Hello,
Can you tell us make and model of your device? What firmware are you currently running?
-Vatsal

Hello, Thanks for response. I have a Samsung sch i405 Stratisphere phone. The firmware is 2.3.6, I am a old retired and disabled veteran who can identify a smartphone 2/10 times. I can follow instructions if they are simple. I have no idea what these acronyms and abbreviations you technology folks use mean.
Thanks again for your time, Doug

[Q] Rooting my Ace Plus S7500 - Please help

Hi, I am fairly new to this forum and did the read the noobie section first, so I hope I am abiding by any rules.
Firstly, I have a Samsung Ace Plus S7500 on EE Network running gingerbread. I am fairly good with computers and have had experience in some basic things so I should be able to hold my own with the lingo.
Basically, I want to root my phone and put Jellybean with 'Softkeyz' as my O/S, however I read that a lot of ROM's are faulty or neglect aspects of the phones features, is there a very basic simple O/S that I can have? Perhaps even staying on GB like I am but just adding superuser abilities.
Please help me someone! I can supply more information if needed.. Thanks in advance!

First of all you need to root your Ace Plus and have CWM Recovery installed on your phone.
Download and Flash CM10 by TheWihsp from here

Then Follow this Guide for Softkeys/Navigation Bar

Gapps is a package that contains Play Store and other apps required for Rom. You must flash Gapps after flashing Rom.

[Completed] [Q] Help for newbie to Android Roms using Linux

Dear all,
I have tried in the past to backup and flash roms on some devices using Windows with some success. Now I have completely switched to Linux and have not been able to find a guide that would allow me to get started.
I have a Lenovo mobile (A806) that comes with good hardware but a crappy version of Android 4.4.2 that makes the user experience very unpleasant.
I am trying to figure out how to root my device, backup the rom currently on my device, find a custom rom (possibly based on Android 5),
flash it, and eventually troubleshooting common problems one might have. It might as well be that there are many other things I need to know, so please just let me know: I am here to learn.
I have no idea where to start to do this from Linux, so I would really appreciate if you folks could point me to the right tools/resources,
and help me getting started.
Thanks a lot in advance to all of you

Unfortunately, there is not much about your device on xda.
You can check this thread: Lenovo Golden Warrior A8 (A806) root.
There are some users which have managed to root this device.
Maybe they can help.
Good luck !

Hi Luca,
here is a thread about flashing ROMs on LINUX: Flash Rom under Linux.
And here another one: step 1 and 3 under linux ?
... but they are originally for another devices.
Here is a better guide: [ROM][DEV][REF] Heimdall Firmware Packages S4 LTE+ I9506 ... as you can see, it's for Samsung devices.
But it's a good read anyway.
Many thanks
I hope I can flash something soon!
Cheers,
Luca

[Completed] Noob question for new android user who moved away from apple!!

I recently made the switch from apple to Android! I love my new Galaxy s7. I have found many great tutorials on how to root and I completely understand the risks of going through with it. Could you please post a link to the most recent, and highest rated, thread on how to root for a beginners level of expertise? Also, does baseband version matter with root? If it matters my Android version is 6.0.1 and my baseband is G930VVRU2APG5 and Kernel is 3.18.20. Please remember this is my first time on your site and I look forward to the help with my new Galaxy s7. Thank you so much!

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy Note, root from Android 4.1.2 to Android 7.0

I am new to this. So, Am I right here at all?
I am new to rooting.
0.-By upgrading this hardware to Android 7.1 I try to benefit from the latest tech. standard.
But I have no idea whatsoever what s feasible at all. -- Oh, please don't reply: "You can do everything." What is everything? Where can I learn it?
1.-Is this software compatible with Rom CM14.1 Nougat Android 7.1 Night Owl Alpha 6, I downloaded from here?
2.-I downloaded ClockworkMod.
3.-I saved instructions like "How to Root Android 4.1.2 with KingoRoot.apk
4.-I saved "How to install ClockworkMod."
Do I need more items to download? Which ones please?
I ask you to please give me the right direction at this very very basic situation.
Thank you very much.

Greetings and welcome to xda. The rom you want to install is this one yes ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/development/rom-nightowl-preview-t3455847
The rom will be pre rooted so you will only need to install your custom recovery and then flash the rom. Most of the users on xda are really friendly and helpful so do not be frightened of asking any questions in the the threads and the experts will help you (if they don't just threaten them with me haha). Anything you are unsure of just ask in here

I can not find alpha 6 but alpha 7 is nougat the other 2 night owl threads are mm and kk which I can link. Please note though it is only the operating system you are changing so your hardware will be the same but will have new feature
As long as you have installed the correct recovery you can back up your current rom and then try any of the 3 and return to your current rom safely. If you ask in this thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/help
the experts there will be able to assist you better as they have your device
Good Luck
