Bootable sd card for 4.4.2 android - Android General

Does any one know how to create an sd card that allows me to boot from it on my tablet. the goal is to boot from the sd card with files and file manager on the same sd card. when done with my edits and file management I want to take out the sd card which leaves the original tablet OS as it was before.

[Q] How to restore back SD card size after installing image file

Hi,
I accidentally wrote the SDCard CM7 installer image file (version 1.3) for Nook on a 512M microSd card using WinImage. It only shows about 200M under windows now. How can I restore the microSD card back to the original size using Windows?
Thanks
Anyone knows the answer?
Reformatting SD card under Windows
The HPUSBFW.exe format utility will reformat your SD card to its original size. I found the utility via Google.
I am running into the same issue while trying to create a bootable CM7 card for my Nook Color. If I use WinImage (Restore virtual drive image) or Win32DiskImager to write the generic SD card image to my SD card, the resulting size is a bit less than 130MB. I can copy the CM7 and Google Apps ZIP files to the card with little space left over. My NC will boot from the card and attempt to install CM7 and the Google apps, but installation will eventually fail because no space is left on the device. Subsequently my NC will no longer boot from the SD card and boots into the Nook Reader instead.
If I use WinImage and manually choose the SD card image and destination drive, I can write the image to the SD card without changing the partition size. However, my NC cannot boot from the resulting image.
I'm at a loss.
SD CARD
Thank You, I was able to recover my SD Card.

[Q] 1 or 2 sd

my tablet has an internal and external memory, on my external i have CWM and other files i need but everytime i boot it goes to CWM cause my tablet reads off the sd, so i bought a 2nd sd card, will it be safe to use it and just swap back to the old one if i need to update cyan? or will it confuse the device?
If your tablet boots off of your external SD card I don't think you can remove it without causing some kind of error.
I would recommend moving whatever it needs to boot to your internal memory so you can freely switch out SD cards for media or whatever purpose you'd like.

Recover v5.5.04 roach shows only files on tablet

Hi,
I am trying to install a ROM (Revolver) but when I boot into recovery and select "chose zip from SD card" it only show files like Alarm\, Android\, and application folders on the tablet and not the contents of the microSd card. Does anyone know what is going on and how I can get to the .zip files on the microSD card?
Thanks,
Jerry
That version of recovery doesn't read external SD cards, only internal, you'll need to upgrade to Rouge XM or another that supports external.

Can't Install Healthy .ZIP file from SD Card

Long Version:
----------------------------------
Hello. I was preparing for a full wipe of my phone (Galaxy S3 i9300) for a clean flash for my next ROM. So I did was I got a SD Card Reader and plugged my SD Card in and put it in a laptop to copy the files, while suddenly, my SD Card got corrupted. I tried to format the SD Card with the same SD Card Reader (not knowing the Card Reader was faulty) but it made things worse. So, I took a different Card Reader, and formatted the SD Card and now all seems well. Until, when I put the .ZIP file in the SD Card, put the SD Card on my phone, and install .ZIP from SD Card on my phone using TWRP (2.8.6.1), it displays the error "E: Zip file is corrupt!" So naturally, I restarted the phone into recovery, formatted the SD Card using TWRP, changed the file system to FAT (vfat) and it displays the error "E: Unknown MTP message type: 1", then I tried repairing the file system, and it was successful. So I did was put the .ZIP in the SD Card again and try it again, with no luck.
I have already used all of these to format the SD Card and the phone still thinks the .ZIP file from the SD Card is corrupted:
Diskpart
Chkdsk
EaseUs Master Partition
Windows Format
SD Formatter (v4.0)
---------------------------------------
TL;DR
Phone got fully wiped, SD Card got corrupted while transfering files because of faulty Card Reader, SD Card got formatted a lot of times, Finally got the SD Card running, but now, if I put it inside the phone, it thinks the .ZIP File from the SD Card is corrupted.
What should I do?
p.s. (I already downloaded the same .ZIP file multiple times to make sure it was healthy, and it is)

Yes, the .zip file does work. I can open it on my pc
Sadly, I can't get a new SD Card. Mainly because I need this SD Card because it is a 32GB SDHC Class 10 SanDisk SD Card, and it's not cheap to get a new replacement (of the same SD Card).
I would like to know how to fix this corrupted SD Card. Because everytime I plug it into my PC (and use Windows Check Drive for Errors, and Chkdsk) and find there's no errors. And then when I finished placing the files into the SD Card, when I plug it the next time, everything got corrupted, but Windows still does not detect any errors on the drive..... wut

Copy paste via USB cable? The ZIP might be corrupted in a way that the script is broken or somehing. Try copypasting the file via USB and if that doesn't work download a different ZIP.

Default Download Location To SD Card?

Hello, as the title insists, I would like to know if there is a way to have my downloads save directly to my SD card. I have my pictures set there but I want my Chrome downloads to automatically download to my SD.
I know you can format the SD card as internal storage in Marshmallow but that really defeats the purpose that I want it to do.
I need to be able to download straight to the SD WITHOUT ENCRYPTING MY SD CARD. So I can easily put the SD card with downloaded files to my computer.
I'm running Cyanogenmod 13 6.0.1 rooted.
Someone please help!
