Downloaded and installed Flashtool (0.9.19.10) but cannot find Firmware Folder?? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys.
Today I downloaded and installed Flashtool (0.9.19.10). I then browsed to C:/Flashtool and here there is no Firmware folder, therefore I cannot add the FTF for flashing. All I see is:
customer (folder)
drivers (folder)
x10flasher_lib (folder)
FlashTool
FlashTool64
stdout
uninstall
x10flasher
Where is the Firmware folder? Am I missing something? Could my Anti-Virus be deleting the Firmware folder?
I see a link for Patch (0.9.19.10). Do I need to install this patch? If so, how do I install it?
I need to downgrade my current firmware build, so that I can root my Sony Xperia Z3, in order to enable USB ports, amongst other tweaks I want to do.
Apologies if my question has been asked, however I have searched the net, and could not find an answer.
Also, I have read that there may be driver issues, once I get passed this current problem. Therefore, I am pre-empting by asking for instructions on how to install the correct drivers for Sony Xperia Z3.
Phone: Sony Xperia Z3
PC: HP Elitebook 6930p
Operating System: Windows 10
Your advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

1. Yes you have to copy/ replace the old firmware (x10flasher_lib) with Patch (0.9.19.10)
2 The firmware folder is in C:/users/"comp. name"/.flash tool/firmwares----- the ftf file is to be placed there.
3 Good news: you don't have to downgrade now, the latest (NewKingrootV4.80) will root the phone in lollipop 5.1.1 (tried and tested).

Kingoroot also copies and sends your imei number to somewhere in China.

Thanks guys for your valuable advice.
Ideally, I would like to use the NewKingRoot application method. However, this leads to the obvious question - What is the safest way to root my device, Downgrading firmware with Flashtool or using NewKingroot application?
Are there any other 'safe' root applications that can be used for Sony Xperia Z3?
Appreciate your help guys.

Your best bet is to go to kitkat, use giefroot rooting tool, use xz dual recovery tool, then flash a Rom with root and recovery or create a pre rooted ftf with Flashtool/xperifirm. Theres tons of guides around to help you.

Brilliant.
Thanks guys for your advice.
Will be looking at KitKat and Giefroot, although Kingroot is tempting.
A noob question - "What is the purpose of the xz dual recovery tool?"
I was under the impression that all that was needed is the rooted firmware flashed using flashtool.
Are these the steps i need to follow: (please correct me if i am wrong)
Download a rootable firmware D6603_23.0.A.2.93
Flash this firmware using Flashtool
Run Giefroot to root my Xperia Z3
Cheers.

You cannot flash a rooted firmware with flashtool..
The recovery is what you use to flash pre-rooted firmwares in the form a .zip file.
Before you use kingroot you should do your research. During the process it will send your IMEI number to an ip address in china.
I suggest flashing a KK FTF with flashtool, root using giefroot, install recovery then flash any pre-rooted firmware you want in recovery.

All links are in the post below, but you cant use androplus kernel unless you have an unlocked bootloader.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64989951&postcount=4

Really appreciate the info and links guys.
Unfortunately I am not able to get past the driver Flashtool driver installation.
I select Flashmode Drivers, Fastboot Driver and Xperia Z3 Device Driver, then select install.
I then get the red ticks next to Sony Net, Google Inc, Sony Ericsson.
Bear in mind, my PC is on Windows 10. Is Windows 10 supported for Flashtool? Do I have to deactivate something in Win10, like in Win8?
This is so frustrating!
Please help!

That should fix it. Feel free to hit the thanks button under helpful posts.

Really appreciate all the help you guys have provided so far.
Now I've got a new problem.
All I am trying to do is enable to HS-USB ports (diag, serial, modem) on the Windows 10 machine, so that I can ADB into my Sony Xperia Z3.
Device Manager is displaying exclamation marks next to several entries of D6603 (see attached screenshot).
So guys this is what I have done so far:
I downloaded the Z3 drivers from http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-z3-driver/
In Device Manager I right clicked on the first D6603 entry and pointed to the Z3 drivers and tried to install the driver but it is not recognised? This happens with the other D6603 entries too. I know I am doing something stupidly wrong here.
Where do I go from here? This is really frustrating.
I also installed Sony PC Companion but that has not helped.
Once again, I am asking for any help to fix this seemingly simple (difficult for me) task.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys.
This is so frustrating.
I have stumbled across another problem. On Windows 10 device manager, I can see several entries of D6603 each with an exclamation mark. I guess this is because of Z3 (D6603) drivers?? Well, I downloaded Z3 drivers from the Sony developers site, however the drivers are not recognised??
I need to activate the HS-USB ports so that I can ADB. Am I using the correct drivers?
Does anyone know, how I can overcome this please?
Also, is there a particular place win Windows, where you have to extract the Z3 drivers to, like System32?
After reading on the net, I may have to do the following:
adb devices
adb shell
su
/system/bin/port-bridge /dev/smd0 /dev/ttyGS0 & setprop persist.usb.eng 1
And this should start the automatic usb driver installation on Windows?? Can anyone confirm this is the correct procedure?
Thanks in advance.

I too am running Windows 10. You have to go into recovery - advanced - startup and select "disable signed driver check" (or something like that) then you can install drivers etc.
The firmware folder is now under (users - username - flashtool)
If you use xperifirm the ftf file creations will automatically go to the right location

Hi gwithrow.
Thanks for your advice.
I went into recovery on my pc and selected "Disable signed driver.........", However, still when I connect my Xperia Z3, there is no automatic driver prompt or installation??
So I decided to start again today:
Downloaded and flashed firmware version 23.0.A.2.93 for D6603.
Ticked the following - USB debugging, Allow mock locations and Unknown sources.
Unticked Verify apps.
Downloaded giefroot tool v3.1.
Rooted Xperia Z3 successfully.
Downloaded ES file explorer and mount /system rw successfully.
Downloaded z3 Dualrecovery and installed ndr utils successfully, Xperia Z3 rebooted to twrp.
(Should I upgrade now to D6603_23.4.A.1.200_Generic-UK_dualrecovery2.8.21_SuperSU-v2.46.zip and install with twrp?)
Using USB cable, I connected Xperia Z3 to my pc and still no driver prompt or automatic installation??
All I want to do is activate the HS-USB Android Diag/Serial ports.
Is there another way to do this??
Am I missing something?
I downloaded the drivers from the Sony and Google sites. However, the drivers are of no use if the PC does not prompt for them!
Any help would be appreciated.

GoClever r83 rooting procedure
Hi folks,
Here is rooting procedure that worked for me. (PC OS used for this instruction is Windows 7 x64, Tablet GoClever R83).
A word of disclaim. I will not be held responsive for any bricked tablets, sad faces, or elephant tears...
You're doing this at your own risk. Because it worked for me doesn't mean it will work for you. But on the other hand, i'm pretty sure it will :victory:
Let begin,
PC:
1. Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947147 and search for GoClever 7500 Root.zip. Download it.
Let me explain a bit why GoClever 7500... archive, to avoid possible confusion and raising questions. Before rooting you should install Google USB driver from Android SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html) which can be downloaded from the net for free. Unfortunately our device doesn't get recognized with latest driver from latest ASDK, and that's the reason we're downloading drivers for another GoClever tablet which we'll use for our rooting.
2. Unpack the archive, and remember the location where you extracted. (e.g. c:\temp)
3. Install UnlockRoot Pro - http://www.unlockroot.com/download.html (free download)
Tablet:
4. Go to Settings->Developer options->Turn on Usb debugging
5. Go to Settings->Security->Turn on Unknown sources
6. Connect PC and Tablet via USB cable.
PC:
7. Go to Device Manager, and update device driver from: c:\temp\GoClever 7500 Root\Drivers
8. Start Unlockroot Pro. Click on large Root button, it will say that device is already rooted, but you confirm anyways. After a shortwhile it will ask if you want to reboot. Do reboot.
9. Please be patient, and wait for tablet to load up... and... congratulations! You're rooted!
You can check if you rooted successfully with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en

No need to use modified adb.exe from unknown sources. Regular adb from Android SDK can recognize your ADB driver if you append line with text
0x2270
to %USERPROFILE%/.android/adb_usb.ini file
0x2270 is vendor id of ‘Android ADB Interface’ USB Device.

unlocking bootloader

Hi i am a newbie and i am really noob , i am having problems on unlocking bootloader for my arc s after i unzip the fast boot i dont know hw to place the file ; i dont know what is about in this procedure -> . Make sure you are running Google USB Driver package revision 4 or higher in your Android SDK. You can see current Google USB Driver package revision in the SDK Manager.
Place the unzipped file in the usb_driver folder, located in the Android SDK > extras > google folder on your computer. Accept to replace the old android_winusb.inf-file with the new file. If you can't find the usb_driver folder, please install the Google USB Driver Packager using the Android SDK manager.
For this you will have to install Android sdk software package or adt bundle on ur pc.
After installing u can find that folder specified.
Sorry, the information was not clear about what u did, whether u installed it already or not. I replied considering u to be a complete noob.
If there is no such folder after installation as said u ll have to manually install the google usb drivers which are of most importance through sdk manager which is inbuilt in the android sdk.
All the best
Hit thanks rather than typing it

[SOLVED]Xperia L Drivers And ADB Problems

Hi there
I have seen some posts where users are having difficulty connecting Xperia L to their PC or ADB. Therefore, I am writing this guide to help you all.
The guide was prepared using Windows 7 Ultimate but should work with Windows XP and Windows 8.
Firstly, Sony uses a different driver for their Xperia devices and therefore, sometimes you are unable to install drivers for your devices especially for ADB commands.
IF YOU ARE LUCKY
There are few ways to get around to install drivers for your device. The most convenient and easy is you plug in your device and wait for automatic detection of your device. Make sure you have USB connected as MTP in MY XPERIA in SETTINGS of your phone. The device drivers would be automatically installed by Windows update.
METHOD
If suppose you can not install your drivers, connect your xperia and then on your PC, go to My computer > Properties>Device Manager.
You should see an undetected hardware with a yellow exclamation mark over it. Open it and click on update my drivers. Then choose GOOGLE DRIVERS by choosing hard-drive. This should install the drivers for you. If this doesnot work. Try the attachment with the post where the drivers are modified to work with Sony Xperia Devices.
Follow the same steps but this time choose the attachment folder to search for drivers. It might say, the drivers are not verified. Just Ignore it and carry on installing them. You will need to unzip these files.
IF suppose you do not see any exclamation mark while you connect your xperia. Just go to control panel and add new hardware. Select, I will choose my device and then install from hard-disk. Select the folder where you have unzipped the files and you are good to go. The name of new hardware is not important as windows will read the drivers files and install drivers for Xperia.
This will install all drivers for your device. If there are two or more drivers while installing them. Redo the steps and install all of them individually.
Suppose your ADB still doesnot work, then
FOR ADB DRIVERS :
Download the ADB Universal Drivers and connect your device. Then hit install. The ADB drivers will be automatically detected and installed.
Further, if these tricks fail, you can delete the unknown driver from your control panel and then try finding it again by using refresh button(scan for new hardware changes) in device manager.
Another trick is to click on unknown drivers and delete them. Connect your phone and restart your phone. Then scan for new hardware in device manager. The drivers should be installed for your device.
If still there are some problems, I will try to help you out.

UPDATE :
Use flashtool drivers to install adb/fastboot/flashboot drivers. This is the most simplest and easiest method I have come across lately.
Simply download flashtool
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
Go to folder where you have downloaded it. Usually C:/flashtool/drivers.
Select the drivers for your particular device. I use universal for all three types of drivers. It is helpful to boot into fastboot/Flashtool before installing the drivers but not necessarily.
Good Luck

Did you try the attached drivers ?
I am just wondering you might hadnot turned USB debugging or disabled MTP mode or something you might have done to your kernel/ROM that might have changed the environment of your phone which factory reset reverted back. These drivers are NOT the drivers for connecting your device to your PC. These are used when you are unlocking your bootloader or working with ADB/fastboot commands.
Thanks for your contribution about how it worked for you and it might help others who might have a problem!
you can use ADB Wireless

For a second when I looked at your images, I was just baffled. THOSE MANY UNKNOWN DEVICES! That can't be right you know.
There must be only ONE unknown device that ought to be installed as mentioned above in my post.
Do you see these devices when you connect your phone to your PC or those unknown devices are already there?
Have you tried windows update to fix it?
Tell me more about why you see so many devices.
If suppose, they are already there, just see which device comes up when you connect your phone and try installing drivers for that particular device.
Also, i suggest just go for add a new device and then select hard disk and then install drivers which are attached. I hope that fixes your problem.
REMEMBER your device must be connected when you are trying to install the drivers
right.i'm gonna give it a try, wish me luck. thanks!

just go to device manager, connect phone and find ur not recognized device; then right click on it and press update/install drivers. From the window that will appear choose socond option (it should be something like manualy find drivers or something like that), then navigate to that downloaded folder. This way it should install them
But XL doesnt need any external drivers. If u install fasboot an flashmode drivers from flashtool folder they should work; they are working for me and for anyone i know. U may also install SEUS and then connect phone. This way u dont need that drivers, but ofc what i have mentioned earlier should work.

Hi
well first thing you need to understand is there are three drivers you need to install to make everything work including fastboot , flashboot, and Xperia L storage and SD card.
To install each type of drivers, you must have the phone in that particular state. To install normal drivers (for mass storage and PC companion), if suppose not detected automatically, you need to turn on your phone and then unlock it. Then see if drivers are found or not!
If the windows give you the error like undetectable device attached, go to my computers and then properties and the device manager and look for any device with an exclamation mark (yellow).
click on it and then select update drivers and use drivers that have been attached in the first post. (Remember to extract the attachment in a folder)
Then click on select drivers from hard drive (click manual installation of drivers )
and locate the folder where you have extracted drivers. This will install drivers!
if you want drivers for flashmode/fastboot, turn off phone and boot into flashmode and then install drivers as I mentioned above.
I'm quite certain they wouldn't trouble you at all. If you still need help, do not hesitate to ask !
Good luck
P.S: You will need to enable developers option and select USB debugging to root your device. I hope you are doing that right !

you must boot your phone in fast boot mode. turn off your phone and hold down volume down when you connect it to the PC!
Use flashtool to flash ftf file. you'll need to place ftf file in C:/flashtool/firmwares
then select the right file for xperia L and just flash ftf.
in flash tool , select flash n then fastboot and then I'll ask you to put your phone in fast boot (use method mentioned above)
good luck !
I have tried all your methods
but I keep getting this error message "An error occurred during the installation of the device"
I am using windows xp sp3
please help

Help with drivers for Xperia Z3 for flashtool

I want to flash my xperia Z3 (Android 4.4.4) kernel from 23.0.1.A.1.49 to 23.0.A.2.93, but I have problems getting the drivers, I can't get the drivers directly from flashtool because error happens, so I tried to download the drivers from Sony's website, but that dont worked neither (is the folder called "Xperia™ Z3" that I put in Flashtool > drivers)

Windows 10 seems to not allow unsigned drivers. Which is a huge pain in the ass... I'm sure there must be a workaround. My workaround was installing Windows 7 on my notebook.

This might help:
a. Press the Win + C and click on PC settings.
b. Switch over to the “Update & recovery” section.
c. Then click on the Recovery option on the left hand side.
d. Once selected, you will see an advanced startup section appear on the right hand side. You will need to click on the “Restart now” button.
e. Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option.
f. Then head into Advanced options.
g. Then Startup Settings.
h. Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your computer one last time.
I. Here you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key.

Where can I get the drivers for the Xperia Z5 to Flashtools?

Where can I get the drivers for the Xperia Z5 to Flashtools?
Looks like they don't exist yet, although it still works fine with the fastboot drivers. I have flashed mine using 0.9.19.10

you have to install default drivers from Flashtool folder installed files: [Drive:]\Flashtool\drivers\Flashtool-drivers.exe
Flashtool is using his own good drivers and they are different from normal mtp, storage etc drivers for Windows.
also you have to pay attention if you're running windows 8 or above because you have to install all those drivers by disabling driver signature verification, using advanced startup (you’re going to need to get into the Troubleshooting options from the boot manager > change windows startup behavior).
after that everything it will be fine in fastboot mode.
have fun :good:

...or here.
If you're running Windows 8 or 10 64-bit (most likely), don't forget to disable Driver Signature Enforcement (http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/) before installating the drivers, otherwise the installation will fail.

Many thanks for the tip! Had disabled!
Just select both during install, I normally choose three, these two plus the phone specific

Sorry, but still I did not understand. You can not choose Flashmode and Fastboot at the same time.
No install them all (I do all three as mentioned), you are correct can only use one mode during flashing
