[Completed] Rooting apps for LGE LGMS659 OS 4.1.2 ARMv7,rev,4 running Dual if there is a differin - XDA Assist

I have been trying to learn the rooting process of the LGE LGMS659 Android 4.1.2 v71. And need to seeing I may get someone to help me in understanding how much can be attained from that ability.
I am, like most, to consider myself not well versed of the program languages and the protocols envolved. And I would not like to disrupt my phone. I mean my droid.

[Q] From where should i start learning android and what topics should i lear?

I want to learn rooting and programming in Android and other stuffs related to android troubleshooting,,, i have basic knowledge of java. i want to know from where should i start... Plz help
Something like http://training.oreilly.com/androidapps-java/ ?
Sent from my unrooted DroidX using XDA App
I would start off my learning a lot of the terminology, this includes everything from rooting to flashing. Looking in the "tutorial or development" section of a forum can be very helpful too. Things are constantly changing and being developed, so making sure you are up to date is always good!

[Completed] [Q] Wanting to upgrade but I am a total android newbie

Hello, Ron here.
I have a Cricket Galaxy S4 (i337z)
I am wanting to upgrade to a new OS (right?) other than the one that came with my Cricket phone. (4.4.2 kit kat ?)
I would like to see what Lolipop is like and if possible with out rooting.
I saw some threads about just that but it was for AT&T.
Since AT&T and Cricket are the same now (I think) would that be the same.
I also am not sure what would be better operating system than the 4.4.2 that is OEM on my phone.
I don't know if I want to root or keep it stock.
All I have read just gets me more confused .
From what I have seen the difference between kitkat and lolipop is like Windows 7 and Windows 8 and I absolutely hate Windows 8 . (worst os ever)
Which threads show in depth with step by step by step ( yes I am totally phone IT challenged) how to do this and what are the risks in doing so.
What are the bells and whistles available that are worth it for the upgrade.
Please use layman's terms and no acronyms because I probably would not understand what you are trying to tell my newbie brain.
I am really wanting to learn how to do this stuff and I figure you guys are the ones to point me in the right direction.
Thank you so much for your time and efforts on my behalf.
Ron
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best place to find answers is in your device's specific forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att Although it's not specific to the 1337z there are users of that device here. Start by asking here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320430
Good luck!

[Completed] I want to root an LG VK700. Where do I start?

I would like to learn how to root a device but I'm not sure where to start. Pretty much I want have a more streamlined system that is more secure. It's currently an android device. LG G Pad VK700. The carrier is Verizon. I have used Linux a lot and done live builds along with kernel builds. Nothing really custom though. I was told this was the forum to hit up.
Where do I get started? Any recommended books?
I'm more interested in learning the entire process of rooting a device and developing and installing a custom ROM than in a quick download this app.
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist.
Please check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3049772
It should work as reported here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60319213&postcount=170

[Completed] General rooting info (please help)

Hello, new member here. Let me start with I apologize if there is a general tutorial explaining everything I am about to ask, I have looked and cant seem to find one. I know and understand how to root and what the basics are that it allows. I have rooted several phones for the sole reason of cleaning preinstalled apps to make more space. The problem is I bricked my last phone and am now using my new LG G Stylo. I have no real idea about what or how recoveries work. Also kernels and roms. I am looking for a general tutorial explaining pretty much everything about rooting. Like how to mAke and use a recovery, what roms are and how to use them, same with kernels. Nothing too in depth, just the basics so that when I do root this phone I can have a recovery ready and set up, and get the full potential of rooting.
Also if anyone knows of a tutorial for the LG G Stylo by metro (LGMS631) that goes over the best setup for this phone for speed, space, an functionality.
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
Thank You, Nikkon

Thank you, I thought about there first but figured that doesnt make sense. My questio.s are mainly general. I was only stating my new phone and asking a quick aquestion abbout that, but the main gist of this post has nothing to do with the LG G Stylo. The main questions and even topic of post is general questions just explaining what it means to root and what kernels, roms, etc. actually are. In general. Thank you for some type of feedback tho. Its appreciated.

[Completed] I need a basic rundown of rooting benefits.

I recently bought a Moto X Pure from an XDA Member which should be here at the beginning of next week.
I used to own a GS5 which as you know is pretty locked down. Locked bootloader, hard to root, if you updated you're screwed, ect. So! I've been out of the rooting game for a while now and only really dipped my toes in to begin with.
My question is, can anyone explain the basics and benefits of a rooted device? Specifically, Xposed Framework/Modules, Root detection with Android Pay, and maybe some things that i've gotta try out with a fully unlocked android device. I plan to install an AOSP ROM but im gonna try out stock Moto X first and see how i like it.
Another short question I have regarding Android Pay, i've heard that some root techniques make Android Pay not work, some are fine, some custom ROMs wont work, AOSP roms will, can somebody clarify all this for me?
Thanks guys, you're always helpful. Glad to be back.
