Looking at getting Galaxy S8+/ Note8 Exynos or SD?

I am looking to purchasing either the Galaxy S8+ or the Note 8. I am curious about what i should go with the Exynos or the Snapdragon.
I really like to be able to in the future install linageOS onto it. However I still want it to work with T-Mobile's network.
Is there any real reason that Exynos has not made it stateside?
Note 8 isn't out and neither are any benchmarks comparing the exynos and sd835 head to head.
Samsung doesn't have a cdma modem for sprint/verizon so they need qualcomms modem, which is bundled with the 835 soc.
You'll need to import the international version from europe, pretty sure it'll work on tmobile.
Wouldn't the S8 forums be better for this?

I was looking for information about note 10 5g variants but unsuccessfully. How many variants this device currently exist and what's their code names? I am absolutely noob because of it will be my first Samsung. Thanks

Mine is a 10 PLUS 5g UK Samsung bought unlocked device on exynos code sm-n976b.
Currently there are 4 versions(10+5G) that are widely available (in their respective countries). N976B is the international version. N9760 is the Chinese version, N976N is from Korea and N976V is from the Verizon version in the US. Currently the only US network carrying the 10+5G.

Question does the exynos model get 5g in the US?

Cause I bought a exynos note 20 ultra last year off amazon and it could only get to lte but not 5g and I got it to get 5g and be able to root. So I returned it and just got a snapdragon version and just lived without root which is honestly fine btw. Will the same thing happen if I buy an exynos s22 ultra? Or can the snapdragon version be rooted this time? Pls don't yell at me if this has been asked but the search bar here is confusing and I'm baked af

Well, not knowing which carrier you use, I don't know what else to say.... Perhaps take a look at the source the next time you're not "Baked AF".....
No ill will intended, but, if you give the site a good look, you'll be able to figure it out.

The most reliable way to ensure your device will support 5G is aquire your Service Provider's device.
Typically with the Exynos variants you can access root but since it's a brand new version ask a Exynos user if bootloader unlock is available in developer options. If you're going to be in US it probably won't connect.
Again typlically only the Snapdragon version from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong (SM-G9080) will offer unlocking the bootloader. If you're going to be in US it probably won't connect.
Be aware OneUI 4.1 may have eliminated bootloader unlock.

Thanks bud, what a gentleman I have tmobile in the US. So your saying if I get a tmobile exynos I can have 5g in the US no prob? And is snapdragon s22 ultra rootable or is it just the exynos version?

The T-Mobile device is a Snapdragon variant, if that's your carrier and you need 5G it's your best option. The T-Mobile device, if it's the same as it's predecessor the S21 Ultra, can't be rooted. T-Mobile only sells Snapdragon variants.
My experience with a HK s21 ultra that has the same bands as exynos s21 is that 5G doesn't work in the US asot didn't have
the key 5G bands. On TMobile it sometimes says 5G as the device has one if the bands tmob uses for 5G in the US but it's phantom, and you only get 4G.

Yep, I have the SM-G9980 on T-Mobile and Network Mode displays 5G but it never connects. For me 5G is close to useless and I'd rather not have T-mobile's bloatware and prefer the unlocked bootloader. Not to mention no long term carrier commitment if you're looking for a discount on a new device.

Question What about Updates on the Snapdragon Edition ?

Hi there !
As we all know, most of the people having the Exynos variant are facing huhge problems related to performance and battery drain.
I could probably import an (unbranded) S22 Ultra with a Snapdragon Processor from Hong Kong.
Before doing this, i wanted to know :
- if the device will work perfectly in Europe (Luxembourg, Germany & France)
- i read that i might not get the updates as fast as on my european exynos variant.. is that true ?
Kind regards,
Valy
I hope to create a thread for that.
As far as I know, both Models, SD and Exynos, supports all 3G, 4G and 5G bands. You can double check that, but if it supports all bands, you can use all around the world.
About updates, Exynos is Samsung processor and it is normal to get updates first. You have to check if China CSC is fast in updates.

Question s22 ultra snapdrgon

Does anyone know where i can buy a s22 ultra snapdragon ? i live in the east coast usa
Any US carrier branded S22 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen1. Also, an unlocked device purchased directly from Samsung for the US market will have the Snapdragon chipset.
You can buy it from Amazon.

Edited my reply to include unlocked device, direct from Samsung purchase.
Just want to add the US version can't be bootloader unlocked or rooted, even the unlocked version from Samsung (model s908u/u1)
I bought a s908e through Amazon and I'm also eastern US, rooting was easy.. thanks to the awesome devs here
