dead s6? black screen and blue led blinking - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my s6 worked fine last night, had over 50% battery life, i went sleep,
this morning the phone wont wake up, having a black screen and a blue led blinking(5s) .
i pluged it to the charger, no led for charging shows, puting it ontop of the wireless charger, the charger change its color to blue, but the phone still on black screen and the blue led blinking...
i tried the hard reset :
* vol down + power(to simulate the battery removal)
* vol down+ vol up + power
*vol down/up +home +power
....all possible combinaisons
but no hope.
what can i do?
i'm on 5.1.1 and stock rom not rooted.

Have You tried booting to ODIN/download mode?

euh nope, there is no recovery or download mod , it stacks on black screen+ blue led blinking

Since it's stock rom non root, throw back to samsung service center and blame on hardware failure, faulty battery or whichever reason to justify.
Most probably you will get free replacement if its hardware failure with no water damage or sign of dropped.
Loving 14nm Exynos 7420

thanks for replay,
not sure for this, i don't have a warranty for it..

Something similar happened to my sister's S5 before. Turned out to be a broken display panel caused by a 1-2mm hair scratch/crack on the display. Check your display under bright light and hope there's no damage.

no man, it's not related to screen, if so , at least i can connect it to my pc or have an orange led when charging... it's simply frozen and can't do anything of:
-simulate battery pull
-download mod
....

Hi i replaced the screen on my asus but now it wont power on. Orange light flashes twice when plugged in. Left plugged in overnight in case it was dead, still nothing. Just the two orange flashes. Any ideas?

Means the device is not charging. You either forgot to plug in the battery or turn on the service switch. Can you turn it on while plugged in?

Look at the attached thumb. The area circled red is where the switch is. It's mounted on the other side, but if you look closely, you'll see "off" and "on" printed right below the board's edge. Use a toothpick to gently slide it to "off." Don't force it or you might break the black plastic. Then lift the shield off (I assume you're out of warranty, as removing the shield would void it otherwise), disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, reconnect it, make sure it fits snugly, then turn the switch to "on" again. Then charge it. I deliberately avoid discussing other possibilities to keep it simple, assuming that the tab was working fine before the touchscreen broke.

Problem with the backlight

Hi! Two days ago, my phone dropped in water , i put them immediately in rice until today. When start it with the power button, i felt the vibration and i hear the open sound. But the screen remains black... but i discover that it was just the backlight because when i watch the screen under a lamp i can see the interface and slide between pages... but its very dark. Is it possible to change this backlight? or just wait few other days to allow time to dry fully. I welcome your suggestions! thanks

When there's water involved, IT's hard to know exactly what damaged. Could be just stain on the ribbon connectors, a burned fuse/diode/resistor (all of them micro sized) etc.. or just the LCD's backlight damaged entirely.
Keep it on rice for more time. I would make the battery to discharge to 0%, But it's also more recommended to keep the phone OFF. Only my friend LUCK knows.
To change the backlight, the whole screen needs to be changed.
Backlight died on me. Possible moisture.
First, it was on boot loop (on stock rom)
i went to restart it (holding power button and volume down)
then the screen turned bright white, restarted it and then the backlight died, dismantled the phone, now still in rice, also happened on 2nd April.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Took it apart down to the Screen (not the screen layers), left it in rice, works like a brand new now. Cheers.
I just replace all the frame and lcd for a new on my nexus 5, but the problem was still there... no backlight, i can see a little bit the screen, but it's very dark... do you have any idea for try to repair this, because now i don't think that it's the screen but more a motherboard or power problem for the backlight :S
exactly same problem here
nexus 5 phone dropped in water.
Backlight went out permanently - rice didn´t help.
Can see the display working using a flashlight - so rest of the phone seems to be working ok.
Just pruchased a new screen, put it all in and still the same problem: display works, touch works, backlight is off.
So it seems the backlight part of the display receives no power - anybody has an idea how to fix that?
thanks
I have answer to this!
I have had this problem like 3 months now and i finally fixed it.
Basically what i did was that i bought a broken nexus 5 (only the screen glass was broken) and tried to swap every part one by one. The one that was not working was the main dock!
It is a cheap fix, like 10£ on Ebay.
I am writing this post because anyone else haven't.
I hope that someone sees this.
I now copy this message to all other threads so people can fix their nexus 5's
PS:as you can probably tell English isn't my first language.
Hello! I am having the same problem. The cell phone fell to the floor and the next day the problem began. The display is not broken.
What are you taking about when you say "main dock"? Motherboard aka mainboard?
Thanks!

not totally yellow but a yellow tint though it doesnt affect image quality in any way but it just gives less bright images in dark than it should be
There is no yellow tint in my flash or flashlight. It's quite white.
Aside:The yellow flash is the enemy of the red flash.

Black Screen Of Death

Hi All
Has anyone had any issues with a black screen?
Everything else works like incoming calls and notifications but the screen it totally black!
Woke up early hours last night and noticed no AOD so tried to turn my phone on but the screen was just dead. Tried the volume and power button but still no joy
Power it down completely then plug in the charger.
If nothing shows on the screen it sounds like you lost some significant hardware... maybe just a connector.

Same happened to my SM-N9860 unit when I woke up today. I about to unlock and the display suddenly went black screen. Did everything but no luck. I am also sure it's the display that's f***d up. The phone is still working - I can still access it in Dex and Link to Windows. This is my second Samsung phone with f**d up display for unknown reason. This is crap Samsung. Not expecting for this from an expensive flagship smartphone. I swear this is the last.

By the way, how did you fix your phone?
I tried searching it on the net, seems a number of Note 20 ultra units are experiencing the same.

Seems that display replacement is the only fix.

Poor parts QC.
Samsung will substitute components and smaller chipsets in the middle of a production run. This can lead to unpredictable behavior especially after firmware updates... or outright failures like this.
Not reassuring especially with a flagship phone.

hi im facing exact same thing in my N986 B Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. I had 10 percent battery left. i had put phone on charge and saw after 20 minutes and tghe screen was black.
Now its blackscreen can connect with tv via hdmi dex mode
but phone restarts after 10 minutes.
the touch seems fine as mouse function works phone is on but no display
can you tell exactly what you did when your phone revieved after one day
did u keep it on. charge all tiime tried reset or removed charging
or nothing and tried after 1 day
Edit After 24 hours of tapping slappingrebooting installing stock firmware. my display came back alive.
last thing was i was using phone in dex mode and trying to open close camera app rapidly by direct touch on screen. i dont know what worked but it saved my 300 dollars of screen replacement
I have exactly the same issue.
I was typing on whatsapp when suddenly screen get black. It was on friday morning. Notifications were ok, voice commands too. Touchscreen ok, I could use it normally when using my TV as screen with HDMI cable or with my notebook, when connected to windows or even Dex.
One day earlier I had an issue with the new magisk update. I freeze magisk manager wich was force closing but later, I managed to reinstall with dex and was working fine. Not sure if it's related.
I already flashed fresh stock Android R rom, wich I thought would solve any issues related to magisk or any other software issue.
24h after flash stock rom and keep force rebooting and taping, and my display is still dead.
Tried to tap, slap, shake (I can her some noise next to camera module when shaking, is it normal? I took off S-pen and microsd tray to see if it was the cause, but the noise still persists). No damage, water, or anything else. Only 2 months of use.
Display is still dead.
I'm draining battery now with some apps that also vibrate phone, to see what happens when full drained.
I live in Manaus/Brazil and repair centers are not working until March 23 because of Sars-CoV2. And my knox is tripped. It would cost a lot If I have to replace display or even the phone, since they probably will say it's no longer covered by warranty.
Any tips are welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Hope I have that lucky as well.
It happened to me again today. Surprisingly, a strong knock at center of the screen revived it again.

Hardware failure. May be a loose connection, cracked solder joint, trace failure on the mobo, or a bad component.

Not good if there's a recall... crap QC is getting to be a bad Samsung habit.
Those of you with BSOD issues: Did you have intermittent wifi connectivity issues as well? My N20U had the 'connected to wifi AP but no internet' for the last month. Then today after unplugging the OEM charger, checking charge level, never picking the phone up from the desk, and returning to it 30 minutes later the BSOD had hit. No amount of hard restarts or waiting fixed it and it had to get shipped back. Just wondering if there is any correlation between the wifi issue and the screen going out, and if people should start sending their note in ASAP if the wifi problem occurs before the screen goes?
hello
i had the same problem (didn't have any Wifi issues before)
and after the screen went black for 2 day , it came back and worked for a few hours.. then went off again and Never came back
i tried everything, resets , cables , connecting to Dex or Hdmi , updating.. but Never worked
i went to Samsung and they said screen must be replaced ( will pay for it as i am out of warranty)
can you tell me what have you done or if anything worked for you?
My screen went black after a screen replacement. Only the front glass was broken not the digitizer or actual screen. From what I can tell it's not just the screen that's dead, it's the digitizer too. The S-Pen board underneath it all isn't even registering. When I plug it in the computer doesn't see it so Dex won't connect and there is no signal for HDMI to work. Had the USB port replaced just to be sure it wasn't a bad port.
It's like some one took the graphics card out of a computer and took the touch screen monitor. The phone still gets signal. It connected to my smart Fossil watch and I could answer calls and texts.
But the phone is 9 months old. And from what I've heard from parts distributors it's not the screen that's the issue. So now I have a new motherboard. Now I have to figure out how to program it....

Bootloop Solution ------ > #Android #iOS #generally #Display-unit #falldamage

Hello XDA-Forum
I dont know where to post the thread, because it belongs to every smartphone brand. If you have an other opinion to that, feel free moving or deleting it.
But now..introducing myself,, a crazy dude and android noob², who tried to fix his bootloop issue since yesterday 3 p.m./15:00 Uhr and 10 minutes ago, before started writing that post, I found my solution.
Smartphone: Huawei P8, GRA09
What causes the bootloop? The fault display
What causes the defect? It felt from my hand on an oven door corner and ended on the ground.
What happened while and after its flight?
1st was turned off instantly,
couldn't turn on by pressing the power-button
after connecting to charging cable -> bootloop syndrome
if I disconnected the battery and re-connected it, sometimes an empty battery-icon had been shown on the display in loop
it seemed the p8 couldn't detect the battery, because without charging cable the Huawei didnt work
How do you know thats the display? I remembered storing an other vodafone-branded p8 with cracked functional display, in a box - and I replaced it at last.
Other defects on the display? Nope, the display is optical ok, no freezes, no graphic fails, no crack.
I was also able to enter the fastboot&rescue-mode,
adb didnt work.
fastboot commands also (command is not allowed , because p8 is locked)
Sincerely
ooh, k, thats weird.
i replaced the vodafone branded mainboard with the one from the p8, where I thought the display caused the bootloop of os and battery icon.
and it worked.
but now.... i have the issue also with the display of the other smartphone.
so it is not the display alone.
but what kind of hardware issue could caused by a fall damage, when the display doesnt have optical defects,
and the charging does not work now..
now, i have the same issues like yesterday. thats weird. :/
doey anyone have some advice?
could a flash fix the issue? or is it something with transistors on the mainboard?.. thats weird.. :/
ok, in the moment I lay it down on the ground the handy turns off instantly.
and now i have the same issues with the other one^^ wtf².
i hope it is the battery. but i dont know.... thats so unreal..^^
ok, it seems it was the battery.
and the fall damage relates the battery and the mainboard.
Because I purchased a new battery on Ebay and the vodafone-branded mainboard detects the new battery.
the main mainboard without not (but heres also a difference to the old behavior after connected to the charging-cable (the accu-sign still blinks after connecting it to the charging cable, but the boot won't work. I tried it the huawei sign will be displayed. and then it turns off and the accu sign will be displayed again)
