How to root a phone that's bootloader cannot be unlocked?? - Sony Xperia M2

when i go into service info, my phone says "bootloader unlock allowed: no"
so is there any way to root without an unlocked bootloader??
thanks

Yes, you have two ways.
1. To flash KK ftf root it than flash preroted LP zip
2. Flash LP ftf, use KingRoot, replace it with SuperSuMe
Search M2 threads you'll find more.
Good Luck!

Bootloader unlocking problem!!!

Im trying to unlock bootloader and got error!
Im on 18.3.C.0.37 4.4.2 firmware
FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
finished. total time: 0.102s
Where is problem?
Have you checked to see if it is unlockable. It does say bootloader unlock allowed: yes, in the service menu because if it says bootloader unlock allowed: no then it can't be unlocked ever. I think I'm right in saying that sim free handsets are usually unlockable and carrier/network locked devices are usually locked down. My m2 is unlocked to use any network and mine bootloader is unlockable.

Yes on every reboot I checked and it says Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes

Have you enabled USB Debugging?
Send the whole log if you can.
Yes! But i forget to menton that im restored my TA partition early to lock bootloader again!
does it affect unlocking afterwards?

Hmm... I don't know, because I lost my TA Partition when unlocked bootloader :silly: But I think that's not a problem, just try again.
I tried but still the same error
And if I do enter command again its says. "remote: Device already rooted"
But service menu says "Bootloader unlock allowed: YES"
And I just tried to flash kernel via Rashr and it worked I think. I flashed stock kernel over stock (Created backup Stock and flashed Stock kernel)
One thing would be like service menu tells wrong info...
Im looking info from peole who has advenced knowledge or faced same problem

Try with Flashtool, they use Sony's official unlock code, and it will tell you if you have unlocked bootloader or not.
Xperia M2 D2303 on K.K. 4.4.4
It still not work i tried another pc but still says "remote:command did not succeed"
Drivers connot be a problem. I think something is wrong with my TA or Cusomization...
Try if PC Companion can fix it, if it's something messed up it will tell you that your phone is modified. Yesterday i unlocked Xperia E with Flashtool. It was 5 minutes job. You doing something wrong, but you'll get it.
Xperia M2 D2303 on K.K. 4.4.4
Not sure if this is the case, but I've read you can't re-lock the bootloader if you have a custom kernel (or ROM) installed. Or better, you should be able to, but then the phone won't boot.
I would try flashing the whole stock ROM and then try to lock it again. At least as a test.
But if PCC says im modified how can i fit it then

Bootloader Locked

Hi everyone,
I'm a beginner in this area. I want to install the Lollipop makeover ROM on my Xperia E3 D2203. For what I have read in some threads, to flash a ROM I need to have my phone rooted and then I have to unlock my bootloader... I don't know if it's possible to unlock my bootloader because when I dial *#*#7378423#*#* Service Info > Configuration, it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: No".
Can I still unlock my bootloader? Or is it another way to flash the ROM without unlocking bootloader?
Please HELP!!!!!!!
u can root and use xposed for u need. About custom rom, forget ,on "bootloader unlock=no" ,no recovery,no custom rom. For root read this,http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-e3/general/root-xperia-e3-d2203-locked-bl-t3075559. good luck!
For custom rom unlock booloader first

hello Guys,
ive got an M2 (D2303) sice 2 Weeks with Stock Lollipop 5.1.1
BL unlocked allowed = YES
But Sony dev says "Important note! In order to unlock your Xperia™ M2 you need to be on software version 18.3.C.0.37"
My M2 works with 18.6.A.0.182.
need to root the Phone for a Special App which Needs root permission.
Question, whats the way, if there is one, to unlock my Bootloader for rooting the device.

You can root your phone without unlock the bootloader.
You can unlock the bootloader in Any versión (i did in lollipop) you can do it with Sony way or with flashtool
thanks for reply!
can you tell me what is the easiest way to root my M2 with Lollipop? how do you did it?
so the bootloader unlock is only need for flashing Custom-Roms?

The easiest way is in this case NOT the safest way! KingRoot should do the trick on 18.6.A.0.182 FW but it also sends your phones IMEI to a cloud in China. I wouldn't recommend it!
I did it like this:
1. Use XperiFirm to download and FlashTool to create (e.g.) D2303_18.3.1.C.1.17_CE.ftf [4.4.4 Kitkat] (or search on this forum for it)
2. Flash: (e.g.) D2303_18.3.1.C.1.17_CE.ftf with FlashTool
3. Unzip & use: rootkitXperia_20150926-20151005.zip to root
4. Unzip & use: XperiaM2-MultiRecovery-PhilZ-TWRP-CWM-0.8.zip to install multi-recovery
5. Use XperiFirm to download and FlashTool to create 18.6.A.0.182 FW FTF for your D2303, country and provider (or a customized version)
6. Use PRFCreator, UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip and XperiaM2-MultiRecovery-PhilZ-TWRP-CWM-0.8-flashable.zip to create flashable pre-rooted zip with multi-recovery
7. Reboot into TWRP recovery (when the cyan led glows push/press Volume UP)
8. Flash flashable pre-rooted zip with multi-recovery (using TWRP)
9. Flash zip: ric_disabler-flashable.zip in case you don't have full root access (using TWRP)
Before you begin make sure you have downloaded all needed files and made a backup from all your important phone data!
so the bootloader unlock is only need for flashing Custom-Roms?

That is correct. But please read this carefully before you want to unlock the bootloader!
Succes... and don't forget to click on the Thanks! button if you want to thank me.
You Can Root Via Kingroot And Than Replace Kingroot To SuperSU. I Did It For My LB M2 Aqua 182 Firmware And Works Fine. Root Via Kingroot Link Is Here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/general/news-root-xperia-m2-kingrootlollipop-t3242654 And How To Replace Kingroot To SuperSU Here:http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html?m=1 When You Root Your Smartphone, Finaly Don't Forget RIC Disabler. Download RIC Disabler zip File To Your PC Extract It, Connect Your Smartphone To PC Via USB. Check USB Debug Is ON. Then Tap RIC Disabler's Setup.exe In Your PC While Your Smartphone Is Connected And Follow The Instruction. Here Is RIC Disabler Link: http://sergiocastell.com/ftf/ric_disabler.zip

To check unlock status:
Dial: *#*#7378423#*#*
Go to Service info>Configuration rooting status should say rooted (or something )
2. You can't use Xposed on phone (search M2 forum for more)
3. Eagle root is safer, you can ask questions there for more information.
Good Luck!

Unable to unlock bootloader?

Hi, I have a Tipo s21i.
Looking to flash a custom rom and possibly root. Although looking through a few guides it says I need to unlock bootloader. But when I go on service menu suggested on sony website it says my bootloader is not unlockable.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader to install custom roms?
If so what can I do to do it as it says its not unlockable?
Thanks
First check if your bootloader can be unlocked. Open Phone and dial *#*#7378423#*#*
Service Menu should appear, go to service info, Customization Settings, at the end if Rooting Status: Bootloader unlock allow No you can't unlock bootloader. If it's missing you can't unlock it. If it is said Yes you can. You can use Flashtool or official Sony way to unlock it. Search XDA there are plenty tutorials on how to.
Good Luck!
