A quick question guys.
I'm a traveling business person and I'm seriously thinking of getting this phone.
I had the mate 7 last year as it was gifted to me from one of my associates in China. I loved the fact that I could use two sims with the phone. This allowed me to use a business number and a private number.
Furthermore I'm always away from a charger and always running out of juice. The mate 7 fixed that.
However notifications are key for me as people need to be able to reach me. I'm looking at the Nzt-al10 model from China, I might request a friend to buy it there for me.
Does the notifications not work for everything? Or just certain things. Or is it like the problem for the 6p where only some people experience it.
I mainly use Wechat, Facebook Message, Gmail for syncing everything, Line and Skype. Is there any notification issues with any of these?
Thanks
Notification works for me perfectly from stock l29 to two different Roms I've tried l10 and the other one
from my experience, international L29 roms handle notifications way better than AL10 roms. im on an AL10 model and decided to stick to L29 roms, they just work!

I'm going to grab the AL10 with 32gb and 3gb of ram. Are there any major issues that I will experience flashing the L29 rom on to it? I see some issues in regards to lock screens. Also will I be able to get OTA?
I'm looking at the specs page and it seems the LTE bands are different for the AL10 and the L29 roms. Will that affect usage in anyway? I need AWS or band 4 on 3g and LTE as I use the phone in Canada.
Thanks again.
2G and 3G are exactly identical. as for LTE, only one single band is different between the two, thats it!

Will L29 fully work with US T mobile?
In case of any problems with notifications you can install greenify and add apps to the DOZE whitelist without root. Confirmed and working.

Please send here your greenify settings you made exactly. And do you make greenify auto-start or start manually every time you reboot?
Have had my Chinese Model Mate 8 for over a month now and never any notification problems, except for this unofficial facebook app I had. Replaced that with the official one and it worked perfectly. No issues at all, battery lasts over a day easy, medium usage for me and it lasted 50 something hours. Heavier use with 10 hours screen on time and getting through one whole day. HIGHLY recommend this phone.
Mine is the NXT-AL 10 from China, 4Gb Version, and I had and have several notification problems, but only in emails... which is the feature that more use I give ...
Only disabling DOZE is a functional phone, at least in my case.
The things just like they are, there are plenty of reports of people with notifications problems, and so far none seems to have solved the problem.
No matter that the battery lasts forever. There is no functional phone if you have to unlock the screen every few minutes to see if an email came ..
Whereas this is a problem apparently happens at random, I think too much money to risk.
A phone needs to be more than beautiful, powerful, or have a 4000mAh battery.
You need at least, a phone that alerts you when it arrives an email.
Only issue I am having is that K9-Mail only retrieves mails/notifications when on AC., even with doze and kill-on-screen-off disabled.

Didn't receive any updates on honor 8 in The US.. The company lied. Looks like I'll be buying a new phone from a reliable Company.
I just got mine yesterday. FRD-L04 US.
Just be patient, they said mid february.
The updates roll out in batches. I came from nexus devices. Be patient. All manufacturers do this that way if there is a bug, they can shut it down before all phones are screwed...Like Apple iOS updates screw up alot of phones and tablets.

Keep an eye on the receivers' log: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XULbGwxpO0s_RH9EzbvWjLP48MNCz7vkolbT0TiMf7s/edit#gid=0
It's obviously happening right now, but it will take a while to roll out to everyone.
Firmware App
Has anyone tried using the Firmware App? I'm just curious cuz it has the 360 build. I was thinking of trying it out.
Mine keeps bugging me to update when I don't want to.
No phone manufacturer releases the update to every unit simultaneously. That would be killer on their servers, plus if something went wrong there would be no time to correct. Also, the official announcement said the rollout would start 2/11, not everyone would get it 2/11. So no one lied, and switching to another phone maker wouldn't change anything--you still might not get updates the first day. Like you, I am eager to get the update, but it's also important to keep in mind the facts. It helps to limit the frustration.
I updated to Nougat and it sucks. Battery life sucked, ROG doesn't work, can't lock Messenger app with fingerprint...
I rolled back to MM and now i can have my 6hours+ of SoT.
If you wanna take my advice and bear with the ugly notifications menu, do not update to Nougat.

Right now its kind of buggy,
Maybe i'll revert back MM but nougat UI is beautiful..oh..man.
I agree, the nougat build is really nice! Really liking the stock sms look and notifications. I updated using the Firmware App. Battery seems to suffer a bit but I'll stay on it until the final build is released

Don't know but I've 7hr+ SOT on Nougat. Can't remember any phone with that high SOT. Also Nougat became more stock-ish with EMUI 5.

Battery life depends on user's habits.
I personnaly have 3 emails to sync, Messenger, WhatsApp, Pushbullet and other apps that need to sync. My data(4g) is always on. I use Spotify for 1 to 2 hours a day.
All of this takes some juice but for some reason I can get past the 5 hours of SoT on MM without any problems.
On a sidenote, I think that EMUI5 functionality to kill apps when screen is locked is kind of broken.
(Sorry for the off-topic, but these are things that people need to know before upgrading)

I think you are just impatient. The new EMUI 5 has the smart control built in, and it will take a while to learn to optimize your system based on your use habit. My battery life with screen on was initially 4 hours, but after a night of optimization going on in the background and a couple of reboots following a full charge with the screen turned off for the system to optimize battery performance, my SoT goes to 7+ hours which is much better than EMUI 4. It knows what to close whenever necessary based on my usage history.
Yeah, the ROG is not working, but I don't need it anymore. From my reading, the customizable dpi feature has been available on the Android 7.1.1 based ROM. See here (in Chinese): http://club.huawei.com/thread-11707731-1-1.html
I think it will be available for future EMUI updates.
There is only one thing I haven't figured out is how to show the Huawei Health icon by default in the notification area. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks.
For what it's worth... to the people having battery issues: I have been running B360 for two full days and day 2 (today) is/was exponentially better battery-wise than day 1. I was MAD at the end of day 1, I'm rather impressed by the end of day 2.
Hey everyone
I just heard about Huawei been a bit more relaxed about rooting their Mate 30 Pro.
At First I was like that is AWESOME, the idea of been able to use the Mate 30 Pro with pixel experience (my favourite custom Rom) sounds amazing.... best Pixel stock experience on a beast like Mate 30 would be epic.
Then I found a strange taste in my mouth. There would still be some draw backs. Thought I would list some concerns and people could answer some of those concerns.
(Note....each concern/question has a solution or comment I think about the issue.....this is just my view and not to be taken as the only view)
1. Lack of full potential from cameras on the back?
I know some custom ROM camera apps are pretty good l, but to really experience the best from the camera's you would have to have some access to l the Mate 30 Pro stock camera app package to allow.
A thought I had is that Huawei could make a APK that's a bit like Goodlock and this app would allow you to download the stock camera app and other stock apps that people may use on their Huawei devices.
2. LTE and 5G??
I can remember using my Samsung S7E with Pixel Experience but one of the draw backs was that I could get 4G but I didn't get the extra features like LTE, wifi calling, HD call quality ect. If this remained the case then this would be a major draw back to a 2019 flagship device.
Maybe Huawei could needed coding and solutions directly to custom Rom developers....or allow then to be a open source so every ROM devloper had access these features.
3. General Custom ROM glitches and bugs
We are all used to our ROMs having strange behaviours every now and ad gain but do we want these bugs on our £800+ smartphone that we use eveqersryday.
This solution seems obvious Huawei need to work closely with custom Rom developers and helping them Iron these issues out.
4. Some apps dont work on custom Roms no matter what.
Back to my S7e I was able to almost all of the apps on my phone thanks to magisk manager but some apps still had issues. My samsung gear app would pair with my gearfit 2 no matter what. It downloaded but it would not find any devices. I found a fix but that caused my Google to stop working, so had to put it back. This happened with other apps as well.
The only solution I can think of is app developers would have to made aware that mate 30 users could be using rooted devices with Huawei's blessing and ensure there apps work on rooted versions of the phone.
5. Is Warranty still safe.
If Huawei are actually cool with us rooting our P30 Pro then they need to put their money where their mouth is and allow this activity with their manufactures warranty, private insurance companies need to follow suit as well.
Huawei could give us manufactures warranty but with the condition that if possible we have to flash the stock firmware of the device before sending it out.
That's it....that's just s few of my thoughts and possible solutions and would love to hear what you guys think and if you have any worries or questions of your own? Maybe if we make enough noise Huawei will notice us and take our ideas and answer our questions themselves.
(Make it easier....put which number comment your answering to so we all have a better idea what's going on)
Keep it friendly guys remember these are mine and others thoughts.... none of us are implying that these thoughts are right.
By the way... I am a Note 9 user but I am really excited of the potential of Huawei been the ultimate custom ROM brand.
Official Pixel Experience is pretty much nill on Huawei Devices. I see the Honor 10 has
again been dropped.
When the Ban is lifted Huawei will lock the bootloader again no doubt.
they have changed their mind, they will not unlock the BL for the Mate 30.
the only place this device will sell well is China, they are screwed pretty much everywhere else.
I just bought one in shanghai yesterday. Its a very neat and fast phone. especially the 40w charging is cool. you can watch percentages go up...
I asked for the 5G version but i was told its not availbale and should come November. I was wondering though if its already built in and just needs a software patch... like back then when Nvidia was reducing performace on Graphic cards by disabling shaders by firmware...

I would say most likely it works, as the China version covers pretty much all the network.
You could find out the specs from their website and check if the LTE bands covers T-Mobiles. It works on Bell's network though.

I am in TX, I got Mate 30 Pro from China, and it works with T-mobile showing "4G" icon. The speed test result is like to my old iPhone 6.
By the way, I have 2 sim card, one is China Union (works on AT&T's network) which support VoLTE, the other is T-Mobile which does not.

I came across this video on YouTube where this guy turns on his phone and says his phone unlocked. Most likely a review unit like others have had, release software dosnt have OEM unlock option in developers, if something comes of the int. Version we may be able to get rebranding but has yet to be seen
He commented about it being a devkit under the comment by Markus Haier here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5pxYxPSbl_s and said he was going to make a video on it but still nothing.
@o012 Well my P30-Pro (VOG-L09) has OEM unlocking under developer options but haven't tried unlocking.
All works in canada except certain banking apps google backup netflix google pay androis assistant needs to be rebooted everytime. Rest all works fine including google photo backup
Has anyone installed a custom ROM and TWRP to it yet.
Could a Gapps package help the issues? Gapps include all the google services and system setting to keep google stable and updating.
Think Gapps could be installed via the phones built in bootloader??.
I've had the P20 Pro and now the Mate 20 Pro. I'd like to get the Mate 30 Pro 5G model and I've been wondering if I would even miss Gapps if I wasn't able to install it.
I mean I think it would actually be a good thing not having any of the Google services on my phone as Google have been shown to be as shady as the Chinese when it comes to harvesting data without you knowing.
What would you not be able to do without Gapps?

Never needed it, but you're saying I should root my phone so all the apps I need don't work properly, but android auto does? Bit strange....
You probably have a different phone then or a very different software at least. I'm also in UK, and half the things don't work properly at all when stock! You can't connect a ware OS watch properly, some apps will not start at all, some will have different functionality because the phone is with a CN flag in the Build.prop and so on.
I guess it really depends on what you are using on your device... For me personally, using this phone without a root and all the patches is not an option...
Well, half of what things don't work, bit vague? My Huawei watch connects perfectly, maybe you need the China WareOS software? I did with some of my previous Xiaomi phones. I've yet to find something I use or need that doesn't work. I get notifications without any issues, I have removed the China dialler and similar and replaced them with google versions, same for gallery, it's gone too. Literally the only stock apps left are Themes, Cloud Backup, GetApps and the default security software.
Maybe I'm just lucky, and I simply don't use any of the apps that don't work, who knows. I did spend a great deal of time when I initially received the phone, learning what I could completely and safely uninstall with universal-android-debloater. There isn't much China left in my phone at all! lol
The Fold 2 is actually one of the best phones I have ever owned, and it has sold me on the fold concept completely. It runs smooth and silky with amazing battery life. I have owned a great many phones too, I tend to get the upgrade itch quite a bit!
Compared to the old Xiaomi phones of the last ten years or so, debloating stock and staying locked really is the best and simplest option for me. It seems most of the apps can be totally removed without the "boot loop" and "hey nice brick" scenario you would have run into not so long ago.
And I won't go near any .EU rom ever again, those mods are a bunch of....

Well my bootloader is locked. So there's the main difference. Of course things will detect the unlocked bootloader. It's a non secure environment.
As for the apps, maybe getapps is updating them instead of the playstore, or your MIUI account has its region set to China? It's never happened to me so I couldn't say for sure.

Hi, Everyone
I am new to buy a xiaomi phone and use in Canada.
I plan to buy an either 12s Ultra or 13 Ultra from China, and likely it may come with Chinese ROM.
Canadian friends and users of Chinese ROM in Canada, will my phone receive OTA update in Canada?
I know there are tutorials to unlock bootloader and flash global rom. I am not familiar with it and won't do it as soon as I got my phone.
Please let me know
Thanks all
there is no global rom for this model, the solution is to use a Xiaomi Eu rom.
Also check coverage according to your carrier.

I got my 13u on Thursday last week and have used it for few days.
It is a good device.
I can confirm VPN works. I tested NordVPN.
I didn't use banking app because it is better staying on my other phone. I have bought chinese phone in the past, GT NEO 2 and banking apps worked on it. So I am not concerned.
Also, I find installing google play store is very easy. Google play store exists in mi app store. Click and update is it takes to install play store.
I find widgets are way better than samsung andriod phone i have used in the past, much more varieties to explore.
Only point bothers me is phone shape.
Camera module on the back and a curve around the middle makes phone awkward to hold at first. Need some to adjust to it.
This is not a deal breaker for me.
Let me know you want to know anything else about it.
Thanks for the update, great to hear that you got it, and quickly too. How is 5g reception and are the cameras all they are made out to be ?...except obviously the selfie cam... not that i'm much of a selfier anyway. Did it come with a screen protector installed ? Have you noticed any adds ? Nobody on youtube has mentioned it but I heard xiaomi phones in the past suffered from that.

1. 5G: I am on a carrier doesn't offer 5g.
2. Camera: I am not proficient in photography knowledge. This comment comes from an average user. I like this camera. It is very snappy and responsive. Good to catch that quick moment. I took some photos of my black dog. It looks good. Dog at the center and background blurs makes it great. I am not a selfie guy either. Haven't tried selfie at all.
3. Screen protector: Yes it comes with a pre-install one. Also, it has a plastics case.
4. Ads: not so much ads surprisingly. There are ads in mi app store. When I install an app, bottom of screen will show suggested apps. They disappear in few seconds. Not a deal breaker to me for two reasons. Suggested apps don't stay long on the screen, and I mainly use play store.
I also want to mention bloatware apps. I am a bit surprised by this one. It comes with many pre-installed apps that are definitely not relevant or useful. However, I can uninstall them just like any regular apps. So far I have uninstalled almost all of them except pre-installed keyboards, and there are three of them. It is redundant.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you have more questions. I am more happy to answer.
Thanks very much.
I've had the ultra 12s for 9 months. I've kept the Chinese ROM as I don't feel like doing all the changes for EU from. Updates and everything works great except for Android Auto which is mildly frustrating but not a deal breaker. 5G works great, I just find that QR codes don't always work for some strange reason. Besides that it's been a fantastic phone and the UI is pretty good. I am happy to hear about the Global version of 13s Ultra. Not sure if I'll upgrade, but overall he phone has been about perfect.
