flashtool installed on your computer, you can also install APK's without the Internet nor a file manager.
All you need to do is:
- on your phone, select "USB debug" mode in the "Developer options" menu (if not activated, tap 7 times on the "About the phone" line at the bottom of the "Settings" menu),
- still on your phone, allow the installation of unknown app in "Settings" > "Security" or "Settings" > "App" (depending of your Android version),
- connect your phone to your PC,
- then on your computer, launch Flashtool,
- once your phone is recognized, click on APK Installer (curved right arrow button: 5th button from the left),
- select the .apk file you need (notice that if stored on your phone, you can select the one you want -click ctrl for selecting several apps ; but if located on your PC, it seems that Flashtool won't let you choose the one you want and will install all the .apk files existing in the folder where they've been downloaded).
That's it, your app should be installed and working.
Not tested on my Mac (did it on my PC under XP SP3), but I guess it should be working all the same.
And as I said above, I did this on a rooted Z3C, so I don't know if it would work on an unrooted phone.
Hope this has been helpful.
Thank you to Joe from the french forum Phonandroid.

No adb no browser nothing needed on this case .. You should be having the default- Downloads app right?
1 Go-to settings_storage_explore
2. Find the apk file use the copy option to copy it to downloads folder(cm 12 legacy xperia not able to open apk from this explore option)
3 launch the downloads and which is there as default
4 and open the apk from it
I found this more easy.
I accidentally uninstalled my file manager and I'm planing to do a factory reset with my phone but if i do so I won't be able to install apps and my alternate es file explorer cause I don't have a file manager... So can you help me on how to re-install my apps after my factory reset?
If you have email access you can email yourself an apk.

Hello

[Tutorial] BBM for Android on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1

I don't know if anyone have started a thread about this, but I can't find one here.
So let's begin
As we all know that BBM for android limit their App only for Smartphone, but that's not really true.
You just can't install BBM for Android from Google Play if you are using Tablet.
For any of you want to Install BBM app on your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet, you'll gonna need an Android Phone.
Open Google Play on your Android Phone
Search & Install BBM app to your phone.
Open File Explorer (Root Explorer or ES File Explorer is recommended)
Go to /data/app
Look for file "com.bbm-1.apk" (without quotes)
Send it to your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Install the APK into your Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Follow the instructions.
If you got any error, it's ok. Just wait because you are still in the queue lines.
If you got through then VOILA BBM on a TABLET
Ask me any question about the procedure if you have any & not the BBM error

It's ok, just wait.
Unable to complete setup error means that you can't connect to BBM server with your ID just yet.
It doesn't always mean that you don't have internet connection (BBM connected notif. means you have internet connection).
If you have pre-registered from bbm.com before just wait for an email from bbm.com.
If not.....then you'll have to wait longer.
Just be patient as 10 million of downloads in only 24 hours means the server is under very heavy load.

Both BBM is usable using the same BBM ID, but only one of them will be active at a time.
When you run BBM on inactive BBM, it will ask you to switch device.
If you do switch, the last active device will become inactive.

For everyone that can't find "com.bbm-#.apk" (change # into 1 or 2 because it seems like the version number) have to make sure that :
You have installed BBM for android on your Android Phone
Make sure the folder path is "/data/app" (without quotes) & NOT "/sdcard/data/app", "/extSdCard/data/app" or "/sdcard0/data/app"
Use 3rd party file explorer & DO NOT use built in file explorer because built in file explorer limit the accessible area only in "/sdcard", "/extSdCard" or "/sdcard0"
Root File Explorer and ES File Explorer is recommended
I won't accept any APK request because of:
Security reason
The app is still under heavy development as different version can cause different experience or problem that I may not able to answer if anyone ask me questions
This thread is only a tutorial thread
I hope all of you understand

It's working but strangely enough BBM for android need a very stable Internet connection (& fast too)
"No Internet Connection" BBM error doesn't always mean that you don't have internet connection.
It can be happening because:
Your BBM can't reach its server
Your BBM ID isn't ready yet
Your Internet connection is not stable enough (usually during setup)
Your ISP or Router block certain IP addresses that may interfere with the BBM connection (consult with your ISP and check your Router settings)
The BBM server under extreme load (so retry )
Rooted or non-Rooted?

Does the phone from which I want to pull the apk have to be rooted? I'm using ES File Explorer on a bone stock Galaxy Note 3, and I can't see that /data/app folder at all. Appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

I think you must use apkshare (free on PlayStore). Apk you can see on ES file explorer, if that apk not from PS.
Please delete this,double post

First make sure that you can see "/system" on your ES File Explorer (or other File Manager)
If you can't see it then you are looking at your Internal Memory / microSD not your Root Folder (it doesn't have to be rooted for you to get to the Root Folder).
When you open ES File Explorer (stock one,not custom settings) it will bring you to your internal memory (/sdcard).
You have to go to "/" (Root Folder) to be able to see "/data/app".
Please read more in this XDA forum....don't be lazy !
wow ,your method works on my tab 10.1 ... thank you very much :victory:
